Thanks[edit]

I forgot to formally thank you for working with me to promote "Never Learn Not to Love" to GA status. I also recently promoted it at DYK and it passed. I know I technically do not need to do this, but I really appreciate when an editor helps out in such a way. A barnstar for you![edit]

The Teamwork Barnstar
I appreciate every ounce of your patience with my nominations and I apologize that it took me so long to fix them up. Your suggestions and patience made great teamwork with me to promote the articles. You deserve a star for all the help you provided over three months of waiting...usually what it takes to even get a reviewer! Now, because I'm so busy, I'm going to take a thoroughly long break from GAN-related activity (at least 45 days). Thanks again for all your help and let this thing shine somewhere in one of your personal articles! dannymusiceditor Speak up! 00:52, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Editor's copying of copyrighted content to That's What I Like[edit]

Hi MSTF, you probably would have seen anyway, but an editor has been restoring copyrighted content (copied directly from Billboard's article) to That's What I Like (Bruno Mars song). If they do this again, can you please revert it? I'm sure some information could be adapted from the article, but not copied directly. Ss112 19:36, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Ss112: Sure. I will do it myself. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:41, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, just wondering: Where are you getting this update to the Dance Club Songs peak from? I didn't think Billboard charts updated until today. Ss112 08:16, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Ss112: Someone has been giving me those updates, they are always correct. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 12:18, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter that they're "always correct"—others need to be able to verify the peak. When you change it a day or two ahead of when Billboard updates, the peak is not shown at the source provided. Please wait until Billboard updates or provide a reliable source that shows the new peak. Thank you. Ss112 19:27, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Ss112: Its about 2/3 days of diference, if you are subscribed to the magazine you can get the peak earlier as well. However, I see where you are coming from and you are correct. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:32, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"That's What I Like" cover art[edit]

Regarding your revert here, I'm actually more inclined to say what you've restored was unofficial as it cannot be found anywhere outside of Wikipedia and may have been edited by a fan. What I inserted on the other hand is included in a legitimate page that's not just Wiki-spawn. There's also these links including my insertion without any fan edits. If that for some reason isn't convincing enough, then there's the thought of not including any art at all (which is better than including fake art). Snuggums (talk / edits) 17:38, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@SNUGGUMS: iTunes has a version of this (just with "remixes" on it) here, so it's official. Not sure about the non-"remixes"-bearing version, however. MarioSoulTruthFan is somewhat right, as they have stated before that Hung Medien sites often include fan art on song pages. I don't think the staff there know what is official themselves sometimes and what is not, as I don't think it's officially supplied to them. Ss112 19:03, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I did notice that iTunes remixes cover, Ss112, and instinct told me we should opt for non-remix artwork when available. Sorry if it led me in the wrong direction for this case. Haven't heard about Hung Medien using fan art before, but I definitely became suspicious when the version I found before uploading anything myself was nowhere to be found outside of this website (with the lack of a URL being the first warning sign). I have a strong feeling that it's a fan edit, which leads me to say it should be left out. Perhaps the edition containing "remixes" could be included if nothing else is valid. Snuggums (talk / edits) 20:14, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes nothing else is available there haven't been cover arts for the singles, only the remixes. See Versace on the floor, for instance. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:23, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Unless either of you have any objections, I'll insert the version including "remixes" in its title as the only known legit cover without fan edits (which can be used when nothing official is given for original/normal editions of songs). Snuggums (talk / edits) 21:35, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
For me it's fine. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:44, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Very well, I'm uploading the remix edition. Snuggums (talk / edits) 19:06, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nothin' on You[edit]

Hi there, just got the notification of your reversion of my changes to Nothin' on You. I feel I significantly improved the article (it had a ton of grammatical and other errors), and would like to resubmit the changes. If the paragraph breaks are the only problem, I'm fine with changing them back. However, I don't really understand why they are a problem. I put in what to me seemed like natural breaks between topics - what am I not understanding? Any help you can give me on this would be great - I'm not attached to this topic, I'd just like my time fixing the errors not not have been wasted. Thank you. Jessicapierce (talk) 01:15, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jessicapierce: The paragraphs are the only issue, I know it seemed like but the paragraphs are not divided by topics like you would have in a normal text, you usually have three paragraphs in the lead. Here have a link to an FA article, one of the latest approved, and take a look at the paragraphs you changed. Sure go ahead and fix the grammar errors. Thank you. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:40, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thanks for letting me know, that's helpful. I'll go ahead and resubmit those changes, minus the paragraph breaks. Jessicapierce (talk) 19:36, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I just resubmitted the edit, minus the paragraph changes. I double-checked and am 99% sure I got everything, but if there's something I missed, please just let me know and I'll be glad to fix it. Thanks again! Jessicapierce (talk) 19:45, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jessicapierce:Everything is fine, I will just give it a look. Why did you remove "Lee Tyler from Blues & Soul" review? It's a review of the song itself, which is hard to find, it should never be removed under any circumstances. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:30, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've never removed a critic's review from anything before, and I only did so here because there were so many grammatical errors in the review itself, that I thought it weakened the wikipedia article to include that quote. There was a missing word, an its/it's error, and "up lifting" written as two words instead as one... altogether, it just didn't seem professional to include it, and I thought the criticism section had more than enough content without it. If you'd like to reinclude it, do you think it would be possible at least to choose a different quote, without so many errors? Thanks for your time, I appreciate that you're so dedicated to improving this article. Jessicapierce (talk) 22:46, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jessicapierce: thank you for giving a better glance at the grammar. How about this one "Whilst not being content to just please the ear - B.o.B's debut single "Nothin' On You" seems to laden with instant charisma, stopping only to refresh the parts others cannot reach of late." The critic added, "A delight from start to finish". No errors, short and straight to the point. What are your thoughts? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 23:54, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That looks fine to me, with one small tweak. The critic left out the word "be," so you'd need to phrase it in one of two ways, either ""Nothin' On You" seems to [be] laden with instant charisma" or ""Nothin' On You" seems... laden with instant charisma". The second one is what I'd choose, but I don't think it matters much either way. Jessicapierce (talk) 01:33, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jessicapierce: Added and done. Thanks MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 09:22, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Some plain talk about Bruno Mars[edit]

