Paul George Konody

I have worked this up some, let me know if you have any thoughts for additional improvement. I have also found a painting of the subject, but I am unsure of its copyright status since it is unclear whether it was ever published in the United States. I am thinking that with the addition of an image to the page, it would be a good candidate for DYK, with the five-fold increase in article text (though my DYK freebies are used up). Fokker f.VII a G-EBTS

Hi...I have been asked to investigate one owner of the Fokker f.VII a G-EBTS, an aircraft of great importance to London. It was last owned by Sir Dossabhoy Hormusjee Bhiwandiwalla...whose adddress was 583 chia bazaar, Bombay. See p. 356 here. He appears to be the son of late Khan Bahadur Hormasji Manekji Bhiwandiwalla [1] More... Bhiwandiwalla , Sir Dossabhoy Hormusjee , Kt . J . P . , Merchant and Honorary Magistrate , Bombay , comes of a very respectable Parsee family . He was born on 29th March 1901 . He received his education at New Bharda High School …[2] I am partially confused...but if you can help...or even if interested

Are all "sirs" notable?
The aircraft was previously named after Princess Xenia Georgievna of Russia
All weather Mac who doesn't appear to have a W article [3] flew the aircraft while Leeds who was married to Princess Xenia owned it. Also flown by Bert Hinkler and James Fitzmaurice.
The aircraft then went to a C. D. Barnard....involved in joy riding/pleasure flying...became a famous aircraft and made much money. It was renamed the spider at some point.
Maybe bought by Sir Dossabhoy Hormusjee Bhiwandiwalla in 1934, the year he was knighted ...what happened after is a mystery. We think the aircraft never had an Indian registration. ?broken up in 1937 [4].Whispyhistory (talk) 17:08, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
Knights aren't automatically notable, but few won't be if done right. You can start by doing a biography of the aircraft, or by doing biographies of people associated with it, in which case start with the earliest. Ultimately you can do both as an individual aircraft may have a biography even if an article already exists about its type. Philafrenzy (talk) 22:46, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

The honorific prefix "sir" is used for two groups of people - knights (written e.g. Sir John Smith) and baronets (written e.g. Sir John Smith, Bart). A knighthood is not hereditary, and expires upon the death of the holder, but a baronetcy is hereditary and upon the death of the holder, it passes automatically to the most senior heir. Both titles are granted (or stripped) by the monarch, often on the advice of the government. For the same reason as all the others - he was one of "the great and the good". There are, or have been, at least 315 Indian knights, awarded by the British monarch for service, success in business etc. Philafrenzy (talk) 06:22, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

Yes and no. The ref is correct but the archived page is greyed out, although you can see the text. Internet Archive doesn't capture every page successfully, for instance if it is behind a login or paywall. And more generally see Link rot. Philafrenzy (talk) 05:30, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

There is nothing you can do if none of the archiving services work (they don't all capture quite the same info either). Either find a source not behind a login and use that instead or keep your own copy locally. It's enough that you were able to read it but ideally everyone else would be able to read it too. This is a textbook case of an indiscriminate list. None of these articles are highly cited, none have received any recogniation, the original list even included predatory journals in it.
