Hi there Matty, how's it going?

Serious serious stuff in this person's article: four times, if i have counted it well, people from Malaysia, Uruguay and India (there goes the "one perpetrator" theory!) have removed, without one word in summary, the PERSONAL section of contents.

Yes it is highly contentious stuff what is written there, that is why it is duly referenced (mind you, I'm not going all WP:OWN and defending my work solely, if was not even i who inserted the bit in the first place, i merely expanded it and ref'd it), and these vandals have no consideration whatsoever for other people's work, they seem to say "Sod off, i don't want these kind of things to be written about my favourite player (or player in favourite team), i removed them, period!"

What is your view on this, please? I think it is encyclopedical and worth keeping if: 1 - it is sourced (it is); 2 - it is written neutrally (i think i tried my best to accomplish that), but you'll be the ultimate judge of course. Page protection or something mate, i'm losing it and that's an understatement (here i don't think it's a case of persecution, just vandalism). If you, on the other hand, think we could do without it, well remove away my man, but i don't think the other persons' actions are being very fair to say the least.

Attentively, keep it up --AL (talk) 02:15, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to William Kvist may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
 • William Kvist Jørgensen (born 24 February 1985) is a Danis] footballer who plays as a midfielder for Fulham in

Karl Robinson

Hi, I'm Dogid. I appreciate you noticed that my changes to Karl Robinson were not cited. However, for the same sort of managerial history table, they are not cited on pages such as Alex Ferguson and José Mourinho. If they are not cited on more well known pages like those, why should those pages be getting away without citation of the same thing? Hope to hear from you. Cheers. Re: Karl Robinson

Hi, if it would be possible, I would like these managerial tables to be able to be put in place on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players (cited appropriately of course) as I find them useful and would be happy to do them for a lot of managers. If an agreement on this topic can be reached either way at WT:FOOTY it would be very much appreciated. Cheers, Dogid (talk) 21:12, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

Levi Mackin

I just checked each match report on the Conwy Borough website, looks like they haven't kept up to date on their stats.

Does not care to add the PC updates (see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Daniel_D%C3%ADaz&diff=595815317&oldid=594749883), i've talked with him in Spanish, so there's no excuse really, just another "talk to the hand" case i'm afraid.

Cheers, happy week --AL (talk) 19:05, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

On a related note, another IP extensively used by User:Bruno corinthiano (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.69). Don't know why i keep reporting these as you blocked the first two addresses i showed you, but the following six or seven before this one, even though they showed the same level of disruption, were not punished in any way.

I do my duty of course (report the sick vandal), do not have any right to show you how to do yours. Attentively --AL (talk) 00:08, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi there again fellow WP user,

now you got me all mixed up mate, you have already replied to me about Braulio's article, and told me (as now) you had watchlisted it. Ah, and no need for any apology, you most certainly have other things to do outside WP, unlike me who seem to have no life outside this space unfortunately.

Cheers back --AL (talk) 01:19, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the block! --AL (talk) 01:19, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Two more from the utter (i'll save insult for myself), this one (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.170) and this one (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.230). Matty, if you want me to stop bothering you about this because: 1 - it's too much work for you and you want me to bother someone else; 2 - you feel as me it's a lost battle, please do say so, i'll stop immediately. Thank you as always --AL (talk) 15:13, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

"Ngizofa nayo" (Zulu for, "I will die with it"

Matthew, I give up with the sock puppets. I'm telling the truth, the truth and nothing else but the truth. At first I told myself it would take a while before you guys eventually catch me but I knew some day I would. I am too devoted to expanding South Africa soccer just to give up. Since August I have contributed 150+ articles but I lost count with all the sock puppets. Take this as the last straw. Monitor my every move for 2 weeks and if I add unsourced material (I use to do it unintentionally and I can recall you warning and blocking me about unsourced material for updating statistics and international goals) If I break any of the rules. You will ban me and I will never return even though that thought makes me wanna cry. I'm saying all of this because an article of yours being deleted is very heartbreaking and frustrating. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ngizofa nayo (talkcontribs) 18:33, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Chris Maxwell (footballer)

Oh - I was simply bringing into line with Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players. Perhaps we need to change that. I have never seen such a title on any table. GiantSnowman 12:53, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Not vandalism now man, finally :)

I think this'll only take you a few minutes, if not don't bother or ask someone else if you please... In the FORMER MANAGERS section of this club, the following happened: someone added it, with the title FAMOUS MANAGERS (thus implying all managers at the club had been famous!), i removed it. Later, thinking i had no business removing it, reinstated it but with the more accurate header.

