Nicholas Clinch assistance

Hi, Jim. I'm brand new here. I'm Nicholas Clinch's daughter Lee. I read the articles on neutrality and verifiability and conflict of interest before posting.

Obviously I want to maintain a tone of factual neutrality. My primary concern in editing his article, which someone else started, is that it had major factual gaps. I can fill them out but referencing is a little tough. For instance:

I know when he attended Stanford because I have his diplomas. I know his family members' names because I'm one of them. I know his history with the American Alpine Club, National Geographic, and so on because I've got his papers in my garage. Also we talked about it at dinner every night for 20 years.

What should my reference approach be on basic issues such as names of his parents?

Also, I have information that probably can't be sourced in published materials, such as why he started climbing (sent to summer camp, age ten).

Your assistance is most welcome. Glad to have another mountaineer on board. BTW, it's delightful to read above references to people I know such as Jules Eichorn, Glen Dawson, and other old-school mountaineers who were my family's friends since before I was born. Coachlbridges (talk) 05:36, 10 February 2020 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:141D:9:E92:1D99:A203:AF57 (talk) 05:31, 10 February 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Coachlbridges, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Yes, I climbed with Jules Eichorn in the 1970s and have written the biographies of Glen Dawson and many other climbers associated with the Sierra Club. I was not a great climber like your father was, but merely an adequate recreational climber with a deep love for the High Sierra and its history. I compare myself to a little league baseball player working on biographies of members of the Baseball Hall of Fame. After 10-1/2 years editing this encyclopedia, I have a good understanding of how Wikipedia works, and its policies and guidelines. Everything that follows is based on a deep respect for your father's accomplishments combined with adherence to the standards of the encyclopedia.
You added his daughter's names (including your own name) and that is OK because the two of you are mentioned in your father's New York Times obituary so that information is verifiable. You also added his parent's names (your grandparents) and I have absolutely no reason to doubt you, but that information is not cited to a reliable source. I believe you personally, but how can a random reader believe you since (as far as I know) no reliable sources mention his parent's names? Please be aware that verifiability is a core content policy and is both mandatory and non-negotiable. The anecdote about his childhood illness and why he attended that summer camp is a good example of that problem. If that story is described in a reliable source about your father, then it can be included. If that story has never been published before, then I am sorry but it does not belong on Wikipedia at this time. That is because Wikipedia's integrity depends on summarizing only what has previously been published in reliable sources.
I suggest that you go through his papers that you have in your garage, and make a stack consisting of reliable, independent published sources describing your father's accomplishments and career. Those can be used as references in his Wikipedia biography. The other things, like personal correspondence, unpublished expedition memos and the like, could be used to write an article about your father's accomplishments in a reputable mountaineering journal. Once published, that article could be a source for your father's Wikipedia biography. Please do not make such additions yourself because of your conflict of interest. Work with me, and I will assist you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:41, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
Thank you so much, Jim. This is very, very helpful. It had not occurred to me to write a mountaineering journal article and use that as a source, primarily because I would be referencing myself, which seems somewhat circular. However, in his papers there are a number of articles about his career from such publications as the L.A. Times, National Geographic, and the American Alpine Club Journal. I hope one of them mentioned his time at summer camp, only because it was there that his passion for mountain climbing formed and thus I felt it was relevant to the rest of the article.
I want to avoid random anecdotes that do not serve to tell a common chronological thread about his life. Basically I'm just trying to add a modicum of context. One significant item that was cited in his awards is that he achieved his mountaineering goals despite asthma, poor eyesight, and a tendency to be underweight. Since his peers felt this was remarkable, I feel it merits brief inclusion, but only if I can source.
I will take a look through the archives and see what I can come up with and go from there. In the meantime I can delete the summer camp reference. I think his parents' names and occupations should be an easier find.
I don't know to what extent, if any, the article calls for any expansion of his major expeditions based on what was already published: for instance, other expedition members, dates, etc. Basically this would be a summary/rehash of his National Geographic articles, so it may not be useful.
FYI Lee Bridges is my name because I changed it when I married. I coach sports; hence coachlbridges.Coachlbridges (talk) 06:55, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
Hello again, Coachlbridges, and I hope that it is OK if I call you Lee. You have already displayed a much better understanding of Wikipedia's basic policies than almost all new editors I have dealt with, so I am happy to work with you.
In my opinion, Lee, it would be perfectly acceptable to summarize the articles from National Geographic if they are referenced properly. If your father was the author, they need to be used cautiously in his own biography. I have a big stack of National Geographics that I have found at antique shops and flea markets over the years, all issues with articles about mountaineering, and I have used those as references in a variety of Wikipedia articles. Your father's major expeditions were major events in his life story and more detail about those climbs is entirely appropriate. As for details about the participation of other expedition members, that might best be included in the biographies of those climbers. Expanding one Wikipedia article often leads to expanding several more. That process led me to work on improving hundreds of articles.
If, as I suggested, you actually wrote an article about your father that was published in a reliable journal, then I would be happy to add it to your father's biography. All you have to do is ask.
In conclusion, I am willing to offer whatever help you need to become a productive Wikipedia editor, and I thank you for contributing. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:39, 10 February 2020 (UTC)

