Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Scottish-Canadian Culture by province requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Orphaned non-free media (File:DannyGreen2013.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:DannyGreen2013.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 05:15, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Iowa unincorporated communities categories by county[edit]

Hi-I noticed you are creating categories for Iowa unincorporated communities by counties. I am wondering if we need the categories. Iowa does not have that many articles on their unincorporated communities abd Wikipedia is getting too many categories as it is. Many thanks-RFD (talk) 23:41, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Definitions of North / Central / South Jersey[edit]

The definitions of what belongs in Category:South Jersey, Category:Central Jersey and Category:North Jersey are so fluid and contentious that these categories should not have been populated without discussion. I live in Northern Bergen County and I just joked with someone that I am convinced that Ridgefield Park is in Central Jersey (and read that article for a taste of the ambiguity). While I could guess that there would be agreement that Cape May County is in South Jersey and Sussex County is in North Jersey, there are no official definitions and there needs to be discussion before any further articles are tagged. Alansohn (talk) 02:15, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • No problem Dwscomet (talk) 03:52, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • I think that the first step is to remove these three categories from articles for New Jersey counties. Once that's done, pick a place to start the discussion -- I suggest reaching out to WP:NJ -- but please read through the articles for South Jersey, Central Jersey and North Jersey and make your best case that there is a clear, unambiguous definition of all three that can be applied in consistent fashion. Without consensus that sharp dividing lines can be drawn, I would suggest that these categories not be used for this purpose. Alansohn (talk) 04:20, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"NBA players from Country X" categories[edit]

Hello - I have noticed that you have created many of these. When doing so, please do not add "Country expatriate basketball people in the United States" as a sub-category. The NBA is not purely an American League so that is not a valid parent category. For example, Jonas Valančiūnas is a "National Basketball Association player from Lithuania," but he isn't a "Lithuanian expatriate basketball person in the United States." There are other examples. Also, ABA, NBL and BAA players aren't technically NBA players so please consider this when adding these categories. Thanks. Rikster2 (talk) 14:08, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A few more sportspeople categories[edit]

I have come across a few more U.S. cities that could use a sportspeople category. I would appreciate it if you could help create and populate them.

Thanks!Hoops gza (talk) 02:51, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that you are adding articles to the category from your memory of sports rather than by exhausting the parent category of "People from __". Is this true?Hoops gza (talk) 17:36, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I exhausted the parent cats Dwscomet (talk) 00:27, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Dubs[edit]

Hello, Dwscomet. You recently added a link to Golden State Warriors from the disambiguation page Dub. There is no indication anywhere on the Warriors article that they are referred to as "The Dubs", but I'll trust that they are. If this is indeed a notable nickname, you may want to add it to the article. Happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 22:50, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey there! Yeah, I believe it's notable, because local media (1 2) and ESPN (3) are calling them that. I don't know if it's enough, but it seems notable enough for Bay Area and Sports media to use "Dubs" to refer to the Golden State Warriors. Have a nice day! Footballers from Tyne and Wear category[edit]

Hello. I'm guessing you weren't aware of the instructions at Category:People by county in England, that say "People from areas affected by boundary changes are categorised by the county at the time they were alive". Tyne and Wear is one of several counties brought into being in 1974: some of the many people you've included in Category:Footballers from Tyne and Wear died decades before that date, others lived only a few years in that county's existence, and lived most of their lives in a former county. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 23:05, 15 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Vanessa Huppenkothen}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". To elaborate further: This page got nominated for deletion a few days ago by another user because it had been perceived as being inflammatory and outside the bounds of WP:UBCR. A tag has been placed on Category:Welsh people of Trinidad and Tobago descent indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
