Garbage and Version 2.0[edit]

I propose we both work on improving these two articles (or do it for me? kidding) before they get serious traffic after the (I just noticed) 20th anniversary of the debut. Whatdoyousay? Lapadite (talk) 03:51, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Igordebraga, I added you to the bannerspace of NYKOP. You can add yourself to BG's if you want (the other was not a question...lol). Lapadite (talk) 19:42, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, (noticing my older comments), I've abandoned research/work on Garbage articles for the time being, but emphatic thanks for shouldering it yerself.

Global account[edit]

Hi Igordebraga! As a Steward I'm involved in the upcoming unification of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:Single User Login finalisation announcement). By looking at your account, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:06, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A very old claim you made on the Super Metroid article[edit]

@Igordebraga:I hope I'm not doing anything wrong by dredging this section back up from your Talk archive and pinging you, but man I'd really appreciate some sort of reply from you. Please, can I get any sort of response on this?

Hello, I know it's been a really long time for you, but this has been driving me nuts for a while now.

Way back in 2005 you made this edit concerning sales information for Super Metroid. Please, I simply must know where you obtained these numbers.

I frankly do not trust Andy Robinson's claim from GamesRadar that Super Metroid supposedly sold "poorly" in Japan, but more in North America and Europe, which has been cited in the current version of the article for some time now. I have tried to contact Robinson before to obtain his own source for his claim but he has never responded to any of my attempts. This claim doesn't jive with things I've read elsewhere before, and raw numbers from VGChartz directly contradict it--in fact Super Metroid seems to have sold better in Japan. This makes sense that Super Metroid didn't do as well in North America too, because Donkey Kong Country was released around the same time and likely stole some of its sales. I am aware that VGChartz is not considered a reliable source. However, what is interesting is that their numbers cited are very similar to the numbers you gave so long ago. I would really like to track down the root of your sales data to finally get rid of what I believe is an awful rumor that's been circulating around the internet ever since it was added to that Wikipedia article. If VGChartz isn't the only source that contradicts it then it becomes substantially more dubious.174.45.178.216 (talk) 00:20, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Metroid Prime[edit]

Since you seem to be one of the top experts on Metroid here, I'd like your opinion on this: The Gameplay section for Metroid Prime states that it has a large open-ended world and it's listed as an example in here: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/1902/game_design_essentials_20_open_.php?print=1. Can this be put into the open world category?Dohvahkiin (talk) 23:16, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lithuania men's national basketball team[edit]

Hi, you have done a magnificent job improving the Lithuania men's national basketball team article grammar and structure. I think now the article really reached a higher level than just B-class. As there possibly is nothing more to add to it, maybe we should try with the FA nomination? I see you have experience in doing such procedures... What are your thoughts? -- Pofka (talk) 14:54, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback request in Clube Atlético Mineiro[edit]

Hey Igor, how are you? I've significantly improved the Clube Atlético Mineiro article in the past few months, and it is currently listed for a peer review, in which fellow editor Parutakupiu made valuable comments and copy-editing. Roaming around Wikipedia, I saw you too are from Minas Gerais, and I'm here to ask your help with the article, either by complementing the peer review or just giving general tips about where it can be further improved. Originally I intended to nominate the article for GA, but Parutakupiu seems to think it can be FA material. Checking some FACs I'm not sure about that, and as I noticed you are an experienced user on both levels, I would like your opinion about it too, if it's not too much trouble. Cheers! Interview request[edit]

Hi Igordebraga, it's been a million years! I apologize for popping out of the blue to ask a sort of odd request, but I'm writing my MA thesis on Wikipedia, fandom, and canon. I was wondering if I could ask you a few (~10) questions about how fans aggregate and define "canon" on Wikipedia in regards to cultural media objects (e.g. TV shows, movies)? You're under no obligation to say yes, but I just thought I'd ask! (BTW, I'm hitting up all the ol' X-Files project users, too)--Gen. Quon (Talk) 22:15, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome. Here's the questions I have. If you would prefer, you can email your answer to me via Wikipedia's email service. Also, if you are unsure of what one question means, feel free to ask for clarification, and if you don't want to answer one, you can skip it. Be as brief or as long-winded as you'd like.. although longer answers are preferred :P
1) When did you start editing Wikipedia and why?
2) Does Wikipedia play a big part in your life/identity?
3) What initially drew you to the articles that you edit?
4) Why do you feel the desire to collect disparate info and then collect it into one (or more) article?
5) What does the term ‘canon’ mean to you?
6) When you’re making an article, is it important to ‘stick to canon’, or use only legitimate, canonical sources?
7) In your opinion, what determines canon (or, “who has the final say”)?
8) Do some editors of pop culture articles guard their articles, (or “prevent the canon from being tainted”)?
9) If there’s an edit war and you want to get involved, generally, how do you determine what side to choose?
10) In your opinion, do certain Wikipedia editors have more power than others? If yes, how so?
11) How do you gain the trust of other editors?
12) How does an editor gain expertise/become an “expert” in a specific subject?
Thanks so much! (Also, I'm curious as to what your thesis was!)--Gen. Quon (Talk) 17:11, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I really appreciate you taking the time to answer those questions. Means a lot!--Gen. Quon (Talk) 17:25, 14 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

