THFC Early History
Hi, I see you as one of the active/creative editors on the THFC sites ( hope I have got that about right!) Anyway I have spent some time recently getting into the history of the club the really old stuff from 1882 to 1939 or so when updating the biogs of early players. (Sadly my knowledge before this only went back to around 1961 when i started supporting). Having looked at the Section - History of the Club up to the First League Title I was thinking it needs a bit of a spring clean for accuracy and omisions and addition of some references etc. I'm happy to have a go at this but don't want to tread on any toes and also want to make use of others knowledge and ideas on which books to refer to. For example, I am not sure what the view is on the accuracy of the T&E Weekly Herald short history ( "the Romance") and having not looked at the Wagstaff History of the club I'm not sure what this and other authors have included that could be used. Anyway, any thoughts you had on this suggestion including / other editors / books and other refs etc would be appreciated.Thanks Tmol42 (talk) 17:08, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Regarding Tengen (company)
(repost, but wanted to bring it up to you personally too) They're listed due to creating unauthorized, unlicensed versions of games, some of which they had to take down (i.e. Tetris) and the fact the article in question mentions them in it. Basically the category covers any commercially-sold unauthorized, non-hack/-mode (basically, non-pirate) game related item or hardware that infringes on copyrights or patents, including games killed by C&D's (i.e. Munchkin (Videopac game)), and includes the unauthorized hardware clones like Nintendo, Atari and the Dreamcast got hit with.
It's a bit more distinction over unlicensed games, which really should have a category of its own, because unlicensed games don't all infringe on copyrights. Unauthorized video games would pretty much be a sub-cat to the unlicensed one. By making it include only commercial games it prevents fan-games from being shoved in there too.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 19:40, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Tottenham Hotspur cup final ribbons
I stand by my edit on this article as the way it was written previously was clearly suggesting that Tottenham started the tradition of placing ribbons on a trophy when I provided photographic proof, Notts County 1894 with cup adorned with ribbons, that this is not the case. I was very careful in how I worded the edit to advise the reader that while this was not the first time ribbons had been tied to the cup, it was the first time club coloured ribbons had been allowed to be tied to the cup prior to presentation and not added later at the club's celebratory dinner, as was the case every year from 1894. The article has since been reverted and in my opinion is once again misleading and suggests that Tottenham started this tradition when the evidence I presented clearly shows they did not. If I had chosen to be very picky I could have pointed out that ribbons were first tied to the handle of a trophy at presentation by Major Marindin before presenting the cup to Blackburn Olympic but these were not in club colours and was done purely to protect the handles from muddy hands as this was the first time the cup had been presented on the day of the game. Previously it had been presented at celebratory dinners. As a neutral, neither a Tottenham nor Notts County fan, I believe that the statement should be edited to state that this was not an original idea or the claim be removed from the page completely. Naturally when club pride comes into such situations it is always difficult but these pages are meant to be encyclopedic and when clear evidence is presented, should be edited accordingly.Captainbeecher (talk) 20:30, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
In response to your belief that it is a scarfe in the photograph I can assure you that they are ribbons and that if you ask this question of either an F A cup historian {which I happen to be (published)} or an historian of Notts County Football Club {I can put you in touch with a couple of well respected and published researchers of that club who regularly edit these pages} they will verify this. I can also provide photographs of Aston Villa {1897} with ribbons on the trophy, both team and individuals, and Nottingham Forest team group, again with ribbons. I would also refer you to page 11 of the Guiness record of the F A cup {second edition} {Mike Collett ISBN 0-85112-538-7} which also states that County were the first to tie ribbons to the cup. I am not wishing to enter into a game of oneupmanship or an argument. Feel free to add the banner back, if you wish. However, the subject was born in Guadeloupe, so it made sense to me to place that banner there. You will also note that assessment for Guadeloupe also automatically adds assessments for France as well, so none of the data is lost to the France project by having the child group's banner in place in its absence. Personally, I don't know enough about the relative importance of the national teams to bios of the individual players, but remember being told that it wasn't a good idea to banner them for every team they played on, and removed the duplicate banner on that basis. Sega Mega Drive
They are the same machine but they have different names, therefore both names needs to be in the title (Sega Mega Drive and Sega Genesis) or else you're talking about ONLY the MACHINE in EUROPE & JAPAN and all of its titles.

