Removed speedy deletion tag: Charles Hamilton (rapper)[edit]

Hi Badmachine! Firstly, thanks for helping out in CSD areas. I just wanted to inform you that I removed the speedy deletion tag you placed on Charles Hamilton (rapper)- because: the article makes a credible claim of importance or significance. If you have any questions or other message, please contact me. Thanks Kingpin13 (talk) 07:36, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sherrod[edit]

Have you read Wikipedia:Don't template the regulars? It is considered rude to do so. In any case , you are wrong. Please have a look at the USA today article where it clearly says:[1]

"They called me twice," Sherrod said, referring to the Ag Department. "The last time they asked me to pull over the side of the road and submit my resignation on my Blackberry, and that's what I did."

I would like an apology or retraction on my talk page please. LK (talk) 09:46, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

done. i did not see the USA Today cite, only the one from BBC, which did not quote her. Badmachine (talk) 10:27, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was kinda hoping for a 'I was wrong about the sourcing, you didn't vandalize the page' kinda apology. But I kinda owe you one too for the tone of my message. :-/ LK (talk) 17:14, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
of course you didnt vandalize the page. i failed to assume good faith and i missed the better of the two citations. dont worry about the tone of your message; it was me who didnt know the guideline and it was not my intent to be rude. Badmachine (talk) 19:40, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Now I should apologize for asking for an apology in the first place, per WP:apology. ;-) LK (talk) 07:25, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I see you tagged 1990-2009 in fashion with a contradict flag, which got dragged across to the 1990s in fashion split. I've had a look, and couldn't see any obvious contradictions, so I've removed the tag. If I've missed it, feel free to put the tag back on, and leave a note at the talk page. Cheers. -- WORMMЯOW  14:19, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

that was so long ago that i cant even remember what the contradiction was. Badmachine (talk) 18:26, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
but i am glad they finally split the article into two. Badmachine (talk) 18:28, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gloria Allred[edit]

Thanks for the message about my edit of Gloria Allred. I was mainly trying to revert back past some obvious vandalism. It looks like I made a mistake in restoring the bizarre phrase "run and dump", and I will go and fix it now. Thanks for pointing out what I had done. Grafen (talk) 09:30, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, you've already done it. Thanks again. Grafen (talk) 09:32, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer granted[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Dabomb87 (talk) 22:46, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bjork talk page archive[edit]

Hello. I had to revert the edit you made to the Björk talk page because it interfered with the edits that were made as a part of the GA review. The Björk talk page had been properly archived. You can see the link to the new archive page in the archive box. The archive style is a little weird, but I decided to keep it in the same format as the other archive page. --Tea with toast (話) 17:44, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Crystal Hotel (San Francisco) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Epeefleche (talk) 22:58, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Ohio Pen 1931.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ohio Pen 1931.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. It's clearly not okay to have a penis pic on your userpage, because that's just not appropriate! Some people might get offended if you did that, and we don't want that. Kinda like they would if they typed the word "forefinger" into the search box on Commons, y'know? And we really wouldn't want that, now would we? - Alison 06:53, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Alison, don't make me interfere with your penis. As for the forefinger search, I guess one is never too old to learn. Night Ranger, please don't even consider the socking thing. It's irritating. I already have gag reflexes when I run into SA, and then there's the Cincinnati Zoo dude, and the Tachash dude, and the Boston fan who hates fat people (and penises)... Drmies (talk) 13:27, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

