Peter Anton

I just deleted the article Peter Anton (outsider artist) as an attack page, but I see now that some of the claims in the article is actually corroborated by high-quality sources. Besides, being the subject of a notable film, is definitely a credible claim of significance, which means the article didn't meet any criteria for speedy deletion as far as I can see (not an attack page, not a negative unsourced BLP, and with a credible claim to significance). So what it boils down to is that the tagging was probably not correct, and my deletion was also incorrect. I will have a think about how to proceed. Just wanted to give you a heads-up. Regards, decltype (talk) 01:03, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Upon further reflection, I have decided to uphold my own deletion as valid under WP:BLPDEL. In the future, if you come across an A7 candidate which contains negative unsourced statements, it's probably best to err on the side of caution and tag it under CSD G10. Regards, decltype (talk) 10:37, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
Decltype Ah, sorry about that. Honestly to me the page just seemed under-sourced and the person did not seem very remarkable, and I normally will pick A7 over G10 unless it's way to bad, but thanks for cleating it up! CodeLyokobuzz 15:43, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

A goat for you!

Thanks for reconsidering the Zodwa Nyoni article. I learnt a lot from the process!

epidata

Hi mate, thanks for moving my epidata article to a real draft. But I have doubts if I am doing the job well because there is already a page with the same name. In the epidata article appears a message that inforns

"The page Epidata already exists. Please ensure it is not a copy or that this page is located to the correct title".

Is this okay?

Thank you so much. Best, --Nlepanto (talk) 21:03, 8 September 2019 (UTC)

Shinewater Branze Age settlement

Hi

I have resubmitted my page on Shinewater. I would like to get it going and add further research over time.

I appreciate your comments that it was very short. More details and references have now been added.

Best regards

New page reviewer granted

Hi CodeLyoko. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encylopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 20:17, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

No Contest

Speedy deletion for no context is only for cass where it is impossible to tell what the article is about, such as an article reading only, John Smith is a famous musician. For Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam the context was perfectly clear: it is a court in Brunei. We do not speedy delete just because an article is a minimal stub. Minimal stubs can be expanded. I see you are a new reviewer. Please read very carefully the criteria at WP:SPEEDY before listing further articles for deletion . They are applied narrowly and strictly. DGG ( talk ) 08:54, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Apologies, @DGG:, I did read SPEEDY but must have misunderstood G1, I'll make sure I'm the future I am more careful with tagging articles and take a second look at SPEEEDY. CodeLyokobuzz 13:20, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Perfect Day (company)

Hi CodeLyoko - thanks for reviewing my draft. I noticed that you declined it for "reading like an advertisement." I've tried to take care to avoid this and I'd like to improve it if possible. Is there more detailed feedback you can give, or specific sections, or language you feel deserve revision? Thanks very much for your time. BlackMaus (talk) 04:26, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

I've been informally giving advice, on and off, to BlackMaus. I just made a pretty large pruning of the section about company history to try to address the WP:NOTADVERT issue, in case that helps. I'd be interested in your review of the source material in respect to WP:ORG. Thanks. --Tryptofish (talk) 21:58, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
@BlackMaus: @Tryptofish: A few things about the draft, first off the entire lead seems overly promotional "the company aims to enable food companies to create dairy products with the nutrition and food functionality inherent to milk proteins, but without the perceived negative health and environmental impacts associated with dairy products from bovine agriculture" could be reworded to be neutral as it seems like it is directly out of promotional material. While the refs are mostly good, the entire article needs a good reword in order to be encyclopedic. CodeLyokobuzz 14:10, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
Thank you @CodeLyoko: and @Tryptofish: for your feedback and edits. I'm grateful. I'm thinking through how to reword to be more encyclopedic - as I said, I've tried to write with language as neutral as possible, but it's possible I'm too close to the subject. I've asked a couple other Wikipedians with relevant stated interests to give feedback also. I'll keep thinking on it and asking questions from others, and will resubmit in awhile. I'd like to get this right, even if some of what's there now is cut back. Appreciate your time! BlackMaus (talk) 20:56, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

CodeLyoko appointed trainee clerk

The arbitration clerks are pleased to welcome CodeLyoko (talk · contribs) to the clerk team as a trainee!