I see we keep going back and forth on the Bruno Mars article, and I can't help but feel that part of this is because I haven't explained my point of view.
I used to work in advertising, and so I know how to write copy, and to punch up a subject to make it more entertaining or palatable. One of the things I have learned from my Dad (who used to edit here in Wikipedia as well) is that that sort of writing is absolutely useless in Wikipedia. I have arrived at the conclusion that it is worse than useless: it isn't neutral. It is trying to sell something, or advocate that something is awesome or horrible or delicious or vile.
Our opinions or the subjects we write about cannot reach the actual article. Ever. We cannot be cited, and so therefore, we cannot put them into the article in any form.
Take a look at the sticles for Milli Vanilli, Adolph Hitler and Flint water crisis. All three articles have lots (and lots) of well-deserved strong opinions about them, but you will note that the only negative statements in the article come from reliable sources. The editors aren't evaluating the subject of the article (though they probably have an opinion on the subject); they are adding appropriate, reliable sources that evaluate the subjects of the articles. That is the way it must be.
We as editors cannot advocate for the subjects of our article. Every adjective that you have been using to describe his chart performances, achievements or other stuff is advocacy, and it is inherently non-neutral. That is why I have been removing the characterizations of "achieving" this or that. Maybe you are using these characterizations as a creative writing outlet. That sort of writing isn't useful in Wikipedia. We are establishing a repository of human knowledge, not opinion. We leave that sort of nonsense to Conservapedia.
I hope I've expressed my opinion more clearly here. I chose to discuss the matter with you on your talk page instead of article talk, so as to quietly fix the problem. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 03:45, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jack Sebastian: You explained your point of view, I'm editing because is not finished I want to add more stuff, I added more awards during the Doo-Wops & Hooligans era because not everything was/is Grammys. But to "perform number one singles" it seems everything he released touches turns to gold, sounds more bias than anything, henceforth I changed and you changed to something that we can agree with. I can't help if he achieves records and stuff like that, I try to be as much as impartial as anything, you can look at other work that I have come up with and/or improved to GA status. Your claim is false as I have not put anything that is subject to a reliable source or sometimes two reliable sources. Besides this page received a C/E, not so long ago. Yes, I am using that as a way to widespread vocabulary, you can look at FA articles from other singers they have the exact same vocabulary. However, your help is quite appreciated if you can elevate the article to another level, I will not fight you there and, on the contrary, I will help you in any way I can.
Just a little question why did you add a paragraph on the awards I just added? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:33, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@MagicatthemovieS: hi there while I truly appreciate the effort you made in such articles, you are actually helping me a lot to improve my skills, I guess I could do that but in the meantime, I'm currently reviewing an article and I'm improving/expand another and I'm looking to review another one that has been waiting longer in the queue. So it might me take a while to get to the said article. But I'll get there or at least try to. Tell me about it, again, in a couple of days (a week or so) and I will try to get to it, if not try to review other good articles at least two, you increase your chances of getting your song review, of course, review articles which you have not worked on, so no Mirror, for example. The Doo-Wops & Hooligans Tour[edit]

Hello:

The copy edit you requested of the article The Doo-Wops & Hooligans Tour has been completed.

You'll notice I removed most of the material you included in the Sound and lights section. (I also changed the section title to Sound equipment since I believe the citation contained no information on lights, and there is none in the article). Much of the citation, and some of the article's original text, read like a testimonial about how great the equipment is. Frankly I think you could completely remove this section without hurting the article. The average reader doesn't have clue what the section is talking about and likely could care less. I checked a number of articles on Rolling Stones' tours; none includes a section on sound. I notice the Moonshine Jungle Tour article contains a lengthy similarly incomprehensible section. Just my suggestion.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best of luck with the GAN.

@Twofingered Typist: First of all, thank you for taking your time to revise the article. @MarioSoulTruthFan: You could certainly submit Moonshine Jungle Tour and see what another editor does with it. Bruno Mars videography[edit]

Sorry that you had to read my deleted comments on your talk page; the reason I deleted them was that I regretted having being that brash, and I decided a simple question sufficed as to the reason why you deleted my additions. But as many things, sometimes I can't take things completely back.

I did saw you thanked me for edits on the main Bruno Mars article and discography, and I really appreciate it. But, likewise, I got majorally irked when I saw you reverted the edits on the Bruno music video section, especially when some of the descriptions were seriously lacking, etc., and I blasted back and posted to your talk page what I suddenly thought, but right after posting I thought I went overboard and tried to rectify. Too late I guess.

Anyway, after you mentioned vandalism, I decided not to revert back to my music video edits up to that point and leave them at that. I hope we can continue reaching amicable consensuses when editing the Bruno Mars content. Bryan McLaude (talk) 01:45, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bryan McLaude: It's fine, I can see that it could quite very frustrating since you are giving your best to improve the articles and that's fine by me as long as you use a source backing it up. Those were good edits, I'm aware that they are lacking, I mean I created and wrote most of them, nevertheless, you can only use one source and you don't need a huge description as long as you focus the main points in the video. You should express your disappointment, just do it in a polite way.
I'm sure we will, as long as you provide a source you can edit the entire article or even other articles...just need a source backing it up, that's all. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 17:06, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MarioSoulTruthFan:I'm sorry, just had to rectify again, the first video descriptions weren't really "seriously lacking", I just thought they needed some very minor corrections and some missing article links for improvement, but really nothing major. If you helped create the Bruno videography article, I have to admit you did a good job. Bryan McLaude (talk) 03:01, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MarioSoulTruthFan: Many thanks on your appreciative remarks on my edits. I've been trying to follow your guidance. As a matter of fact, I wanted to consult with you something before adding it to the Bruno Mars videography page. Do you know about the song "Her World Goes On"? It's a dance song by artists Justin Michael and Kemal, that although don't credit Bruno Mars as a featured artist on the song, Mars is the one who sings the entire song! Apparently these guys Michael and Kemal are just the DJs or producers. Anyway, the song has a an official music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy_Xdh7GfuQ. If you like, please watch the vid, and tell me your thoughts about adding this to the Bruno videography page. In my opinion, I think it should be added. Bryan McLaude (talk) 02:33, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bryan McLaude: So this situation is quite a pickle. I know that one, "Watching Her Move" and "One at a Time", they all have uncredited vocals by Mars. They are DJs and producers. I have also added those songs to list of songs recorded by Mars but how do you find sources crediting something that is not credited? It's quite contradictory...the closest I have found is his songwriting credits. It should be added along with a footnote, which states "song with uncredited vocals by Bruno Mars". MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 19:56, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MarioSoulTruthFan: Yeah, I brought it up because the videography page does include the video for "Love" by Jaeson Ma, in which Bruno is not officially credited as a featured artist nor does he appear in the video, but his vocals are prominently heard throughout the entire song. So maybe we could do the same for "Her World Goes On" and Gold 1's "This Is My Love". This last one is a remix of Jaeson Ma's "Love" and also has a video. Although Bruno doesn't appear in this last one either, he is officially credited as a featured artist in the remix artwork and in the video as it appears on YouTube. I think you should add them. Or let me know if you're ok if I do it, etc. ;) Bryan McLaude
@Bryan McLaude: He is credited on Itunes for Jaeson Ma. Of course go ahead, add it like I said and give it a description with a reliable source. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:31, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MarioSoulTruthFan: Ok, I think I will add the videos in a while. And true, Bruno is credited as a featured artist at least on the album version of "Love" by Jaeson Ma on iTunes. Bryan McLaude (talk)

