Advice via the move request on Roller skates[edit]

I am currently trying to deal with a plural naming convention problem involving four articles:

There seem to have been multiple move requests (on both sides of the issue), whether they should be plural or singular, However, it seems that the ice skating crowd always seems to lean toward the naming convention which technically should be singular, while the roller crowd says that it is going too far with the naming convention rules as they are always used in pairs.

My question is this: as the move requests seem to be blocked by non-consensus on both sets of pages, how in the world am I supposed to get both sets of pages to use the same convention? Clearly both sides cannot be right and personally, although I side on the singular, as I argued in the most recent move request here, I agree that it is a bit of a grey area, and it could be that 'ice skate' and 'figure skate' should instead to be changed to the plural.

Where is the best location to bring up a discussion to decide what naming convention should be used for all four articles? The requested moves board has so far been unhelpful in resolving this problem so I am unsure of how to proceed, and I hoped you could offer insight.  InsertCleverPhraseHere InsertTalkHere  13:46, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Second RM for Southern Apls[edit]

You took part in an RM "talk:Southern Alps#Requested move 29 November 2015" which I closed with a "Technical close" and a move the page back to the original name under WP:RMUM,but suggesting that another RM could be started immediately. A new RM was opened one day later talk:Southern Alps#Requested move 30 November 2015, proposing that the page is moved from Southern AlpsSouthern Alps (New Zealand) with Southern Alps becoming a dab page. The Queen of Ireland[edit]

Personally, I wouldn't have bothered with a dab page, but if there is to be one, it should be at Queen of Ireland, not The Queen of Ireland. The latter is unambiguous and refers to the film. "Victoria, Queen of Ireland" or "Our Lady, Queen of Ireland" don't use the definite article. Would you be okay with moving it (and moving the film article back)? If so, we could request a technical move, and save the bother of a formal RM. Scolaire (talk) 17:58, 13 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article was created with (film), it was removed, I put it back. As far as I can see everything on the dab page uses "The" one way or another, books, films, Virgin Mary, individual queens, but by all means move it to Queen of Ireland (disambiguation) if you think it's an improvement, no objection. But sorry, obviously can't agree with removing (film) as I already reverted one user. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:04, 13 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A favor to ask[edit]

Hello in ictu oculi. Let me just say thanks for creating the article for Caminando (Rubén Blades album). I was wondering if you could do me a favor. You might recall that I created an article for Latin music (genre). I was wondering if you could find any more books that verify that the music industry's definition of Latin music is bit different as opposed to simply Latin American music. Anything would be of help including criticism, the reasoning, or anything related to it. The first nine sources on are the articles are examples of what I'm looking for. You don't have to do it, but I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! Erick (talk) 21:34, 13 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The music industry, or musicologists like Continuum Encyclopedia? A lot of the latter isn't online or easily accessible In ictu oculi (talk) 09:17, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edit War[edit]

User:In ictu oculi, since you have auto-review rights, I've decided to turn to you over what is turning out to be an edit-war on the WP page, Sepphoris. If you look at the history, the individual wishes to place at the lead of that article a picture of a statue of the "virgin Mary," alleging that she was born in Sepphoris. My view here is that this is hardly relevant to the article, but if he wishes to keep the picture, it should not be in the lead. Furthermore, I have the impression that the individual simply wishes to promote "Catholic issues," as some form of advertisement, based on his history of edits. It just doesn't seem right. When I undo his edit, he puts it back-up again. Can you please give me your view on this subject, or else kindly talk to the guy about this? Thanks.Davidbena (talk) 22:22, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cat holder move[edit]

Why have you moved it to a new article title with Adkins in it? None of her articles use her surname as she is not professionally known with it. Portobuffolé[edit]

Hi, thanks for your support in Talk:Portobuffolé and excuse me if I'm disturbing you again. It's the first time I make a move request, so I'd like to ask a few questions. I suppose one user's approval is not sufficient, how many of them are needed more or less to decide to move a page? If there're enough positive replies, how long will it take normally for the page to be moved? And in this case, will it be possible to do the same in all other language Wikis or just in this one? Thank you in advance, In ictu oculi! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.20.39.13 (talk) 09:15, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. I think it'd be needed to have 2 or 3 editors with long edit histories agree. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:14, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, today a veteran user, Otr500, commented the talk and said, even if expressing a different point of view than mine, that since there're 3 supporting opinions an admin could move the pages. Might you do it, please? Also for the about 20 other Wikis in a different language with Latin letters, as the first Dutch admin I told you about did with the other pages named "Portobuffolé" renaming them all "Portobuffolè". Let me know if you can move the pages yourself. And happy 2016! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.20.124.98 (talk) 15:19, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I informed the community[edit]