The arbitration clerk team is often in need of new members, and any editor who would like to join the clerk team is welcome to apply by email to clerks-l@lists.wikimedia.org.

Welcome to the arbitration clerk team

Hi CodeLyoko. We have added you to the list of clerks and subscribed you to the mailing list (info: WP:AC/C#clerks-l). Welcome, and I look forward to working with you! To adjust your subscription options for the mailing list, see the link at mail:clerks-l. The mailing list works in the usual way, and the address to which new mailing list threads can be sent is clerks-l@lists.wikimedia.org. Useful reading for new clerks is the procedures page, WP:AC/C/P, but you will learn all the basic components of clerking on-the-job.

New clerks begin as a trainee, are listed as such at WP:AC/C#Personnel, and will remain so until they have learned all the aspects of the job. When you've finished training, which usually takes a couple of/a few months, then we'll propose to the Committee that you be made a full clerk. As a clerk, you'll need to check your e-mail regularly, as the mailing list is where the clerks co-ordinate (on-wiki co-ordination page also exists but is not used nearly as much). If you've any questions at any point of your traineeship, simply post to the mailing list.

Lastly, it might be useful if you enter your timezone into WP:AC/C#Personnel (in the same format as the other members have), so that we can estimate when we will have clerks available each day; this is, of course, at your discretion. Again, welcome! Regards, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 04:27, 22 October 2019 (UTC)

Editor already has same article in Draft:RIOK1, that's why I couldn't move it. I left them a note on their Talk page to work on the draft version and nominated the mainspace version for speedy. Schazjmd (talk) 17:38, 22 October 2019 (UTC)

Good morning, you flagged my draft article as needing editing. I really appreciate you taking the time to look at it and offer feedback. Another (not so considerate user) has come along and deleted it without leaving any comments. How do I get it back so that I can edit it accordingly?

Hello, Alenasaeri! Having an article declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. If you are wondering why your article submission was declined, please post a question at the Articles for creation help desk. New Page Review newsletter November 2019

Hello CodeLyoko,

This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.

Getting the queue to 0

There are now 816 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.

Coordinator

Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.

This month's refresher course

Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.

Tools
  • It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
  • It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
Reviewer Feedback

Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.

Second set of eyes
  • Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
  • Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
Arbitration Committee

The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.

Community Wish list

There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.

Reviewer of the Year

This year's Reviewer of the Year is Rosguill. Having gotten the reviewer PERM in August 2018, they have been a regular reviewer of articles and redirects, been an active participant in the NPP community, and has been the driving force for the emerging NPP Source Guide that will help reviewers better evaluate sourcing and notability in many countries for which it has historically been difficult.

Special commendation again goes to Onel5969 who ends the year as one of our most prolific reviewers for the second consecutive year. Thanks also to Boleyn and JTtheOG who have been in the top 5 for the last two years as well.

Several newer editors have done a lot of work with CAPTAIN MEDUSA and DannyS712 (who has also written bots which have patrolled thousands of redirects) being new reviewers since this time last year.

Thanks to them and to everyone reading this who has participated in New Page Patrol this year.

Redirect autopatrol

A recent Request for Comment on creating a new redirect autopatrol pseduo-permission was closed early. New Page Reviewers are now able to nominate editors who have an established track record creating uncontroversial redirects. At the individual discretion of any administrator or after 24 hours and a consensus of at least 3 New Page Reviewers an editor may be added to a list of users whose redirects will be patrolled automatically by DannyS712 bot III.

