you removed my link

Hi, You removed my link from the air freshener page citing external link inappropriate for encyclopedia, but there is already an external link to a commercial air freshener vendor on that page. Not sure why it's ok for them, but not Air Delights?

Since Air Delights has been a valuable resource online for over 20 years in the air freshener business, I thought a link to our company would be appropriate.

I have removed the other commercial links as well. It's not appropriate to advertise specific places to purchase products, since the article will then become a commercial directory. ... discospinster talk 15:36, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Quantum Fiction

Hi

Could you please explain why you deleted the reference to our book in the titles list? This book was already listed there but a link was added. If we were in error somehow please educate us and we won't repeat our mistake. If the link deletion was correct we still believe the notation should revert to the way it was - the title maintained in the book list. This is a legitimate QF title available since 2007. We are currently writing a Wiki page for this title - and hope we can link to that without an issue - as intended . Thank you for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.219.69.195 (talk) 18:24, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Persistent vandalism on 'Got Talent articles

Is there anything that can be done about an IP who's been slowly vandalizing several 'Got Talent articles. These are pages with few watchers where such deliberate factual errors can stick around for months. (Working on the Britain's Got Talent pages, I've found deliberate errors that were 3 months, 5 months, & over a year old.) IP's talk page has plenty of warning but due to slow nature of vandalism, blocks have been avoided. Is there anything that can be done? If left alone, I suspect some of these deliberate errors will stick. Thanks, Kirin13 (talk) 02:26, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Spamming

You issued a warning to User:Aethelfleda about advertising on 3 July but he is still spamming to push his novel. He has made about 40 edits in the past three days, some when his edits have been reverted. Dudley Miles (talk) 20:44, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi,

in what way does leaving a valid message about further reading or popular culture section constitute any violation of the rules? Aethelfleda (talk) 21:56, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

The problem is that it's the same information by the same author that is being added to many articles. It gives the impression that it is meant to promote the author and his works. ... discospinster talk 22:36, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
There are countless depictions of real people in historical novels. They are only notable if they are discussed by literary critics or cultural historians. I and other editors frequently delete edits promoting novels as not notable and unreferenced, but Aethelfleda is adding edits on a large scale, and adding back edits which have been reverted as not notable. This is spamming to promote his novel. Dudley Miles (talk) 09:18, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Parsi

Hello, Discospinster! I believe you may have Parsi on your Watch list, but I wanted to point out to you an addition made by an IP editor just today. The editor added:

"who are much more recent arrivals, mostly descended from Zoroastrians fleeing the repression of the Qajar dynasty and the general social and political tumult of late 19th- and early 20th-century Iran".

While it may be true, it is unsourced. What do you recommend? CorinneSD (talk) 14:19, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Australian music vandal

Hi, I left a message above about this vandal, who is still active, see e.g. this history, which suggests some range-blocking might help after all. Dizziness external link removed http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com

Your comment was: (remove commercial link)

I don't think it is commercial except in the most incidental sense and it is also a good site for information. For example, see this: http://dizziness-and-balance.com/disorders/bppv/bppv.html

He goes into BPPV in depth. Per Hain, "BPPV is a common cause of dizziness. About 20% of all dizziness is due to BPPV." This is both important and good (if you have it), since 80% of the time it can be cured with very simple and painless (and inexpensive) procedures. If 16% (80% of 20%) of anything could be cured this easily -- it would be nice.

This is only one example ... Hain has written a virtual encyclopedia on the subject of dizziness. I suppose anyone that did enough research on the web via google would end up there sooner rather than later.

HOWEVER, I am a normal user of Wikipedia and make very few edits, &c. -- If you think this should be removed because it is a commercial link or commercial enough to be close to the line ... then I appreciate your edit.

alpha-alpha-### users

Hi Discospinster. Going through my watchlist, I found edits by FG789. Going through his edit history, all of his edits are bad - either adding complete junk or rearranging things / changing dates where it may look okay but on closer inspection is wrong. While looking at FG789, I noticed two other users with similar edits and similar alpha-alpha-### names: DC997 and MG457. I wouldn't be surprised if there is more out there. They're editing mainly TV shows and mainly reality/game shows. They have 60 edits in three days. Personally I think these users are WP:NOTHERE. What action if any can be taken.
