Query

Did you save the text for the original page so I can see it? I'm surprised anybody erased his page. I'm not sure what sort of page was here before, but I would expect to see a wikipedia page for any gubernatorial candidate in Wisconsin. Perth Airport

Hi. I ran into an 'edit conflict' with your work, which I found mostly coincided with my own. So I minimalised my contribution, hoping I haven't inadvertently done the wrong thing. I felt the PDF ref (No. 3 as of today) is an important backgrounder to all the articles on Oz airports, so left the corporate info in as a hook for it. My main purpose (in response to SatuSuro:)) was to heave out all the soap and demote overbolded headings to the MoS standard--and I see that you've already made a good job of that. Not sure. Is the Bills-Agostini report the same one talked about in the section above? Some refs there are now 404's. Do you need a new ==Level2== section? And needs at least a mention of mention of Rolf Gubner's report to be NPOV. I don't know enough about this (disinterested TBH) to get involved. Sorry, v/busy right now. Gilligan

Some considerable time ago, you left a note on the Arthur Gilligan talk page about an image at the State Library of WA: this one. PD photos are a nightmare and my (current) understanding is that a PD-Aus image is only PD-US if it can be established that it was published before 1946. As far as I can tell, there is no information about whether or not that image was ever published, or where. I don't suppose that you have any information? Redemptorist thingy

Hi :) When I was in Morley the other day for another purpose I ended up getting some shots of Redemptoris Mater Seminary on Camboon Rd/Gill Street. Shots could be better and I hope to go back there one day when I've got time, but it sounded interesting - students from all over the world chosen pretty much by lot, and so on. Worth an article? (Asking as I noticed you just wrote the one on the monastery) Orderinchaos 11:44, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

That does sound interesting, but its not something I know anything about. I don't know if you've ever seen the monastery close up, but its a beautiful gothic building with heaps of history and a great aspect. It must have been an very striking cathedral when built as there wouldn't have been the buildings around it that there are nowadays. My wife and her family have a connection to it. Mt Elephant

Moondyne,

There is no problem with conflict of interest over the Quarry problem, that has all been resolved by VCAT and no Quarry will be allowed and the situation is closed.

After that decision I then changed the "Mount Elephant" website, it is now a general interest and information site as is my sister site "Derrinallum", as you say maybe I should change my user name to reflect that.

I still think that the external links improve the Wiki experience, but as you will not allow them there's not much I can do about it.

Can this also be seen by mattinbng and others as I think it concerns all.

Ours is a magazine devoted to high end watches and one of our main features is a article about clock towers. Since the Summer edition will be devoted to lady's watches, the life of Ms. Dircksey Cowan and the Memorial erected for her were perfect for publishing. However, I can't find hi-res photos of it. Public Art Works

Am heading down to Busselton for a week of competitive sailing, will try and stop along the way and take some photos of the public artworks in Mandurah and Bunbury. Prime lamb

In the US the term "prime lamb" is not used to mean "lamb bred for meat", but rather top-quality lamb according to the inpectional services of the USDA.[3] Lamb graded 'prime' may well come from stock bred specifically for meat, but that is not the definition. You're making an unnecessary and false distinction. viz: The cite you give is from the Food Safety and Inspection Service. "Prime lamb" refers specifically to lambs used for meat. Moondyne (talk) 03:25, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Not sure I understand your point. There are five grades used by the FSIS for lambs used for meat; only the top one is 'prime'. The definitions of the top two:
  • Prime grade is very high in tenderness, juiciness, and flavor. Its marbling enhances both flavor and juiciness.
  • Choice grade has slightly less marbling than prime, but still is of very high quality.
On the other hand, I haven't seen any evidence that the term 'prime lamb' is used in the sense "lamb bred for meat" in the US, but that appears to be the usage in the UK, Aus, and NZ. Any additional info you have on the terminology would be great. Thanks, --Macrakis (talk) 13:36, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
OK, I think we're in agreement now and I initially got my wires crossed as to what your point was. My bad. In AU, the 'prime lamb industry' relates to the farming practice of raising lambs for slaughter and consumption as meat.[4]. In the US, it describes the meat.[5]. I am making no judgement as to the actual edit, just that the notice at the top of the page is very clear about the need to obtain a consensus prior to any substantive change. Hi Moondyne. As I've already replied to Drmies, that's a good idea. This has been going on intermittently for nearly four years now and I suppose I should think about taking whatever steps are necessary. I don't care about Daft's opinion of me or my work as he is entitled to it. The problems are that he will not accept other people disagreeing with his view and he attacks other WP members to try and get at me through them. State Register of Heritage Places