Source Guide Discussion

Set to launch early in the new year is our first New Page Patrol Source Guide discussion. These discussions are designed to solicit input on sources in places and topic areas that might otherwise be harder for reviewers to evaluate. The hope is that this will allow us to improve the accuracy of our patrols for articles using these sources (and/or give us places to perform a WP:BEFORE prior to nominating for deletion). Please watch the New Page Patrol talk page for more information.

This month's refresher course

While New Page Reviewers are an experienced set of editors, we all benefit from an occasional review. This month consider refreshing yourself on Wikipedia:Notability (geographic features). Also consider how we can take the time for quality in this area. For instance, sources to verify human settlements, which are presumed notable, can often be found in seconds. This lets us avoid the (ugly) 'Needs more refs' tag.

Small correction to the "Human Spirit" page ..

Hello.. just a small correction to the page:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_spirit

the last 2 Bible references both point to the same URL.

2 Cor 5:17

Rom 12:2

They should be:

2 Cor 5:17

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Cor%205:17&version=NIV

Rom 12:2

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Rom%2012:2&version=NIV

Edit notice page

Hello, Code Lyoko,

There is a speedy deletion notice on your subpage Edit Notice but it doesn't look like you put it there because it hasn't been edited. Did you want it deleted? Liz Read! Talk! 01:03, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

I'm actually trying to have all the subpages for my old username, TheMesquito, deleted but forgot to change some of my pages to point to the new location instead of the old one so when I nominated my button template for deletion it put it on a bunch of my userpages too. Sorry for the trouble! CodeLyokotalk 01:07, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

ArbCom 2019 election voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:12, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Can you create accounts with the usernames "Invalid0S", "Invalid05", "InvalidO5", "ImvalidOS", and "InvaiidOS" for me to prevent impersonation? I'm asking directly because I couldn't really find out how to use the request an account process for this. InvalidOS (talk) 21:41, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

@InvalidOS: I really do not feel comfortable making an account out of the offical process of ACC though but, you can go here Wikipedia:Request an account to go through the process of having ACC do it or use Special:CreateAccount and you can make them yourself, up to I think 5 a day, and they will be publicly logged that you created them so it makes it easier to link them back to your main account. When you do make the account please make sure you follow WP:SOCKLEGIT and WP:DOPP after you create them and properly tag them as ligit socks. CodeLyokotalk 05:56, 3 February 2020 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer newsletter February 2020

Hello CodeLyoko,

Source Guide Discussion

The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.

Redirects

New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.

Discussions and Resources
Refresher

Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

Hi CodeLyoko, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

New Page Reviewer newsletter June 2020

Hello CodeLyoko,

Your help can make a difference

NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.

Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate

In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.

Discussions and Resources
  • A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
  • Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.
  • A proposed new speedy deletion criteria for certain kinds of redirects ended with no consensus.
  • Also ending with no change was a proposal to change how we handle certain kinds of vector images.

Request on 19:08:12, 11 September 2020 for assistance on AfC submission by Oceanlugano

Hello,

This is regarding https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Nicola_Comucci

For the reasons for non-approval, you mentioned:

1. "three are unaccessible files on Dropbox" - This is because are they scans of newspaper articles from the 1960's (and these publications do not have online public archives). If there is another way to feature these I would be happy to do so.  2. "one is a Google search" - I believe I have fixed this  3. "and one is a passing mention in an article about the Centro Tecnico Federale di Coverciano" - I'm not sure I agree. There are two mentions of him in the article, one of which says "By the late 1960s, Professor Nicola Comucci was teaching Coverciano's first-ever courses on how to prepare footballers physically to compete at the highest level.", which is the point being highlighted in the wikipedia text.

As for the other point "On the football side, he unequivocally fails WP:NFOOTY.", this seems very strange. Comucci was the head athletic instructor for Juventus, Torino F.C. and A.C. Milan, as well as one of the athletic instructors for the Italian national team in 1966, not to mention having published various books on the subject matter. So he seems to fulfill both points listed under WP:NFOOTY.

