Howdy[edit]

How is my favourite vinegar these days? I saw you editing today (yes, I have watchlisted your userpage :P. I'm not a stalker.) and am very excited to see you. I no longer edit here much, but I'd love to catch up with you on Skype or somesuch. Do you use Skype? Email? Anyway, hope you're well and do reply soon :). Selamat Pagi/Siang[edit]

Hi, thanks for your invitation in my talk-page on Indonesian Wikipedia. I'm a little bit odd that how will you think about sending welcome message to so many users by robot, and why involve me over there as well. Well, I'm not Indonesian, but fortunately I know a little bit of words in either Malay or Indonesian. Is that User:Borgx your user-page also on English Wikipedia? Very welcome you to visit my user-page, too. Cheers.--Gzyeah (talk) 03:43, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for opinion[edit]

Hi, I and my fellow editors are facing a deadlock on a issue of removing/toning down few lines on 'Allegations of Human Rights violation against the Indian Army' under 'criticism of the operation' section in Operation Blue Star article, concerns include WP:NPOV, WP:SOAP & WP:V, the summary of dispute can be found at [1]. I would request you to kindly go through the article and please let us know your views/opinion at the talk page of the article so that npov, balance and undue weight concerns may be looked into and a consensual solution may be found. Locked out of my account. ._.[edit]

Hi, I recently formated my PC and lost my big password file. Now I don't know my password for Wikipedia... normally I would just do a "forgot password" thing, but when I do that, it says my account has no email assigned to it. I thought you needed one for wikipedia? Anyway, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to prove I am that user and get my password back. The username in question is "Vael Victus". I own vaelvictus.com so I can easily send you an email from it to prove my identity. 72.221.76.103 (talk) 19:07, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help Please[edit]

Hello Acetic Acid, I am a journalist at The National newspaper in Abu Dhabi (www.thenational.ae), we circulate throughout the Middle East.

I noticed a comment of yours on a UAE related entry and wonder if you would be interested in talking to me for an article.

It is about the recently proposed changes to the Wikipedia editing rules (http://www.journal-online.co.uk/article/5405-wikipedia-proposes-moderatorapproved-editing).

If you are interested in talking to me, please email me on: ogood@thenational.ae (preferably with a phone number). I would need to speak to you either today (2/3/09) or tomorrow (3/3/09). Also please include your location.

Many thanks, Oliver Good. 12:36(GMT+4) 03 Mar 2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Olivergood (talkcontribs) 08:37, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Feeling nostalgic[edit]

  • You're the guy who introduced me to Wikipedia, and as a nostalgic old fogey, I was just reminiscing tonight. Thanks for the hand. I really appreciate it. JuJube (talk) 03:40, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Ditto! You welcomed me more than five years ago, and I've held Wikipedians in high regard ever since. Thankyou :) Gareth E Kegg (talk) 19:20, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Survey on gender[edit]

Hi! I'm Liria Veronesi (User:Akoha77) and, together with Paolo Massa (User:Phauly), I'm starting an empirical research on "Gender and votes in requests for adminship". For this reason, we need to know the gender of Wikipedians who were candidated to become admins.

We tried looking for the templates User:UBX/male and User:UBX/female but only 4 admins use it. We also used the API for getting the gender field in the profile but, out of 1744 admins, only around 400 have filled this field. But we would benefit from a larger coverage, i.e. possibly knowing the gender of 100% of candidates.

So, after asking for advice to 3 admins and receiving 2 positive replies (1 and 2), we decided to try to ask directly to Wikipedians.

Thus, would you be so kind to write your gender [Male / Female / Other], together with a text comment if you want, on my talk page at User_talk:Akoha77? If you prefer to send me this information privately, you can send me an email, the information will be kept confidential and never shared.

Thanks! Akoha77 (talk) 12:50, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.
