Kazuya Mishima and others[edit]

I noticed your recent comeback. Hope you enjoy editing. By the way, I recently made article Kazuya Mishima become GA. Due to some guidelines I rearranged the reception as carefully as possible but I am open to advices. I could barely find creation about him so I don't know if you had. Hope Taki stays but I don't have too much information about Soulcalibur series. Additionally, if you are interested, I'm planning to nominate Vergil (Devil May Cry) once its copyedit is finished but I wonder if had any comments about it. I have been working way more on the Devil May Cry characters too, making Lady and Trish's articles. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 17:59, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for September 29[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Bowsette, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Canon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:23, 29 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I love when you created an article that was trending it really helps reader know on what it is, thanks alot, hoping you to create another hot trending thing, Moth meme which is called "Moth Lamp" there are lot of sources.

Sorry but this is just a one-off, and I'm not really keen on writing about random meme articles on wikipedia.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 12:12, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Help copy edit, improvements, add archive link for article Maureen Wroblewitz. Thanks you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.214.50.24 (talk) 11:51, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Devil May Cry characters[edit]

On the past months, I've managed to bring Trish and Vergil to GA and now I'm with Trish (Devil May Cry). I requested a copyedit but it is gonna take more time so if you had advice or aid, it would be welcome. Nice work with the Bowsette article.Tintor2 (talk) 16:46, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Tintor2: Thanks man, I might take a look. Sorry to leave you hanging awhile back, I'm still semi-retired as is. Things have slowed down a lot on wikipedia it seems.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 03:17, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Trish (Devil May Cry) became a GA. Now all DMC character article are GA except Nero which I wonder if we should wait for the release of 5 to have more information about him. Feel free to do anything.Tintor2 (talk) 15:51, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for bothering you but I have been expanding The King of Fighters and found no sites that might contain the Chinese comics. I noticed you made references to the Chinese comics in Nemesis but I have not found such data. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:31, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

Per MOS:EGG, "Keep piped links as intuitive as possible. Per the principle of least astonishment, make sure that the reader knows what to expect when clicking on a link. You should plan your page structure and links so that everything appears reasonable and makes sense. If a link takes readers to somewhere other than where they thought it would, it should at least take them somewhere that makes sense." When I clicked the link, I expected to be taken to a link on the author, but got re-directed to the comic. As WP:EGG suggests we shouldn't even link "Columbus Avenue" to link to Christopher Columbus (which seems slightly more obvious to me), I think this one should not link directly. Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:25, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Andrzejbanas: Yeah apparently the artist himself isn't as notable as the work, so I can get that. Just hoping still it can pull through GA at this point, lot of folks seem...less than keen on having the page up on wikipedia.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 17:26, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

SNK characters[edit]

I've noticed you seem interested in merging some Street Fighter characters. Are there others from SNK that could be merged? I mean, I completely forgot about Billy Kane, Kim or Ryuji Yamazaki since they are so small. There is also the list List of KOF: Maximum Impact characters which could disappear since the Maximum Impact subseries lasted only two games and one update. On the other hand, certain characters like Kula, Athena and the Art of Fighting trio (Ryo, Robert and Yuri) got some expansion in the previous months but I wanted your opinion. MissingNo.[edit]

Yes I'm that IP, and if it keeps changing it's maybe because of privacy security antivirus related software. I understand I can be banned by this. It was because there are integrity issues; there are new sources now, in that sense for factual accuracy not (deep down selective), this though does need updating, what then if the apparent 'reliable' sources still are biased on the wiki for certain claims too, such as Nintendo Life? Also The Cutting Room Floor has an article because it has "media impact" yes, but what if those media call The Cutting Room Floor reliable - and the reporter is apparently a reliable source/e.g. professional journalist? This is also related to Milgram experiment; we should cite reliable sources yes; but the reliable sources cannot stay reliable forever. It is stuck in 1998-~2000 when it was first found. If a reliable source emerges, its not necessarily they found it first too; because dataminers did it, but we can't cite disassemblies. I also added "weasel words" because the text says "sociologists" ; so there is a biased spin on MissingNo. about sociological impact. The one elaborated the most on looked just William Sims Bainbridge, except maybe the one Python package inspiration, maybe others. Some pages still cite wikis, and are not reverted. For instance, the video game article Kiki Trick cites The Kyoto Report; which sounds reliable but is a wiki too - yet wikis are not necessarily unreliable sources; because it cited the game credits. By that logic Wikipedia itself may be unreliable. It was kept, but other articles need critical reception. 95.145.158.20 (talk) 18:02, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