Thank you,

Oceanlugano (talk) 19:08, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

New Page Patrol December Newsletter

Hello CodeLyoko,

A chart of the 2020 New Page Patrol Queue

Year in review

It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

Rank Username Num reviews Log
1 DannyS712 bot III (talk) 67,552 Patrol Page Curation
2 Rosguill (talk) 63,821 Patrol Page Curation
3 John B123 (talk) 21,697 Patrol Page Curation
4 Onel5969 (talk) 19,879 Patrol Page Curation

8 Mccapra (talk) 4,918 Patrol Page Curation
9 Hughesdarren (talk) 4,520 Patrol Page Curation
10 Utopes (talk) 3,958 Patrol Page Curation
Reviewer of the Year

John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.

NPP Technical Achievement Award

As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

Ex N' Flex

hello,

I am trying to understand why the article was declined. I know sources are scarce with regards to the company so i was forced to rely on their website heavily. The reason for the entry is because i am heavily involved in the community of users, I have family that use a similar device. Thousands use Wiki to research new devices, companies, and other related subjects to Range of Motion therapy, yet there is almost nothing to be found. I have begun this project to put the major manufactures and companies on Wikipedia so to help those in the community looking for answers. After 10 years of experience with this stuff, i feel this is the most effective way to help those in need. Its taken me a decade as a caregiver to begin to understand the lay of the land in this field, what exists and what is available for use. If you search wiki for pacemakers, you find thousands of articles, company pages, etc with info; but in the field of ROM therapy its void of anything. While ROM therapy is not nearly as widespread as cardio problems, its unfortunate that more is not available online. As a Historian by training, i understand the need for sources but as i mentioned, the field of ROM therapy is pretty devoid of current stuff. (JSTOR has articles dating back to 1915 on the subject but most are tangential and not applicable to the modern companies in the context of their history.)

With that out of the way, I am wondering specifically how i can improve the article to get it passed your review. Is it specific language, or maybe the company history section that snagged? As I said, there is not much online about the company and most of the information i gathered was from 1 article from 1999 and a phone call i placed to the company owners to ask them some background questions. I ask because this is the first of about a half dozen companies, and a dozen different techniques or devices i want to add to Wikipedia to help fill out the ROM therapy field. Better to understand the problems now then get flagged every entry i do.

Page declined (Faegre Drinker)

Hi there,

I was wondering if I could get some more specific information on why my draft reads like an ad and what I can do to fix. I have tried to limit the references to the company website only to those that are absolutely necessary (certain biographical information, for example, doesn't seem to have been published by outside entities). I am happy to parse down certain areas; just want to know the best place to get started.

Thank you for helping a newbie! :)

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

Hi CodeLyoko! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over six months.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in six months.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|CodeLyoko|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you! Message delivered to you with love by Yapperbot :) | Is this wrong? Contact my bot operator. | Sent at 18:01, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

You have been reappointed as a trainee clerk

Hi CodeLyoko. We have readded you to the list of clerks and resubscribed you to the mailing list (info: WP:AC/C#clerks-l). Welcome back! Some changes have been made to the clerks procedures since your period of inactivity so I recommend reviewing these changes. Account creator granted

After reviewing your request for the "accountcreator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:

  • The account creator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
  • The account creator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the account creator right will result in its removal by an administrator.

If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the account creator right. Happy editing! — JJMC89(T·C) 21:18, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Query

Hello CodeLyoko, regarding the referral of questions about ArbCom blocks to the committee mailing list; could you please point me in the direction of the policy or procedure mandating this? Thankyou, --Jack Frost (talk) 21:11, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