Do you bold your username because you are an admin?

I'm wondering if admins on wikipedia always have bolded usernames --Disoff (talk) 21:34, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Disoff. There is no connection between my custom signature and the fact that I am an administrator. I had that signature for several years before I became an administrator. Many administrators have standard signatures. It is entirely a matter of personal preference. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:11, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine

Hello Jim:

I am also named Jim. Grew up in southern Illinois near St. Louis, practiced in New Mexico for 33 years, and now working at the University of Bridgeport for the past 15 years. Since 2013, I have served as the program director for the chiropractic neuromusculoskeletal medicine residency, which offers evaluation and management services, clinical training, and research within Federally Qualified Health Centers in Connecticut.

At this time, I serve as the program director of the neuromusculoskeletal medicine residency offered by the University of Bridgeport, School of Chiropractic Medicine. This is the second attempt at edification of the neuromusculoskeletal medicine article. I offered references in the past with the first redaction. Recently, someone removed my redaction. Hence, I attempted correcting the article. It is untrue that only osteopaths offer neuromusculoskeletal medicine or provide neuromusculoskeletal medicine residencies as claimed in the article.

Here are references that support my statements regarding chiropractic neuromusculoskeletal medicine training and credentialing.

I would appreciate your assistance with this edification process.

Diff I couldn't find yesterday

Hi C. This is the diff where the editor stated their intention to appeal. Not expecting it'll change anything, just wanted to close the loop on that cuz I couldn't find it when we were talking yesterday. Cheers, Levivich 17:36, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Levivich, and thanks for the diff. What might change things would be an actual appeal of my block (or the topic ban) by the blocked editor. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:46, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi Jim,

Thanks so much for keeping me on track on Abraham Lincoln#Health. I was not at my best that day and I appreciate it!

I updated the Health of Abraham Lincoln article. If you have an interest and a bit of time, it would be great if you could check it out and see if anything jumps out at you that should be corrected.

If you are too busy with real life or other Wikipedia activities, I totally get it!

Hello, CaroleHenson. The discussion of "blue pills" is contradictory and confusing. Have you read "Abraham Lincoln's Blue Pills: Did Our 16th President Suffer from Mercury Poisoning?" which appears (at least from reading the abstract) to be an excellent source? I am by no means an expert in Lincoln's health but I think I know enough to detect what is strong and proven as opposed to what is weak and speculative. The syphilis stuff was not impressive to me. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:05, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
Thanks so much. I will work on the Blue Pills. When you say contradictory - do you mean that it's claimed by some to be a treatment for constipation, and then someone else for mood, and another for syphilis? I thought I looked through that article. I will look again more closely and work on that section.
I am not sure the point about the syphilis info. Are you saying that there should be more pro/con info?–CaroleHenson (talk) 06:13, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
Yes, the article implies that he did not take blue mass (at least for one reason) but then later states that he did take it (according to his gossipy legal colleagues) for another reason. And anyone reading blue mass will immediately notice that it was an old syphilis "treatment". I suspect that the full journal article would clarify the question somewhat, but I do not have access to it.
The syphilis content should be based on reliable secondary sources, rather than weak primary sources like Herndon, who tended to sensationalize things to sell books. That was my observation at the main biography. We don't need false equivalency between strong and weak sources. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:28, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, that helps a lot!–CaroleHenson (talk) 07:30, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Second edit?