MissingNo. FAR[edit]

I have nominated MissingNo. for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Blah2 (talk) 19:31, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Abobo-arcade.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Abobo-arcade.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (tc) 02:38, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there[edit]

Long time no see Kung Fu Man. How are you doing? Here I've been working on some anime articles involving Darker than Black and the Yakuza spinoffs Judgment. However, I have yet to buy Lost Judgment before expanding its lead character, Takayuki Yagami. A friendly user known as Haleth has also been making big articles like the settings Midgar (FF7) and Kamurocho (Yakuza). You plan to work on something? Last time I saw that "SNAKE" user who was indifenitely blocked was when Terry Bogard was expanded, suggesting a GA nomination. Feel free to edit anything. Then again, I don't plan to focus on KOF for a long while.Tintor2 (talk) 23:28, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently trying to clean up a lot of the female video game character articles on here. SNAKE did a lot of damage and a lot of articles need fixing, what I'd like to be able to do is clean up [[Category:Female characters in video games]] to the point most of the articles are GA or better, though that might be some pipe dreaming on my end.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:50, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't been creating female articles from gaming other than Haruka Sawamura or Atoli. I've been trying to find one from Tsukasa from .hack too but I couldn't find any creation source. Oh yeah, forgot about Kyoko Kirigiri but the article is lacking material from her novel which was never translated.Tintor2 (talk) 20:32, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Kung Fu Man! It appears you inserted a template onto these two articles listed, but no discussion began. I would begin this discussion in part of the steps on WP:MERGE, in order to get the discussion going. Panini!🥪 01:28, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SNAKE/Niemti articles[edit]

Hi Kung Fu Man. I noticed that you are culling bad content on several articles for female fighting game characters, particularly ones which were primarily authored by Niemti. There are quite a few other questionable Mortal Kombat and Dead or Alive character articles authored by Niemti., butI thought I'd draw your attention to a particularly egregious example which was actually assessed as GA and stayed that way on Wikipedia for nearly a decade: Mileena. Not sure if you are motivated to fix it as I got a headache after reading through the reception section. Haleth (talk) 00:20, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'll definitely get to it, he did a royal mess on a lot of the articles. I get he thought he was doing great stuff but in the end it caused a huge rift, namely with how people see list references on the site. My main focus at the moment is to try and get a majority of the Female video game character articles to GA at least. Alongside what he did however, we've also got several articles that have a good amount of reception, but just not enough other content in the article to keep them afloat without repeating stuff from the parent game. That's why I suggested the merges I did, and there's two other articles in that same boat I'm going to also. I'm definitely not trying to take a deletionist approach to it, but I think if we can get the count to a feasibly close level some of the folks complaining about character articles existing will cool their jets a bit in turn.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:42, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Resident Evil[edit]

Long time no see. It's amazing how every Resident Evil character became GA. I didn't work in anyone except for that tidbit from Leon's article as I had access to an artbook from 6. An article I worked the most in the past month is Resident Evil: Damnation but I don't know if I could further expand the reception section. Cheers. Tintor2 (talk) 21:39, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Voldo[edit]