Bruno Mars discography[edit]

I just noticed that in this article, under the subsection 'Other charted songs', we have "This Is My Love" (2012) by Gold 1 featuring Bruno and Jaeson Ma listed there, despite it having a reference link to iTunes that shows it to be a single. Do you think the song should be moved to the 'Singles as a featured artist' subsection? Apparently it was not a major release, but it is still a single and the artwork credits Bruno as a featured artist as well as the music video on YouTube. What do you think, move it as to 'Singles as a featured artist' or keep it under 'Other charted songs'? Bryan McLaude (talk) 04:17, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bryan McLaude: I have been thinking about removing it from there. It could have been just a promo single, we don't know. All I know it wasn't released in most countries but Germany, Swiss and a couple of others. Sure it's a remix single, with some added vocals and beat...I could do the same. I mean anyone can get a song there. You don't need a well-known signed artist it can just be the demo of your band. Not sure of how much it was a single. Due to all of this that's why I moved it to "other charted songs". MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:46, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MarioSoulTruthFan: Fair enough. Bryan McLaude (talk) 03:04, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bryan McLaude: [1] Take a look at this. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:47, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MarioSoulTruthFan: Ooh. I actually didn't know there was a video to this song. Bryan McLaude (talk) 18:09, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

6 AM Remix[edit]

@MarioSoulTruthFan:OMG! Look at this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj7hDMuL_4U This is evidence that the 6AM Remix by Bueno ft. Bruno has been around since at least 2009. We might need to correct the Bruno discography and list of recorded songs, which list this song as being released in 2013! Apparently it was re-released as a new remix single in 2013 with some more aggressive instrumentation and then a music video finally in 2015... But wanted to know your opinion on this... Bryan McLaude (talk) 06:01, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MarioSoulTruthFan: I started researching and noticed the music video to "6 AM" was published to YouTube in 2015, yet uses the version of the song that came out in 2009, not the 2013 remix... So it could be possible the music video was released around the time of the 2009 version of the song, instead of 2015... I might have to research more... Bryan McLaude (talk) 06:09, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bryan McLaude: We could do something like I did on the list of songs recorded page and add a note saying that are two versions. Take a look here and see what I did. List of songs recorded by Bruno Mars. I also need to change this source since its been here since 2009. [3], no date though. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:35, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@MarioSoulTruthFan: This was great. The correction to the list of recorded songs regarding "6 AM" is now more accurate. Thank you. Bryan McLaude (talk) 03:21, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bruno Mars revert[edit]

I have no issues with your suggestions in your edit summary. Please feel free to make those changes and fix the issues you have with my edits. Your revert of my edits, including the copyediting (as well as the changes I made that you agree with) is not necessary and goes against the policy of reverting only when necessary. Wallyfromdilbert (talk) 02:20, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Wallyfromdilbert: As I have no suggestion with improving, but not with it causes more problems than help. I will give it a check. Still, I don't see how Babyface interview is necessary? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:28, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, I think your suggestions are good. I was trying to add some more context, but I think it's fine to remove the Babyface interview. Wallyfromdilbert (talk) 16:25, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Wallyfromdilbert: Please take a look now, I was also trying to think of a smaller title for said section. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:28, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The line about the Grammys was from the article, but I think your change is fine. A smaller title would probably be good too. Go for it. Wallyfromdilbert (talk) 16:31, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Wallyfromdilbert: Do you have any suggestion for it? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:54, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really have a good idea. Preferably, we could remove the entire "controversies" section as per WP:CSECTION and incorporate the information into the main body. Or at the very least the "cultural appropriation" part. Wallyfromdilbert (talk) 17:15, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Wallyfromdilbert: First of all it states, "if a politician received significant criticism about their public behavior, create a section entitled "Public behavior" and include all information – positive and negative – within that section." → the racial section has both people accusing and defend him, so a smaller title would be enough. So perhaps the name of the section changes it from "controversies" to something else...no idea what would suit it better. Regarding the incorporation on the main body, where exactly? I mean the Kanye West and Tyler The Creator part. Moreover, "sections or article titles should generally not include the word "controversies". Instead, titles should simply name the event, for example, "2009 boycott" or "Hunting incident". → So we should not only rename the cultural part as well as the name of the whole section. The problem is that they are controversies, different ones. How is one supposed to come up with a word that incorporates all of it? Unless we approached it like Kanye West article 1. We might be able to merge the Tyler and Kanye part, what do you think? How about the Personal life section as well? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:09, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

For an in depth discussion, I think we should probably continue it on the article's talk page for other editors to see. I started a section on the topic and gave a response there. You have some good info above, and you may want to copy and paste it over there as well. Wallyfromdilbert (talk) 19:29, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Wallyfromdilbert: I gave my opinion. If there isn't much of a response on it I believe you have a great idea and I would be more than willing to do such changes with your help. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:01, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds great. Wallyfromdilbert (talk) 20:46, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Twofingered Typist: Thank you for your time and patience. Just a little question why adding the views of YouTube, it didn't reach any special mark, such as 1 billion? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:46, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'll leave it for now. Let's see once it gets picked up for a GA review. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:12, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please Me[edit]

Just a few notes about your changes to the article:

  • I'm not saying what I wrote can't be improved on, but your rewording of my summary of the Pitchfork review was objectively not an improvement, so I have restored part of what I originally wrote, and cut out other awkward bits of your wording. The talk page is there if you disagree.
  • We do not need ref names if they're not going to be used elsewhere in the article, and please stop using "worldwide" in release history sections, as no music platform is available in every country, nor can a release take place in literally every country on Earth. There is no possible way to verify that. We use "various" for this reason.
  • Please observe WP:CITEVAR and don't change the established order of citations present on the article.
  • Finally, the Pitchfork review was not saying "Please Me" is "reminiscent" of those '90s songs—it was noting that Bruno and Cardi are attempting to make a song like them because they are "bump'n'grind anthems" but ultimately they don't succeed at it. It is wrong to insinuate a positive comparison was made where it was not. Thank you. Ss112 13:20, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ss112:To begin with the summary you wrote copying the article is not according to any guidelines on wikipedia. I tried to improve on it, reverting such edits is a waste of both of our times. Once the article gets older (the song doesn't chart anymore, year end lists and certifications and reviews are stable I will take another look at it).
True and fine by me. Guess I will have to check every other of my GA articles. I possibly gave those ref names because I used them elsewhere, but you decided to remove it.
I used the order I usually do, that's it. What's the big deal? The reference appears in the same manner, anyway.
I didn't make it seem like a positive review, as I added that to the composition section. If it is not reminiscent it is a comparison to those songs, doesn't mather if they succeeded or not I used to the composition section and not the review. I could re-worded it better. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:46, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To begin with the summary you wrote copying the article is not according to any guidelines on wikipedia. I'm not sure what this means.
If it is not reminiscent it is a comparison to those songs The author of the review does not say that Please Me sounds like those songs or has anything in common with them other than that those are "bump'n'grind anthems" and Please Me is an "attempt" at one. Mentioning them at all is pointless because they are only used in the review as an example of what a "bump'n'grind anthem" is. Nothing more. Ss112 16:52, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ss112: You just copied "really" long sentences and paste them on the article with some connectors.
That's it! "Please me" tries to emulate a bum-and-grid anthem such as... MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 16:58, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I quoted full sentences instead of breaking up quotes into small pieces. The latter is not better than the former; they're both fine, but personally I see the latter as more confusing, dipping in and out of quotes every two words looks awkward and is not a smooth read. I still don't feel that's a comparison. The writer is just saying "Bruno Mars is attempting to make his own bump'n'grind anthem, like Jodeci, Silk, etc.", as examples to illustrate some bump-and-grind anthems. That's like saying "The artist is making a bubblegum dance song like 'Barbie Girl' by Aqua or 'We Like to Party' by the Vengaboys"—they're just examples to illustrate the concept. There's no comparison to the sound other than that the two share a theme or genre. I don't think we're going to see eye-to-eye on this. I understand a Time article initially claimed the song sampled a Jodeci song but other than that, I think it needs to be brought to the article talk page. Ss112 17:03, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
They said it was wrong. They made a disclaimer at the end of the page. Nothing else to adress. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 17:36, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Page reversions[edit]

You recently reverted corrections I had made on two concert tour pages here and here. There seems to have been no purpose for that, and in so doing you restored links that lead to a disambiguation page (Verizon Center) instead of the correct (renamed) venue as well as links to a template that is deprecated (Template:Infobox concert tour) and is now a redirect to the template to which I had updated the link (Template:Infobox concert). I couldn't help noticing that just a few weeks ago another editor asked, after you reverted his changes in another article, that you pay attention to the policy of reverting only when necessary. A lighter touch with the 'revert' button may be something you'd consider? Thanks in advance. B.Rossow · talk 14:34, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Brossow: To begin with, the recent edits you made led to a red link, henceforth there was no need for that and that's why I reverted those edits, now you have amended that mistake it's fine. I will revert whatever I consider a disruptive edit like yours in the beginning. Secondly, as far as I'm concerned you don't have a clue regarding such discussion, we ended up by improving a section of the article together. I'm always up for it as long as you don't get red links on it or other stuff that doesn't contribute to the article or section. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 17:55, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's all good. Didn't realize my typo at the time. Considering there were other improvements included in my edit, perhaps simply fixing the red link I inadvertently created would have been a better option than just reverting everything without any explanation. Anyway, it's a moot point now. Have a great day! :) B.Rossow · talk 18:03, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Brossow: I had no idea of the deprecated parameters and, as far as I know, I don't have the obligation to know every venue or when they change their names. Nevertheless, I'm very thankful for your edits. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:26, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

GA review[edit]

Hello, I have nominated "Low Lights" for GA status recently and the reviewer I currently work with is too busy as of present. I have seen your history with GAs, would you care to review this article? --Kyle Peake (talk) 07:34, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kyle Peake: I can't at the moment, nonetheless you shouldn't be working with someone to pass your articles. That sounds fishy and bios at the minimum. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:57, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Fyi it's not like this user is working with me in the way that they instantly pass my articles. There's multiple comments made for improvements by them in reviews, they've just set about telling me which articles they think I should do and things. Plus I don't even know them irl. Kyle Peake (talk) 04:32, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kyle Peake: Still, not what it is supposed to be happening. C/e or no comments. Doesn't matter real life. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 17:48, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really understand, if you look it's just like every other GA review where the reviewer puts about how you need to fix some grammar --Kyle Peake (talk) 17:56, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's not the question or the matter. It is the same person over and over again reviwing the articles, I believe they are doing that correctly but if you are "working with someone", shouldn't be that way. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 18:00, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You can look on Zmbro's talk page if you want, he suggests what articles I should make into GA's. We're not working together as much anymore as he was kind of like my mentor to GAs as I'd never created or reviewed them before. --Kyle Peake (talk) 18:11, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kyle Peake: If he acted as a mentor then it's fine. But you guys can't be doing something like "If I review yours, you will review mine?"...that can get things messy every now and then as the counterpart might feel obliged to pass an article as his article was passed. Do you understand what I mean? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 00:00, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your recommendations at Talk:The Love Train/GA1[edit]

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that you shouldn't be recommending that there be "No italic on Idolator, BigFM, Today, BroadwayWorld, Radio.com" or the like at any GANs. I don't know if this is what you've done on your GAs but it's incorrect. Three of those (Idolator, BroadwayWorld, Radio.com) are online publications, which are italicised on Wikipedia just like print publications are (BigFM and Today could really go either way, but I would personally put them in the website= param as well). They should be in the website= parameter, italicised as that's what Wikipedia does with what is in this param, and because they are websites that put out regular content, which makes them publications. MaranoFan and I previously had a dispute about this, and we went to a noticeboard where editors more experienced than us told us exactly this (@SMcCandlish:, namely). So this recommendation should not have been made. Ss112 06:14, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is still being discussed in detail at Help talk:Citation Style 1, but you'll find most editors there use italics. SMcCandlish has previously said: "When any website is cited as a source, it is necessarily being treated as a publication, and in that context takes italics. Our citation templates do this automatically; do not abuse unrelated citation parameters, such as |publisher=, to evade italicization of online work titles in source citations." Ss112 08:47, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ss112: Thanks for the tip. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 15:40, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Music[edit]