Problem is, the display is horrible now (column leaning to the right of the screen). Can it be fixed? I think it can, just don't know how. Cheerio, and thanks in advance (to you or the user who fixes it) --AL (talk) 16:06, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Technical doubt

Matty, i'm having a bit of a trouble with the following:

I know it's common practice in English sporting language to say (for example) "a 3-1 loss". But isn't it just as correct to say "1-3 loss", with "home" and "away" indicating where the given match was played? Kind of hard to grasp, me not being a native and all :(

Thanks in advance, happy weekend --AL (talk) 04:20, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

 • In Portugal it's 50%-50%, let's put it this way. But please focus on this question mate: if i write in an English article "X team lost 1-3 at home", can you sincerely tell me English readers will not understand what on earth i am referring to? Cheers back --AL (talk) 03:52, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

March 2014 GAN Backlog Drive

It's that time again! Starting on March 1, there will be another GAN Backlog Drive! There will be several changes compared to previous drives:

 • This drive will introduce a new component to it; a point system. In a nutshell, older nominations are worth more points than newer nominations. The top 3 participants who have the points will be awarded the Golden, Silver, or Bronze Wikipedia Puzzle Piece Trophy, respectively.
 • Unlike the December 2013 Backlog Drive, earning an additional barnstar if you reached your goal has been removed.
 • The allowance to have insufficient reviews has been lowered to 2 before being disqualified.
 • An exception to the rule that all reviews must be completed before the deadline has been created.

Also, something that I thought I would share with all of you is that we raised $20.88 (USD) for the WMF in the December 2013 drive. It may not sound like a lot but considering that that was raised just because we reviewed articles, I would say that's pretty good! With that success, pledges can be made for the upcoming drive if you wish.

More info regarding the drive and full descriptions regarding the changes to this drive can be found on the the drive page. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message on the drive talk page.

I look forward to your participation and hope that because of it, some day the backlog will be gone!

New address of the vandal (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.250), he continues with the same M.O. In an unrelated matter, why can't you clear my language doubt (if to say "1-3 home loss" is completely wrong or at least acceptable)?

Happy week --AL (talk) 19:01, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

 • Thanks a lot mate! Nope, really no point in a WP:FOOTY discussion, as 99,9999999999999% of the users (being native English speakers and this being EN.WIKI and all) will say they write "3-1 loss". I just wanted to know i was not being a "grammar serial killer" or similar :)

Another (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.232)!! I know we will lose, because he seems to have millions of IPs and that's not an understatement, but we'll lose with grace! Cheers --AL (talk) 19:56, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Another (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.12)!! This guy is an absolute waste of oxygen (you or another admin can block me, i won't protest), he's doing this on purpose! In articles like Juan Bernat, Carles Gil, etc, you can see him going at it several times in spite of being reverted. --AL (talk) 01:15, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

One more (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.168). Man, maybe we should question ourselves if this is worth it. Leicester City F.C Wiki Page

Hello there Matt, thanks for the message about Leicester City's Wiki Page. I do apologize for deleting some info about Leicester City FC on Wikipedia. However, there is still slight edits i would like to input on. Would this be okay with you?

Frank Lampard Wiki Page

Hello, I respect your decision to delete my edit. You are more experienced so could you add my edit back in but do it with the appropriate sources to verify the information. I would like this info to be shown on Frank Lampard's Wikipedia page but I need help. I got his Chelsea assist statistics from http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/8941/frank-lampard?cc=5739 Please could you help me with the changes I tried to make and add the full extent of information and abbreviations for Wikipedia. If you cannot do this yourself or do not want to, could you send out a request to someone who can make these changes. Doubt / Updates

Matty, how's it going?

Without further ado: 1 - is this guy (child better said) notable? Last time i checked, being a youth international as best achievement does not confer notability am i correct?

2 - have you got any updates for me (in case you have done it, of course) on the range-block request for User:Bruno corinthiano?

Range block

Range blocks can cause a lot of collateral damage, so they're only used in extreme circumstances. Whatever IPs you see, tag with Umberto Bottura so we can populate Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Umberto Bottura, and get a better idea of how many IP addresses will be affected. Diannaa (talk · contribs) was extremely helpful with range blocks when dealing with Zombie433, they might be able to provide better advice. GiantSnowman 19:26, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Negredo - Reply

Hi there,

regarding my changes, which i see are not well accepted, i elaborate: the header should be changed (not just Negredo's of course, ALL) to just STATISTICS (with the CLUB and INTERNATIONAL sub-sections), of course those statistics refer to his career, what else? Why needlessly enlarge the header? I think this should be proposed/discussed.

