week 5/ Add a Citation and Contribute to One Article/ Amandaerfeng

Here is the link to the diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Boston_Terrier&diff=prev&oldid=982847591 This time I chose Boston terrier as my topic since I have one at home. I spent too much time finding a useful link for the article, but end up reuse the reference the article has since it missed some information.Amandaerfeng (talk) 18:59, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

Amandaerfeng, I agree with the revert on this, as Instagram is not a reliable source for Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links/Perennial_websites. Can you re-add one to this article or to another one and then ping me again here? FULBERT (talk) 18:14, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
@FULBERT:Here is the new changes I made with a new reference.https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Boston_Terrier&diff=prev&oldid=983181686 Thank you.Amandaerfeng (talk) 18:56, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

Week 5 / Add a Citation and Contribute to One Article / CaptainJoseph

I chose Determinism as my article this week. I provide an extra reference to this article and point out Determinism is about interaction which affect our cognitive processes in our life. Here is the difference between the previous version and the current one.

During this week assignment, I learned how to provide more information without my own bias. CaptainJoseph (talk) 19:04, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

@FULBERT: Sorry for my misunderstanding. CaptainJoseph (talk) 19:11, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

CaptainJoseph, OK, signed now fine, though I do not understand what you mean in your add on the article, "Determinism is about interaction which affect our cognitive processes in our life." Can you explain that a bit? It is not quite clear to me. The source itself is ok, this is only about what you meant. FULBERT (talk) 19:19, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

@FULBERT: Sure professor. It basically means that Determinism is about the cause and the result of what we have done in our life. Cause and result are always bounded together in our cognitive processes, so if we have sufficient information about a object we might predict every move of that object including human being. That is just A point of view of Determinism. CaptainJoseph (talk) 19:31, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

CaptainJoseph, This would have been a helpful add to the article itself near your statement. FULBERT (talk) 19:19, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

@FULBERT: Allright! I have done that in the article! Here is the link! CaptainJoseph (talk) 20:58, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

Week 2 / Evaluate Article / Nectaros

In this section, I completed an evaluation of Augmented Reality article, here: Augmented Reality. I noted that the Possible Applications section could be expanded and that the Privacy Concerns citation could use more citations. I left some feedback on the article's Talk page. Diff link is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Augmented_reality&curid=231173&diff=982977172&oldid=982971858. In this section, I learned how to insert links and leave feedback. I am still figuring out the headers on Talk pages to leave feedback.

I learned how adding a citation in the source code automatically adds the source in the references below on an article. I learned how to make small copyedits for work choice and typos.

Week6 / Add a Citation and Contribute to One Article / 燕京赵大知识分子

This week I added a citation to an article that talks about Taoism. Week 4/Add a Citation to One Article/DetongChe

I have a Miniature Schnauzer, so I search this article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miniature_Schnauzer) and I have never heard about "UK Kennel Club". Then I added a citation to this article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kennel_Club) under the health part. Hope this citation help more people have a good understanding. This link shows the difference between revisions: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Miniature_Schnauzer&type=revision&diff=982907866&oldid=982712683. Since not all people know and understand your article's reference, a citation is very important for the reviewer to understand the article and your idea. DetongChe (talk) 03:14, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

DetongChe, Avoid using Wikipedia as a source for itself per WP:NOTSOURCE. Cite external, reliable sources as evidence to support your claims per WP:VERIFY. Replace the source you used with one that is more reliable, and ping me here to review it. FULBERT (talk) 18:44, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
@FULBERT:Since Miniature Schnauzer looks good, so I choose another one. This is the article link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaws. Kaws is Brian Donnelly's design. In the article "Products and commercial collaborations" part, it is a missed citation of "Medicom Toy". So I add a citation which is Medicom Toy's office website: http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/information/. Week6 / Add a Citation and Contribute to One Article / ywrhea

1. This week I assign myself an article named Social identity theory. The summary of this article is: Tajfel et al. conducted studies to minimal criteria to develop ingroup bias and discrimination. They found that social categorization per se is a sufficient condition to develop intergroup bias, without pre-existing hostility or resourece for competition between groups. I add a description to the previous version, which make the definition more accurate. Besides, the previous version does not have reference, so I insert a reference to make it more convincing and persuasive.