For further discussion as it has been enjoyable working with you, I'd like to discuss this. I know you're a big Bruno Mars fan, I am a fan too but not as extreme as you, this is a compliment not an insult by the way. As for Kanye West, I think you may already be able to tell I view him in the same light you view Mars. What are your thoughts on West, do you like his music? I'm guessing that "Stronger" and "Famous" are ones you will likely state yourself as a fan of since they have a more mainstream sound. --Kyle Peake (talk) 21:50, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kyle Peake: Hi, thanks. Yes, I can agree I have seen a lot of your work and it is similar to mine with Mars. Yes indeed I do like Stronger and Famous, as well as Flashing Lights, Heartless, Amazing, All of the Lights, and many more tbh. One of my favorite albums of all time is "Graduation". However, I didn't enjoy much Yeezus or most of The Life of Pablo. Nevertheless, Kanye West when it comes to using samples he is the best in the game, he knows exactly how to do it to get the best out of them. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:22, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ayyy that's nice! Though I do love Graduation, MBDTF would be placed at number one on the rankings of West's work by me. What do you think of the album? --Kyle Peake (talk) 22:12, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kyle Peake: Yes, I guess your opinion match most critics, MBDTF is definitely one of the best and the best to many people, with songs as Power, All of The Lights, Monster, Runaway you can't do wrong with those. Then it comes The College Dropout, Late Registration...808s & Heartbreak is probably the least favorite by most people. TBH it was ahead of its time, if it was released by 2010-2012 it would have had more success then it did. A very underrated piece of work. Regarding those Kanye West articles I actually I have some doubts. Have you read Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Songs? I'm asking since some of the pages created, I'm not sure if they were by you or any other user doesn't seem to fit in that category. Not trying to cause a conflict, just trying to make some stuff more clear. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:53, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Uptown Funk (2)[edit]

Seeing as to how you haven't explained to me why you refuse to remove "digital" from "digital download", I'd like to use this space for you to tell me. I've already given you my case, I'd like to hear yours. Aria1561 (talk) 17:15, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To begin with, when I said talk page I meant the one on albums/single project, it gets more traction than here. If needed it can be moved there. It's the first time this comes up, I never saw any nominator/reviewer I worked so far with finding this an issue. However, I can see where you are coming from as all downloads are digital, it seems redudent, but I belive the idea behind it's to be more encycloped, more colloquial if you prefere. If you take a closer look at the FA articles regarding songs they all have digital download and nobody is opposing so if you want the change the best option is to ask questions on the talk page of one of those projects as a bot will be need if such changes are implemented if everyone is on board, just don't make these changes in every page you see, everthing will just be reverted. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:21, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've made this kind of edit several times in the past and not once has it ever been reverted. As for FAs that use "digital download", I'm confident that altering its usage of that won't be controversial. I also don't believe that using "digital download" would be "more colloquial"; it's impractical, if anything. It also takes up unnecessary space in infoboxes. You might be trying to fit a couple different formats in it (i.e. 7-inch, 12-inch, CD, all at once) and having that extra "digital" there would cause the infobox to grow longer, having an additional line of space taken up by something redundant. Seems like a moot point to make.
Additionally, I wasn't trying to start a large-scale conversation with this message, I only wanted to get your take on the situation, as you never mentioned it prior in your edit summaries. I do agree, however, that it would be more practical to bring up the issue on a talk page and, if enough support is gathered, have a bot edit every article that uses the term "digital download". Aria1561 (talk) 23:12, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Those many times, I haven't seen before. Sure better to get to an agreement regarding making that the general rule. I don't think so either, well that much unnecessary space? Even so, the space shouldn't be the main reason. You make a valid pont when you say it's unecessary, I'm here just trying to keep he general rule rolling. If you desire to go throught with that, I might even support such change. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:59, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Bruno Mars songs[edit]

You reverted my edit of adding "songs" back into the title field to match the name of the template because the template consists of more than just songs, which it does, but that is a weird argument for you to make since you were the one who added these links in February. The number of songs in the template is a middle ground that it could be argued that there are enough to justify having its own template and therefore the non-song links should be removed since they are already covered in Template:Bruno Mars or it could be argued that there are not enough to justify having its own template and therefore should be merged back to Template:Bruno Mars that would like what the songs template currently looks like. Since you seem to edit both templates and a number of Bruno Mars' articles, I would like your opinion on which is the best option for these templates. Thank you, Aspects (talk) 03:05, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Aspects: I can see your point, but his discography it's not big enough for the "template only having songs" (yet). If he was already on his fifth album and had 20 fetured songs or somethig like that sure I would create that template, or add other ventures. Speaking of which I should add the films/TV Special to the template. I don't believe it's justified yet, but if you insist that much you dot it. Leave the first one as you see it on the main page and create one just dedicated to the songs/singles using the one in the songs page, it's half of the work done. Something like MJ or Taylor Swift have on their articles. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 10:52, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have sadly and mistakenly reverted my edit saying that the Mall of Asia Arena is in Pasay. It is indeed in Pasay, as the Mall of Asia Arena article will tell you. Events there are under the jurisdiction of the Pasay city government, and not Manila's. These two places are two completely different -- and separate -- cities. Please be guided on the differences. Thanks! Howard the Duck (talk) 22:23, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I also see that your edit summary deceivingly stated "By source" when there's absolutely no source at all! If there's a reversion to the falsehood that the said arena is at Manila, I'm prepared to exhaust all dispute resolution methods on this one. Howard the Duck (talk) 22:28, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Howard the Duck:There is a source in both articles, nevertheless you are correct regarding the moonshine jungle tour. See on the number of the leg, click on it and you will get there, however the 24K Magic Tour disagrees with you on that, so I'm going to revert it. Do whatever you want, take me to court if you want. If you can find a source disputing what's stated by Billboard just add it to the 24k magic tour on the leg, until then don't. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 23:52, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"Pasay, Manila" does. Not. Make. Any. Sense. At. All. The arena was in Pasay, the concert was in Pasay, and if something went wrong, Pasay cops would've handled it, not the Manila ones. This applies to all concert tour articles, not just one. Howard the Duck (talk) 01:57, 29 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request for GA New Reviewer Mentorship[edit]

Hi there MarioSoulTruthFan! I'm Shrinkydinks, and I'm doing my very first GA review. It's for country music artist Eddy Raven. Could I ask for a moment of your time? Would you mind giving it a once over?