Secondly, i only saw the "as of match played" bit inserted in ONE article of the MILLIONS i have seen here, in Gerard Deulofeu, and i thought it was the user going against the grain as we discussed here (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Spc_21&diff=586719538&oldid=585287083). Why different now? Unless you mean it's not OK to write "as of match played" in the infobox, but it is so to write it in the charts we find below in articles. If so, why the different "treatment"? I'm puzzled...

Kind regards --AL (talk) 22:23, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Persecution once again?

Rafael Ferreira Silva, anon "user" inflates stats (player does not even have 20/9 ALL competitions comprised!), i revert him, he adds wrong numbers back.

Soccerdatabase.eu is a copyvio website

So I have removed it from the Byron Webster article. GiantSnowman 18:52, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

It's a rip-off of the old 'playerhistory' site, you might be able to find a copy of that page at the Wayback Machine. GiantSnowman 19:32, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Old "friend"?

This guy, which you reverted in Carles Puyol, hails from Norway (see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/139.98.2.55), so it's quite (very quite!) probable he's the anon "user" (with a vast array of IPs to top it) who does the following: removes B-clubs (or C's, in Puyol's case) and youth national teams, just because.

Can't remember in what IP and due to what action, because it's been a long time (nearly two years at least), but he was inclusively warned in Norwegian by a fellow user just so we could be safe, well you can see the result of that advice...

Cheers again --AL (talk) 19:49, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

I'll be damned if...

...this guy is not User:Antony1821: updates the stats in box without the actual change of date, operates solely on Greek football and, OF COURSE, does not add one word in summary to save his life (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/46.103.5.188)!

Cheerio --AL (talk) 22:27, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Here i won't be damned because i'm 300% sure, but maybe HE will wikiwise. Here's last one i found from B.Corinthiano (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.41). --AL (talk) 02:59, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

He continues (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Daniel_D%C3%ADaz&diff=598139601&oldid=596848882), in spite of being warned several times. He also seems to have taken to writing "storylines", and the results are also disastrous.

Briefing over --AL (talk) 15:37, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

More! I don't know what the hell am i doing (retirement or not, that's irrelevant for the case at hand), since it's physically impossible to monitor all the articles at WP (in our case all the football-related ones) without sleeping, and "me like" to sleep...

Situation is: this article has been repeatedly destroyed, with a guy (Agu himself? Could be, but again it's irrelevant) screwing up the entire storyline just so he can add mambo-jambo about his career in law, without one reference of course. I left the article in peace for one or two years (and should have for good, hence my reference to the impossibility of monitoring everything), and what do i find upon returning?

This new account (the others are User:Rockystriker, User:Gangling, this new account Onyegwu also pulled the same stunt in early JANUARY 2011, and he also "dances" with IPs) took it up a notch, REMVOVING the football-related external links (see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Festus_Agu&diff=next&oldid=582244376). I stand corrected, he removed links AND refs (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Festus_Agu&diff=next&oldid=582247157)!! And inflated stats in box (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Festus_Agu&diff=next&oldid=582248381)!!!!

You do what your wiki-conscience tells you to, i'm seething as can be. Cheers --AL (talk) 16:51, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that a editor you have blocked twice has now returned and he is makes unexplained removals, when he is removing sourced text (Bacary Sagna) and pictures Hugo Lloris. If you want to look at it is up to you, but thought I should inform you. QED237 (talk) 23:41, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Vandal / Maybe User:Antony1821?

1 - that's a given, inflates stats in box, just what he did in Daniel N'Gom Kome was a dead giveaway. I would block immediately (this type of "users" are not welcome here i assume, and they reform very rarely), but of course you know best (it's this person https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/78.179.18.89).

2 - don't know if it's him, the name most certainly has no relation, but he changes stats in Greek football(ers) and, like the sock, cannot change updates/write a summary to save his life (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Trabakdelacua).

Happy week, cheers --AL (talk) 01:28, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

i know last week or so you found another sock from this punk without me reporting anything, so congratulations are in order :) Me, i found another two from the numbskull (please don't tell me to tone it down, it's exactly what he is, and User:Antony1821 is even worse because he boasted!), which are these two (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.40, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.65).