I really disliked the new image. The old one seems better because it shows how weird (as the sources said) the character moves when fighting. The new image is also very tiny. GlatorNator () 13:24, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I added a gif the article for the moment, a big thing with infobox images, especially if you get it to GA or higher, is they should be in a pose that shows the character full on optimally. I'll see if I can find something a bit better.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 13:51, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, just like you did to Cassandra Alexandra, does Raiden (Mortal Kombat) could possibly get the same treatment? I couldn't do it on mobile. GlatorNator () 01:01, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Part of the problem is there may be sources for Raiden but I haven't dug through enough. It's easier when going through a whole series like Soulcalibur pages at once because you start running across sources that overlap each other. My experiences with Mortal Kombat outside of examining Reptile's role as an easter egg years ago are more limited, even if the sources there are pretty bad atm.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 02:12, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problem with it being used for notability, but it says it shouldn't be used for it. Even an admin also said. Maybe one of you, if you're interested, should start the discussion so we have consensus on it. GlatorNator () 04:36, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This conversation is starting to get confusing not going to lie, a task force might not be a bad idea. As for the article, I think we can be fine to Be Bold and not have to bother admins on this one. It's definitely a case of the source should be extremely situational, but wholesale deciding a entire *source* can't be said for reception, especially if it'd be fine if another source said the exact same things, doesn't sit well with me.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 04:40, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@User:GlatorNator: While we're talking, what do you think about this as a source if Astaroth survives his AfD?: https://gamerant.com/soulcalibur-character-designs-skins-best-worst/ It's GameRant, but he is a staff writer that has written at other publications, and he does go a bit in-depth on his thoughts regarding the designs. There's a similar article by another author discussing the best and worst characters gameplay wise of the series, that also mentions him.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 02:55, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am not yet too familiar with the sources. I've seen multiple editors hate on GameRant as a source. But, I am sure Li Long would survive. I would recommend working on it :D. GlatorNator () 03:30, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly I think Li Long is stuck where he is for now. There's two point of discussion on the character, a Japanese book that cites him as an example of asian "Kung fu" stereotypes that I'd have to purchase to properly cite, and another that discusses the censorship of his weapon and how the writer was unaware of such censorship policies, but that one cites CensoredGaming as a source in turn and I feel they're not reliable for Wikipedia. More sources may come up over time, that's happened. It doesn't help either that we've lost a lot of websites that did discuss characters in varying degrees.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 04:02, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think Siegfried and Nightmare notable? Article js full of unsourced statements/crufts. I think this is the only useful source on them [1]. Also, keep your eyes on Hildegard von Krone. GlatorNator () 13:14, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nightmare *might* be, but I'm pretty sure Siegfried isn't. Hildegard I feel may be after some researching a lot of the reaction over her was how cheap she was but also that she was such a contrast against more sexualized designs. I can guarantee Sophitia passes though: she's come up twice quite a bit in Hutchinson's studies, and a few others I've run across if memory serves.
How are you feeling regarding Astaroth now?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:02, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Thanks. About Astaroth, no idea since situational sources cant be used for notability unfortunately. In Killer Instinct, I think none of the three are notable? Jago [2] and Fulgore [3] has received only one sigcov but that alone is not good. GlatorNator () 21:55, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Situational sources cant be used for notability unfortunately." Says who? I mean, I know that the apparent "consensus" (I put it in quotation marks for a reason) is that Game Rant, Screen Rant and The Gamer can't be used for notability, but that doesn't deal with all situational sources. MoonJet (talk) 03:19, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I get folks are wary about them, but there's a huge difference in this instance of citing Complex's nonstop lists and citing statements that are actively discussing a character and giving feedback. Not to mention there was another published study added to the article that directly cites the character, that should count for something.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 03:29, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Random question: Wouldn't be easier adding a free image from Lambert to Raiden and replace it, and then add the regular Raiden? With both Mortal Kombat timelines, both Dark Raiden and Raiden default became more popular. I don't know which Raiden persona is more fitting for the infobox but at least with a free image from an adaptation, the main series gets more treatment. I did that with Liu Kang's actors so that his other God persona from 11 which who is a bit commented in an article can get used. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:05, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hilde[edit]

Hey, KFM. I've restored your merging of Hilde into the Soulcalibur article after Moon reverted it. I myself couldn't find any significant coverage after a search. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 05:49, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well the main article's still up at the moment from Moon's revert, I was curious if she could find anything but the sources are all the same. Honestly I'm not sure how to approach that given it's GA. I don't think Tira ends up passing either after cleaning that out, everything's primary and she was ignored by studies and other discussions entirely...this whole thing has been a depressing mess.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 06:17, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominating them for AFD would be the best option. GlatorNator () 09:55, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The irony is if the article is nominated, then it’s a losing proposition for Moon and anyone else wanting to keep it. sixtynine • whaddya want? • 20:42, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes an article works, and sometimes it doesn't. I'd rather do this properly and try merge proposals first. I still don't care for the AfD setup, as I have concerns if reception does manifest for any of these characters down the road (which can happen) I'd rather not fight "BUT IT WAS AFD'D YOU CAN'T DO THAT" rules lawyers.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 21:21, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Book/old interview[edit]

Hey KFM, sorry for bothering you. It seems like you were good at finding old interviews/books for concept and design/development info of characters. Is there any chance for Merchant (Resident Evil)? (Was done working on Ada Wong and moving on to merchant, still tired to work on Albert Wesker remaining sources at talk page and to overhaul its reception :P). GlatorNator () 11:50, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There really isn't much at all Glator from what I can find at a cursory glance, even his concept art is sparse. However that tweet that was cited has a lot more info than is in the article and needs to have the text added as is. Won't bulk it up terribly, but should give it a bit of body.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 15:46, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I guess not all articles could possibly be made into GA. Thanks. GlatorNator () 16:42, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What are you talking about? Focus on the info you have at hand. You can still discuss his design and appearance for example. And like I said that quote does mention a lot more, as well as earlier in the thread discuss the directives given for designing characters which may also help.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:49, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Makoto (Street Fighter)[edit]