Here is the link of the difference https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Apple_Inc.&type=revision&diff=983872590&oldid=983766237 I added a paragraph on about how the Apple's next 10-years-plan of being com·plete·lycarbon neutral in 2030, and then I provided what series of innovative actions that Apple is taking to lower emissions. Another good new for this time assignment is that the first time somebody else thanked to my edit and fix couple words in my edit. I feel great this time. Week6 / Add a Citation and Contribute to One Article / CaptainJoseph

Hi! During this week I edited the article League of Legends, for citation this week, I find that the article itself didn't mention that League of Legends's mobile game. So for this gap between the knowledge of this article I cite that the mobile game of LoL is launching its open beta test on October 27, 2020 to fill this gap. Here is difference link for that. In this week's exercise, I learned how to apply my exist knowledge to an article and find relevant references. Thank you very much CaptainJoseph (talk) 22:44, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

Week 7/ Contribute to One More Article/ ShawnBoom

The article I chose this week is "COVID-19 pandemic in New York City". I went to the supermarket and buy something I can't purchase from the online store today and there are so many crowds outside on the street and in the market, I mean everywhere, that makes me feel the pandemic is already gone. I also mention that there are too many people who take the street as home, I mean may way more people than before. So I want to know more about the portion of how local government reactions to people who have difficulty living inside of rooms. After reading through a couple of articles, I realized the government does care about everyone from a big picture perspective. And I also cited the couple points of what's government done for each people in the article I chose this week. Here is the difference link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=COVID-19_pandemic_in_New_York_City&type=revision&diff=984260976&oldid=983911352 --ShawnBoom (talk) 15:08, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

ShawnBoom, Avoid words that may introduce bias or are expressions that lack precision per MOS:VAGUE. Can you rephrase this a bit, such as around language such as "normal people?" Please ping me here when done and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 14:38, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your remind and comment professor, I already rephrase my words above, please check it and let me know what you think, thank you.--ShawnBoom (talk) 15:10, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
ShawnBoom, What you added is in the lead, which should summarize what is already in the article. I recommend moving your add to the Public transport section. FULBERT (talk) 15:23, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your comment professor, I already moved my add to the public transport section. Week 5/Add a Citation and Contribute to One Article/DetongChe

I choose an artist who comes from Japan, I have researched him when I take graphic design classes. Here's the article link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takashi_Murakami, and I added the citation link is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animation. Since the "Animation Industry" did not have a good explanation in the article, so I added a sentence to the article. This is the link for difference between revisions: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Takashi_Murakami&type=revision&diff=982919994&oldid=981538443. After week 5, I clearly know a good citation is very significant for the article, also will be better for the reviewer to read the article with the right meaning. DetongChe (talk) 05:39, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

DetongChe, I reverted your edit as Wikipedia cannot be used as a source for itself. Please find a more reliable source for your claim and ping me here again and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 18:46, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

@FULBERT:I added the citation link switch to: https://www.moca.org/. This citation link will the part of his career experience and exhibition. Week 7/ Add a citation / Martinmadison

Link to the comparison: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=GeForce_30_series&type=revision&diff=984208782&oldid=983567181 In this article, it describes the launch of a new tech product that is extremely popular among the consumers. People are trying their best to get as much information about inventory status as possible. I updated some information regarding the third party sales partners so that everyone knows where to buy it. Although the citation comes from a forum, it's an official announcement made by an NVIDIA sales department representative on the official website forum and the wording is trustworthy.Martinmadison (talk) 21:00, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

Martinmadison, This citation is based on the manufacturer's own claims. Can you find an external news or industry source to add in addition to further substantiate this claim and then ping me again here? FULBERT (talk) 14:29, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
I found two additional sources coming from tech media that further confirmed this news. Link1: https://www.techradar.com/news/nvidia-admits-defeat-with-rtx-3080-and-3090-founders-edition-stock-passes-baton-to-best-buy. Week 7/Add a citation and contribute to one more article/Forza spurs

For this assignment, I assigned myself the article introducing Roger Mason Jr who was a former NBA player and here is the link to the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Mason_Jr. I added a citation which contains the official statistics of Mason's NBA career to better demonstarte his career development when he was playing for San Antonio Spurs. The following is the link to diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Roger_Mason_Jr.&diff=984528685&oldid=984500489. In this process, I have realized that some articles about public figures who are not that famous is highly likely to make claims without evidence to support, so it is necessary to improve them.Forza spurs (talk) 15:46, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

Forza spurs, include a sentence or two to express your contribution in context and demonstrate how it adds to the knowledge in the article; don't just add a citation. Ping me when done. FULBERT (talk) 22:03, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

Week6 / Add a citation / dyy122dyy

1. The article I cite talks about Zhuangzi's void and quietness theory and its effects. 2. The link to the difference is: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Zhuang_Zhou&type=revision&diff=984768744&oldid=973796174 3, What I learned during the process is that how does Zhuangzi afffects the world and holds a new view towards the world.

FULBERT, Professor, I changed my week 6's citation.
