There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

The article Kurt Frederick has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. December 2011[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Leo Núñez a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:58, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There was a previous discussion to move the page at Talk:Leo Núñez#Requested move, but there was no consensus. If you would like to initiate another request and can demonstrate that WP:COMMONNAME is now met, please follow instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves.—Bagumba (talk) 17:44, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Tommy Rees (rugby), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Tommy Rees. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:08, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Tommy Rees (rugby)[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Tommy Rees (rugby). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Tommy Rees (rugby footballer). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Tommy Rees - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Filing Flunky (talk) 14:19, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Kyle Cofield has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable baseball player

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Are you serious?[edit]

Are you seriously not going to update the whole Dave Sappelt article? Do you not realize by not updating the whole article you are making it confusing for readers with the inconsistency in the article. If a person didn't here about his release and visit the article they are going to see that it says he is a free agent in the infobox, but in the intro it says he still plays with the Cubs. Hey, just want to thank you for updating the last three quarterfinal matches on 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. I'm pretty gutted that Washington lost to New Mexico, I thought they were gonna make it. Just a small note though, next time you add a match report, add the link to the article discussing the match itself instead of the link to the stat sheet because stat sheet's are linked in the article and also the article provides more detail. Hopefully I made sense. Other than that, you did a good job. – Michael (talk) 02:53, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Notre Dame–USC football rivalry shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Please talk about it on the talk page. No sense in reverting. Corkythehornetfan (Talk) 12:23, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Ronald Bermúdez[edit]

The article Ronald Bermúdez has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable minor league baseball player

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Talk:Cyril Richardson (American football) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Talk:Cyril Richardson. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. —BarrelProof (talk) 20:06, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tyrus Thompson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. About Cedric Thompson[edit]

Hi Joeykai,
As far as I can see, the Big Ten college footballer Cedric Thompson is the same Cedric Thompson who has not yet played a game for the Dolphins. I can only scant mentions of Thompson in the usual college football reliable websites. I can't find any mentions in reliable sources that Thompson was other than a pick in the draft. Am I missing something here?

T status in the World Cup[edit]

The template documentation does not say they have to be one of the top four third-place teams to get the T status; it says they get the status if they can finish no worse than third in the group. If they lock down a top-four third-place slot, then their status would change to A. —C.Fred (talk) 04:39, 13 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

C.Fred, "Qualified, but not yet to the particular phase indicated." makes no sense because there is only one phase to advance to and Canada hasn't qualified to the knockout phase. "Clinched at least 3rd place, but not assured to advance." is much more clear.Joeykai (talk) 04:42, 13 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

June 2015[edit]

Information icon Please don't change the format of dates, as you did to Fabian Johnson. As a general rule, if an article has evolved using predominantly one format, the dates should be left in the format they were originally written in, unless there are reasons for changing it based on strong national ties to the topic. Please also note that Wikipedia does not use ordinal suffixes (e.g., st, nd, th), articles, or leading zeros on dates.

For more information about how dates should be written on Wikipedia, please see this page.

If you have any questions about this, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Enjoy your time on Wikipedia. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:44, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Fabian Johnson. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

Please stop making pointless and unnecessary date format changes[edit]

i.e.: [3]. The one and only thing you are accomplishing with things like this is wasting the time of people who maintain articles. If the citation formatting is in yyyy-mm-dd, then it is fine. Resolute 00:59, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That said, thank you for [4]. This I do appreciate. Resolute 01:00, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at Kevin O'Leary, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Dl2000 (talk) 02:57, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's been a few years and you did it again. The subject has no strong national ties to either US civil dates (MDY) or "international" dates (DMY) so we rely on using the data first established. It's bet not to change arbitrarily, and and to explaining why when doing so. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:12, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

He's Brazilian and Brazil uses dmy. I had thought that was a strong national tie. Joeykai (talk) 22:20, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Brazil may use dmy, MOS:TIES primarily addresses English-speaking nation and so we need to rely on DATERET. However, if you gain consensus to go against DATERET (and If I'm watching the article, you would have my support for non-North American subjects), such a change is appropriate. Alternately, explain that you believe that TIES should be applied, explain that in the edit summary. Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:36, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My bad[edit]

Hi there from Portugal Joey,

it was not exactly an accusation that I made, but I was wrong the same. Please accept my renewed apologies regarding this (see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#2013_FIFA_U-20_World_Cup_players), I also left an explanatory note therein.

  • I know you are not going to reply to me, but that's OK, don't know why but that's fine. But please, before you revert me again in Grégory Arnolin, ask WP:FOOTY to see if I'm lying (I am not, I only want to help out), intros are to be kept simple, Arnolin's intro should read "...is a French footballer..." or "...is a footballer", since he plays for Martinique only from time to time. Never French-Martiniquais, please.

Attentively --84.90.219.128 (talk) 02:59, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nomination of DeQuin Evans[edit]

Hello! Your submission of DeQuin Evans at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! BlueMoonset (talk) 03:10, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Joeykai, thanks for submitting the nomination, but I'm afraid it had to be rejected. The article is no longer new—you started it on March 20—and nominations need to be made within seven days of creation or expansion. (This was over three and a half months.) Before your July 12 edits the article was at 1116 prose characters (and 1198 afterwards). DYK minimum is 1500 prose characters for new articles, and for articles that aren't new, the article needs to be expanded to at least five times its pre-expansion size—this would mean the article would need to be 5590 prose characters to qualify. I hope you try DYK again in the future with an article newly created within the past week. Please let me know if you have any questions. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:10, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
