Ever eat at that Moroccan restaurant on New York Avenue called Marrakesh? They have a great 7 course meal for around $30. The price keeps changing every time I go, there is no menu, you don't get a receipt, and they never return your change after you pay. Its my fave place to eat, despite the trickery when it comes time to pay. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) 19:18, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

About using Internet Explorer 6

In case you didn't see my reply at the village pump, I wanted to tell you that the browser you are using, Internet Explorer 6, has many known bugs that will diminish your ability to view Wikipedia properly. For example, pages will load more slowly and some pages may be distorted. I would encourage you upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 or use a different browser such as Firefox or Opera. All three of these programs can be downloaded free of charge. If you have any questions about this, just let me know. —Remember the dot (talk) 02:09, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

(replying to message on my talk page) - I'm really sorry. I meant to post that message to Skittle's talk page, not yours. My apologies. —Remember the dot (talk) 20:09, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Inconsistancies at Governor Lists & bios

Hello John. Could you look at List of Governors of New York and NY Gov bios; List of Governors of Alabama and Ala Gov bios? There's confuson/inconsistancies with the numbering & tenures of Governors. GoodDay 23:02, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Alamba Gov examples: List says Bob Riley is 52nd Governor, yet Bob Riley says 57th.
:New York Gov examples: List says George Pataki served 'til 31 Dec 2006, yet George Pataki says 'til 1 Jan 2007. GoodDay 23:16, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Sombody, changed the List of Governors of New York to match the bios. The list used to have tenures ending on Dec 31st. GoodDay 23:23, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
I'll give it a try. Oh, it was an anon editor User: Rkt2312 on September 1, 2007 who changed the New York list. GoodDay 23:38, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Index

Can the editor's index be moved to project space? It's good :)

My focus is on things that make life easier for others here. In part, anyhow. I'll come back to you on this, or if I don't, please come back to me. :) FT2 (Talk | email) 16:41, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Indeed

It was Vandalproof messing up the the reverts and warnings. I fixed it. I updated to a newer version. Wikidudeman (talk) 00:29, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Rename

Rationale When a word is at the beginning or the end of a parenthetical phrase, it is capitalized - e.g. (Give Me A) Hug, or That's All I Want (A Hug). -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 22:34, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Help Please

First off, I would like to thank you for welcoming me to Wikipedia and your suggestions! I tried using the 4 tildes as my signature on a talk page but it comes up as (User:noneforalllnoneforall 23:55, 12 November 2007 (UTC)) and the link leads to a blank page and not my user page. Here is the talk page that it happened on Talk:Jay Treaty. I'll appreciate any help you can can give me. -User talk:noneforall

Thanks for your help once again!!! (Noneforall 00:39, 13 November 2007 (UTC))

Self-references

Hey JB - I saw on my talk page you took issue with my removal of your link to WP:N from List of social networking websites. That change too was my attempt at avoiding self-references, because that guideline says SR's include "Any link in an article in the main namespace that links to one in the Wikipedia namespace. Such links are self-referential because the pages they link to have "Wikipedia" in their titles." I would like to take out that link, but wanted to let you know my logic for doing so first. Let me know your thoughts. UnitedStatesian 06:02, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Veropedia

Isn't Veropedia just a crib of the Wikipedia Selection (which had already 4500 articles in Mar edition) just with a much lower public profile? Suggesting we start there seems a bit cart about horse? Personally I am happy to use their list if you think there is actually anything new? --BozMo talk 10:13, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Ok. Is there a list of the article version numbers used at Veropedia somewhere? The DVD production software essentially eats a list of historic versions from WP and a list of checked updates would help. Merging with someone makes sense to us. --BozMo talk 17:33, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Liberation News (Internationalist)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Liberation News (Internationalist), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Duncan (talk) 00:15, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Considering that my my recent four edits (of five total) were in December 2006, repeatedly removing images from the article that I and several other editors thought were irrelevant, I can't say that I had lot invested in this article. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 13:16, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi John!

