Discuss before/after changing, please[edit]

Zivania is a distillate, not a wine. The category was changed to reflect reality.

Regards Minatsu

By the same token, spirits belong more in the main Food & Drink Project rather than the Wine one, although I agree it's a bit of a judgement call in this case. But if you look at the WP charter, there's no mention of spirits, and F&D covers it perfectly well.

I thought that adding it to the Cyprus Project would be uncontroversial though :-) FlagSteward 20:11, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Need Photos[edit]

Expanded the article. Need to add some photos. Photo of Zivania added. Thanks to the Italian contributor Maxx1972 for the photo!

History[edit]

I understand that, although produced widely in the villages, zivania distillation was forbidden under British rule and in the first years of the Republic. I believe this may have been because the presence of grape stalks in the marc caused toxic methanol to be co-distilled. Certainly, in the 1950s, it was not on sale in shops. Perhaps this could be confirmed and mentioned in the article. Devilinhell (talk) 15:28, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