South America[edit]

The IAAF negotiates with each country to place it in an appropriate continental affiliation. Panama apparently felt more connected with South America. In other locations, Israel competes in Europe instead of Asia vs its neighbors. Turkey is also in Europe even though most of the country is in Asia. Same with Russia. And then the Caribbean islands, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Sint Maarten, Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao all compete in Europe but do some competitions in Caribbean organizations. WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup[edit]

WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup

Greetings, all!

We would like to announce the start of the 4th GA Cup, a competition that seeks to encourage the reviewing of Good article nominations! Thus far, there have been three GA Cups, which were successful in reaching our goals of significantly reducing the traditionally long queue at GAN, so we're doing it again. Currently, there are over 400 nominations listed. We hope that we can again make an impact this time.

The 4th GA Cup will begin on November 1, 2016. Four rounds are currently scheduled (which will bring the competition to a close on February 28, 2017), but this may change based on participant numbers. We may take a break in December for the holidays, depending on the results of a poll of our participants taken shortly after the competition begins. The sign-up and submissions process will remain the same, as will the scoring.

Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on November 14, 2016. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now!

If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the judges.

Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase. We apologize for the delay in sending out this message until after the competition has started. Thank you to Krishna Chaitanya Velaga for aiding in getting this message out.

To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletters, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

The Good Article Nominations Page Needs Your Help![edit]

Good Articles: Film needs the help of willing reviewers!

Hi there. You nominated an article for evaluation against the good article criteria some time ago, but I noticed you have yet to review an article yourself. Although it's not mandatory, it would be helpful if every user who creates a nomination also reviewed at least one other article, as this would help clear the massive backlog. Reviewing someone else's article can also help you in the long run: every article reviewed brings yours one position closer to the top of the nominations list! If you worked on the article you nominated, chances are you're already familiar with the six good article criteria. It really isn't hard to review, and may take an experienced editor only a few hours to complete. If you have the time and would like to help, please click here, take a moment to figure out which article you'd like to review, then click on its (start review) button. Thank you for reading, and if you need assistance with your review at any point, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page and I'll respond to you as soon as I can. I took the liberty of incorporating your data set for the annual report into my template. Thanks for compiling the set. I further assigned you a colour (#00FF00), and by pattern a series of entries for which to supply commentary. This list is fluid, and susceptible to change. If you wish to alter your colour, the articles assigned or the amount of entries for which commentary is required, feel free to do so. As a way of showing gratitude for the dataset which I stole, you can have first crack at choosing which topics you want. Stormy clouds (talk) 16:07, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Happy holidays[edit]

I'm having a merry Christmas and I hope you have a good day today and a happy new year. Thanks for working with me over the past year on the Top 25 Report. Keep up the good work.  SchreiberBike | ⌨  20:17, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I got a slightly different result than yours. Here is the difference (ignoring the numbers because I didn't fix the numbers in mine). A lad insane talk 02:28, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I just didn't update them from the new material, and I was talking about the ordering of the list. I really don't want Margaret, though. I'm American, I probably wouldn't do it justice. Serendipodous or OZOO can have it. A lad insane talk 03:59, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'll help tomorrow, I can't tonight. A lad insane talk 05:37, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Top 50 Brasil[edit]

Tudo bem?

Estava lendo há pouco a página sobre as top 50 buscas na Wikipedia em inglês. Sabe se existe algo semelhante para a Wikipedia em Português?

Obrigado!

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. The article Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales for things which need to be addressed. Top 25 Report[edit]

  • Thanks for compiling some preliminary data for this week's report. If you wish to collaborate on it, as you have done with Serendipodous and OZOO in the past on a few occasions, I would be delighted to do so. Feel free to enter some commentary for a couple of items, and this will aid us in setting a suitable tone and vary the Report a bit. Just a thought. Thanks for all your hard work on the last few reports I have compiled, as I feel it does not get said enough - would be impossible without your efforts. Regards, Stormy clouds (talk) 23:41, 23 February 2018 (UTC).[reply]
Great work. Thanks for compiling it in conjunction with me - helped accelerate the process greatly. Could not be done without you! Stormy clouds (talk) 19:55, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Sorry to hear that this failed GAN. If you can take care of the content issues, please consider submitting the article again at the Guild Request page for additional copy edit. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:19, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Top 25 Report[edit]