I used a template in the talk page of Hebrew Christian that will inform everyone interested of my act. If the proposal will not be accepted, they will simply redirect the article Hebrew Christian back to Messianic Judaism. The page Hebrew Christian was already a redirected page, so it is really no big deal, I think. What I did is not something that would cause smallest chaos. The article was split into two, the talk page redirects somewhere while the page redirects somewhere else. It was obviously somebody's mistake, I had to change it.-- İskenderBalas💬 11:03, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What I was trying to say is, simply, I made everyone interested aware of what I did by using that proposal template on the talk page. If the community will see the change in redirection wrong, they will simply undo it. And I won't fight for it or something. -- İskenderBalas💬 11:08, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Move of Downwell[edit]

Hello, earlier this morning, you moved the article Downwell to Downwell (video game) and then reassembled the original article from the new-found redirect to a new article about the engineering piece, a "downwell", used in downwelling. While I am basically fine with this, I wonder: why did you move the main-name article away to create a new stub, although everything needed to explain it is on the downwelling article already. Lordtobi () 10:37, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Lordtobi because I wasn't totally clear that downwell shouldn't be separate. However if you want to blank downwell and just redirect to downwelling I'd be fine with that. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:58, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the about downwelling explains what happens, and the article about a downwell would describe the same, just that "it does x" instead of "x happens". So, depending on your opinion, I would either say that all Downwell-related edits of this case should be reverted and a "For the process see downwelling" should be added to the game as well as "For the video game see Downwell" to the downwelling article; OR we make Downwell a disambiugation page, although it might be nonsense for just two articles. Lordtobi () 12:09, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If downwell redirects to downwelling then any recent media products which overlap with either term could be mentioned on a hatnote on downwelling article yes. The only slight concern I have is that a downwell (noun not verb) is largely to do with riverine management, wheras that article is largely oceanic. The Vote[edit]

For the record, this was an ill thought out move in my opinion. If you were going to create a disambiguation page at The Vote then i could just about understand it, however you created one here Vote (disambiguation). If that was your plan then should of been created at the The Vote and Vote (disambiguation) as a redirect. Secondly you have given primary to Women's Freedom League when this article only has a small section about The Vote (Newspaper). A subject you didn't create a redirect for. I personally think a move discussion should of been held as moving a page to give primary to a page with a different name certainly isn't usual.Blethering Scot 12:36, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Prometheus/WP:NFILM[edit]

Hello, In ictu oculi! I am Norbert. Thanks for your attention to the Demme-Prometheus movie. Please, let me give you some probably useful information. I am living in Hungary, at the lake Balaton, in the same city where Zoltan Demme has his summer residency and office, and I worked in the Hungarian crew of this movie when the Hungarian part of the shooting was made. I know the circumstances of the sockpuppetry you noted: There is a small team who handles the homepage of this almost 70 years old gentleman with minimum computer knowledge ( Team of zoltandemmeworks . net , as indicated in his website ) and these guys made the action to place in the Ridley Scott Prometheus Wiki Article the Demme-Prometheus, as an alternative piece. This old man had no knowledge about this, and he fired these guys immediately when he became informed, and hired other ones. Otherwise, as I know him, he never cares popularity, he releases his books and films 12 yrs by 12 yrs when they are matured, and he refuses the all talk requests, media invitations and appearances, as he frequently says: lets talk solely the films and the books, instead of me, the reporters, the magazins, the reviews, etc.