Hi y'all. In relation to the list which I am compiling at User:Russavia/Heritage -- can I please ask that editors do not edit this list whilst it is in my userspace -- I am compiling it for the eventual move into mainspace, but I am also using it for a project that I am working on, and I need it to be accurate -- Someone has added Ascot Racecourse and Perth Airport -- these are not on the State Register of Heritage Places, but rather they are found on the heritage.wa.gov.au website by an all-encompassing search. The same thing with some of the added Nedlands listings. Editors have also removed a heap of table lines which I am using to make my job in compiling the list easier. Another thing, is that this list might take me 6 months to complete; and when I eventually move it into mainspace, the attribution will be a bitch of a thing to do. I don't mind editors raising fixes and the like on the talk page at User talk:Russavia/Heritage, but please leave fixing the work in progress to myself -- this is mainly said for reasons of the attribution, but also because it needs to be accurate. Also, when you guys are creating articles, can you please remove Category:Heritage places of Western Australia if the only register the place is on is the State Register of Heritage Places, in which case please categorise it into Category:State Register of Heritage Places. Also, please be careful to only include those on my list in this category. The other lists as well that I am working on. Also, any photos which are found on Commons, please peruse the categorisation scheme at Commons:Category:State Register of Heritage Places, and create categories for heritage places, even if there is only one photo. I understand what you're saying but what I added back to the article was there for 3 years until I removed it. If it is disallowed, then how was it present for three years? (In fact, I was the one who removed it.) By removing it, I brought attention to it and now people don't want it there. My feeling is that there is a general hatred of Phillip Hughes in the public so people don't want it in the article. But people still believe he is the real deal. Would it be correct to write that Hughes has one of the best domestic batting records in first class cricket among all batsmen under the age of 30 with at least 50 first class matches? Articles are constantly being improved, rewritten and corrections fixed, and interpretations of policies change too. The statement was inserted here and that editor hasn't edited since 2008. In my opinion, and quite a few others, the phrase was inappropriate for an encyclopaedia and its removal was nothing to do with a like or dislike of the subject. Your proposal above would be considered a synthesis unless it was widely reported in those specific terms, by reliable sources. If you can find some, then make a proposal on the article talk page. I understand what you're saying but I've posted on the talk pages before and waited but no one every replies/reads my posts. However, once I edit the article, people start reverting. If enough people are willing to discuss, then I am happy to go to the talk page. I'll try on the talk page and see but what if no-one responsds? Wikipedia cannot progress if we have to wait for everyone to agree. Isn't it WP:BOLD that we have to sometimes make the decision by ourself to add something to the article?

Also, Michael Clarke has said numerous times that Phil Hughes has one of the best batting records in the country for a young player at first class level. So could I use that as a reliable source? If not, what would be a reliable source. I'm trying to learn here but I felt bad when you threatened to block me. Firstly, if you intend to edit regularly I would strongly recommend that you create a user account. Unfairly perhaps, most article patrollers will give a bit more more leeway, and engage more seriously with a registered user rather than an an anonymous IP. See WP:ACCOUNT. It enhances your online reputation.
Find a couple of newspaper reports which quote Clarke in those specific terms and leave a note with a proposed wording and citation details at Talk:Phillip Hughes. Many newspapers have online versions. Good luck. Moondyne (talk) 09:51, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Checkout your personal script file. If there's any twinkle related or User:Azatoth statements there, delete the whole line/s. It could be that the old script-enabled Twinkle installation is conflicting with the more modern gadget-enabled one.

I have no idea who is correct. Does Caras have an online version? If true other magazines/sources would say the same thing, so maybe search for something you can actually reference in the article. Hi Moondyne, I'm not sure what to think but User:Tara Mulholland has, in the past two years, only ever edited the Magellan Metals article. Phillip Hughes

Dear Moondyne,

I noticed you removed an addition I made to the page Phillip Hughes with the reason that what I added was not contained in the source. However, I think that you might have made a mistake. The source states:

"There were signs there that he is moving to the next level. We'd like to see that consolidated. We're counting on him coming through." [John Inverarity]

I added to the article:

"The national selection panel of cricket Australia is counting on Phillip Hughes to come through and they believe that he is moving to the next level in his cricket career."

Sure, there is a rewording but the meaning of the two sentences are the same. Could you please explain your objections? If it helps, then I'm happy to change it to the source exactly as it states but I'm not familiar with Wikipedia rules; I assume you know them better than I.

Not the same. Cherry picking with over-emphasis on a positive quote. A direct quote with a citation would be more appropriate here than a close paraphrase. And this should be in the career section - it made no sense in the lead as the statement didn't flow from anything previously said and seemed out of contetx. inneresting- the newspaper refs and the usage of the term is at least 1920's and 1940s were easy to see on trove... also the different reasons ... which makes me think that old wagr westrail track diagrams might be uploaded to commons sometime as they help understand the complex issues re train control perth - east perth and the main line to mount lawley, the bridge and the armadale line, the power station siding, and the loco shed when it was in use, and the various sidings including the link into the tramway system when it existed... issue with skating

Category:Aggressive skating is simply the parent category. If you think the parent should be Category:Inline skating then thats fine with me. But it should never be in itself. Moondyne (talk)

Good idea. Am currently trying to get my head around what was the original line of the foreshore just south of there: "Esplanade Reserve was reclaimed from the sea c. 1900. The foreshore in this area of Fremantle originally followed the line of Marine Terrace." I never knew that. It seems the start of the ocean jetty was on a distinct promontory (see map on page 45 - 1838 shoreline. 22 is the ocean jetty). I need a map. Cheers Moondyne (talk) 14:01, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
