PD-India gov

history of pakistan images

I added the images earlier with little notice as to copyright problems. Since then I have been more careful as to what images I add and I went through and deleted and changed the images whenever possible. Unfortunately that means removing some cool images, but nothing I can do about that now. Tombseye 20:16, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

Deletion

No, non admins cannot delete images. I've speedied the deletion request as 1) It is a copyvio and 2) the deletion was requested by the uploader. Otherwise the normal procedure is to list it through WP:IFD. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 03:56, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

Malwa

I am not sure there is a precise definition of Malwa's geography. For example, www.britannica.com defines Malwa as "an historic province comprising a large portion of eastern Madhya Pradesh state and parts of southeastern Rajasthan state, west central India. Strictly, the name is confined to the hilly tableland bounded on the south by the Vindhya Range, but it has been extended to include the Narmada Valley."

The 1911 version defines it as "an historic province of India, which has given its name to one of the political agencies into which Central India is divided. Strictly, the name is confined to the hilly table-land, bounded south by the Vindhyan range, which drains north into the river Chambal; but it has been extended to include the Nerbudda valley farther south."

It seems that as "traditionally" defined, of Malwa is bounded on the south by the Vindhya Ranges. The region to the south of the Vindhyas, in the lower Narmada valley, is Nimar. I think it was during the British period that the name was extended into Nimar; The state of Indore controlled much of the Nimar region, and the British Malwa Agency included a number of states in Nimar , after it was merged with Bhopawar.

If one defines Malwa region as Britannica does (the hilly tableland north of the Vindhyas that drains north into the Chambal), then the drainages of the Kali Sind and Betwa rivers would be part of Bundelkhand, which would put Guna District at the eastern edge of Malwa region. Jagjivan Ram

Hi, it is great to see you working almost alone on the INCOTW with a lot of energy, enthusiasm and effort. Right now, I am not in a position to work on any article for long but I'd also add to the article in the next 2-3 days. I'm planning to work on his son's sex scandal and its impact on his prime-ministerial ambitions. btw, you may want to add references to the stuff you've added asap - later, it may be difficult to track all sources. [1] and [2] may have some additional info on Jagjivan Ram.[3], [4] seem to be PD images to me. I think we can ask for [5] this one and any other images they may have. [6] has a book-cover image which is definitely a fair-use image and seems to be the best of the lot. I guess [7] and [8] are copyrighted and that it is difficult to get them into PD. [9] can no longer be used as fair-use unless the article is about the stamp. You've been doing great work and I see that Pamri has beaten me to it in giving you a barnstar.