In a thread on WP:Great Dismal Swamp which was closed, you mentioned a user's second edit being opening a RfC. I often count wrong but for me, the user's second edit was creating a userpage, in 2018. Newbie? Change username? Really? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:37, 14 March 2020 (UTC)

I must admit I was rather confused by user name stuff as well. I saw nothing that violated policy, though I could of missed something. PackMecEng (talk) 23:01, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
Hello, Gerda Arendt. The RfC on the article talk page in question was started by User:Intothenight1987 as their second edit. Hello, PackMecEng. In my opinion, "Thatstinkyguy" is a username intended to troll and provoke. That is my opinion. Thanks to both of you for your input, as always. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:38, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
Sorry about missing that you talked about a different user. I am no friend of the TSG user name, and I think if you address them in a friendly way and tell them how that can be done, they might even follow. I don't know if you read my new year's resolutions, on my talk page, - I don't go around ;) - Key sentenc: "... that good faith and IAR are applied more generally". I met TGS when their lengthy message on a user talk, trying to make contact, was deleted by the user. That's not applying good faith. I watched the TGS edits that day, which culminated in a lengthy complaint on a - the wrong - noticeboard and the message to C. "You win. I quit." - All this would not have happened had TGS been treated as an editor, not as a troll, or as someone in battle (assuming sent by me, I guess). AGF. People instructed by me avoid the article in question, period. ... and also avoid drama boards, and also avoid more than one ping per day to the same user. There were some good conversations on Floq's talk page that day, in case of interest. Perhaps you also could mediate a bit? - My last entry to the SK page was a comment in the last RfC, and only because I was pinged. I try to ignore these timesinks. My work is focused on Recent deaths, did you know? The last one is on the Main page right now, quite a character with a dramatic bio shaped by the East-West conflict. If only the little conflict(s) here could also be put to peace ... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:22, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
Update: The user name was changed ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:15, 15 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi, you said that...

..."It is original research for any editor to write that this novel virus is the same in this specific regard as the earlier viruses described in the literature, and therefore sources published before December, 2019 should be excluded from this article"

No one is talking about SARS-CoV-2. The debate at the article is on the claim of the church that the Cup is sterile, since the wine somehow God himself, literally. A 1998 scientific publication says that it is not sterile and bacteria or viruses can pass from person to person. (and cites other scientific articles/experements). That's why the sentence I am proposing is not about the novel Coronovirus. It is about the ritual of Common Cup. Cheers, Cinadon36 16:15, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Cinadon36. The article in question is about the 2020 coronavirus outbreak in Greece. I assume that there is also a more general article about Greek Orthodox communion health controversies where the 1998 article would be appropriate as a reference. But there is no way under the sun that the 1998 article is appropriate in an article about the outbreak of a virus discovered in 2019. Please use reliable 2020 sources only in this specific article. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:25, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
Pinging Cinadon36. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:26, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
There is no article in question, it is a sentence that is in question. The sentence is "viruses or bacteria can be transmitted through the Cup" (or paraphrased). You may argue that it does not belong to the article about the new coronavirus, but I can not get why you claim it is OR, since the claim is based on the citing article. Cinadon36 16:34, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
I thought I had been clear but I will emphasize: You cannot use a 1998 source in an article about the outbreak of a virus first discovered in 2019. Use 2020 sources. Please drop the stick and move on. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 21:28, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello, ToBeFree. Thanks for stopping by. I guess this has to do with the New Years Coffee Jewish List kerfuffle. Honestly, I had forgotten all about your involvement, so I read that discussion again. Yeah, you and I got a little bit snarky with each other toward the end, but I have absolutely no gripe with you whatsoever. What I do appreciate more than you can know is you coming here to my talk page with your apology, even though it was not necessary. My business, my family and my future has been upended by this horrid pandemic, and every little word of kindness is truly welcomed. So, please stay well and I wish you the best. Perhaps we can collaborate on an article or two sometime when things calm down. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:08, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
Oh my. I am relieved to hear that the on-wiki situation is resolved amicably – thanks for the kind acceptance of the apology – but I'm saddened about the effects of the pandemic. When there is "economy" in the news, I think most people including me think of large businesses. What we fail to notice is that the actual harm happens to family businesses, not banks. I wish you and your family all the best, and hope that the permanent effects of this situation are manageable somehow. Best regards, ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:26, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
ToBeFree, I know many people in the restaurant business locally, and their revenue has dropped 60% to 80% in a matter of days. As for professional musicians and sound engineers and stagehands, their business has gone from great to zero almost instantly. It is brutal. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:06, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

