Re: Infobox Colors[edit]

Yeah, I took those from the Brady and Manning pages, as they seemed to be the standard. They do work better with players with multiple positions, though. Pats1 01:29, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Undrafted rookies[edit]

Where are you getting your information for the undrafted rookies that you're adding to rosters? I can't find anything anywhere; there's no information on NFL.com or official websites (at least not for the Browns). Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 05:12, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. I'm not looking to verify them, because I'm sure they're true. But I needed a source for the 2007 Browns page. Thanks! Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 05:22, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Peek and Wimbley positions[edit]

I only listed them there because those were their positions prior to joining the Browns. Wimbley often lines up as a defensive end, and played DE in college. Peek played DE with the Texans (or Titans, I don't remember where we got him from), so I don't know where the Browns are going to play him. Their GM said outside linebacker, but it's debatable right now. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 01:29, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

T vs. OT[edit]

It's inaccurate to list an offensive lineman as just a Tackle because that could mean defensive or offensive, which is why I noted offensive tackles with OT. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 01:32, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well they are listed under the "Offensive linemen" category so it's not really inaccurate.Chris Nelson 01:38, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

The Running Man Barnstar
Congratulations! I've awarded you the Running Man Barnstar for all your hard work in getting all the NFL team roster templates up-to-standards as per the NFL WikiProject. Thanks for all your work! Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 05:39, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose it doesn't really mean anything other than that you have some sweet bling for your user page now. :) Nah, in spite of our differences, you've done a lot of hard work on those rosters. I'd never have the patience to go through every one of them and edit them as you have. So I thought you deserved a barnstar for it. :) Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 05:46, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

I have put those tags on many, many pages. Simply put, EVERY page should have at least one source, depending on the information. Perhaps you should read Wikipedia:Sources? It isn't exactly common knowledge yet that Marquay Love is on the Dolphins, even to people that follow the NFL Draft such as myself.--Thomas.macmillan 21:11, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Leber[edit]

I was just pointing out he wasn't a rookie since it appeared that way when displaying the roster, not realizing your intent. I don't mean to single you out or anything. It looks like you've worked hard at updating the rosters and it was just a small error. Keep up the efforts on the NFL roster project! No harm, no foul! Cheers, RyguyMN 01:40, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please Use Edit Summaries[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Jmlk17 08:37, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Word man...Go GA Tech ;). Naw, I'm just kidding, my buddy goes to Georgia actually. Have a good one! Jmlk17 08:41, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Chris, please start using summaries for your edits. It literally can be something as simple as +cat when you are adding a category, for example, or some other short notation. If you're using form-help in your browser, your most common summaries will be available as a dropdown whenever you start typing in the summary field. It is the considerate thing to do for other editors who have articles watchlisted and would otherwise feel the need to look at your edits in more detail. Thanks. Re: Roster links[edit]

Sounds good. We've already learned linking the text at the top causes color problems, so you may have to do it in the bottom right. Pats1 22:56, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Linking the rosters will be easy. Give me some extra time this week and I can do it. :) Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 23:44, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's no big deal to me but ...[edit]

Teams frequently announce a roster move one day and then don't make the corresponding move until the next day. They just can't have more than 25 men on their active roster during a game. Moves can be made at any point between the last pitch of one game and the first pitch of the next. It seemed to me that since it was out on the news wires at MLB.com, Sportsline.com and Yahoo, it was reasonable to make the change in the roster here. --Sanfranman59 06:22, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Roster template colors[edit]

The colors may not necessarily hurt our eyes, but according to WP:COLOR, they have to be contrasting colors, so that people who are color blind can distinguish the colors.

Aside from that, I'm adding the link to the rosters list. I couldn't figure out how to do it any other way. Haha. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 03:27, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I actually meant to point you to WP:WAI, which explains why. Some of them were hard on MY eyes and I'm not color blind at all. But if you revert them, make sure you just change the colors back to what they were so you don't have to add in the link to rosters all over again. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 03:33, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. Until someone complains, we'll leave them as is. It might just be because I've been up for almost 30 hours now studying for exams. But some of them were just bad, like the Seahawks' roster colors. Two shades of blue on top of each other just looks... ugh. Haha. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 03:38, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. We'll leave them until someone complains or smacks us around. Or something. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 03:44, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Seahawk player #'s[edit]

The absolute best source for Seahawk info is Mike Sando's blog from the Tacoma News Tribune... I used to always rely on Seattle Times and KFFL for the most up to date news, but this guy's blog is like 24/7 Seahawks... (http://blogs.thenewstribune.com/seahawks/) under his resources link he has a "33 category roster" set up in MS Excel. It is updated every time the seahawks not only sign a player but even just try out a player. as i'm sure you know, seahawks.com is a joke. Go Hawks! -Bockhorst

Browns roster[edit]

I figured that I'd let you know that I reversed the colors on the {{Cleveland Browns roster}} so that it was a little bit easier to read. Also, whenever someone mentions the Browns' team colors, they usually say "orange" first, so I figured I'd make orange the main color for the Browns' templates. Wlmaltby3talk/contribs 19:28, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am not trying to start trouble here but you are putting the wrong colors on the Templates.--Yankees10 02:49, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Yankees10[reply]

License tagging for Image:ChrisWoodward.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ChrisWoodward.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:06, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

RE: v-d-e thing[edit]

I think you have to use a different code format for that to work. I'm not sure. Try using Template:PatriotsQuarterback as a coding template for the Dolphins', because they're certainly different. Pats1 21:01, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eagles Roster...[edit]

