Help! - Havent used this for ages

{{helpme}} Um, I kind of need someone to help me design one of those assessment tags for a new wikiproject. Im a bit confused using the Class parameter thing and I need a bit of help. The wiki-project that I'm doing it for is Raymond E. Feist series (WP:RAY). Im not too sure about images but maybe the Image:Rapiere-Morges-2.jpg would be good. Thanks! Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 00:00, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

I presume you want something like Template:WPSchools, is that right? In which case, you need to create a page with a name like Template:RaymondFeist. You'll want to see the page on meta, and probably Wikipedia:Template namespace as well. That said, I've never created one before so I'm leaving the help tag up in case you need more αlεxmullεr 00:12, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
YEP, something like that. I try it soon. Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 00:15, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Hello, here's some code that should be useful for you. This will create a generic talk page header that describes your project, and uses a class parameter to put the talk page into a category used by your project. The code is pretty much directly pirated from another one of these I've written, Template:WPAFC. I've trimmed it down considerably, as a lot of the code I have there isn't necessary for your project. You may want to add a little more information about the project, but it's up to you. Enjoy! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:58, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
You're quite welcome, glad I could help. :-) Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:09, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Sure. I'll make the changes to the template now, as well as add some documentation in for you. Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:15, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually, it's funny you bring RfA up - I think I'm about to go for one in a few day's time, and I already have two nomination offers. I'll let you know once I get nominated, and you can add your nomination in as well - it's not at all unusual for there to be co-noms at an RfA. Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:18, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi Fattyjwoods - as Hersfold said, someone had beaten you to it! :p Yes, it was me, and Hersfold's RFA is now just waiting for him to accept and transclude it onto the RFA page. I don't personally see the point of co-nominations, but there's nothing stopping you adding one if you really want to. Neıl 15:27, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Humph. :(, oh well I'll just add a co-nom just to make myself feel better ;) Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 05:03, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

HELP, again for statistics

{{helpme}} Sorry, guys but I need help creating a statistics table[1]. with the info from Category:Raymond E. Feist articles by quality and Category:Raymond E. Feist articles by importance‎. Ill be at school tommorrow so I might not be able to reply very quickly so bear with me. Thanks Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 07:55, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

The statistics table is actually generated by a bot, User:WP 1.0 Bot. You can check the bot's user page for instructions on how to get it to run for your project. Note that you may need to rename a few categories, I'm not sure. Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:18, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

New! BCAD drive from Milhist

Can I invite you to particpate in our new assessment drive? It's strictly for experienced editors and has a degree of friendly competition built-in. It involves re-evaluating around 3500 Milhist B-Class articles to ensure they match our new criteria. As ever, we're offering a range of awards as our way of expressing our thanks. The drive doesn't start until 18:00 (UTC) on March 10 but you can sign up in advance here. It would be great if you can spare the time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

My RfA

Hello again! The other day, you offered to nominate me for adminship on my talk page, and I'd like to give you the chance to do so. I've been nominated by another user, Neil, and would be honored to have you as a co-nominator. Thanks for your offer, and I hope to hear from you soon. Hersfold (t/a/c) 15:59, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Typo

You have a typo on your userpage. You have "to" instead of "too" when you mention that you don't want your userboxes to take up too much space. Just thought you might want to know. Useight (talk) 23:13, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that, and on the RFA discussion. I'll change the "to" now Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 03:15, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
You changed the wrong "to" to "too". The one that should be "too" is the one right before "much." The one you have as "too" currently, should be "to" instead. Useight (talk) 06:54, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh boy, you confused me but I think I got it right in the end. Thanks for that :-) Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 07:40, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for applying for NPWatcher! You've been approved to use it. I'm puzzled--why did it think North Korean support for Iran during the Iran-Iraq war was non-notable? North Korea was Iran's largest overt weapons supplier, ignoring embargoes, during an exceptionally nasty war. Further, that is a sub-article that is part of a series of specific country support topics under Iran-Iraq War. Howard C. Berkowitz (talk) 02:53, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, that was my fault. The NP watcher was going crazy on me. I accidently tagged it and I thought I took it off. But as you found out it didnt come off. Sorry. Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 02:56, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Technically this article is basically the one that was deleted 2 years ago. Still, right now there has been no information "set in stone". One of the sources say it'll be out in about 2011 - 2012. It doesent say anything about the name and anything else about it - these are basically all uncertain rumours. As to which speedy criterea? CSD G4. The official store list is right at the link provided. You cited some refrences that which you claim that it states that fitness first is "GONNA B THER" - but I cannot see anything that states its going to be there. Instead of trying to start a edit war with me - you should provide some refrences. The official store list clearly does not have Fitness First as a store - you have been trying to list it as a store - it is currently a "KIOSK". And "banned for editing without the knowledge of the truth?". Maybe 58.104.14.186 and 220.238.94.203 and several others should be banned "for editing without the knowledge of the truth".
I dont live in Australia - but theres a new invention called the "internet" and on the internet you can look up stuff and you call it a "refrence". And as to being a smart alec? well - I try to be smart sometimes because being stupid isnt really fun, is it? Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 04:17, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