Happy wishes as always --AL (talk) 00:21, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

Speaking of vandals and akin, User:Juanmartinlavagna at it again (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Daniel_D%C3%ADaz&diff=598927362&oldid=598412499)! Please block the other account, User:Juanmlavagna, as well, so at least he has to go through the trouble of creating another account.

Cheers --AL (talk) 14:34, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

Please, Matty, clear this doubt i have: after the block occurs (and this Juan M type has been already blocked), which is the all-time negative that can happen to a user, why do the warnings begin again ("You may be blocked...", "You will be blocked...") instead of a downright block? Makes no sense to me, but would like to hear it from a person who is much more adept at the site's guidelines then me of course.

Ryan Giggs page reversions.

Hi, matty i saw you reverted the changes i made on the Ryan Giggs page, i assumed it might be because you didnt know what i had edited eg. skewing the stats or i was a rival fan placing something derogatory in there etc.

So i redid my edit this time leaving an explanation thinking i was being helpful only to find its been reverted again, its such a small thing but it sticks out like a sore thumb and im a bit OCD like that.

Every year is listed in one format except for one:

1996-97 1997-98 1998-99 1999-2000 2000-01 2001-02 2002-03

See what i mean?

Is there a reason why this one year needs to have more digits than the others?

Would appreciate it if you could spare the time to explain this one to me because im stumped.

Cheers

RE: Ryan Giggs page

Hi, matty thanks for taking the time to explain that, fair enough i can see why it is like that then.

Though having said that would it not then be the 2000-2001 season which spans two centuries?

1999 & 2000 are both in the 20th century or am i missing something obvious?

Cheers bye

Another who falls in love with the subject...

In this case, Hernâni Neves, "user" from Canada (i suspect a Portuguese immigrant in that country, there are there by the thousands) has removed twice the information that he was suspended for doping. He could have had some further sources we did not know about and he wanted to share them with us, but no siree! He removed the info summarily, no words written, "My boy Hernâni would never be caught in that web, only the other players", "booh oohh" (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hern%C3%A2ni_Neves&diff=592485965&oldid=575145821)...

He went as far as to change the title of the website from where i retrieved the info, VEDETA OU MARRETA, a site where the career of a given player at S.L. Benfica is presented and then the people who have an account there reach their verdict on whether the player was a star ("vedeta") or a complete flop ("marreta"). Well, our Canadian little vandal "corrected" the site's title to just VEDETA, "No negative words will be associated with my man Hernâni", "sob, sob". Getting as annoying as it gets man, i will leave on 12 JULY 2014 never to enter the site again (it will always be too much of a temptation) that's a certainty, until then you and the rest can ask whatever you want from me, i will help to the best of my abilities for sure!

Cheers --AL (talk) 02:47, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

 • This decision of me leaving and never entering again has nothing to do with the great people i've met here, nor is it related to the overall idea i have about the site (wonderful concept), it's just it's a never-ending job, and i: 1 - don't feel up to the task; 2 - as much as i feel i am a positive editor overall, i can't/won't abide by most of the guidelines, so that's a negative aspect right there. Overall i think i'm very welcome here, but my mind is made. --AL (talk) 17:05, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Always Learning: With respect, I don't think a random "Star or flop" blog is a remotely appropriate source for that material under the BLP policy, and I'll remove the sentence accordingly. I obviously have no problem with it going back in with a reliable source. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:30, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Since there are NONE available in Portuguese media (Record (newspaper) has stuff going back to 1999 but that's it, i'll try it there nonetheless), i guess true info is again removed from articles. Oh well, that's another reason why i'm leaving, but i TOTALLY understand where you (and WP in general)'re coming from. Cheers --AL (talk) 19:37, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Reference Errors on 23 March

Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:40, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Here's the latest by this utter idiot, and i'm complimenting him (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.236)! On a related note, what are the updates you can fill me in on regarding the possibility of a range-block? This is getting ridiculous to the fullest, and i repeat i think this may be one of those cases of merely turning off your computer and, voilá, you have a new IP, this imbecile is toying with us!