  • Hi. Thanks for inviting me to do the Report. Unfortunately, until the end of the month, I don't have time to make significant edits or write a report, as I am doing state exams, which must take priority. By the end of June though, I intend to be back with a vengeance. Sincerest apologies, Stormy clouds (talk) 18:04, 7 June 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Barnstar :)[edit]

The Working Wikipedian's Barnstar

Sad but true[edit]

  • "Fat Ronaldo", what a disrespect to the Phenomenon. I agree that the nickname is disrespectful, but somehow it stuck. I guess the world needed a way to differentiate between Ronaldos, and was too dumb to call him Brazilian Ronaldo. However, know that I hold some affection for Ronaldo - he won a World Cup through sheer personal brilliance, and it is a shame that his weight became the monicker that would define him. Feel free to change it if you want us to launch the rebellion to save his legacy. Stormy clouds (talk) 23:49, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • On a side note, do you know what tool Eliasdabbas uses to generate the graphs? I am feeling experimental... Stormy clouds (talk) 23:51, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Stormy clouds: I know that, I was just giving a funny aside, who cares what the foreigners think? Cristiano Ronaldo (Brazil calls him by the full name!) would've certainly traded all of his Champion Leagues for scoring two goals in the World Cup final. And while the Italians named Ronaldo Phenomenon, it certainly stuck more around here, specially to be specific when there's another Ronaldo in the same squad.

It's a tool of his own making, it seems. Wonder if it's easy to use. igordebraga 00:00, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll play around with it a bit. Stormy clouds (talk) 09:12, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Templated the report[edit]

Dynamic duo?[edit]

Sorry, it was just that I got confused, given I clicked last week's and was redirected to the main Top 25 page. Will remove the redirect so you can put it up. igordebraga 16:55, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No hassle at all. It is up now, with the exception of the chart. Thanks for fixing all the numbers with the WP:5000. Stormy clouds (talk) 17:02, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nice work this week. I fixed disambig links, and added navigation links and the header, as well as a (weak) preliminary title.Ready to go? Stormy clouds (talk) 19:28, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

Confirm Involvement in WikiProject Disney[edit]

Hello Igordebraga! I'm a new member of the Disney WikiProject. I'm trying to confirm who is still interested in the WikiProject in hopes to build a team of that can revamp the project. Please let me know if you would like to stay on the list of active members, or if I can go ahead and move to you the list of inactive members. You can do so by replying to this message and including the {{reply to|GeekInParadise}} tag. Happy editing! GeekInParadise (talk) 03:24, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@GeekInParadise: Sure, I'm always editing Disney articles whenever possible. Keep me as active. igordebraga 03:50, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to hear that. I already purged people that seemed really inactive but it's easier to just use a template and verify the semi active to super active. Keep up the good work. GeekInParadise (talk) 03:53, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

sorry dude[edit]

I wish there was something I could do to help, but I stopped doing the report preciesely because I found I couldn't do it and anything else. I can say that I had to go through a similar situation when I was writing the report and I found the only solution was to corral people together and speak out. Not loudly, but enough to ensure that people understand that the report is not automatically generated. Plus it's not really a good idea for one person to do the report anyway; it opens him or her up to attack from flamers and naysayers. Serendipodous 23:06, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, WTH, Bolsonaro wants to turn the day of the coup into a holiday? Caralho! Serendipodous 18:58, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies[edit]

  • Sincerest apologies for my having dropped the ball so dramatically on writing iterations of the Top 25 Report. Unfortunately, life got in the way somewhat and Wikipedia had to go on the back burner. Anyway, I should be in a position to contribute more frequently and lessen the burden that has been unfairly thrust upon you now. Sorry, Stormy clouds (talk) 12:09, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I thought Neymar was in the clear regarding the rape allegations, and just injured, but I could be wrong. Otherwise, really great report. Stormy clouds (talk) 18:42, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Current Traffic report?[edit]

Just on a quick check - it looks like the first two tables on the next issue of Traffic report in The Signpost are repeats of last month's. The dates may also be wrong. We publish on Wednesday. Please let me know if there's anything I should do.

Thanks,

Smallbones(smalltalk) 21:00, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops! Many apologies. I've been doing too much copyediting and my eyes glazed over. Those tables looked exactly like the tables I copyedited last week, not last month, Smallbones(smalltalk) 02:10, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Correction? for December traffic report[edit]

Don't know how crucial this is, but as I'm copyediting the next issue of The Signpost I noticed something. You seem to have missed a few countries when you described Elizabeth II as head of state for the UK (December 1 to 7) and Queen of England (November 24 to 30). ☆ Bri (talk) 23:56, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
