Gabor wavelet

The first version of the article said "SWWw��IQ(I�(QWW��(��(��#" (at least it did on my screen), and the second version was simply a link to the Institut für Neuroinformatik's web page. Deletion of Stronghold Kingdoms

Hello, you recently (about 9 hours ago) deleted this article and gave the reason as being 'an article which does not indicate the importance of [...]'. I agree with that, however when I left the article last night (to go to sleep), I was in the middle of a discussion with Wyatt Riot about whether or not the article should be deleted. Not sure whether you saw it and exactly what happened once I left, but I would have liked to have been allowed a little more time to continue discussion and possibly add a bit to the article if no one else was going to. By citing the sources that I mentioned on the talk page I think that the article would satisfy the criteria under which you deleted it, so I consider it a shame if it isn't given a chance. Rush Hour Rules

Dear 'Discospinster'.

It would be great if you offered some words of advice to help new users, instead of just deleting their entries. I'm only human and trying very hard to work out how to use the Wikipedia tools and processes, and all I get is someone else trying to delete my first entry!!!

I'm terribly sorry it doesn't meet your high standards (and yes, they are YOUR standards, as no-one else is trying to delete my words, and you can interpret the 'guidelines' in a number of different ways... and they are guidelines after all, not laws set in stone)!

Whatever happened to Wikipedia being created by the people for the people? I remember when it had a lot more freedom of expression, and less militant word-snobs on cyber-bully power trips.

Does my article hurt anyone? Does it tell any lies? Does it conflict with any other entires?

The subject matter may not yet be in the same league as Harry Potter or Sherlock Holmes, but it's on course to become that way. Why shouldn't this book be included in the site? Surely if something is already famous, no-one would need to look it up in the first place!

I've stumbled across a lot of awful entries in my time, short one-liners about some random village in the middle-of-nowhere, etc. Yet, I've never been obnoxious enough to think my view is more important than the contributor's view.

I hope you will read this note and offer me some suggestions on how I can improve my site, instead of just nominating it for deletion and sending me a link to some guidelines.

Jon Schreiber

You recently deleted the page "Jon Schreiber", untruthfully citing (G3: Vandalism) as your reason for deletion. In its "Criteria for Speedy Deletion" section, Wikipedia describes pure vandalism as "blatant and obvious misinformation." I can assure you that this is not the case. Jon is idolized by children in the Boston area for his skills on the soccer field, but he is a hero in the homosexual community for the courage he has shown in his decision to publicly announce his homosexuality in the prime of his career. Even in the face of ridicule and discrimination, Schreiber has always been the consummate professional. He has used his local celebrity status as an elite athlete to help raise awareness of homosexuality in sports, and in doing so has transformed Boston into a city that is more accepting of homosexuals. Perhaps you are not familiar with this remarkable young man, or maybe you have simply confused him with another Jon Schreiber who has not accomplished half of what this one has. However, my fear is that you are one of the growing number of people in this world who believe that there is no place for homosexuals on Wikipedia. I hope for everyone's sake that this is not the case but regardless, I am asking you to correct your unfortunate oversight by restoring this article. After all, it would be a shame if the public was denied its chance to learn about this incredible human being.

You deleted someone's article for lack of meaningful content. I wish you hadn't, finding a scrap of info on this laptop is impossible. Something would have been better than nothing. Does it feel good to delete articles? You addressed the issue in your opening paragraph. I should also point out that your assertion that "finding a scrap of info on this laptop is impossible" is precisely the reason that the article should be deleted. WP:Hornbook -- a new law-related task force for the J.D. curriculum

Hi Discospinster/Archive16,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)

Working on meeting notable criteria for a biography

Hi. "Someone else" put a speedy delete tag on http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Edstat/Patricia_Sawilowsky&diff=305095641&oldid=305083444, which is a biography of a living person who is the president-elect of the United States Jewish War Veterans Women's Auxiliary, an organization dedicated to provided assistant to Jewish veterans. I was in the middle of providing sources, and hadn't got to working on the notability part. I see that you removed the speedy delete tag and improved the article regarding the categories. However, soon thereafter the original "someone else" deleted the page anyway.

I would like to continue working on the article, particularly with regard to meeting the notoriety requirement. It would be helpful to me if I could get your thoughts on why you removed the speedy deletion tag.

Copyvio images

Hello DS, could you take a look at this guy's user page? Except for a few images, the rest are blatant copyvios as he had admitted in the image summary that he had scanned them before uploading for reuse here on Wikipedia. Nassir Haramein

I don't have a lot of time to discuss or argue with you. I am curious as to why you don't want Nassir Haramein listed in Wikipedia. If you did your homework, you would see that he has been peer-reviewed and has recently won a "best paper" award recognized by many authorities.

There is a lot of recognition given to Mr Haramein and much of what he has done "scientifically" has been acknowledged by individuals like Dr Stephen Hawking and Dr Elizabeth Rauscher.

To suggest that this man is not a "published" and/or highly recognized individual is incorrect and ignorant.

I am not Nassir Haramein - so the "may be an autobiography" claim is completely false.

A mollion dollar paradox

I understand your concerns and respect your decision but I have a few points that you may like to consider before taking a final decision.

This is not a new theory. All the facts can easily be verified from the Wiki's own internal links provided in the article.

In any case, there is no new proposal from the author that have to be published. All the proposals are part of well-established theory as pointed out by Zetawoof.

I have personally read the book, "Nature of Reality' and its not a self-published book.

Zetawoof suggests that position of the sun and the moon are exactly in the same way as the refraction of light.

This exactly is the point author is highlighting. As shown in the Wiki's atmospheric refraction page, there is a difference in the actual position of the sun and its apparent position. The light still must come from actual position of the sun as it can refract only after it enters the atmosphere.

Zetowoof's observationa only supported the arguments of the author.

This is why it is a paradox. One cannot find any logical problem and therefore one does not disagree with the existing theory and yet if the current theory is correct then we have a situation that we cannot have and we do not have in reality.

I have carefully noted the policies of the Wiki and I fail to see how it violates any policy or how it does not meet any of the requirements of the Wiki.

The objection pointed out only supports the paradox.

A paradox is never considered a new theory and therefore cannot be classified as original research. I have read another article of the author on the total solar eclipse and even though observations are mroe significant in that article yet keeping in mind the WIKi policies, it is not proper to include it as it marks new research but the paradox cannot be termed as new or original research. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Explorer2909 (talk • contribs) 11:52, 5 September 2009 (UTC)


Z-Clan Deletion

Hi DiscoSpinster You deleted an article I had written with title Z-Clan with the reason A7; which I presume elludes to "An article about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (e.g. band, club, company, etc., except schools), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant".


A few examples of Wiki articles that I have found in just a couple of minutes that seem fall well short of A7 are these:

I'm not saying that these should be deleted at all but there seems to be no consistancy. I can't see anything important or significant in any of these where as Z-Clan Own, operate and administer the top ranked gaming servers in the world in their field.


Could you please help me understand what the requirement would be to fullfill this criteria in this instance ?