However, the fact that I know him does not mean that I depend on him: when shooting, I was paid by my boss and not by him, and I did not see himself before and after. But his Prometheus movie was an important part of my life, I learned a lot while making it, so I feel that I have to help the improvement of the related wiki article. Being not a contributor of wiki, maybe I have to kindly ask for your experiences and advices for doing this, if you agree. I searched for further sources and I would place in the article the following paragraph: [Header] Further sources [Text] Rappai, Zsuzsa: Szépséges Balaton. Kossuth Publish House. ISBN 9789630975155. (2013). Szabó, Tamás: Nagy Balaton könyv. Mezőhir Publish House. ISBN 9789630842402. (2013). In addition, I would change the last sentence of the article and I would place the following: It was released in 2012 (and the IMDb reference and link). What you advise, may I do these, or maybe this method and this kind of not international but very local content maybe not recommended?

I work hard during the working hours, so I have only limited time for research, but I will continue the search for the reliable Hungarian sources and the English ones also (my little brother lives is California maybe he could also help me with information). In spite of the limited time for research I had found a 2013 website from Hungary, that shows the international presence of the movie in TV Guides, DVD stores, and Archives http://forimdb.webnode.hu/ 1. I thought to place this as [Header] Further information [Text] Movie guides, archives, stores, as references (and the above link). What would be your advise, may I place this or maybe better not to do this? I saw your Talk Page and some of your articles and I think that with your classic and modern erudition and long time wikipedia experiences you can judge these things better.

To Be[edit]

Friend,

While working on the article for a short film entitled "To Be," I noticed that entering that exact title into the search box produces an article about a popular Japanese song. In reviewing the history of the redirect-page (made, as I understand, to avoid the breaking of links that already pointed to the song's article) and the disambiguation-page, I noticed that you are the creator of both and thought it advisable to ask you whether you think it would be well to make a search of "To Be" redirect to the disambiguation rather than to the song aforementioned. (I am sure that the links that fall within Wikipedia articles and that would be broken by the action could be fixed in advance.) I look forward to your response. Sincerely yours, Twozenhauer (talk) 17:39, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Twozenhauer yes, you're right. Redirected, will do a G6 tomorrow to fix the malplacing . Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:06, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Page move[edit]

Just to let you know I've moved the Oh Boy (The Mood I'm In) page back to where it was. This is the full title. Sprung[edit]

You moved the videogame from Sprung to Sprung (video game) a few hours ago, but forgot to tidy up the hatnote on that page (I've removed it now), and also to sort out access to the dab page. I've retargetted "Sprung" to point to the dab page and listed it at WP:RM to get the dab page moved to the base name. Please remember to follow through when you move a page. Thanks. Disambiguating books[edit]

Please note WP:BOOKDAB which specifies that only the surname of the author is used for disambiguation. I've moved Dead and Alive (Hammond Innes novel) back to Dead and Alive (Innes novel). PamD 21:17, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to repeat the above too. There have been a few books you've moved recently in contravention of the guideline mentioned. This has been addressed with you before. I've suggested in the past that if you don't like the guideline, you should start an RFC, rather than just ignore the guideline. --Rob Sinden (talk) 09:10, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And you're still doing it. Please respect the guideline, or seek consensus to change it through an RFC. --Rob Sinden (talk) 09:47, 19 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

unambiguous titles[edit]

Why are you moving unambiguous titles like Snatcher and Psychotoxic to disambiguated titles Snatcher (video game) and Psychotoxic (video game)? Unless there is another article in English Wikipedia with the same title there is no need to disambiguate, even though these words have a more common English meaning. PamD 21:32, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In the case of Psychotoxic I'm putting a prod on that anyway. Snatcher would appear to not be the main meaning snatch theft. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:34, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The word "Snatcher" doesn't appear in the article Snatch theft, so there's nothing to justify a hatnote or redirect pointing there, and no justification for moving the videogame article. PamD 21:39, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll correct a separate dab, no problem. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:41, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Unless "Snatcher" appears in an article it should not be appearing on a dab page. PamD 22:13, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It does now. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:16, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Is the move of Snatcher not unnecessary anyway? There is no other Snatcher, and a hatnote can easily point to snatch theft, and vice versa. --Soetermans. T / C 14:10, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot to mention that I stumbled upon In ictu oculi's move because of Hideo Kojima, that's why I commented also :) --Soetermans. T / C 14:32, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Marie-Louise Girod[edit]

Hello In ictu oculi,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Marie-Louise Girod for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. Take a look at our suggestions for essential content in short articles to learn what should be included.

Rationale for moving X+Y?[edit]

Hello.