A couple specific questions:

  • I left a lot of comments on prose clarity for the article. Is this an inappropriate level of detail, or number of comments/suggestions?
  • I believe the article feels sometimes like a swath of names of albums, songs, producers, and chart positions. I mentioned it in my review and proposed a couple ways the nominator could improve this. I suppose my question is: Is this typical or atypical of this kind of article?
  • Nearly all newspaper articles are hosted on newspapers.com, which has some type of paywall up. Is this OK? Is there a policy on this?

Would love your insight! —Shrinkydinks (talk) 01:14, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Shrinkydinks: I tried to answer to the questions to the best of my ability.

1) You can make as many suggestions and comments as you want, as long you belive it improves the article to reach GA status, whether is prose, grammar, guidelines, style...and so on.

2) So that varies from case to case if you look at oher FA's articles you can see that is common with their most successful songs. In this case, not sure if the "Songs written by Eddy Raven" on the discography section are that relevat or could be add to the prose of the article if they achived success or helped him become a household name or something in that vein. Speaking of it, since he has a discography page, the subsection "Number-one hits (U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs)" doesn't have to be there as long is in the prose of the article. Producers I'm not familiar with the artist, but if they are always the same you can mention them, if there is a huge shift on those with sound change you can also mention, but it is optional. Albums and succefull singles I would add to the prose of the article. On the other hand, on the discography section, try to only have the albums if there is a dicography page for the artist, if there is no other place to add their most succesful singles. I guess the answer is really try not to clogge it with unecessary information, but general rule you mention the artist work, it can be divided by albums, era's, whatever fits the artist the most.

3) It is fine, as long as that is mentioned on the source with the subscription required tag. If you or the nominator can find the aticle withouth the paywall for instace on webarchive.org, archive.is or webcitation (not sure if there are others), use that as well. You can learn more here WP:Verifiabile and TP:Subscription.

You are welcome, if you need futher help just ask. You can always ask another editor help, with the second opionion tag, for input on the article. Good luck with the reviews. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:23, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

24K Magic World Tour[edit]

Hello:

The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article 24K Magic World Tour has been completed.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I would suggest that the Concert synopsis section needs some additional work. There are sentences relating what Mars said during a show, discussions of people dancing, Mars getting the crowd to dance, waving flashlights etc... Since this would not have been the same at every show, I think they should be removed. This section should simply include the songs that were performed and any unusual stage activity, information on lighting and so on.

Best of luck with the GAN when you get to it.

Wake Up in the Sky[edit]

re: Hungary charts[edit]

So I discussed the Hungarian charts here before, but I will gladly try to explain how they work for you as well.

Lets start with the "Rádiós Top 40" chart. The way it is worded on the notes section might be confusing, as it says its the main chart. What it is probably trying to tell is, that there are actually 3 different official airplay charts for Mahasz, and the main one amoing them is "Rádiós Top 40" as it is based on audience impressions (on how many people actually heard the songs based on the radio's airplay reach in the country). We also have "Editors' Choice" airplay chart which is similar to Pop Songs in the US Billboard because it measures the amount of spins a song has, but dont take into consideration anything else, every radio has the same impact on this chart. Lastly we have "Magyar Rádiós Top 40" which only contains Hungarian songs and uses spins just like "Editors' Choice". "Editors' Choice" and "Magyar Rádiós top 40" airplay charts are deemed not relevant on the English wikipedia and we use "Rádiós Top 40" as the main airplay chart for Hungary as similarly Billboard gives more relevancy for audience impressions rather than spins. I guess the chart ID was chosen for "Rádiós Top 40" as Hungary, because it was the first one used on the English Wikipedia and possibly the person who implemented it didn't do much research and didn't know other charts existed in the country.

We also have in Hungary the chart called "Single Top 40" which is a chart that's completely based on sales only, both physical and digital sales. The "Stream Top 40" as it indicates measures the amount of streams the songs get in the country on like Spotify, Deezer, Google Play etc. Here in Hungary we don't have a main chart that incorporates sales, streams and airplay like in the US Billboard Hot 100 for example. Instead we have seperate charts for airplay, streams and sales. That is why we use all 3 charts to represent a songs chart performance in Hungary, as there's no way to tell which aspect is more important. Some people think streams are the most important, some people think sales, some think radio airplay. The only way to be fair is to use all 3 of them.

Lastly we have "Dance Top 40" chart which is the official Hungarian dance chart, but it's not a component chart of any of the other charts mentioned above, it is a completely seperate chart. It is based on Hungary's top 500 biggest DJ's weekly playlist. So it has nothing to do about sales, streams or airplay. I had a dicussion about this chart on this Wikipedia before, and the community decided that this chart should be shown on a songs page if it is a dance song or a dance artist's song as then it would be important to see how a song manages to do on this chart. For example the song "bad guy" by Billie Eilish recently went number one this chart but I didn't put it on the weekly charts section because she is not a dance artist and this is not really a dance song it wouldn't be really that relevant to showcase this chart performance. But for example "Never Be Alone" by David Guetta charted on "Dance Top 40" as well and I deemed it relevant as it's a dance song and also from a dance artist so I put it on the Chart section of this songs' article.