Thank you, BlackcurrantTea. My immediate family is hunkered down in our Northern California home, with an adequate supply of food, so we are doing OK. Andy Dingley block

Having looked even more closely at the history here and at the complaint which led to this block, the "disruptive editing" in question was this which is clearly nothing of the kind. I'm strongly inclined to lift this block as it seems fairly clearly out-of-process (there's no indication that Andy Dingley actually saw your warning, and even if he did that edit can't possibly be construed as disruptive). Do you have any objections to my lifting the block? ‑ Iridescent 10:03, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

In case you haven't seen, I've unblocked Andy Dingley. If I have my time zones right it's 2AM where you are so I think it's reasonable to assume you won't be active for some hours, and it seems unfair to me to leave him blocked when the grounds for the block appear fairly questionable and don't appear to be serving any useful preventative purpose. ‑ Iridescent 10:52, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

mobile editing

Hi Jim. I hope you are doing well. Lately, I have been experiencing some changes in wikipedia interface of mobile editing. I am not sure if it just my out of date browser on my tablet, or if everybody is facing the same problem; so I wanted to ask you. It has been on n off since last few days. Like, I cant edit a subsection in mainspace, or of article talk. Have you observed it on mobile? Kindly ping me while replying. Regards, —usernamekiran (talk) 18:34, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Usernamekiran. Although I edit 99% of the time on Android smartphones, I do not use the mobile site. I find the desktop site to be fully functional and much less buggy on my phone. So, my general suggestion is to try the desktop site on your tablet. The only problem I have noticed recently is that pages are loading a bit slower, especially the main coronavirus pandemic article. My hunch is that is due to heavy traffic. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:45, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response Jim. Yeah, thats what I am doing to get around it. I mean, I am switching to desktop mode, then click on the "edit" of that particular subsection, and then switch to mobile view again. But the edit option in mobile view comes, and goes. I used to think the COVID articles are slower to load because of the maps, charts, and other template transclusions but traffic can be issue as well. Thanks again for the reply. It is appreciated a lot. See you around —usernamekiran (talk) 20:52, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Rush (band)

Your recent revision: Would this be a reliable source? https://www.psacard.com/cardfacts/hockey-cards/1984-o-pee-chee/steve-shutt-272/147653 for the Steve Shutt reference? Thanks BigJoeRockHead (talk) 01:50, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello, BigJoeRockHead. I am sorry, but in my opinion, that is not a reliable source. It is a commercial business that rates collectible sports cards for money. They have a financial interest in making these items look more interesting and appealing to buyers. I am not saying that the information is false, but a better source is needed. A book about Rush issued by a reputable publisher would be a better source. Please consult the Reliable sources noticeboard if you want other opinions. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:38, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

Frank Van Dersarl

Good evening and thank you for your response to my earlier efforts and frustration.

