Good articles[edit]

I would like to ask you to get acquainted with the quality standards for good articles, because I have reason to believe you have not read this article. - Ilse@ 04:19, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I second this suggestion - as an editor with articles up for GA I *expect* valid constructive criticism, even severe valid constructive criticism based on the above quality standards/criteria. The reason for this is that GA is often a prelude for going to FA. I know past GAs I have been associated with have gone through considerable development during the process that has made them far more suitable FA candidates. Simply passing them denies the editors of the article that opportunity (and may mean that articles that really shouldn't progress at all in their present form, could well end up clogging up the FA process). Aye, some of these articles might be iffy, and it would help defend yourself to provide a bit more justification for passing in your passes :/. Homestarmy 02:35, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

True![edit]

You are amazing. Your second day in and you are able to assess article quality and assign it a rank. Congratulations, by the way, the CEO of Fred corporation has appointed you as his media relations officer. You can start collecting your salary now (if you are 21 or over). This position is a long term one, unlike your changes. Sincerely, President Fred

Ha ha[edit]

Okay, I hope everyone has had a good laugh now at my expense. The Good articles candidates page said there was a backlog that needed attention. I looked at all the articles I passed and felt they were sufficiently mature and generally met requirements. Remember GA is not A or FA. Well taken however that I may have made a couple mistakes as obviously with the Singapore Election article. I'm excited about my CEO job. When do I start? Da54 16:46, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It needed attention of experienced Wikipedia editors, and for someone that made no other edits (28) rather than "passing" articles (joined Wikipedia on January 17), I recommend you to read Help:Contents and edit some other articles for a while first to avoid controversies.

Not saying you can't pass these articles, but your inexperience + insufficient reason given is not helping. AQu01rius (User • Talk) 01:06, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA Sweeps invitation[edit]

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive[edit]

WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hope we can see you in April.