re; RFA - Removal of "Spurious" questions

Hi, and thanks for the comment on my talkpage. If you review the history of that RfA, difficult enough considering the number of !votes - almost all support, you will see that a number of questions were previously included that were later removed as not being appropriate. The remover gave his reasons at WP:RfA/VanTucky 2#Discussion, point 2. Under the circumstances, there being plenty of questions upon which to judge the candidate and the number of responses made on the application, I considered there was no merit in the questions that had not already been made in earlier questions - and responded to. Please note I am not saying that there was no merit at all, only there was nothing apparently original. I understand that it may not be gratifying to have your considerations "dismissed", but I assure you that it was not vindictive. I hope that my response, while likely not satisfying you, provides the reasoning why the questions were removed. Cheers. LessHeard vanU (talk) 23:30, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

You're doing it again! and it's really annoying. Can't you use the talk page to sort out your differences? You're not giving proof at all - "according to Manningham Leader" is not proof - none of us can access it. and really? a dictionary? I checked the dictionary right now and "lyk" is spelt like "like". "Mite"="Might" and "hav"="have".

OMG get over it. wen u say none of us can access it, YES they can, at least 10000 people from victoria can if they live in Manningham. so there, u got it wrong. and go have a cry about it, just go live your life, me writing THE TRUTH doesnt affect your life in any shape or form. and you talked before about personal attacks, well i think YOU are staging one at ME. you are the only person that CONSTANTLY COMPLAINS about my edits. just GET OVER IT, maybe youll hav a better life if you do.--123.2.251.149 (talk) 08:46, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I am unclear why you reverted an edit

Fattyjwoods, you reverted my removal of a completely unsupported and purely speculative section of the Piracy article. The "Brain Damage" section is someone's theory pulled out of thin air. There is not a shred of evidence to support it. Such fanciful speculation completely ungrounded in evidence does not belong in Wikipedia. And yet you restored it. If you have an advanced degree in History (as I do), you will know well that historians who attempt medical diagnoses on long-dead persons almost always find themselves humiliated when subjected to peer review.

The section is completely without evidence or support of any kind. It is nothing more than someone's fancy, and does not belong in Wikipedia. I have no idea why you defended such an inappropriate and absurb section. Please be so kind as to undo your reversion.

Im really sorry as I revert large amounts of vandalism using a computer software, and I sometimes make mistakes - you may revert my edit if you feel I made a mistake and that other users are fine with it. Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 22:43, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I am curious as to why you reverted my last edit. I used a legitimate source, and cited it. Although I do admit that the absence of an edit summary was my fault. 129.74.229.16 (talk) 23:26, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Legitimate source? - My, Racist, Honky Point of View?
"Still others feel that white folk should own guns, while brothers in the hood should not.[1]"
I don't think so. Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 23:29, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

That is the name of the speech. Snowball is a real person, using an alias. When the discussion of gun control came up at a recent dinner, he had strong opinions. If I cited it incorrectly, by all means help me. But, I think I am starting to realize your point. Not everyone's opinion can be published on Wikipedia. I think I am just a little excited since I have just learned how to really use Wikipedia.

Please don't talk to me in such a condescending fashion. 129.74.229.16 (talk) 23:38, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately that is not an WP:RS - reliable source and has been removed. Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 23:48, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

What in the world are you thinking?

Where do you get off deleting a question that I have posed to another editor on his or her talk page? Are you totally daft? Reverting with the language

Hi, the recent edit you made to User talk:Jim.henderson has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing.

is intended for a) for vandals, and b) largely for those who have performed their edit in the mainspace. So what did I do? The editor on whose page I left my message had reverted my edits to an article, and I was unclear as to why, and so I left him a bleeping question asking him to explain? There was nothing rude, profane, or even mildly heated in my comment (unlike now, when I think I'll burst a blood vessel in a moment). And you took it upon yourself to delete my question.

Well, look, Fatty, get a clue. Unless something is clearly and obviously an horrible violation of ettiquette (major profanity, personal attack, etc.), it is not your place to "protect" another editor's talk page. Those comments are between he and I, and if he needs protection, he can leave a message asking for it. JFC. 68.218.222.40 (talk) 04:15, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