I hope I could explain the Hungarian charts for you, but feel free to ask further questions and sorry if I wasn't 100% perfect grammatically as English is not my first language. Best regards Kirtap92 (talk) 13:16, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kirtap92: First of all thank you for explaining it to me I understood everything. Secondly, your english is great. Last but not least, I'm 100% aware that bad guy is not a dance song, but shouldn't the chart be added anyway? I mean Adele's Hello charted on Dance Club Songs and other dance chart due to the remixes that DJ's and producers do, so that the song can be played on clubs, nobody is going move to a ballad, but if you know the ballad and give it a different "spin", make it uptempo, people will move to it. I'm not 100% sure how it works in Hungary, but this is a common pratice in clubs in various countries. By the way how do you know all of this? Is there a site I can read this? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 13:38, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Yeah they remix the songs to make it uptempo here just like everywhere else, that's how "bad guy" went number one on this chart. I just thought that as there's already 3 different Hungarian charts added because there's no major one as explained above, it would be too much to show a 4th one and I just don't want to make the list too long as well. I know all this, because on zene.slagerlistak.hu there's a short description of the charts at the bottom of every chart's page. For example about "Rádiós Top 40" you can read on https://zene.slagerlistak.hu/radios-top-40-jatszasi-lista website. Unfortunately it's in Hungarian and Google Translate is not the best to translate from Hungarian to English. There's another section on the website https://zene.slagerlistak.hu/slagerlista-szabalyzatok where they add some further rules about how they make the charts every week. Kirtap92 (talk) 14:09, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Kirtap92: I can see where you are coming from. Thanks for pointing that out, I have taken a look at everyeach one of them and it seems accurate, the information, but the fact they don't have a chart that merges all of this in lefts me scratching my head. As long as it gives me a rough idea I can work with, it is still good enough. Thanks you once more for making it clear. I meant to ask you, if a song doesn't chart on Rádiós Top 40, would you add the "Editors' Choice" airplay despite not being as relevant? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 00:27, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes of course I can, but I'm not sure whether other people caring about charts here would agree. I don't want any messages on my talk page asking why I'm flooding song articles with Hungarian chart entries :) I can't even tell you how many times it happened to me, that I included all 3 or 4 charts from Hungary to a song's article, then when later checking back I see they deleted 2 or 3 and leaving the one they thought is the most important. :/ They are weird, I mean the way they name some of these charts is just not the best implication of what it represents. I mean "Editors' Choice" by name could mean something like a critics's list when it's not. It's like they were trying to give some "fancy" English names to some of these charts to make them look interesting or cool. Same thing goes for "Single (track) Top 40". Nowhere in the chart's name says that it's a chart for single sales. Also we have a Hungarian word for "single" and they still went with an English name. Honestly I don't know why they didn't make a main chart yet, but if you want, I can send them a message asking about it, they usually answer me. Kirtap92 (talk) 19:26, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Kirtap92:, yes I have done it before and I'm really sorry about removing, but I thought and most of users think it works like the Billboard. Nevertheless, I reposted most of those. Yes it does sound like that, a list of a critic that did by their favorites on the charts. Ahah, who knows it might have been the case t some point. Well, it would be cool if you ask them. 100% up to you and once more thank you for explaining. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 23:52, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Song/Year question[edit]

Hello-hello. You have far more experience on writing articles about songs than I do so a quick question. Do I write a year from the earliest release of the song? Or when it was released as a single? For example, It's Tricky was released as a single the year after it was released on their album. Also, after listing the song once, do I re-add the year every time? Or is it a once-and-done type deal? Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:44, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Andrzejbanas: If it was released as a single is that year. For example song X was released on the album in 2020, but only as a single in 2021 (the latter date is the one to use). Honeslty, it can go both ways, but try once-and-done type deal and we will see.

everything I wanted[edit]

@DarklyShadows: Like I said familiarize yourself with the criteria, take a look at other FA articles regarding music such as songs and albums. Recent GA Noms and Reviews[edit]

Hi MarioSoulTruthFan, Just wanted to say great jobs with all of the reviews and recently passed articles. I just wanted to politely draw your attention to some standards that have changed and I noticed you did not pick up on recently on your review of Yikes (song). See below:

  • MOS:SMALLTEXT clearly states that small text should be used sparingly and most definitely not in an infobox where text is already smaller than the main body of an article.
  • Template:Infobox song has been updated so that {{hlist}} is now built into the fields so you do not need to use the template anymore
  • Template:Infobox song#Producer clearly says that the field is reserved for full producers, not executive, co. or additional producers. A consensus was established on this here.

Can you please make sure these are taken into account when you are reviewing articles or preparing them for nomination yourself? Lil-℧niquԐ1 - (Talk) - 18:01, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Lil-unique1:

Fine.
Well, there were five producers (co's and everything in between) and it clearly says "but for longer lists the use of the class=hlist is preferred as it offers a benefit to users of screen readers", shorther are three or less.
Regarding the last template, I was not aware of such change, but shouldn't you also remove "Pi'erre Bourne" as he was an additional producer?
I wasn't aware he was a co-producer, he wasn't credited as such in the infobox - I only had a quick mosey! Lil-℧niquԐ1 - (Talk) - 08:56, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kind regards, MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 01:47, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I wasn't trying to nitpick, so I hope you don't see it as that. To be fair the consensus on producers is very very recent! Lil-℧niquԐ1 - (Talk) - 08:58, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mario, I am not going to respond to your question at the talk page because apparently I am "bludgeoning" the process there. In response to it, there were 6 singles on Lipa's debut album released before "New Rules" so it is impossible for "New Rules" to be the 6th single as the Warner boss claims.

Either he made a mistake due to the majority of those singles being released through the Dua Lipa Limited label and not his label Warner. Or he is backtracking to pretend that New Love never existed because it failed to chart as labels and artists love to do these days. The album's single order cannot just change because he calls "New Rules" the 6th single all of a sudden. I hope my explanation makes sense. That back and forth on that page has really exhausted me. Cool Marc 19:18, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Coolmarc: You can't just claim he did a mistake, you are anware of that just like me or any other user. In that case, other songs were released under Dua Lipa Limited label and he acknowledge them as single. "Or he is backtracking to pretend that New Love never existed because it failed to chart as labels and artists love to do these days." → So what you are saying is the label doesn't acknowledge it as a single or they removed it because it failed to make any impact on the charts...so its not a single. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 20:05, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
New Love was pushed as a single. There's no ifs or buts around it. It's a fact. There are dozens of sources claiming it is a single and it received a lot music media coverage on release, a music video, remixes. The label boss doesn't mention New Love or any of the other singles in his statement in that OCC articles, he only (incorrectly) says that New Rules is the 6th single. Just because he says New Rules is the 6th single doesn't mean 2 years later New Love is all of a sudden not a single! Cool Marc 23:37, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
See also Lipa's official website where all the single and album releases are shared in order from release date. Cool Marc 00:22, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Coolmarc: I'm not sayig it is not a single. I'm just sayig it was not the lead single from the album (the intention was very likely to make it, but as it didn't enter any mark it, they backtrack). In that I agree with you there is no information about what song was not consider a single. Nevertheless, when you reach a conseus the page of her sel-titled album should have a metion about all this singl/non-single stuff. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 11:21, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