March 2012[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for Trolling and bating, as you did at User:Night Ranger. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Guerillero | My Talk 03:56, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
i have no idea what this is all about. i have not even edited that page at all. i presume this refers to the talk page, on which i engaged in civil discourse with a user who was being harassed. no matter tho, i can wait a week. -badmachine 05:11, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is ridiculous, as I just stated on ANI. Per policy, blocks are meant to be preventative, not punitive, and this week-long block, without warning, is unacceptable especially given two admins (myself and Drmies) are already involved here and in discussion. I'm unblocking - Alison 05:20, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
i still seem to be blocked. i looked at ANI, and as far as i can tell, Guerillero thinks my comment 'im glad youve changed your ways' refers to his statement of intent to sock. my reply was to the other part of the same message: 'i used to be like that but not anymore'. me and Night Ranger have a past, he opened a sockpuppet investigation on me, and i didnt care for that. then i saw him getting mad about stuff that isnt worth getting mad about, so i was trying to encourage him to adopt a different attitude. anyway, whatever. i am still blocked, and i dont want anyone to get in trouble on my behalf. i believe my behavior is not inappropriate. -badmachine 06:12, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Your autoblock is probably still in place. Can you post the autoblock ID here and I'll deal with it? - Alison 06:26, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
 Done - Alison 06:31, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
thanks Alison. afa 'taking one for the team', that was a reply to a humourous message from Drmies on Night Ranger's talk page, and the penis suggestion referred to Night Ranger's reporting of my previous previous userpage to ANI. -badmachine 06:34, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I should give you a warning for original research. If I said anything humorous, it was completely unintentional. Don't you know I'm a fucking admin? We don't joke around here, badmachine. Next time, you get a level-4 turkey slap. Drmies (talk) 18:11, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Satanism[edit]

Userspace is not meant to be used for trolling; since you appear dead set on trying to misuse your userpage, I have indefinitely protected it. Salvio Let's talk about it! 23:54, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Satanism is a perfectly valid religion, with quite a large number of adherents in the US and elsewhere. It's certainly no less valid than many other cults. I can't believe you removed someone's profession of religious beliefs from their user page and then sysop-protected it. Please undo your admin action here, unless you intend to go do the same to all the Christians, Moslems and others here. While you're at it, check out Category:Satanist Wikipedians - there are plenty - Alison 02:05, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Alison, I have informed the admin that, while the userbox was a joke (and even so still perfectly acceptable according to WP:Userbox), it still could be considered a valid belief. I also do feel that indefinite protection was a bit much over a userbox. -badmachine 02:09, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

hello. i understand your need to promote wikifur. however, a single sentence mention does not make it notable. there is an essay on this, but WP:GNG states that in general, a single sentence mention in insufficient to establish notability. :) -badmachine 19:42, 9 April 2012 (UTC) — Preceding text originally posted on User talk:GreenReaper (diff) by badmachine (talkcontribs) 19:42, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As I explained elsewhere, Wikipedia's concept of notability relates to whether a subject should have its own article – not whether it should be mentioned in a section of an article about a wider topic, nor whether there should be a redirect to that section from the subject's name. Please read the guideline you are pointing at before trying to use it. GreenReaper (talk) 19:51, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IPBE Request[edit]

Hello Badmachine. At this time I can't grant you WP:IPBE as you don't really fall under any of the criteria for granting this bit. Generally we allow editors to edit through tor as a means to get around restrictions they are otherwise facing (such as Chinese editors). Your situation, however, is different. If you are concerned about privacy, note that your IP address is protected by the WMF privacy policy, and an extremely limited number of people have the capability of seeing it (and such access is logged and heavily monitored). If you can't trust the people with such access, then there's not much more we can do for you. Please note that our policy on IPBE explicitly calls out that avoidance of checkuser is not a reason for granting this bit. Let me know if you have any questions. On a side note, thank you for pointing out that User:TorNodeBot did not have a confirmed email address. I have fixed this. Regards, Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 04:25, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ya[edit]

It's pretty much all my fault. :-( If you want your userpage unprotected any not request it at RFPP? Maybe some nice person will accept your request. I hope you haven't done anything rash, very few people here are any fun at all and you're one of the few who are. Night Ranger (talk) 02:38, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Banning you would be absurd, you haven't done anything to deserve that. There's no way that will go over. You just automatically have enemies because of the GNAA userbox. Mob is chomping at the bit. Where is Alison? Night Ranger (talk) 02:48, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, but friends are nice to have. Anyway, I opposed the ban but even if I hadn't I seriously doubt it would get any traction. I'm pretty sure your userpage will be unlocked at some point. Night Ranger (talk) 02:52, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Alison is hella busy right now, but drops in every so often. If Badmachine gets banned for no good reason, she will not be pleased - Alison 05:01, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inclined to unprotect your page. Please remember that you do not WP:OWN your userpage, and if you are back at teh dramahhboards for doing something controversial with it, there seem to be a number of admisn willing to block for that, which would be a shame. Also the unprotection does not mean that the current version is neccesarily acceptable to the community. Rich Farmbrough, 03:44, 1 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]