And by the way, Fatty, edit summaries are fine on talk pages, but hardly necessary. Edit summaries explain why I do what I do. That's not necessary on a talk page, the other editor simply has to read my comments. Ok, shortbusser, I'll get along now. 68.218.222.40 (talk) 04:17, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
As you know I sometimes make mistakes because I use a software that detects vandalism and sometimes it turns dodgy and I sometimes don't read things very clearly. I apologise for that - but theres no need to burst a blood vessel over a reverted question. If you think I made a mistake just leave a message on my talk page (like you did) and revert my edit.
Vandalism is not always in the mainspace - I've had numerous accounts of swearing, blanking, etc. etc. on my talk page before. Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 02:44, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
I can't say that I'm surprised. 68.218.222.40 (talk) 03:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for supporting my recent request for adminship which was successful with 89 supports, 0 opposes, and 2 neutrals. Unfortunately all I can offer is this lame text thanks rather than some fancy-smancy thank-you spam template thingy. I was very pleased to receive such strong support and to hear so many nice comments from editors whom I respect. I’ll do my best with the tools, and if you ever see me going astray don’t hesitate to drop a note on my talk page. Fattyjwoods...Thank you for supporting my nomination for adminship. Through it I have become aware of a great many people who can help me in my future editing endeavors. Even though I was not promoted, your support shows that I still have something to contribute to Wikipedia, even if it is minor edits to fix spelling and grammar to working in WikiProjects to help others make great articles. Barrack Obama is the best choice for president. Soon I will be able to say "NO MORE GEORGE BUSH!" It feels great just saying it right now, imagine when his term is done! I only wish Bush would leave office in 1/9/09 to realize that he's going to prison for the rest of his life for lying and ruining the U.S. government and economy.(71.110.32.21 (talk) 04:05, 1 May 2008 (UTC)).

Yeah, hi. I was wondering if spelling vandalsim under your complaints section was intentional or not. Just ignore this if it's none of my business.

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 07:03, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

In case the sequence isn't clear (because of page deletions), Chicken Quiet (talk · contribs) created Atomic Country; was warned about the AfD decision by Cobaltbluetony (talk · contribs), who deleted the page; then Chicken Quiet re-created the page (which was of course again deleted, but not without a hangon by Chicken Quiet, who argued WP:OSE). Looks like you've got your work cut out for you. :) Delicious carbuncle (talk) 19:54, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, but I cannot access the deleted page so I don't know what it was like. I'll try my best to monitor him, and his contributions from now on. Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 03:53, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Excuse me? Nonsence? The page I made, Atomic County, was certainly not nonsence. It was not made up and it made perfect sence. The only reason that it was deleted was because they said it wasn't notable enough (although I diagree). Emily Head is not just the daughter of two famous actors, she also has a career of her own. In the UK (where I live) she plays a major character in the new E4 sttcom, The Inbetweeners, which is very popular and she is well known and heard of. I will take another look at it though to see if i can extend/improve it. Chicken Quiet (talk) 16:33, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 22:30, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

The Mickey Mouse Club

I am having trouble with an editor removing information of mine that is sourced and cited very well. They are telling me that an "uninterested" editor needs to publish the information, which makes no sense to me as an "uninterested" editor would have no reason to do so. Zachary Jaydon was a cast member on The Mickey Mouse Club, and I have cited numerous Official, Reliable, Non-Secondary Disney Publications that provide this information clearly. The editor keeps removing the information without taking the time to check the sources, which can be done if a small amount of effort is put into it. I believe that this goes against Wiki policy as well as a major lack of the assumption of good faith. Removing unsourced information is one thing, but when an editor takes the time to make an article more informative and accurate, it's very discouraging. Please help!

Skyler Morgan (talk) 20:32, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

It means a lot to me

Yours is the first graphical recognition a wikipedian has ever give me. Thanks

Zachary Jaydon

You helped me on the previous AfD of my article on Zachary Jaydon, so I am once again asking for your help. I have sourced the article as well as I know how, and even provided album and magazine scans, etc. What else can I do?! Thank you for your help!

There seems to be confusion as to the relation between Jaydon D. Paull & Zachary Jaydon. They are one in the same. A large percentage of performers/artists don't go by their legal name. Any notability no matter which of the two names they are credited under are still assertions of nobility under either or both. Many people are eliminating anything that can be user uploaded or changed. I agree with the principle of this in general, however, videos, magazine scans and the such are irrefutable proof of events or facts no matter where they came from. If there is a video of Mr. Jaydon playing with a National Rock Band, you can't say that because it was put up by a "user" that the fact doesn't remain.

While every sentence of this Wiki Article isn't strongly sourced, it doesn't mean he doesn't meat notability requirements for an article. I have scanned and uploaded quite a few of my sources at: http://zacharyjaydonwiki.blogspot.com/

Also, the following was taken directly from WP:N#MUSIC:

Criteria for composers and lyricists

For composers, songwriters, librettists or lyricists:

  1. Has credit for writing or co-writing either lyrics or music for a notable composition.

Jaydon has written material on several Multi-Platinum records, including *NSYNC, Craig David, Ryan Cabrera and others. These WERE songs that were included on these albums. They weren't scrapped, or obscure B-Sides. These were songs included on official releases by MAJOR artists. He obviously has notable talent if these artists are choosing to work with him. This is obviously an arguable issue, but given the success of the albums his work has been featured on, it seems at the VERY least, notable. These credits are easily verifiable here:

([2], [3], [4])

The 3 above sources are all from www.ASCAP.com which is one of the most trusted sources used on Wiki for Songwriter Credit Verification.

([5]) also shows from a VERY large, Fortune 500 companies website with information on Close To Home and confirming Mr. Jaydon's Songwriting Credits. This website would be considered reliable on any front, and also independent of the subject himself.