P*$$Y Fairy (OTW) edits[edit]

I disagree with your edit summary for the above article that "this table is not well constructed". I do appreciate that you have taken out the unnecessary Billboard charts as I was honestly uncertain of which ones were necessary or not. With that being said, the single chart template is not compatible with the Harvard citation template. The Wikipedia:Record charts says the following: (It is recommended that you use the single chart template where possible.) Adding the italics for my own emphasis. It does not seem like a "possible" option in this context to me. Just wanted to voice my opinion on it. Aoba47 (talk) 21:15, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Aoba47:You welcome. So why is not possible there? Due to the Harvard citation template? That's not what it means, it is saying that some charts don't have template, henceforth you can't use them. BB Hot 100, R&B Hip-Hop Songs and UK all have templates, but for instace Brazil, South Korea, and Vezuela, among others, don't have a template. The charts references formats have always been an exception to everything else. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 21:22, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The single chart template creates a different type of citation in the reference section that does not match with the rest of the Harv-style citations in that section. Aoba47 (talk) 22:36, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that, but what is the problem with that? Its a different style, so what? MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 22:39, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It does not make sense for an article to have two different citation styles. Only one style should be used for an article. Aoba47 (talk) 22:40, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Aoba47: You can use the same style of the record chart. To be honest, I have no idea why you are using the Harvard one. However, it is up to you. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 08:53, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I did use the style with the chart, but then you said very directly in the edit summary that it was not well constructed. The Harvard citation style is a viable method that has been used in other articles. Aoba47 (talk) 16:09, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

24K Magic World Tour GA[edit]

Hi MarioSoulTruthFan. Your article 24K Magic World Tour was recently promoted to GA under... peculiar circumstances. I notified the reviewer and consulted with The Rambling Man, the third editor to have received a GA review from the same reviewer. The Rambling Man (on recommendation) chose to reset his nomination and change the active "page" to 2, so that a new review could be made while retaining the same position in the queue. Would you consider doing the same for your affected GA? If so, I would probably follow suit as well. IceWelder [] 12:36, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good article nominations[edit]

Are you a regular follower of good article nominations for music? I'm not but based on this comment in the AfD for Break My Heart Again, I was wondering what are the qualifications for someone to review "GA" candidates as there are about 3 or 4 reviewers who don't appear to fully understand the good article criteria, and they seem to nominate and review each other's articles. I'm not suggesting there's any quid pro quo going on as the attempt to improve the articles is there, but they are pretty lenient on what passes. Thanks. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:57, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bruno Mars'[s] possessives[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you reverted my revisions of "Mars'" to "Mars's" in both the Bruno Mars videography (diff) and Bruno Mars (diff) articles, stating that an extra "s" isn't needed after the possessive apostrophe if the name already ends in an "s". I agree that this is widely acceptable and probably even predominant in external sources. However, as I mentioned in my edit summaries, the Manual of Style states that: For the possessive of singular nouns, including proper names and words ending with an s, add 's (emphasis original; see MOS:POSS). Thus, "Mars's", with an extra "s", is in fact the proper and prescribed form on Wikipedia, while "Mars'" is not. I hope that this clears up any disagreement and that the we can re-amend the articles to use the correct version. Thanks! — RAVENPVFF · talk · 03:37, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Ravenpuff: In the same MOS it says "If a name already ends in s or z and would be difficult to pronounce if 's were added to the end, consider rearranging the phrase to avoid the difficulty: Jesus's teachings or the teachings of Jesus." Mars's...that quite harsh to pronounce. If you are willing to the latter change's there are plenty of articles to be re-arranged. On top of that, I'm willing to "convince the broader community that such action is right". I would like to point out the "For thorough treatment of the English possessive, see Apostrophe", which goes into more detail "If a singular noun ends with an s-sound (spelled with -s, -se, for example), practice varies as to whether to add 's or the apostrophe alone. A widely accepted practice is to follow whichever spoken form is judged better: the boss's shoes, Mrs Jones' hat (or Mrs Jones's hat, if that spoken form is preferred). In many cases, both spoken and written forms differ between writers", so even there are exceptions that must be considered. Also, the same had to be done for Harry Styles articles, among others. Moreover, you even state "I agree that this is widely acceptable and probably even predominant in external sources". This is consistent across all Mars' articles. All in all, I can see where you are coming from, however I have to disagree as both styles are widely accepted and there is no need to change 50 or more articles due to that. The Apostrophe article does provide information on how apostrophes are used through English, including the fact that there are different practices regarding possessives (as it rightly should), but that doesn't reflect the guidelines that we strive to follow here on Wikipedia, which are codified by consensus in the Manual of Style. Exceptions to the MOS can and are made from time to time, but in general, its overarching purpose is to make sure that the majority of Wikipedia articles adopt a similar encyclopedic style. These guidelines have long included the proposition that "'s" be used for all singular possessives, regardless of spelling, to maintain general consistency across different articles. Sure, "Mars's" may be a little hard to read out, but that's the form universally used in our article on the planet Mars (outside of titles in references, which shouldn't be changed). Also, I don't think that workload is necessarily an issue – the use of AWB or bots could fix this rather easily, and I didn't find my original edits to the two articles above to be too tedious to execute. At the end of the day, however, I wouldn't be opposed to making an exception for articles related to Bruno Mars that they use "Mars'" instead of "Mars's", but this shouldn't be enforced unilaterally; there should at least be a discussion (if there hasn't been one already) on the Bruno Mars talk page in order to establish consensus for this deviation first. Thanks. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 17:52, 31 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't be against said discussion. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 12:31, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good topic and article[edit]

Thanks for your very recent support of the Ye good topic after I had fixed any issues fully, also I see that you thanked my edit on the GA review of "Levels"; I followed through with the review because it thought it would be better to give a fail in detail rather than to revert the nomination for explaining to the user what should be done next time. --K. @Kyle Peake: You did well, I tried to explain but some people just don't listen. BTW do you think you can comment on my good topic for 24K Magic? I would very much appreciate. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 14:46, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah that is not the first time that I have quick failed an article, though the user's edit history shows that they are relatively new in their defense, so they are still probably learning on this site. I would love to comment on that topic, thanks for the reminder as I was planning to already but forgot briefly! --K. Peake 14:49, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