Thanks for the information you put on my talk page! From where in the world are you? Enjoy the day eh! Daniel 06:17, 19 November 2007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bold Vier (talkcontribs)

My understanding was that guidelines are descriptive pages of current practice. Classification has been established on Fooian Fooer categories for quite some time. If it isn't a guideline, what is it? -- SamuelWantman 22:09, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Straw poll at WP:NOR

This has been pointed out to me but it's too late to fix it since so many votes are in, but I should have worded the question more clearly. I just want to make sure you understood that a "NO" means you want PSTS clause to stay in the policy in some form. Thanks. Professor marginalia (talk) 00:59, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

2007

You are welcome to add the remaining 299 bots to the chronicle of wikipedia. `'Míkka>t 17:03, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

I don't care what and when other editors will add and what a naive reader will think. Just like you, I have other things to do. And among these other things there is no intention to delete correct and verifiable information on a whim. The bot in qestion exists, does a useful thing, and part of the history of wikipedia, which is not paper. The rest is irrelevant and I have no intention to waste more time on this issue. `'Míkka>t 22:20, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Signature2

Thanks for the info on the signature, but how do you make it bold? I mean where do you put it?--Barkjon talk 23:36, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Category Intersection

I am interesting in proposing Category_intersection to wikipedia, and i would appreciate help in terms of the procedure. It seems an effective way of making categories more efficient, and i cant think of any problems except for the bureaucracy to get this feature installed.Chendy 17:58, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Recovered memory therapy

Hi - dont know if you are in the mood for knocking heads together,if not, read no further. I responded to a RfC at Recovered memory therapy and its a little disfunctional over there. Weight and RS are foriegn concepts to 1 or more very voluminous editors. And then there is the disturbing subcurrent around paedophilia. If you are winding down for Xmas or have forsworn violence could you point me in the right direction. Sorry bout this. SmithBlue (talk) 03:56, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

What you've suggested is just what I need at the moment - somewhere to go if things go pear shaped. Thanks, Merry Xmas SmithBlue (talk) 07:58, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Gadgets

Thank you for your feedback on WP:VPT regarding Gadgets. I've made some adjustments that I hope are in the right direction. A thread regarding the types of gadgets to include has been started at MediaWiki_talk:Gadgets-definition#Admin_Gadgets, your comments would be welcome. Did some cleanup, January 2007; this read like a resume. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 13:38, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey. I just noticed your page from a Whatlinkshere search. An interesting idea. I myself have pages on my watchlist that I ran into at New Page Patrol, whose quality I am uncertain of. Some of them I added WP:PROD to, and the prods were removed. Do you have a plan of what to do with the entries in your page? EdJohnston (talk) 20:58, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Sleepsack

I am actually a trademark and copyright attorney. I was adding content for my client. The external link I will remove, but it does not appear to harm anyone to have who the manufacturer of the product that is protected by IP rights is, see Coca Cola, Kodak and the like. I am new to Wikipedia and spent a LOT of time making that table. Why was it removed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alligunz (talkcontribs) 16:02, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for the trouble, but you'll have to copy the code from Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/qSig again: it has been fixed not to expand ~~~~ inside the script itself ∴ AlexSm 00:04, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Nullification Crisis Lede

The tag you placed on the article suggests that material from the lede could be removed to the body of the article. In fact, everything in the lede is already contained somewhere in the article. IMO the lede accomplishes what it is supposed to do -- accurately summarizes the article. It was within the paragraph guidelines (admittedly some very long paragraphs but not unprecedented given the historical signficance of this event) for an article its size (3-4 paragraphs) until another editor split a paragraph in two which may or may not have been necessary.

The lede was originally expanded on August 15, 2007 at the suggestion of an editor on the talk page to four relatively short paragraphs. The lede grew as the result of the intervention of another editor who atempted to add a POV to the lede not reflected in the article -- the expansion was the result of adding specific documentation from the article to counter his undocumented additions.

The major expansion came in areas related to the background which, IMO, could easily be eliminated from the lede. My intent, if you will agree, is to restore the August 15, 2007 lede with some small additions. If this does not satisfy your objections, please give me your read on exactly what needs to be eliminated. The suggestion has been made on a couple of occasions to reduce the lede to one paragraph and include the balance in an overview section; this is not within Wikipedia gudelines and I trust that is not what you are promoting.
