War in Afghanistan (2001–present)

Can you please keep an eye on user Nickfelds please as far i can tell he has breached 3RR today but without using the undo tool, he just used edit instead and has not been blocked also i cannot revert last addition or i will breach 3RR on the War in Afghanistan (2001–present) article.

I have recently left a note on his talk page regarding what references he has to make the change but have recieved no reply, by looking at his contrib's he only edits that one page with the same edit and mostly edits late at night/very early mornings with no edit summaries.

DON'T DELETE ADDITIONS BEFORE CHECKING YOUR FACTS ELSEWHERE

Not sure why you think that a novelist with three crime novels listed on Amazon, Waterstone's, and websites worldwide should be excluded on grounds of notability! If you believe that an author is notable enough to be listed, then it's up to you to provide evidence of that. Merely adding a name to a list doesn't tell us anything. Being featured on a bookselling website does not mean that the author is notable, it just means that s/he has a book for sale. If the legal handbook is a best seller then there should be some sources showing that (and not just press releases or the author's autobiography). Hi, There are a huge number of female detective characters in this Wikipedia list which are also recently published and yet have authors who are unknown in any other field, so how do you decide to include them and not others? Celia Conrad is rather prominent on the web if you look, with many photographs of her, about her legal publications and submissions to Parliament etc. Legal handbooks certainly may be judged bestsellers when in the third edition, which you can see by looking the book up, and these sorts of books are not like 'popular fiction' and so don't appear in lists. Nobody would publish a handbook in updated enlarged editions if the book had not sold well the first and second times!

All of the other entries in the list are written by an author that already has a Wikipedia article. One's presence on the Web doesn't determine notability either; the criteria are that the subject has been significantly discussed in multiple reliable sources, or, in the case of an author, the criteria can be found at WP:AUTHOR (it basically has to do with significance in the field, wide influence, etc. -- in other words, being considered to be notable by others). As for the legal handbook, if it doesn't appear on any lists of best sellers, how can it be claimed to be best selling? Note also that "writing a best selling book", by itself, is not sufficient to meet the notability criteria. ... discospinster _talk 02:01, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

I find that your reasons that they be significantly discussed in other media quite irrational in an encyclopaedia, as either someone is a female fictional detective or they are not, and not every character listed here is attached to those that have a Wikipedia article already. We do not live in an entirely media-commentated world, and because a character was in a TV series should not mean it worthy of inclusion either. I would therefore delete the following which you seem to think worthy of inclusion:

• Samantha Adams is an investigative reporter in Atlanta debuted 1988 in a book series by Sarah Shankman, first two books published under pseudonym 'Alice Storey'. BY YOUR CRITERIA, SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED
• Finny Aletter is a stockbroker in two books 1987 and 1990 by Yvonne Montgomery.BY YOUR CRITERIA, SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED
• Kate Banning is a former journalist, now editor, in Nashville, in three country music-themed mysteries 1997-1999 by Cecilia Tishy.BY YOUR CRITERIA, SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED
• Charlotte Bronte, the author, sleuths in a series by Laura Joh Rowland, commenced 2008.BY YOUR CRITERIA, SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED and I don't think a famous author referenced by a hardly known writer counts either.
• Clarice Dyke is an early female detective, created in 1888 as the wife of an existing detective character, by 'Harry Rookwood'.BY YOUR CRITERIA, SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED
• Ruth Traill is the first female detective in English fiction, in a penny-dreadful of 1862, by Edward Ellis.BY YOUR CRITERIA, SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED

Where are these author's entries not linked on the Wikipedia? I think your deletion criteria is on these grounds unjustified, and the entries, to be truly encyclopaedic, should therefore include characters who have appeared in all fictional works no matter how 'notable' an editor here thinks them, which makes it highly personal and hardly notable 'by others'.

If you think it needs changes, the place to discuss those changes is the related talkpage, Wikipedia talk:Notability (people), not here. If you disagree with its application in specific cases such as you list above that should be discussed either on the respective talkpages or on Wikipedia:Notability/Noticeboard. Discospinster, Nobody is shouting, and I am not a talk page stalker! I am emphasizing the inconsistency YOU are displaying in this notability policy - or should one say 'policing'. If there is any point to Wikipedia it is that ordinary mortals can increase the sum of human knowledge, and I am pointing out that there are at least 6 entries here that by the criteria of notability you seem to apply ought not to be there...and if you allow those, then why not others which should be included, on the evidence supplied amply online. I simply added a really good fictional female detective in a published trilogy that readers of the Wikipedia looking up crime fiction ought to know about; it does not seem right that the principles of the Wikipedia should be applied to what you alone think is suitable and notable. I note you are not in the UK, but in Canada, so you perhaps have not been in a public library here in the UK and browsed shelves of crime fiction and found any fresh fictional female detectives recently. The UK fiction market is somewhat different from that in Canada or the USA. I don't have a problem with Wikipedia's notability policy per se, but with the fact that you seem to think you alone have the right to decide against what other users think should be included but are inconsistent.

I didn't say you were a talk page stalker, that template is used for self-identification, as I (LeadSongDog) did. The excessive use of allcaps and excessive bolding, such as your "BY YOUR CRITERIA, SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED" and your "DON'T DELETE ADDITIONS BEFORE CHECKING YOUR FACTS ELSEWHERE", is indeed considered to be wp:SHOUTing. Perhaps a more general review of the wp:Talk page guidelines is in order. Deletion of other's postings (except on your own user talk page) is definitely not on. Deal with the question of your inconsistency, please, as to why my entry must be removed and the six I listed that are irrelevant by your inconsistent criteria must remain. I am not going to read all of this, but I do notice spelling errors, and in the first paragraph, above, in the phrase, "going into its third edition," the possessive adjective "its" is spelled wrong. Re: Astonish Design

This page should not be speedily deleted because...

CSD G11: "the mere fact that a company, organization, or product is an article's subject does not, on its own, qualify that article for deletion under this criterion."

I'd like to also disagree that the article is not sufficiently encyclopedic or that in it current form, it is only promotional. The page has four sentences, all four based on statements of fact, not of opinion. That said, I'm hoping to work with you to edit this article so that we can both agree that the article meets all standards of criteria.

CSD A7: Does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject.

I agree with you wholeheartedly on this point, and will be looking forward to working with you to better explain and illustrate the significance. This is one of the reasons I added the "stub" tag. The problem with "speedy deletion" is speed - I believe that given some time and effort, this article could meet all of Wikipedia's standards and practices.

I will work on editing the article at this time.

Hello, it is on Bread and Butter tradeshow. I added some pieces from an article from www.spiegel.de/international/germany... and another one from the N. Y. Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/14/fashion/berlin-celebrates-bread-butter-trade-show.html?_r=0) to "Talk". I hope this can say something about “the notability of this event”.

Please help improve the article. My English is not sufficient, I think. I couldn't even decide how to say this: The name BREAD & BUTTER is a reference(allusion) to the term Butterbrot.

At the time, all of his/her edits to Deaths in 2013 required review, so it seemed as if s/he was not autoconfirmed. I don't know if that was some glitch in the system, but I changed the permission to confirmed so that wouldn't happen anymore. Deletion of Against Nature (Obverse Books)

You appear to have marked this for deletion on the 22nd April and it has completely disappeared, without discussion, by 25 April and is now a purposeless redirect? Exactly why? And how can I argue this? This book has been out for a little over a fortnight and has not yet been reviewed by any o fth emajor outlets who usually take a month or two to review small press releases - a little time before over-eager editors jump in with their magic deletion tool would be a good idea - the rush with which some editors delete is one of the reasons Wikipedia is often a less than useful resource.