The article Makoto (Street Fighter) you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Makoto (Street Fighter) for comments about the article, and Talk:Makoto (Street Fighter)/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Re: Using preview[edit]

Since you deleted the section, I still feel I have to set the record straight. I wasn't trying to be rude or insulting, I literally said that when I posted the note. Your assumption of bad faith is unwarranted, I don't see how long you spent on Wikipedia has to do with anything, I was literally just going by your current editing behavior. For example on the Merchant article you made ~20 edits in a single session. If there's a specific reason for doing so, I won't judge, but I do not feel it was unwarranted to inform you of Preview and more condensed editing. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 01:15, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There was a reason for those edits: I don't just focus on text placement but also composition, especially when an image is involved. And while you might not think it came across as rude, it certainly did. I try to give you a wide berth because we have very different approaches to this site, and am fine working with you on topics, but I don't possibly see how you couldn't have thought "tell the guy that's been here for about two decades how the preview button works in a matter of fact manner" isn't going to rub someone wrong. I don't wish to discuss this further. Good day.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:21, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Invariably, posting what you posted is insulting. It is not an assumption of bad faith to say that what you did was rude, because no one assumed that you were doing it out of malice, but the fact that you can't understand why what you posted would cause offense is something that's going to get you on the wrong end of someone way meaner than KFM. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 01:26, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well done to both article, your hard work for the articles even inspired me to clean up Albert Wesker as well :D. GlatorNator () 20:33, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This might be my last question. I think there are no more notable RE characters to create, but I'm not sure about Karl Heisenberg notability yet on these sources [4] [5] [6], is he notable? (not gonna work on Baker family since its hard to work with multiple characters in it). I feel like I've been persistently asking question from you and Tintor2, sorry about that. GlatorNator () 11:32, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
He might be. Generally as a rule of thumb I try to compile information together as I go to get an article together, and see how the pieces fit before I bring it out. You can kinda see that at work on Maki Genryusai: pretty sure if she gets a SF6 appearance she'll be fine to spin back out. Here's some more sources on Karl: [7], [8], [9] (keep in mind for paper that are published, or by someone particularly notable like a professor). He's definitely *up* there, but this is outside of my usual scope to research on sadly. Outside of him, the only other one I can think of is perhaps Jack Baker, but there's a whole Baker family article.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 20:13, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Realistically speaking that's likely the case. I recognize the work put into these too which sucks, but yeah there's nothing really being *said*. I'll let someone else handle those redirects, as is I'm probably going to merge Cody and T. Hawk myself later today.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 13:32, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@GlatorNator: there's a published paper here that talks about Yuri in significant detail, and another [11] here that isn't published but also offers some thoughts to her, by a university professor. There's crossover discussion too regarding Dan Hibiki I've ran across. I'd say she'd squeak by, out of the lot mentioned above.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 22:26, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good findings, crossing out Yuri Sakazaki for now. GlatorNator () 22:30, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The article Voldo you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Voldo for comments about the article, and Talk:Voldo/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! Help needed[edit]

Hey again KFM. As per Talk:Ada Wong/GA2, I am aware this can be a bit disturbing for badgering people, but seeing your awesome work on plenty of articles, you seem to be too good at finding out sources for concept and a design/development section of the character (When it comes to that I have no idea and/or where to find/expand its section including lead since I have no idea what to say when summarizing). I have removed other unnecessary stuffs at that section and now it looks flimsy. I guess working on a notorious article is quite hard sadly. If you're free or interested, I hope you can help. Many Thanks! :]. GlatorNator () 09:55, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gimme a bit I just woke up. I think the problem is more how it's structured and written reading the GAN discussion though Glator. Lemme wake up a bit more and I'll take a look over it.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 18:50, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! GlatorNator () 20:37, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be real with you Glator, that article may need a bit of a rewrite. The main problem is some statements are weirdly placed, and others just don't seem to fully explain anything. For example you have one citing a book saying she was changed before the game's final release, but how? The siliconera ref actually had a lot more said too than was originally cited as you can see there.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 21:02, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I tried arranging it and remove others that are irrelevant. Thou, somehow I don't know/can't access on books/old sources. GlatorNator () 22:16, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