Can you tell me why you consider X+Y (film) a better article title than X+Y? Generally I think shorter titles are better since they're more likely to be found. If we had a disambiguation page that listed this:

etc., then there would be a clear reason for the move. But there's nothing else titled X+Y, so no need for disambiguation. Michael Hardy (talk) 20:05, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking at X&Y, but I suppose it isn't the same thing. And we don't want to be too helpful to users. I've moved it back. Thanks. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:15, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Debt Collector (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

 • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
 • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Apparently LittleBenW and Kauffner are back and have hacked my account[edit]

Sorry. No one has actually accused me of this or even hinted at it, but I thought you might find this comment amusing, given my history with these two users, JoshuSasori and the diacritic wars. Shit. Sorry. It didn't occur to me that the above title could be taken as referring to one of my other accounts. I meant that someone accused me (User:Hijiri88) of being an anti-diacritic warrior. Proposed deletion of Devin Therriault[edit]

The article Devin Therriault has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no indication of notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. OK, a bunch of discussions on dab pages are not going to work[edit]

As much as I appreciate what you are trying to do, i think that we should probably address this problem at the back end, with a policy change or clarification. The real problem here is that the guidelines are not supper clear on what to do when the dictionary term is the most likely to be searched for (when all of the other topics are relatively obscure and people are just looking for the dictionary definition). As both of us have argued repeatedly, giving the primary topic to the least obscure non-dictionary topic is a problem, as it results in inflating the page views of that topic when really they should be being sent to the Dab page where there is a link to Wiktionary (there are other problems as well). I would suggest a policy clarification before bringing up more controversial RMs about this, because at the moment with this being a policy grey area, it is causing a lot of friction between editors. InsertCleverPhraseHere 23:32, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Insertcleverphrasehere (talk · contribs) The RMs are generally coming the other way. I have suggested that before; on WP:PRIMARYTOPIC Talk page that if it is not already clear, then it should be made more clear. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:29, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Macolla requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

The Begotten[edit]

Hi there,

I just wanted to check the reason for moving The Begotten to The Begotten (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). There doesn't appear to have been a dab article created in it's place, and now The Begotten is simply redirecting to the longer article title. I've done a quick search on google and I can't find anything else which would require the move, although there is a single novel listed on amazon with the same title (but the author doesn't even have an article, let alone any of her books). Disambiguation page edits and moves[edit]

In ictu, in the spirit of the some of the recent comments you've gotten here, you do need to start following the general practices and procedures for dab pages when you move things around. I've brought this up with you before,[2] and it would be really helpful if you'd start following the guidelines more consistently. I know MOS:DAB is a bit complex, but you simply edit too many dab pages not to get at least the basics right.
As a few examples of recurring problems, please pay attention to MOS:DABPIPE and MOS:DABENTRY. Please make sure to use pipe links to correctly employ italics and quote marks for names of works: for instance, Some Hearts (The Everly Brothers album), not Some Hearts (The Everly Brothers album). Don't include extraneous information that's not necessary for disambiguation (such as full composition credits), include only one blue link per line, and please make sure to follow normal capitalization and style.
Finally, please stop adding entries to dab pages that aren't discussed at the linked article. In addition to giving the impression that you're editing dab pages to sway RM arguments, it hinders navigation. It misleads potential readers looking for that topic into thinking there will be coverage at the linked article, and it clutters the dab page for everyone else.
Following the guideline when you first edit the dab pages saves other people a lot of work later on. It will likely also help your case in many of your RM discussions, as they won't get bogged down by arguments about what's actually ambiguous. Thanks.--Cúchullain t/c 16:06, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm filling gaps in notable coverage as I go. Adding songwriters is at least as relevant as artists, please if you have been deleting them don't. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:38, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
All that's relevant is identifying the topic for readers, who in most cases will know the artist over the songwriter. Adding extra information is extraneous and makes navigation more difficult, and I'll continue to remove it as I see it. As for filling the gaps, that's fine if you're actually going to create an article. In most cases that I've seen, you haven't ever done this. Feel free to add (properly formatted) entries after you've done the content work, but again, please stop adding entries that aren't covered.
I'm not trying to reprimand you here, and most of your edits to dab pages are fine. However, you'll create a lot less work for other people if you follow the guidelines.--Cúchullain t/c 17:30, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've asked on the dab guideline page about italics. In ictu oculi (talk) 17:36, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Good good. I've responded there as well..--Cúchullain t/c 17:46, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your new dab page at Pureness contained some errors, which I've fixed.[3] By way of explanation:

 • Since pureness doesn't redirect to purity, it's not the primary topic. As such it shouldn't go in the introductory sentence, per MOS:DABPRIMARY.
 • Again, please make sure you use proper piping per MOS:DABPIPING. Song titles go in quote marks.
 • Please put the entries in some kind of an order per MOS:DABORDER. Within each grouping, the order can be pretty flexible - chronological, alphabetical, order by importance, etc., but it aids navigation if list things in some sensible order. So here, I put the purity link first, as (I assume) the most important, then listed Pureness (Aya Ueto song) next as it's the first alphabetically (it also came out first).
Thanks.--Cúchullain t/c 01:37, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
These weren't all your errors, but on This Life (disambiguation) I made the following changes:[4]
 • This Life is the de facto primary topic, so it goes above the other entries per WP:DABPRIMARY.
 • That move negated your changes to the This Life entry, but you put the italics in the wrong place, and the disambiguation wasn't needed anyway.
 • Moved This Life (film) above the 2015 TV series, as it's first both alphabetically and chronologically.
 • Reduced wording for the album entry, and removed italics from the band's name.
 • Corrected the style of the Sons of Anarchy theme; songs are put in quote marks, not italicized, per MOS:TITLES
 • Put the MercyMe song in quote marks and removed italics from band's name; I also simplified the wording.

At Sekai, you didn't format the titles correctly. I also added brief summaries to help readers identify the topics.[5]
I also cleaned up Progress.[6] Again, please stop adding extraneous information to the entries. All that's needed is enough detail to help readers identify and find the subject. Also, it's kind of counterintuitive, but when the link is in the explanatory text - such as an album link for the song - just pipe and format as you would in any running text. See the "Switch" example given under WP:DABPIPING.--Cúchullain t/c 14:49, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agape and Eros[edit]

Thank you for your comment on the Talk for the above

The following front page of the above: https://books.google.com/books/about/Agape_and_Eros.html?id=Nk0JAQAAIAAJ

has the advantage of listing the titles of Part I and of Part II. Do you think that there is a way of downloading it to Wikipedia Commons, so that it could be uploaded to the article? --Thomasmeeks (talk) 04:35, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to discuss on Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Cyrillic)[edit]

Hello! As there is already an only proposed Wikipedia guideline on naming conventions (Cyrillic). The proposal is still in development, under discussion and needs of gathering consensus for adoption. Since I am well experienced on this subject, I would like to criticize the official transliteration of Bulgarian as it gives too many errors, which also causes some losses of sounds “ǎ (a hacek”), decentralise itself from other slavic languages (“c” and “š” voices), which is also conflicting in itself (see street signs 1 and 2). By this revision, it is away from being accurate and not able to satisfy the needs of an encyclopedia which claims to be scientifical. These are the reasons I invite you to read Scientific transliteration of Cyrillic and involve the discussion in order to contribute a possible concensus. Wish to see you here thanks Manaviko (talk) 13:23, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moved page[edit]

Hello. In Dec 2015 you moved "Wedding (album)" to Neoui Gyeolhonsig (album), which is fine. However, the name of the album is actually "너의 결혼식 (Wedding)", and there is no need for a disambiguation term. I don't have an account, but do you mind moving it to the correct title of "Neoui Gyeolhonsig (Wedding)"? I explained it on the talk page and you can see it plainly on the album info reference given on the article itself. Thanks.

Edited to add: And if we're moving Shinhwa album pages to romanized Korean instead of translated titles, then Resolver (Shinhwa album) should move to "Haegyeolsa" (no parenthetical needed). Thanks.