I am 75 years old now but met Frank when I was about 19. I do not believe that he has ever been acknowledged sufficiently for his contributions to aviation and I am writing a biography to change that. I penned a short article about Frank for Wikipedia but it was rejected as I cannot site reliable sources. There are no sources. Little has been written about this great man and that is what I am trying to correct. There are two threads to Frank in Wikipedia and they are wrong. Somehow Harry Combs is biographed in Wikipedia but Frank is not. It is said that Combs built an airplane called the VAMP when he was sixteen. That's simply not true. VAMP was an acronym for "VanDersarl Aeroplane Motor Products" and it was Frank who built that airplane. In a taped interview Frank said that when Combs saw the performance of the VAMP he wanted it. Harry Combs did fly the airplane and he destroyed it on the runway at Pueblo, Colorado.

Since my recollections cannot be published as a Wikipedia article this man must be pushed off to nowhere. As far as I know there are only two other living people who knew him to any extent and they are his grandson and the man who introduced me to Frank and was later my first flight instructor. But it seems that if I was interviewed by say Douglas Brinkley and he then wrote on article based on my memories, that would be publishable. This is stupid.

It was also claimed that Frank was not notable. In 1910, when Frank was 15, he and his brother Jules built a Bleriot XI and flew it east of Denver in 1912. In the 1980s Frank and his other brother John started building a replica of that airplane. They did not get it done but it was eventually finished and today is on display at the National Air and Space Museum at Chantilly, Virginia.

I owe this man a great deal. He first taught me how to run a drill press, a lathe, a milling machine and the importance of cutting oil. He taught me how to run a cutting torch and to stick weld. My life today is vastly better because of the time I spent with Frank Van Dersarl.

Hello, Durangofox. We have an article Blériot XI that already discusses the plane that Jules and Frank Van Dersarl built. That article says "VanDersarl Bleriot on display at the National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, VA. It was built by teenage brothers Jules and Frank VanDersarl of Denver, Colorado. Beginning in 1909, the brothers constructed the aircraft from scratch, including the engine, leading to successful flights with no prior flight instruction in June, 1911. It was successfully restored and flown by Javier Arrango in 2011." Anybody who types "Frank Van Dersarl" into the Wikipedia search box can find that article.
I do not know why you think that it is relevant that you are 75. I am 68 and I do my best to follow Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Anything that you or me or anyone else adds to this encyclopedia must summarize a published reliable source. That is the essential feature that gives Wikipedia credibility with readers. Without that policy, Wikipedia would soon become a swamp of personal anecdotes, advertising, lies, hatred and crank theories. What you call "stupid" without thinking through the implications is actually essential to Wikipedia's success.
So, do you have a question for me? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:24, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
As for Harry B. Combs, he was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame, and his biography includes four references to reliable sources that devote significant coverage to his life. If you can find references of similar quality about Frank Van Dersarl, then I could help you write a biography of him. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:33, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

HELP A WOULD BE CONTRIBUTOR

Hi Jim, I am trying to get a feel for Wikipedia but got stuck trying to create a page for "The Hollywood Blvd. Commercial and Entertainment District". I was wondering if you had any advice for me other than the whole quoting of the article submission criteria.

Hello, Jack Fangles. Please read Wikipedia:Signatures and try to get into the habit of signing your talk page posts with four tildes. The draft we are discussing is Draft:Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District.
The most important advice I can give you is that finding and referencing high-quality reliable sources that devote significant coverage to the topic is essential. It is the most important factor and the second most important and the third most important factor in writing an acceptable Wikipedia article. Everything else pales in comparison. High quality sources are gold on Wikipedia.
So, I've found a source for you that devotes significant coverage to the Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District. It is a book published by Rutgers University Press called Writing America: Literary Landmarks from Walden Pond to Wounded Knee (A Reader's Companion). So, format that as a reference and add it to the draft. Currently, your draft says very little other than that this district exists and is listed on the NRHP. You can summarize what the book says about the boundaries of the district and the various architectural styles still found there. You can also search for similar high quality sources yourself, and use those to expand the draft. I hope this helps. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:15, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