Keep it up, cheers --AL (talk) 00:53, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

 • I am fully aware that G.Snowman told you last month or so about the potential collateral damage of a range-block, was just wondering if there were any further updates, that is all. Thanks again in advance --AL (talk) 00:56, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Since this "user" operates a great deal in Spanish football, i think i "catch" the vast majority of them. Cannot swear we have them all, obviously, especially with that M.O. i fear he is using ("turn on", "turn off"). --AL (talk) 01:36, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Briefing over --AL (talk) 18:01, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

 • Did what and even more, as i wrote directly in Diannaa's page. Whistle back if i have not proceeded well and/or missed something important. Cheers --AL (talk) 18:26, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

(some)Apologies maybe in order to you and Diannaa, i don't think it was ever proven that that IP starting with 177 is Corinthiano/Bottura, all his IPs start with 186 (maybe i'm making a mess with all these reports and all these vandals after eight years, both hail from the SANTA CATARINA state but from different cities). But we have A LOT, THOUSANDS of the latter, so it's no excuse and it's disruption, vandalism or whatever you call it no? --AL (talk) 19:41, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

 • Newsflash: i don't mean this in a negative way, but she (i suppose DIANNAA is a female user, if not then my bad) seems to have sided with the vandal, no range-block will occur in spite of Bottura's idiocy/stubbornness/incompetence (one of the three - if not ALL! - for sure). I give up, will suffer through this a further two 1/2 months, then i could not care less, tried my best (as did you, undoubtedly). Cheers --AL (talk) 23:26, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Ah, and lest you understand something different: what i meant by "suffer through this" was "suffer through this idiot who has no respect for other people's work", not "suffer through WP". "See" you later --AL (talk) 15:30, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Another one

Serious stuff, looks like a scout or a manager pushing their FIA SPORTS MANAGEMENT site (see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/110.142.177.238), and it became very serious when they "contributed" in Andrija Delibašić, removing two links including the everreliable NFT.com!

Getting tired, so tired... --AL (talk) 16:22, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

could you fix the red error in the table? thank you. Frietjes (talk) 18:37, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Our Boca Juniors "friend"

See how he learns/cares (here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Juan_Forl%C3%ADn&diff=600974357&oldid=600767353), enough said...

Cheers --AL (talk) 12:58, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

Good thing i consulted this, he is wrong by not PC updating and he caps it by telling you to "go fuck yourself" (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Juanmartinlavagna&diff=600812774&oldid=599986203)?! Lousy behavior, well at least we know he can talk!

Exchanged a few words with him, did not insult but was assertive to the fullest, let's see if i gain anything out of this but a "serving" of what you just had --AL (talk) 14:58, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

Ah, and still on that despicable situation: we know that he talks like i said originally (even though a pig on crack would express itself more politely), and now we also know he reads messages, he just could not care less! --AL (talk) 19:08, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

I don't know if it was the Basque vandal that has been persecuting me, but several stuff was removed once again in box, as were all references to his loan to Cercle Brugge K.S.V. (in both box and storyline!). I did not go through the trouble of checking the edit history just to know it, because i'm absolutely seething!

Another reason to be very upset: player has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and, as many many (MANY!) times in the past, what happens? Article could not be bothered with one edit in months, and now vandalism's afoot, with the punks writing charmers like "He also said fuck to Manchester City".

You don't have to reply if you don't feel like it, but i have briefed you just the same. --AL (talk) 17:28, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

Cheers --AL (talk) 17:57, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi Matty, I've been working on the Ernie Thompson (footballer) article and I remembered you're a York City fan. I was wondering, do you have any print sources that you could add to the article to verify the York City info at the end of the article? Much appreciated. – PeeJay 11:49, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

Don't know why, but took the time again (in SPANISH, lest there are any doubts) to explain him, with an example, how the PC/NT update works. Let's see how he will respond, or if he will (i have an history of being ignored by the vast majority of users, vandals or not, but i'll admit i sometimes go "over the top" in my approach, even though i ALWAYS apologize for my shortcomings). If he does, let's see if i will also be told to "go make love to myself".

On a related note: 1 - i checked his other account, User:Juanmlavagna, seems to have been "abandoned"; 2 - when i was (deservingly) blocked for disruptive edit summaries, four years ago or so, i recall having received several messages telling me to tone it down, but i never received the proper (escalating) warnings, was blocked without them (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Always_Learning&diff=next&oldid=423965011). I thought it did not work that way and now, after this "person" tells you to fuck off and with the history he has (several blocks), why do you let him go now with a slap on the wrist? Again, not trying to tell you how to do your job, just curious.

Cheers, happy Saturday --AL (talk) 19:32, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

 • "Updates" about my block: i did receive a fair share of warnings but in anon IP (here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:217.129.65.5). Thus, and even though i know they won't read this, i present my due apologies to those people (admins and not) through you. Keep it up --AL (talk) 20:04, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

MY bad mate, sorry for that. I thought you had blocked him for one week BEFORE he insulted you the way he did, but it turns out it was AFTER. Apologies presented, hopefully they'll be accepted :) --AL (talk) 21:35, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Here's the latest from this utter piece of garbage (showing him the same respect he shows us! Please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.207). He's active as i write these lines, have rolledback everything regardless if it's a good or a bad edit.