Mlynek[edit]

You moved the page Mlynek to Młynek (Nine Men's Morris), claiming it was a variant of Nine Men's Morris. But it's nothing like Nine Men's Morris! It doesn't use a board anything like it, and it's goals aren't even related to the goals for Nine Men's Morris. Mlynek is about block your opponent's pieces from moving, and doesn't care at all about three-in-a-rws, while the three-in-a-rows are the entire point of the later game. Diacritics[edit]

Hello. Do you think there is an argument for moving Bojan Djordjic back to Bojan Đorđić? He's not Western, he doesn't live in a Western country, and his Instagram account gives his name with diacritics. Rovingrobert (talk) 03:42, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

He appears to be a Swedish national. When someone takes Western nationality - which he did as a teenager - they often lose original spelling. However in this case, Sweden isn't as xenophobic as some other countries and if that is genuinely his Instagram account then maybe he has not simplified his name. You could just move it. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:08, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the information. Just to clarify, when you moved the article back and forth, were you just testing move rights? Rovingrobert (talk) 07:34, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's all. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:55, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps I'll start a move request. Lord knows there are a lot of xenophobes on here. What do you think? Rovingrobert (talk) 00:40, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There may be one or two vocal individuals, but most en.wp editors aren't xenophobes, the football ones for example are hugely internationalist. As a testimony to that there's only 1 bio on the whole of the corpus of 4 million articles which has a local consensus to "Anglicize" a foreign name. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:38, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, okay. I've mainly floated around tennis until now. Even there what I said is probably an understatement, since most articles where diacritics would be applicable are titled accordingly. Which bio was that, just out of personal interest? Rovingrobert (talk) 01:19, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Angel Melendez and the 911 Mambo Orchestra requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Postcard Cathy (talk) 20:32, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article Vina Jackson has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the prod blp tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Proposed deletion of Parallelity[edit]

The article Parallelity has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a valid disambiguation page. The second link does not say "parallelity" explicitly, while the third one was deleted at AfD.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sprung?![edit]

Regarding this edit; I'm willing to accept that the claimed reference is legitimate and was provided in good faith.

However, I've seen no sign anywhere else that the title of the film began with "Sprung!" Are you sure that you're not misinterpreting the title of the magazine's review as being that of the film itself?

I can't check this personally as the reference isn't online, but my gut reaction is that this is the most likely explanation. Ubcule (talk) 09:50, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Gail Zeiler[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Gail Zeiler. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Kacey Jones. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Kacey Jones – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Launchballer 11:18, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Horseplay (band)[edit]

The article Horseplay (band) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails NBAND