--I beg the differ. I'd like for you to find "Genesis 6-Pak" on Mega Drive. Or how about Ys III? By the way, there were no final decision on the talk page. It had mixed opinions. The Genesis is not the Mega Drive. Even if they are the same "machine", they have different names. The "machine" is BOTH Mega Drive/Genesis, not JUST Mega Drive, whether you like it or not. I don't know how many times I need to say Mega Drive games are a different version than the Genesis release. They may be the same game, but they are different versions with different titles. Who gives a shit what the primary name is. It has two names. Some versions are different on Genesis than they are on a European or Japanese games. The "primary" titles on the list were all Genesis titles, not Mega Drive, so if you want the stupid list to be Mega Drive then change all the fucking titles and release dates, OK? I'm the one that's contributed quite a bit to the list. I'm the one that cleaned it up. I've gotten rid of non-licensed games, I've corrected SEVERAL titles, and divided the games that appear on Mega Drive but not on Genesis. Obviously there's a difference here when the "same machine" brings out games for one "machine" but not the other "same machine". Now tell me if THAT doesn't make sense.... It's the "same machine" yet some games only come out in Europe or Japan or both and not USA.

Strange how they may work on each other but also strange how they made adaptors for the games that didn't work to work. Also strange that they would make them for Mega Drive for the Mega Drive title but not the Genesis title. Being that most of the games are under the Mega Drive AND Genesis title. Page titles
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Giovani dos Santos a different title by copying its content and pasting it into Giovani Dos Santos. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Hi, I noticed that you have changed accessdate to date in some of the references. These two fields are not the same thing. Date is the date the article was published. - The accessdate isn't there to show when the citation was added, it's to show the most recent date on which a link was known to be live. If in the future, a link goes dead, having a known-live date helps when looking for a replacement copy at archive sites like http://www.archive.org. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 23:03, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- The date parameter is for the date the cited item was published, if known. News sources generally do have a publication date, other web pages often don't. Date formats
Hi,
I see from your edit of Heurelho Gomes that you corrected the date formats. I suspect that you did this by hand. You may not be aware that there is a handy tool that will audit the dates for an article. It has several buttons and in one click you can set all dates to 'dmy' format. If you want to use it just add
importScript('User:Lightmouse/monobook.js/script.js');
to the bottom of User:Govvy/monobook.js then clear your cache using the instructions on that page (press Ctrl-Shit-R in firefox). Then when you have a page in edit mode, look for the blue text at the left of the page below 'What links here'. You will see a button called 'All dates to dmy' in blue. Just click it and it will detect all the dates and reformat them.

Not sure if I can agree with you. While those players do indeed belong to the academy, they have been apart of the first-team squad - surely that means they are members of the first-team? If they weren't members of the first-team then they wouldn't have been included in the first-team squad... which they were. Regarding this revert: if you follow the discussion at template talk: infobox Football biography, you can see that while the new {{infobox Football biography 2}} is still a "prototype" that's primarily due to minor styling issues, along with the obvious work required to have a bot roll it out over the many thousands of football bios we have. For the time being, the new version is perfectly usable in articles, and makes them more accessible to screen readers. Can this be restored? The rest of the project will hopefully follow soon. it's very simple, really. when i want to update an infobox, i want to see how up to date the information is. if it's up to date as of yesterday, then i don't have to trawl through beyond yesterday to fill the gaps. the more updated the information is, the less i have to trawl backwards. the less updated it is, the more i have to. every other editor i've meet on WP editing footy articles have said the same. Yeah, the reason I *tried* to make it look formatted was only to make it consistent...some user, suddenly, unformatted all of the dates in a single edit, and I thought it looked a bit strange having every word on a line formatted and then the unformatted date, but looking at it now, it isn't such a big deal, so yeah, let's get rid and see how it goes. Be careful with your accusations
Please do not place accusations of vandalism and false information without being very sure of your grounds. Assumption of good faith is a cornerstone of the etiquette of this project. While I might validly be accused of not putting the more informative reference in my first edit, I did not introduce any false information, and in no way was my edit a work of vandalism. lol, believe me I know, I felt dirty just copy and pasting it, I know that its a rag paper, but using the word "Official" as they have is surely risking it's (very, very small) reputation?, usually if it just a rumour they used the classic "Will be completed later today" or something like that. I've got no problems if you want to remove it until it's on the spurs website, but I thought if we just get it in now and be done with it, it saves i.ps and such from creating wars and all that polava. Hi. I'm guessing you're using Internet Explorer and that the "(on loan from Manchester United)" message hangs over and makes it look uneven? On Firefox, the version I applied looks fine, but if it doesn't on IE then there's a bit of a problem. If that's the case, then I don't know what to do really...