I appreciate that you think you are the controller of all of the NFL rosters, but, you're not. The eagles have one of the best websites in the NFL (in fact, I believe they won an award for it). They post news/information/stories daily. I understand that many football teams let their sites get stale, but the Eagles are not one of them. You appear to be a Dolphins fan, that's great. I'm an eagles fan, and I'm sure I follow the Eagles more closely than you. You are removing information that can be easily verified on an official team site. That could easily be construed as vandalism. Bjewiki 02:16, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One reason he's not on the top 6 in the (DE) depth chart is that there are like 8 DEs on the roster right now, obviously not all of them will be there come training camp. In any case, the eagles officially list him as a LB/DE (as does his wiki page). And that is easily verifiable. Bjewiki 02:25, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And how do you know Gocong doesn't/won't play any end? Last year in training camp, before he went on the IR, he was working as a DE and an OLB. True, Johnson has named him first string SAM for now, but that doesn't mean he can't get beaten out by Spikes, Stewart, Daniels, etc for the job come training camp. Bjewiki 02:31, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Verifiability[edit]

WP:VERIFY

The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. "Verifiable" in this context means that any reader should be able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source. Editors should provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is challenged or is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed.

Wikipedia:Verifiability is one of Wikipedia's core content policies. The others include Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Jointly, these policies determine the type and quality of material that is acceptable in Wikipedia articles. They should not be interpreted in isolation from one another, and editors should try to familiarize themselves with all three.

Bjewiki 02:49, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Last Chance...[edit]

Last chance. If you do not stop removing verifiable content from the eagles roster, tommorrow I will lodge an official complaint with the Wiki-NFL project. You are not the "GOD" of all NFL rosters like you try to be. This is a community project, as as my edit comes from an easily verifiable, and official source (the teams official website) it should be allowed to stand. I am giving you this message as fair warning. Bjewiki 02:55, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gocong[edit]

Since you two are carrying this out on each others talk pages, I will leave you with this Eagles depth chart. It does not list Gocong anywhere as a DE. However, the attitude that X is happening is real life and is therefore accurate is a tough one to win. Verification is important, as is not breaking the three revert rule. I would suggest both of you working out a compromise. Otherwise both of you will wind up at the 3RR notice board.

DolphinsFirstPick template[edit]

I renamed both the Dolphins' first pick template and season templates for they're standardized with the Browns' and Pats'. I already changed the template link in the season pages affected, but if you could change it in the first picks' that would be great. It's really not anything urgent - just more of a technical issue. Re:[edit]

Why don't you just leave the team that I have worked so hard on to fix up and work on, how would you feel if I went to the Dolphins players and started changing everything on there. Thats what I thought, and if you noticed how I haven't changed anything on any other player since this whole thing unfolded. So leave my team alone and you'll hear the end of me. Got it. MetsFan153 22:36, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's like I'm talking to a wall, if you are so into this why don't you go and edit all 500 MLB players with that their current team, on every MLB team, until then it seems like you have it in for me, so leave as is unless you want to do this for every single player on every single team. MetsFan153 22:44, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't a misrepresentation, the guy played for the an organization in 2003, if he is still there in 2007, he had former teams in 2003,2004,2005,2006. So tell me how thats a misrepresentation, and the more and more I hear out of you it seems like you have a bone to pick with over nothing, so go and change every other MLB player then if you are that interested in doing this, especially over 2 players who have had this (2003-Present) on their page for over a year now. And now all of the sudden you are the only one who cares about this. MetsFan153 22:54, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately this is not an error, and just keep planning on me to revert your errored deletions. MetsFan153 23:00, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball player infoboxes[edit]

Hi Chris ... Would you please hold off on changing the lists of teams in baseball player infoboxes until we come to a decision at WP:WPBBP? We seem to be leaning toward changing the heading from "Former teams" to "Teams" so that we can include current teams in the list. If so, you're just creating more work for us. Thanks. --Sanfranman59 23:22, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response. None of us want to present blatantly wrong information. I'm just requesting that you hold off on making these types of edits until we resolve the issue so we don't have more work ahead of us than is necessary. Thanks again. --Sanfranman59 23:34, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Madden weapons feature[edit]

It was removed for the same reason that we removed weapons and certain feature sections from Resident Evil 4, Halo: Combat Evolved, Gears of War ect, as it makes the the article sound more like an Walk through guide, as opposed to an encyclopedia.. The sections are not needed, and can be accessed on sites like GameFaqs. You can however present the items in some sort of paragraph, as long as it has some substance to it. --  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  19:24, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

External link question[edit]

It looks to me that you are quite correct. We certainly don't need a ton of links to "unofficial roster lists", especially since that's not even sourcing anything in the article (and if it were, I imagine a more reliable source could be found). External links aren't for things that are just tangentially related to the article. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:19, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since it seems to be just the two of you involved in the debate, you certainly could go request a third opinion. While I personally agree that the link is not appropriate, I don't see any evidence that it's part of a deliberate effort to spam, so it doesn't rise to anything where blocks or protection would be called for as yet. Still, seeing single-purpose accounts which seem to have the sole intent of inserting and reinserting a link certainly does tend to raise my suspicions. You might also contact the IP editor on his/her talk and ask them to come to the article talk and discuss the matter. A lot of new editors are unaware that a facility such as talk pages exists, but once you've notified someone of that, it's certainly not acceptable to keep on reverting without discussing. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:05, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a good reason to believe it's that person's website? If it's spamming, there's plenty that can be done. (Also, frustrating as it may get sometime, please do refrain from personal attacks.) Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:12, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