Happy week to you, cheers --AL (talk) 22:08, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

The Boca Juniors "user" has returned from his block, doing for example this (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Juan_Forl%C3%ADn&diff=602162154&oldid=601499560)! "Fuck" you, or "fuck" me? No, "fuck" him i say!! --AL (talk) 22:12, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi there MATTY, AL "here",

for what this "person" did in Antonio Adán (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Antonio_Ad%C3%A1n&diff=prev&oldid=602279684), and per his talk page (warnings galore) would indef block be a good idea or not? It's OBVIOUS it's a vandalism-only account!

Cheerio --AL (talk) 15:34, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

 • Ah, and you know him already! --AL (talk) 15:35, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

PC "updates" / Technicalities

1 - two more that can't seem to write a PC update to save their lives, one has been fairly warned, the other has been tipped off in his (mine) mothertongue, both seem to say "talk to the hand" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:178.166.58.15 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Smecherashukristyano)... Let's see if you have better luck reaching out, i doubt it.

2 - once a competition has been established in storyline and linked (i.e. Copa del Rey), can't we just say "Spanish Cup" or "domestic cup" in subsequent instances? Am not saying it's wrong to write "Copa del Rey" always from the encyclopedical standpoint, but my approach is not wrong either is it?

Thanks in advance, cheers --AL (talk) 15:58, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

 • And vandalism rampant still in William Carvalho, a vomitting "user" has gone as far as calling him an "ugly ass black", undoubtedly a City fan who now hates a person he has never seen! Page protection maybe, for one measly week? --AL (talk) 16:03, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Yes, only one CUP competition in Spain, you have to be more specific in Portugal/France for example, there are two. Thanks again! --AL (talk) 16:57, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Now edits anon, has started to PC update but removing the hours and leaving the UTC (thus leaving an manual-automatic hybrid update, here he "is" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/190.105.50.157), i will message him and leave the rest to your attention.

Cheerio --AL (talk) 17:57, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Oops, did not check the geolocate, but i only see Argentine players being edited, nothing else. Could be that Mr.Lavagna is an Argentine Boca fan living in the States, not that far-fetched.

I had already messaged him before receiving your "letter", if you think i should remove it (not because i swore or threatened there, i did not, i can translate it to you if you want, but to avoid misunderstandings) tell me and i will. --AL (talk) 18:17, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Juan, with the anon IP mentioned above, seems to have understood the basics of the PC update, but i merited no words of feedback whatsoever (well, better that than being told to "go make love to myself"!). Regarding Umberto/Bruno, well here's another one we missed (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.12.183). Cheers --AL (talk) 21:03, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

PC updates / Disbelief

1 - let's try it one more time (don't know if he's absent-minded - happens to the best of us - or he's downright teasing us, would like it very much for the first option to be the correct one)? Here's his action (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Charles_Dias_de_Oliveira&diff=prev&oldid=602823048), which i have already corrected;

2 - what the hey?! He breathes hatred between cities and/or clubs and he's proud of it (check it out https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Mattythewhite/Archive_22&diff=596070221&oldid=594732185), he was even "clever" (quotation marks intentional!) enough to place his bit in the related message i sent you, so he knew very well what he was doing. Seeing that 3-YEAR blocks for anon IPs are feasible but i know that you're more lenient, can't you at least please make this punk rest for a few weeks?

Three months to go, and counting... Cheers --AL (talk) 01:52, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

 • Sorry about #2, i did not notice you had already "laid down the law", don't want it to seem like i'm constantly questioning your block/warn approach. --AL (talk) 13:29, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

And this guy which i have stumbled upon (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/114.79.0.31), don't know if he's including stats for all competitions in box - thus making his stuff "good-faith" - or he's just a vandal, but he's altering them big time, example in Hélder Postiga. --AL (talk) 13:58, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

And surprise surprise, surprise...NOT! New IP from the Brazilian "brilliant user and even more marvellous person" (since we can't insult), here it is (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.6.142). --AL (talk) 15:03, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

PC update

Hi there MATTY, AL "here",

my Benfica fan countryman continues at it (please see here, double "shocker", no updates for box and chart https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rodrigo_Moreno_Machado&diff=603392065&oldid=601861261). Maybe you'll have better luck trying to reach out to him, i've tried (and in PORTUGUESE!), he seems to say "talk to the hand".

