Anupitaka

Hi Praanshu -

Just a follow-up to Peter's prompt above, we've had difficulty ascertaining the actual meaning and thus the appropriate content of the Anupitaka article. While we've found a few on-line references and at least a couple of translations of the term to "extra-canonical," we've been unable to determine the precise scope of such a term. The Anupitaka article -- the vast majority of which you wrote -- seems to indicate that the term anupitaka refers to non-canonical/post-canonical Pali literature, but the overwhelming contents of the article is solely about the para-canonical texts (Nett, Pet, Mil).

Wanting to respect what you wrote but wanting to try to make the material as meaningful as possible for WP readers (as well as other WP editors), we decided the most meaningful solution was to move the paracanonical-related information to Paracanonical texts (Theravada Buddhism) and leave the remaining text in Anupitaka. Given the rarity of actual English-language references to anupitaka (based on our searches of various well-regarded printed and on-line references), the remaining content of Anupitaka might be moved/incorporated in another article, though that has yet to be determined.

Problem with your custom signature

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
