Your revert

Hi. I am a little unhappy with your revert of one of my edits. Please do not revert without discussion except in cases of obvious vandalism, which my edit was not (for background, please see each and every pertinent guideline). Content-wise, I don't see the merits of your version. I did remove "Sweden" from "Stockholm, Sweden" in a Stockholm-related article. Now, while Stockholm, New Jersey is an appropriate way of refering to some one-horse town in the middle of somewhere, Stockholm, Sweden is not. While I understand that the "place, state" format is considered correct when refering to places in the USA, it is very much incorrect for other places. Firstly, that format is simply not used outside the US. Secondly, using it for a European capital (or any other place) is an inappropriate extrapolation, since an independent country is not the same as a US state. Thirdly, its usage may be considered offensive or a sign of illiteracy, ignorance, or worse. Please reconsider your revert. I don't like re-reverting - may I suggest that you rectify this yourself? Place, Country is the common format for ALL Olympic articles and many others besides (1956 Winter Olympics, 1956 Olympics, 2008 Summer Olympics, 2010 European Championships in Aquatics, 2002 Commonwealth Games etc). Frankly I find you taking offense bizarre. And to say it is not used outside the US is simply incorrect; i'm not from, nor have I ever been to, the US and I would use it apparently and so would many others as shown in the examples. So no, I won't be undoing my revert and i'd request that you don't either. Oh and in future kindly don't accuse other users of being offensive, illiterate or ignorant otherwise i'd imagine they'd accuse you of worse. Cheers. Basement12 (T.C) 12:42, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Please do not read opinions into my comments that I did not express. You apparently construe my opinion as taking offense and being accusative. I wrote "may be considered" because I mean it precisely so - I am not considering it offensive and worse but I have come across that judgment quite a few times, and that is why I am unhappy with that way of phrasing in a Wikipedia article. But I will not try to explain it any further - if you don't see why phrases like London, England look unpleasant I obviously can't make you see it. I will not touch that article again, because I don't revert lightheartedly, much less re-revert, and certainly not without discussion. Have a nice day. Great Britain at the 1992 Winter Paralympics

Hey I'd like to run some thoughts by you based on the notability discussion. When the issue is boiled down it appears as though the question is whether the International Paralympic Committee and the British Paralympic Committee (or any National Paralympic Committee) is independent enough from Great Britain at the 1992 Winter Paralympics to meet the general notability guideline. On the surface I think there is an argument here. The IPC organizes the Winter and Summer Paralympics and the BPA is a subset of the IPC, which creates an issue. Unless I'm missing something here, then I think the editor has a point. Not that I agree that the article is not notable, I feel that it is completely notable, but when slavishly following the guidelines it would appear as though we need to find some more independent sources. I've found the following links: [1] and [2]. I think both of these links make more than a passing mention of the 1992 Games and the importance of those Games to the Paralympic movement in Great Britain. I don't think there is a requirement that the article totally rest of independent sources, but having some in there to help underpin what is in there already will certainly help. I would not concede that the article is not notable, I believe that it is and deserves a place along with all the other articles in its category. If this argument prevails it could jeopardize thousands of other articles and I'm not interested in having that happen. I will continue to look for sources to help in the endeavor. Please know that by saying he has a point I'm not discounting your arguments, I'm trying to remain as detached as possible emotionally, and just work on helping to meet the dissenting editor's issues. If it goes to AfD and is kept there then that's great, but if it is not then we're going to have to revisit this issue and it won't be pretty. Keep your head up. Looking at it soley from the notability guidelines I see his point as well, however looking for sources just to satisfy this one article to my mind does jeopardize all the others. The editor in question has completely ignored my suggestions that the existence of all the articles of this type is due to a consensus that they are notable (with or without the kind of sources he is looking for) simply by being a team at the Games. This is something that i've never really questioned as to me it made sense but I can't pinpoint anywhere that details such a consensus. The notability guidelines are just that, guidelines, particularly with the general top level ones being quoted in this case. As such if consensus was that a team at the Games is notable any source that shows that it competed, even from IOC/IPC material, should be acceptable. An example of this type of notability is seen with WP:ATHLETE; an athlete taking part in the Games is notable and an IOC/IPC source would be fine as a ref for this so why not the same for the teams? Rather than spend time adding sources to this article just to have the same issue be raised with many others immediately afterwards a better solution in my mind would be to open a wider debate, such as an AfD or even at Wikipedia:Notability, which would show a consensus and the argument once and for all. You make a good point, and I see that if we start running around for sources for this article we will have to do so on all the articles. His point would of course be...yes isn't that the point? But a broader disucssion on the notability issue is absolutely worth having. It would probably have to be in a neutral forum (AfD is an example). It is risky though. If consensus goes against notability then that will really impact the project in a major way. I wanted to discuss this with you outside of the discussion page, I will not bring the other sources up or add them to the article to satisfy this one editor's demands. I'll make a comment to the end that it should be discussed further and leave it at that. Are you going to bring this up at AfD or some other forum? Best of luck. I can't see the consensus going against notability; I think the consensus already exists (hence the articles exist) but has just never been formally detailed in a place such as the notability guidelines. My hope was that Diderot's dreams would decide it was worth an AfD debate as I think on this article we're well placed to defend it and the policy of having an article for all nations at a Games. I certainly can't open an AfD as I don't believe any of these articles should be deleted. I'll ask Parutakupiu and Andrwsc if they know of such a discussion taking place in the past but I think this will need to go to a wider discussion eventually. In the meantime I think your sources should be added, you went to the effort of finding them and they certainly won't do any harm, with or without them the option will be there to question the notability of other articles in the category, but hopefully Diderot won't wish to do so at this time Basement12 (T.C) 08:39, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

First off thank you for contacting me, someone recognising my work is a massive boost and inspiration to make me put more work in when i've had limited time to dedicate of late. As i'm sure you've found out any Olympic article when very few athletes are involved is tough to write but I liked the comparisons to previous Games (note the capitalisation of Games - It is my belief that any reference to the Games/ a Games etc should be capitalised but this is debatable) which added to the both length and substance. I did a little reordering of the prose - again my preference but feel free to change it back/about - and i'll assume finding images is impossible so the one question I come away with is what role in the delegation did Yukio Peter have? It may be that this isn't something you can find out or source (if you know but can't find a source i'd rather see it there without a source, the worst that would result is a fact tag). The article complies nicely with the Wikiproject's manual of style and I hope you'll have the opportunity to work on further Olympic articles in the future, if you do and want help feel free to contact me or see WP:OLYMOSNAT and WT:OLY for tips or assistance - Happy editing Basement12 (T.C) 01:02, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Your work on article is fine, but i just wanna to know - could you please review this against GAC? And for the Yukio Peter's role in Nauru's delegation, you're right i didn't find out in any source; there is only single line in one of sources that he was selected in the delegation team for Beijing after he failed from qualification. And one more thing, please take a look at 1982 Asian Games medal table, this is a new article made by me and i'm thinking to nominate it for FL, any feedback from you would be appreciated. After getting two articles shot down at FAC and FLC I got discouraged and also realized that I was investing too much time and mental energy into this project. There are other priorities in my life. I like the way you put it when you said a flurry of activity. That's me in a nut shell. I need to let the fields lie fallow for a while. I'm starting to feel the bug to return. Whilst I know you weren't trying to cause a problem you were adding misleading information to the article. Just because someone removes the wrong information they aren't obliged to find out, add and source the correct details, something you could easily have done.
