I looked into the issue of the images that are attributed in the caption; see the following convo with him:

Session Start (Disavitor:Jamie Howell): Sun Jan 14 13:21:46 2007
[13:21] Jamie Howell: hey
[13:21] Disavitor: hi
[13:22] Jamie Howell: if there was any way you could credit my website, i could give you almost all of those images
[13:22] Disavitor: Yes, there is
[13:22] Jamie Howell: ok
[13:22] Disavitor: you can have any manner of links or text on an image page
[13:22] Jamie Howell: i'll round some stuff up and shoot you an email later today
[13:22] Disavitor: also, the license you're probably looking for is "Creative Commons Attribution"
[13:23] Disavitor: where anyone can use it, but they have to cite that it's your picture
[13:23] Jamie Howell: ok
[13:23] Disavitor: this is awesome, then. :)
[13:24] Jamie Howell: i just didnt want the picture do disappear forever into the public domain with no one knowing i took it :p
[13:35] Jamie Howell: what resolution do you want the pictures?
[14:16] Disavitor: sorry, wasn't paying attention :p
[14:16] *** Auto-response from Jamie Howell: Busy doing other things. Leave a message and I'll get back to you when I'm done or I decide to take a break.
[14:17] Disavitor: nothing too big... at least 300 px wide, though
Session Close (Jamie Howell): Sun Jan 14 15:21:06 2007

I felt that an in-page caption was a good-faith interpretation of his wishes; note that he is also credited on the image description page. So, it appears that the caption isn't truly necessary; if you felt strongly about it, I suppose the links on the 100px thumbnails could be removed, but I'd want to keep the attribution links on articles where the images are more prominent, such as Calvin Johnson (American football), Bryan Shelton, and Reggie Ball. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 01:56, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Good investigative work! Your interpretation of Mr. Howell's wishes seems pretty reasonable - besides, it's better to ere on the side of over-attribution, just as a courtesy. If it really is a major issue, I'm sure you'll be hearing about it eventually, but for the time being I'm fine with it. Now that the issue has been looked into, I'll be happy to look past it in terms of the FAC. That said, there's still a few more (minor) things to take care of on the page. Again, good work! Question for member of GA article sweeps

If you've got a moment, I was wondering if you could answer some questions I'm curious about? They are:

  1. What GA articles have you worked on and submitted to GA review?
  2. Have you ever worked at getting an article to FA status?

Hopefully won't take more than a moment of your time. - Ta bu shi da yu 13:54, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Backlog at WP:GAR

I have noticed that you are a frequent reviewer at that Good Articles project. good article reassessment is experiencing a considerable backlog problem. There are several articles dating from August that still have not generated enough discussion to close. Could you please take a look at the oldest articles and make some fresh comments on them? Please note that some of these have undergone signigicant changes since they first came to GA/R; please judge the article only on its merits as of its current version. If you reviewed an earlier version of any of these articles, please also consider re-reading them and either revise or endorse any earluer comments you have made. Thanks for your help with this! --Jayron32|talk|contribs 02:39, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Qirex logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Qirex logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:25, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

FL Main page proposal

You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination recently. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1 2007, voting starting December 1 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual content will resemble the current content at the featured content page. Such output would probably start at the bottom of the main page. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:51, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Flippin' awesome.

Thanks for the invaluable help in getting NIN promoted to FAC. Mark it 8, dude. BotleySmith 06:15, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

I just noticed that NIN finally got promoted to FA. Very well done. Congrats!  Tabanger  11:39, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Can you address Jeff Dahl's objections - that the history section is too thin, and that it generally lacks discussion of critical reception. In the meantime, I'm going to delay wrapping up this FAC nom (alternatively, if you want, I could restart it and see how that shakes out). Raul654 03:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

The article had no support, nor did it look like it was going to be heading towards any kind of pass. All of the concerns about the article were basically over criterion 1a3 which really isn't something you can easily fix. -- Scorpion0422 18:35, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

A consensus for opposition doesn't need to be formed before an article can be failed. Articles are generally failed due to a LACK of consensus, and there clearly was a lack of a consensus there. -- Scorpion0422 20:00, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Against my better judgement, I have reopened the FLC. here are the ground rules:
  1. You have two days to engage the opposition in discussion. I suggest notifying him.
  2. If you do not have at least 2 support votes by then, the FLC will be closed
  3. And this time it will be closed forever.
There you go, good luck. -- Scorpion0422 04:11, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Your two days are up. I suggest perhaps waiting a few months before renominating. I had the exact same problem with List of Survivor contestants, but I waited 2 months and when I renominated it, it passed unopposed. -- Scorpion0422 03:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

The November 2007 issue of the WikiProject Good Articles newsletter has been published. Comments are welcome on this, as well as suggestions or offers of assistance for the December 2007 issue. Dr. Cash 01:10, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Dead Like Me is no longer a GAC. Unfortunatly there is no production or rating information to add to the article (Which is the only thing holding the article back from GA status)  :(