Thank you! That really helps. Would this also be an acceptable source to cite? https://www.hollywoodheritage.org/on-the-boulevard Jack Fangles (talk) 01:38, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Jack Fangles, that's published by the Hollywood Heritage Museum, a small but legitimate museum that has been around for a long time. So, I would consider it a reliable source unless I saw evidence that they falsify things, which I consider unlikely. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:52, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Please help

Trying to avoid problems. Please see the admin help request on my talk. This involves SurVision Magazine. The article has a history of promo editing, and, well, the edit summaries are self explanatory. I'm at 3rr, I think he crossed it. John from Idegon (talk) 17:28, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello, John from Idegon. I left a note on the other editor's talk page. Please let me know if there are any further problems. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:50, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, Jim. Appreciate that. John from Idegon (talk) 17:54, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
NPA 1, NPA 2, plus the EW continues]. Might want to block me too, that's fine. I nominated the article for deletion. You're right, that's a better route. John from Idegon (talk) 20:16, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Tweaked userpage

Hello there, Jim. On your userpage, I added Impact of the 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic on the meat industry in the United States to your list of articles you started. :) (I should get more active on here in my spare time, if I need advice on things like how and where to find and revert vandalism, etc. I know where to find you. Cheers!) DrewieStewie (talk) 00:35, 23 April 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, DrewieStewie, I appreciate it. I've been so busy expanding that article that I haven't had time to add it to my list. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:40, 23 April 2020 (UTC)

Thank you

Thanks for blocking the jimbo Wales user. The vandal, I mean. New3400 (talk) 17:28, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

You are welcome, New3400. That was not a difficult decision to make. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:30, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Can you nuke his edits, its, disturbing. New3400 (talk) 17:32, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

I believe all the edits have been reverted, New3400. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:34, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
no, I mean nuked. Like he put a pic of an, disturbing female on the article. New3400 (talk) 17:36, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
It is a photo of a woman with steatopygia. The editor was using the photo in an inappropriate way, and I blocked the account for a trolling, profane username and for childish vandalism. But I am not going to revdelete those edits just because you find them disturbing. They are all reverted. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:46, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Your correcting the page title from ‘Khotso Sethunsa’ to ‘Khotso Sethuntsa’

Hi Jim, just wanted to say ‘Good on yer’—as older Aussies still say here—for making this correction! I have made a few corrections to random pages over several years; but still only in single digits—so I could be fairly described as a ‘dilettante’ editor. And I needed that page title corrected, having made a couple minor edits in the text in October last year; but it's been bugging me ever since that I was unable to fix the page title! In case you're wondering WHY I wanted to get the name of a ‘medicine man’ correct, it‘s because this Khotso guy (called an inyanga or sangoma in various Bantu languages in southern Africa), is that my late mother's memoirs ‘A Brush with Life’ devotes a para or two about this amazing man. And I'm planning to create a page on her in Wikipedia's ‘List of South African women artists’. I have completed the design and editing of this book, and now need to find a suitable ‘print on demand’ publisher… Finally, the reason that I had failed to conclude my post with four tildes was that I neglected to first hit the Shift button, and so signed with four ‘graves’! Need a help

Can you help me to make biography article of a famous artist of Bangladesh Ra Fid75 (talk) 18:22, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Ra Fid75. I see that you wrote a draft about Nafeez Al Amin that was deleted, at least in part, as a copyright violation. So, the first thing I need to tell you is never copy content from somewhere else to Wikipedia, except for brief quotations which are properly attributed to a reliable source. Repeated copyright violations may lead to a block of your account. I suggest that you read Your first article. Read it and study it carefully. If you have any personal connection with Nafeez Al Amin, then please also follow the guideline about conflict of interest. If you have specific questions after reading all of that, please feel free to ask. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 18:39, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

Need some help !