@Jack Frost: Hi Jack, CodeLyoko is an arbitration clerk, and the section was removed at the direction of an arb and pursuant to the arbitration policy, which confers upon him authority over "administration of arbitration cases and management of all the Committee's pages and subpages". As for the discussion of ArbCom blocks, the {{ArbComBlock}} template advises that "Questions about this block should be directed to the Committee's mailing list." (That sentence is admittedly in a "sysop-show" CSS class, which may mean that you don't see it by default; viewing the source of the template reveals it.) Best, KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 21:24, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
@L235: Hi Kevin, thanks for your quick reply. So, just so I am sure I understand it; this particular query was removed under the discretion of ArbCom, as provided for under Arbitration Policy, however there is not a blanket policy regarding enquiries surrounding ArbCom blocks? Perhaps I am particularly persnickety, however I would question whether a comment directed to administrators in a block template, which is not even visible to those whom are not sysops, is a reasonable method of documenting and/or communicating this to the 'general public'. Also, for the record, I have nothing to do with either the IP or the blocked party. Thanks, --Jack Frost (talk) 23:27, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
@Jack Frost: You're right that we could probably communicate better on this. ArbCom blocks are essentially only issued when the reason for being issued is not suitable for public discussion, and so asking on-wiki is inherently ineffective. We can't constrain what users talk about on their own talk pages or other pages outside of ArbCom's jurisdiction (as long as it's otherwise within policy – this revision was RD3 revdel'd by another admin), but I don't think we ought to allow those questions where we do have jurisdiction based in the community-approved ARBPOL. Clarification of Review

Hello @CodeLyoko,

I was wondering if you could clarify which portions of the Naval Aviation Enterprise article read like an advertisement? I've been working on this article for several weeks now and have received conflicting feedback from each review.

Has there been an update to the standards for article review recently? I ask because the article for Commander, Naval Air Forces has a disclaimer which indicates the article reads like an advertisement but is still published. The article for Commander, Naval Air Forces has a brief mention on the topic of the article I submitted, so the content will have a very similar tone.

Again, I'm just looking for any additional clarification on this review.

Thank you, --AviationCommsSpecialist (talk) 15:27, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

@AviationCommsSpecialist: First off, please do not change the AFC template on the page when someone declines it, especially to someone else's username and while changing the reasoning for it being declined. Secondly, Most of the entire first section reads like something out of a advertisement, it needs to be written in a neutral point of view. There is also no disclaimer on Commander, Naval Air Forces that says that it reads like an advertisement, it only says it relies on a single source. Also taking a look at your reference again, you still have no secondary sources as most of your sources can be linked back to the US Navy or the military in some way and the PRNEWSWIRE one is likely a press release and that is not considered a reliable source. The topic very well could be notable, but you are going to need to find more secondary sources to support it. CodeLyokotalk 17:32, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

@Codelyoko,

I apologize, I did not intend to change the AFC template. When I resubmitted I was prompted with something asking me to edit the AFC. I was not familiar with it so I tried to exit the prompt without making changes. As for the sources, I know I have at least two from engineering and trade journals that I included. The vast majority of the discussion surrounding this topic is within the US Department of Defense so those are the bulk of my sources. I will keep working on the content to reduce the advertising sounding of the language and will search for additional secondary sources.

Question about your review

Hi @CodyLyoko,

This is in regards to this Draft:Lake and McHenry County Scanner that you declined today. You said, "Still does not meet WP:NNEWSPAPER." I have been working on this for a while now and I thought I had addressed all the issues in regards to it meeting WP:NNEWSPAPER standards. Could you take a look at this page under the section "Subject-specific notability." Draft:Lake and McHenry County Scanner hits multiple of the five listed in that criteria.

Could you provide some thoughts on this?

Thanks! --Samke1315 (talk) 20:51, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Music Declares Emergency

Hello. I am confused at the decision. I have referenced every entry with citations from verifiable publications or professional bodies and, as far as I can see, have been merely neutrally descriptive in comments. This is my 3rd rewrite and I would be grateful for a more specific seer where you thinks my citations are inadequate. 213.18.191.39 (talk) 09:25, 2 August 2021 (UTC)2A00:23C7:9904:4201:7D32:192F:2983:C007 (talk) 17:44, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