LOTD proposal

You have nominated a recently successful WP:FL. There have been two recent proposals to begin a List of the Day feature on the main page, which have both received majorities but have not been approved as overwhelming support sufficient to change the main page. WP:LOTDP is a new proposal to try to get the ball rolling based on the original proposal. You can voice your thoughts on its talk page. Basically, what the proposal entails is attempting to run an official trial, and then vote after the trial run on whether to change the main page. Support to run a trial requires much less consensus than support to change the main page. Should we succeed at eventually getting such a feature on the main page it would tentatively look like this. Whether or not you support an experimental trial or not you should come discuss the matter at WP:LOTDP's talk page. I apologize if you have either already voiced your opinion on this matter or already tired of hearing about it.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 21:37, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

NIN discog

I'll keep this to private comments as right now I'm keeping off FLC unless there is a really interesting list coming up:

  • Use the multiplication symbol, not "x"
  • Check with other featured discogs: I don't remember whether we put remix/live albums as subsections of albums
  • drop the categories from "see also"
  • It is perfectly legit to incorporated the bootlegs in a section of their own (I seem to recall another FL includes them)
  • Consider adding a link to the general All music, and possible discogs page to external links.
  • "FIN" is a better abbreviation for "Finland" (in "albums", you use "FN")
  • "AUT" is the abbreviation we've been using so far for "Austria" ("AST" really threw me out for a loop)
  • In general, we favored 3 letters abbreviation, except UK, U.S, NZ, EU and WW, so consider "FRA" and NLD
  • Try slipping the citation tags under the country code in the Live albums table
  • Your Halo numbers lack any sort of citation: even though a general citation covering tat section would work, there is none at all (except for the two anomalous numbers)

Circeus 05:47, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for taking the time to let me know all of this. I addressed some of your concerns, but I left a few you unresolved (mainly the abbreviations thing). It is just my opinion that WP discogs shouldn't make up new abbreviations where established ones will suffice (such as country codes). I've never seen Netherlands abbreviated as NLD, always NL, for instance. Also, I removed the bootlegs from the bulk of the article due to comments made in the previous FLC, so in the face of two contradictory suggestion, I'd prefer to leave it as it is. As for the cats in the See also section, there is a number of other discogs that have something similar, and I think it is just an efficient way to lead someone to a useful list, nevermind that it is a category rather than an actual page. Anyways, I think that's everything. Thanks again, and feel free to drop a line at the FLC if you like. Drewcifer 01:14, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi!, thanks for the feedback!. I have now tidied up the article going by your points, and have now got rid of all fansite references. I have only kept those references to the Feeder Anorak Fansite, IF the page is a scan of the actual artwork of the CD or MC single, so the claim can be verified and if there is no other source :). Marcus Bowen 15:46, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi!, Have replaced all the Feeder Anorak references (bar a scan of a CD cover) with other links I found. It's not so much of a fansite, as the guy who owns it works for the record company as a volenteer :).Marcus Bowen 17:28, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Re:Featured lists

Hello. Thanks for your concerns. I had that in mind while nominating the lists, hence why I stopped at three. Given the similar structure to several other FL episode lists I've worked on, as well as a minor hope of a possible FT out of all of them, I thought that three was fine. However, I'll let them sit for a while before working on the fourth one. Regards, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 00:29, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Featured List of the Day Experiment

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 17:39, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey Drewcifer, I've just added the "Option" parameter into {{Infobox Artist Discography}} as requested. I'm sure it works (to test, I've added the Halo numbers you suggested needed it, and it seems to work fine there). Sine you're the one who suggested it, have a glance at the documentation for the field and let me know if it's what you wanted (it's got 4 parameters, not 2, because it has to cater for a "name" option, also to still be able to link to the appropriate section, and colour customisation). Let me know what you think! --lincalinca 03:21, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Media tagging

Greetings! First of all, thank you for reviewing Machinae Supremacy, it's been a great help to get the article up to scratch. However, I'm unsure how to tag the audio file Image:Machinae_supremacy-gianna_sisters.ogg. As you say, it doesn't fall under fair use as it was released freely. But what does it fall under? It's not been officially released under any kind of free license, but still appears to be copyrighted. Rehevkor (talk) 16:56, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Nine Inch Nails

Good work on preparing Nine Inch Nails for the Main Page :) A friendly note, don't forget to warn users who vandalise the page, so they get the message and know not to vandalise again. You've probably heard about the warning system already, but I'm notifying you anyway. See Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace for more help. Spebi 07:51, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

reciprocity

Also, I'd just like to thank you for contributing to the immolation article and making meaningful comments and recommendations. That is very useful and good. I also realise that a community is built through precisely this sort of behaviour and attitude, and especially wikipedia, that is essentially what wikipedia is. That being said, if there are articles which you are working on which you would like someone else to look at, think about, evaluate, etc., I can do that. Working on these Falun Gong articles I think has given me some good wikipedia credentials. Because they are so contentious, and the competing views are so polarised at times, I have learnt to reference every point, and always try to write neutrally. Though it can be difficult on this subject. Just let me know if there is something like that I could help with.--Asdfg12345 10:26, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Load Records catalog

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Load Records catalog, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. And yes, i am unable to find the source for the 8th and 9th November shows being cancelled. I found one, but the site is no longer available. Indianescence (talk) 08:36, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