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —swpbT 19:38, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't think many people agree with your policy on moving pages, if the amount of reverts of your moves over the years I've seen are anything to go by. Unless you can cite Wikipedia policies for why you move things, then it just seems to be your own personal preference. You moved Good Times! to Good Times! (The Monkees album) based on what? The fact that a 2009 non-notable autobiography exists under that title? Pages are moved by administrators (whose opinions I trust over users') at WP:RM/TR all the time because the less-disambiguated namespaces that have alternate meanings "are unlikely to be created [for another purpose], if at all" (that's what the admin Anthony Appleyard (talk · contribs) uses in his edit summaries a lot). Considering I don't see Good Times! being created for a seven-year-old autobiography any time soon, it doesn't need to be redirected to a more-disambiguated title for no specified reason. Ss112 23:33, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the existence of punctuation sufficiently disambiguates the title from other albums named "Good Times" that don't share the use of an exclamation mark in the title. Ss112 23:37, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The same goes for Kingsized (Dressy Bessy album). Is there even another thing titled Kingsized? Another album titled Kingsized? You immediately jumped to disambiguating by name and album. There's no grounds or reasons for moves like these. Ss112 23:57, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
 • Copy of a message sent to Anthony Appleyard on this subject: "Hi, just wanted to ask you since you're an administrator who moves pages to requested namespaces quite a lot: In ictu oculi (talk · contribs) reverted my months-old move of the Monkees album Good Times! to the disambiguated namespace Good Times! (The Monkees album), which I then undid citing your reasoning that the original title is unlikely to be created for anything else, if at all. Is this Wikipedia policy itself, is it based on WP:Notability, or is it just up to other users' personal preference whether they choose to disambiguate something unnecessarily? In ictu oculi and several other users seem to unnecessarily move pages because they think that punctuation isn't enough to separate the title from similar titles without the punctuation (in this instance, other albums with the title Good Times). Ss112 23:43, 15 September 2016 (UTC)". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:04, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
 • Sorry to User:Ss112, but I do not remember ever using the literal text "are unlikely to be created [for another purpose], if at all" in an edit summary. In my opinion, stray ornamental punctuation is not an adequate disambiguation; many people look for something whose name they remember or heard, rather than something whose name they have in print in front of them, and stray ornamental punctuation or other stylizing is likely to be forgotten or not known. About "Kingsized", I have seen or heard the word "kingsized" many times, often in advertisements for goods. Some may say that ambiguity between two items with very similar names is ambiguity, even if one of them is not described in Wikipedia. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:19, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Anthony Appleyard: Sorry, upon further inspection, it was SNUGGUMS who requested a move for Joanne (album) that you performed at WP:RM/TR, and said "No other album under this title warrants an article or is likely to anytime soon if at all". If that reasoning wasn't sound—as there are other albums titled "Joanne"—the move shouldn't have been performed, should it? Also, kingsized wasn't disambiguated to the actual size of an item—IIO merely redirected it to the more disambiguated namespace. That's pointless. If there was a concern that it meant kingsize, which has an article, then it should have been redirected there. As for Good Times!, as that is the correct namespace for the album, Good Times! (The Monkees album) redirects there, so anybody looking for the Monkees' album will then see with the exclamation mark is correct. There is no point moving and then redirecting the previous namespace of an album title, as if ambiguity exists over the previous namespace, then something should have been done with the previous namespace besides redirecting to the x ([artist] album) title. Ss112 05:24, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This is about far more than the two I've listed here. As I pointed out, over the years I have seen IIO move hundreds of pages that have not needed to be moved at all, considering there would be very little ambiguity or confusion with quite unique namespaces, and if there was, it could surely be fixed with a hatnote or some other small feature. Besides, in one of these instances, why the jump from Kingsized to Kingsized (Dressy Bessy album)? Why not Kingsized (album)? Why not Good Times! (album), as there is no other album listed on Wikipedia as Good Times!? Ss112 05:29, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
By all means those should be just (album). I hadn't finished. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:51, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
"I hadn't finished" – you did plenty of things after moving Good Times! I don't know what that even means. You were going to create another redirect? Also, your talk page message to me, "Is this album in any way notable"? Firstly, please keep the discussion here and just ping me. Secondly, if it wasn't, why bother moving it at all? You must be assuming I care about it more than moving it to a namespace where no other notable thing exists. Ss112 07:23, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Because "no other notable thing exists" isn't correct is it? The album isn't notable; tt probably needs a prod on it. Wikipedia already contains other content for "Kingsized", quite apart from the basic meaning, beds. Really discussion needs to be on Talk:Kingsized. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:26, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This was one example of a few of hundreds of unnecessary redirects you've made over the years. My message wasn't concerning whether the album is notable or not. Personally, and many other Wikipedia editors appear to agree, hence Joanne (album) being moved by AA and many other things requested at places like WP:RM/TR, is that if no other thing has an article or it is unlikely to be created, then there is no point unnecessarily disambiguating. If somebody else creates something under a very similar namespace, then the discussion/moves can be made. Until then, linking things like Good Times! to Good Times! (The Monkees album) when no other album exists with the punctuation intact is unnecessary. Ss112 07:32, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please stop moving things to my talk page based on moves you're quoting to me? Thanks. Also, I don't see why I would have to discuss moves you have the issue with (and clearly nobody else since June has had an issue with). You should have taken it to the talk page before moving it again. Ss112 07:36, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but you removed (The Monkees album) from the album, and I reverted you, I have cited Rolling Stone on the article talk page. The conversation should be there Talk:Good Times!. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:40, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and I just said, nobody else since June had an issue with the title being changed. I didn't have an "issue" per se, I saw nothing else was at Good Times! and thought an editor had unnecessarily disambiguated. You reverted, hence why I thought you "reverting" again should have been discussed. If you are implying I should have discussed this months ago, I see you hardly ever discuss moves you make, by moving albums to x ([artist] album), so I don't see that I should have been required to if you don't feel you are. To avoid a subsequent potential move war, after the initial move, it should then be discussed on the talk page. As I specified, the main point of this discussion or whatever it is is not this or the Kingsized example. it is one of many examples of unnecessary disambiguations you have made over the years, from what I have seen. Ss112 07:50, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well your undiscussed move stands, you reverted my revert, and I'm graciously letting it be, so what is the problem? Please discuss on the article itself so that history related to the article stays in one place. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:53, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have said this four or five times now, this isn't about one or two particular examples. I don't understand your reasoning for moving many things. Again, from what I have seen from glancing at your contributions, you hardly ever discuss moving things, so again, I don't see why this particular example would have required me to in June. User:George Ho and apparent collusion[edit]

