Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Los Angeles into Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 15:07, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Further to the above, we do not improve and expand articles in Wikipedia by wholescale "copying and pasting" content from other (related) articles. And building one "all encompassing" article. To do so is problematic relative to several policies. Including WP:SS, WP:COPYWITHIN and other guidelines. If it is done clumsily, it also results in this type of thing. Where the titular article awkwardly and redundantly links to itself. And (equally awkwardly and redundantly) states what and where it is. Over and over again down through the article. Please stop "editing by copying and pasting". Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 19:41, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Pacific Palisades, California requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! The article Mort's Palisades Deli has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not enough in-depth coverage from independent, reliable sources to meet WP:GNG or WP:CORPDEPTH.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. --JBL (talk) 12:33, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Also, please don't mark edits as "minor" that are potentially controversial as you did at African Americans. Rsk6400 (talk) 07:37, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps the concept of African American Jews, or Jewish people in general, may be "controversial" in Germany due to historical reasons, but in the United States it is not a controversial notion by any means and there are quite a number of African American Jews as well as many thousands of African Americans who live in Israel. The percentage statistic can be found in the citation listed in the article section at question. I have reverted to my edits.Etonmessisthebest (talk) 10:14, 7 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

AI area[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

The article Timeline of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict in 2022 is not intended for recording every trivial incident that occurs on a day to day basis so I have reverted material that I consider not to meet the bar. If it is not the sort of material that would make it into an article it probably shouldn't be here. Nor do entries require a great amount of extraneous detail, just short summaries and if possible, neutrally worded. Selfstudier (talk) 13:30, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well put. Perhaps you could add a similarly worded notice to the article's talk page. Mooonswimmer 17:12, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