Cheers, thanks in advance --AL (talk) 22:45, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

A user who you have already warned on another matter, BIGSHOW, has proceed to add the incomplete and unref'd statistics chart i had earlier removed. Seems he is a fan of Red Bull Salzburg, hence ONLY his team matters and appears in the chart! I find it unfair, unencyclopedical (no ref) and biased, what is your view?

Maybe you can have someone else have a look at this, i don't think it's fair to have you look at all these situations, your workload must be UNBELIEVABLE.

Attentively, happy week --AL (talk) 00:50, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

2012 Football League Cup Final

I'm pretty sure the flags should be historically accurate, i.e. the nationality the player had at the time the game was played. For example, despite playing for Italy later in the year, Rodrigo Possebon was still technically Brazilian when he was selected for the 2009 Football League Cup Final, so he has the Brazilian flag next to his name. I believe the appropriate guideline is at MOS:FLAG under the header "Use historical flags in contexts where the difference matters". – PeeJay 15:50, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Nevertheless, it doesn't make sense (at least not to me) to refer to Rudy Gestede as a Beninois player when he was more closely affiliated to France at the time of the game. – PeeJay 16:12, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi I'm the one who just edited the Michael Owen page, I cannot find a referable website but it was featured on BBC Television and Michael Owen himself has posted it on his twitter, you can see for yourself if you like. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lyndon James Ship (talkcontribs) 18:08, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi

I have changed the Grant Kerr page twice...Look at the transfermarkt and all of the soccer websites, to see that this information is correct. I don't understand why you keep changing it. Google 'Grant Kerr' and you will see that it's 100% correct information... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.131.42.75 (talk) 12:53, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi there MATTY, AL "here",

i am curious as to why this guy's IP was blocked too, now that he had understood (and undertaken!) the PC update M.O. Was it because of the uncivility in his account? If it was, i side with you 100% If it's any other reason, i repeat, i am curious.

In another matter (a lighter one), do you root for any team other than York City? In your country, i am hoping that Liverpool gets the title, if not i'll have to "choose" the "money-driven" Man.City, anything so that The Arrogant One does not win (people in Portugal, if you don't like him or this other guy, will call you traitor as the nicest thing; well, i may be Portuguese but i am not blind)... Other than that, i don't support any club fiercely, if anything have a penchant towards Athletic Bilbao.

Regards --AL (talk) 14:44, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Dani Lopez

Hello, I removed Lopez's Soccerbase link because the stats are inaccurate (misses out the entirety of his most recent loan spell at Barnet). Furthermore, I'd be interested to hear why Transfermarkt is not considered a reliable source, I've always found it (and Soccerway) to be far more reliable than Soccerbase, which only counts games played in the English and Scottish leagues in its stats. 86.28.103.105 (talk) 19:51, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Assistance

Matty, could you please drop an additional line here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Always_Learning#Please_explain_why_you_reverted_the_edits_on_CD_Numancia_B), so that this user does not think i am making things/guidelines up?

All that because of this anon edit i made and the message i received subsequently (see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:84.90.219.128#April_2014), am not "very fond" of being called a vandal! If you read the template for the warning, that was precisely what was thought of my actions, i ask for your assistance mainly because i only met utter silence after explaining myself, maybe something i wrote was not thoroughly understood.

Be it option X or Y or Z, i will not leave WP on the wrong foot and on bad terms with anyone, thus appreciate (highly) whatever assistance you can provide. Cheers, happy weekend --AL (talk) 16:33, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

 • I would have preferred the message to be for HIS page not for MINE, as there is a very good possibility this is yet another case of "Talk to the hand, AL", thus he won't be bothered to check my talkpage again because he has made up his mind, i'm a vandal period. But hey man, that was your call, i have to respect it, thanks again for the assistance. --AL (talk) 20:26, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

Talk needed (?)

This user needs some talking to, for what i have seen in Pepe (footballer born 1983) (especially this edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pepe_(footballer_born_1983)&diff=604270774&oldid=604213190, was reverted once, did it again!), i don't want to do it because i know my forms will not be the best, if you decline i will definitely understand it, no worries.