I just want to let you know, I don't know what personal comments directed at you in edits or edit summaries you were referring to, and I have no idea why George Ho (talk · contribs) wrote "looks like you're on your own without me" on my talk page (although I assumed he meant that I was the only other editor he notified of the Arbitration request that actually wrote anything substantial on the request). I was aware of him, but have never talked to him before. If he stalked your edits to see who you had discussed things with or has some kind of grudge against you, that's news to me. I'm mostly only aware of your music page moves, and perhaps several others (I don't quite remember) after looking at your edit history after those times. I don't follow any user around, as I'm mostly off on my own path. If it's seemed like that, then I apologise, but that's not the case. Ss112 07:29, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The user edit comparison tool indicates that you are following me around. There are many other editors who disambiguate articles, you could try following them occasionally. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:31, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've used that tool before to search random users who edit the same music articles as I do and it honestly could be used to show any kind of "stalking". I don't think that's definitive proof of anything, and as I just told you, I have looked at your edit history before after seeing various music-related moves you made and then based on that, edited/moved pages I saw had been moved, in my opinion, unnecessarily, but I don't "follow you". • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
 • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
 • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

Disambiguation redirects[edit]

I just wanted to tell you to be careful when you're moving articles to new names with parenthetical disambiguation (like FooFoo (album)). After the move, if there is a dab page involved, please don't change the target of the remaining redirect to be the dab page. This makes Foo point at Foo (disambiguation), which is backwards from what it should be: it has become a malplaced disambiguation page. These are listed by a bot for repair, and it often involves WP:RMT or even a full WP:RM. If you could take care of the RM at the time that you move the page, it would save time and effort for other editors. Thanks! — Gorthian (talk) 22:44, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. -- GB fan 18:15, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Review - newsletter[edit]

Hello In ictu oculi,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 816 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

FWIW, the nominator at that move request has some sort of ban from either creating or editing redirects. I cannot remember which one, or if the ban is still in effect. Either way, they could have just placed an edit request on the redirect's talk page instead of starting a move request on a different page. (I don't think the ban included editing redirects' talk pages.) Steel1943 (talk) 22:36, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I understand now, thanks for heads up In ictu oculi (talk) 08:53, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Weija-Gbawe (Ghana parliament constituency)[edit]

It's in the RM backlog, and as you've already closed one of the duplicate RMs I thought it best to leave this one to you rather than getting up to speed on it myself... but happy to work on it if you have no time right now.

Best of the season. Andrewa (talk) 16:10, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 'Tis the Season (Vince Gill and Olivia Newton-John album), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

Tis the season[edit]

I withdrew my G4 and renominated it. Did you not notice that the Hit FM Radio link is just a Wikipedia mirror? I don't think the other sources are any good either. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 14:46, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas![edit]

I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings".  :) BOZ (talk) 01:30, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just letting you know that I've reverted the move you performed few hours ago as that was an undiscussed move. Request to revert the move was made at WP:RMT. Feel free to start RM discussion. Cheers. Fuortu (talk) 21:48, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Fuortu: thanks for the ping, out of interest what do you yourself think about whether dots distinguish one acronym from another? Just curious. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:49, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Since there is no other article with the dots in acronym, I think it is a good disambiguator, and band is known for having dots in the acronym, so that is unlikely to be a problem for readers who are trying to find the article. A hatnote to the disambiguation page is enough, in my opinion. Fuortu (talk) 22:12, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I don't see from sources that those dots are unique, but thanks for response. Happy New Year. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:14, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Happy new year :) Fuortu (talk) 22:16, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not entirely sure what you meant by "unique". There's one source in that article which uses the dots consistently throughout the article. And the Youtube videos of the band also have dots in the acronym. They may not be notable but they are known for having the dots in their name. As the other article doesn't have dots in its common name, it won't be a problem for the readers, who are used to seeing their names with or without dots, to find the article they are looking for. Even if they click on wrong article, there's a hatnote pointing to DAB page. Fuortu (talk) 16:01, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