Actually I have made a draft called Draft:THE SAINT AND THE MOUSE ! . I made it for children's story .so, I just want you to help me editing that .I mean just make it correct if there is anything wrong . Tanisha priyadarshini (talk) 06:41, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Tanisha priyadarshini. It is not appropriate to simply re-tell a story from a book as a Wikipedia article. An article about a notable book must describe the book in detail, and normally will be based on published reviews of the book. Your draft does not give the name of the book, or its author, publisher, publication date and so on. You do give an ISBN number but I can find no record that this number is assigned to a published book. So, I am not sure this book exists.
This raises doubts about your ability to be a productive encyclopedia editor. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:48, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
Just a follow-up: user blocked per Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Tanisha priyadarshini. —usernamekiran (talk) 22:07, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the update, Usernamekiran. Sad but unsurprising. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:37, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

I need some help

I wanted to post a suggestion/discussion starter for a main photo change on the article of Rod Steiger through the article's talk page. Here's the revision I put in: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Rod_Steiger&oldid=955568624. I thought it was a-ok, but unfortunately, it was removed for this reason: "you were warned about this and you agreed not to stoke up fires. Go and edit the other million odd articles there are out there. Thing is, I was never warned to not post discussions like this (I was warned not to do so for infoboxes, but this is a picture. Not a box.) and I was not trying to start trouble, I was merely trying to present a suggestion and help out a little here. I posted some of my concerns to the Help Desk here, but the user (I'll use initials) SC responded to me saying this. I didn't think posting on an article's talk page would be considered directly interacting with someone. I meant this as a broad question, not to any specific people. I said I would drop it and apologized, but I still don't feel that what I posted on the talk page deserved to come down. I know this may seem extreme, but it honestly seems like I'm just getting forcefully silenced. Please help. StrangeloveFan101 (talk) 20:27, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

StrangeloveFan101, in your unblock request, you agreed to avoid interacting with Cassianto, and also to "not starting anymore trouble". It looks to me like you are trying to start trouble with Cassianto, and all I can say is that this looks like a bad idea to me. I suggest that you move on and do some productive work to improve the encyclopedia elsewhere. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:51, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
I will just move on before I make things escalate. Causing trouble with the post on the talk page or with others was never my intention at all. I will say this however, I think C got the wrong idea about what I was trying to do. Anyhow, like I said, I'm just gonna move past this. Thanks for taking time to respond. StrangeloveFan101 (talk) 21:37, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Dr. Wiliam Longshaw

I have two uploads that I have of my cousin's birth. He is my 4th cousin, 4 times removed. His name is Dr. William Longshaw. He was born in Russell Street, Manchester, Lancashire England on April 1836 and emigrated to the United States of America with his parents (William and Margaret from the Port of Liverpool, Lancashire England to New work arriving March 31, 1842 on board the ship 'Siberia) see Census England, Passenger List Arrival at New York March 31 1842, 1850 and 1860. U.S. Federal Census and U.S. State Census for Lowell,Massachusetts. I have photocopies of the census from Manchester, England 1841. William senior was 30 years old, Margaret 25 years old. William was 5 year old.

I have the 1841 census for William and his parents. They left from Liverpool Lancashire England to New York March 31, 1842Longshaw (talk) 22:31, 9 May 2020 (UTC) Lorraine Longshaw Harrietha

Hello, Longshaw. As I told you at the Teahouse, the proper place to discuss this matter is Talk:William Longshaw Jr. Why is it that you are not participating in that discussion? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:44, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Understanding of an error on my draft article.

As as I see you have asked me to give my relation with the author of whom I was writing the article. Kindly note that I have just a friendly relation to the author's friend, meaning that she is a mutual friend of mine. That is why my friend asked me to write this article and so I am doing it. I don't understand where do I have to explain this and how do I remove the error as I dont oblige to any payments for writing the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rachit.edunomics (talkcontribs) 09:17, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Rachit.edunomics. I suggest that you click on your redlinked signature, and follow the directions to start your userpage. Disclose your relationship to the author's friend there. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:29, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