Happy Easter! --AL (talk) 01:29, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

 • For your information, i have just used the article's talk page where the user who engaged in said behavior also participated. Feel free (please!) to drop your opinion there. --AL (talk) 01:51, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

Another by User:Umberto Bottura (check this out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/186.225.6.57), in this case no talk needed, only a block ;) --AL (talk) 21:35, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

Makes me want to cry

Impossible to happen but it happens, one punk has been giving hell (sheer incompetence or trying to push my buttons!) at Luis Rubiales, doing the following: get the ES.WIKI entry text into the English version, put google translator to work and...voilà! A horrible piece of incomprehensible language! To top it, all the refs are removed.

Did it several times with several IPs, so much it led to the article being protected for ONE YEAR (! see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Luis_Rubiales&diff=546085740&oldid=546044454). Now, the punk returns with an account, and has proceeded to do the same, now he was "kind" enough not to remove all refs, removed "only" three!

I know the article can be reprotected for one year at least (because it has!), but i have a hunch you won't be going for that option. Hope to be in the wrong of course, cheers anyway you analyse it. --AL (talk) 02:50, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

 • My bad, was not considering the latter at the time of my complaint :( --AL (talk) 14:29, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Page in dire need of protection, lousy vandals (what they are, nothing less, nothing more!) are running amok, all full of hatred and/or sadness because the player has left their team. They vandalize it all, box, text, you name it!

Attentively --AL (talk) 23:04, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

 • Many thanks, let's see if that deters them...NOT HAPPENING! On a related matter, can you or someone please fix (i look and look and look and cannot see the glitch) the statistics chart below? The header "INTERNATIONAL" is not in its correct place.

Again, keep it up --AL (talk) 01:17, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks x2 about Aimar's article! In another matter, let's try to warn this chap about the PC update? I follow all the Portuguese and Spanish players of this team, and this guy (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:213.207.164.174) NEVER writes an update when changing figures in box. Oh, and no summaries as well.

As always, i leave it to your judgment, take care. --AL (talk) 02:27, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

PC updates (another!)

See this guy, which you already have warned for several other misdeeds (here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:92.30.227.187), don't know if he continues to engage in the wrong actions he is accused of, but "PC update he updates not", as seen in Steven Defour.

Unwarranted page moves

Sanica Boru Elazığspor seems to be the next in line of Turkish clubs, can't remember where they "operated" last time, but it was also a team from that country. I'm not 100% sure, but i'll be damned if SANICA BORU is not a sponsor.

You have been briefed, ciao! --AL (talk) 18:58, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Big favour needed

Please (where are my manners!), the following:

delete David Añón, then rename the much better David Añón González with the name of the "deceased", as the "González" surname will not be needed. Can you accommodate?

Thanks in advance, happy weekend --AL (talk) 00:52, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Ah, but what do you mean by old? You mean "old" as in "has been blocked already" or "old" as in "has been used more than one day"? If you mean the former, then think nothing of this message. Thanks for the page move(s)! --AL (talk) 13:11, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Matty, could you please fix the reference in this article that bears the title "Tito Vilanova: Barcelona manager steps down through ill health"? I seem to have screwed its display, look and look and do not find the glitch. Problem is glitch has also "destroyed" the manager stats box.

I think it will only take you a minute or so. Thanks in advance very much, happy weekend --AL (talk) 17:10, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Re: Revert

Hi, I realize that now I was a bit too fast, but I still think it is better to wait until season is over or even more IP will come and change league as well. QED237 (talk) 13:29, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

Twilight Zone Wikipedia version

Matty please,

any idea as to why this message is not displaying in the user's page after i sent it (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Tangerines&diff=next&oldid=596718090)? Cosmic... :)

Regarding Vilanova's page glitch, i see it only took you some quotation marks to fix it, but how come the other doubled refs in that article don't have any and they work just fine? Can you please explain that to me? Cheers --AL (talk) 17:07, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

Diego Poyet

I see you have labelled my minor edit of Diego Poyet's birth date as 'disruptive' despite the fact that I am correct. His birthday is 8 April and this is verified on numerous CAFC official pages and Diego himself. Soccerbase.com etc are incorrect. Please dont label me as disruptive again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mjc216 (talkcontribs) 21:22, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

Ricardo Pereira

Hello Mattythewhite, I have been editing the Portugal national football team and its' players for a long period of time now, and according to every source, Ricardo Pereira has been capped 79 times. Please refer to the Portuguese Football Federation Page in regards to this matter. http://www.fpf.pt/Sele%C3%A7%C3%B5es/Futebol/Masculino/Sele%C3%A7%C3%A3o-A/Jogadores , click on todos os jogadores and there you will see the official amount of times every player has been capped.

Regards,
