I raised this with the editor concerned at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CPC character set, but the thread was immediately closed by an admin. Unfortunately that is typical of WP: it's more important to not rock the boat than for editors to be treated fairly.

Hi Rowan, I appreciate your ongoing work in the area of character set documentation as I think that information about most character sets which were used in commercially available devices is encyclopedically relevant. It is a pity to see many of your contributions being deleted for being unsourced. However, we are an encyclopedia, and therefore it is important that the presented information is verifiable accurate. This is really important - and not optional. I know that it is sometimes difficult to find good sources, but obviously you must have some, otherwise you could not provide the character set information in the first place. Therefore, I would like to wholeheartly encourage you to provide sources so that your contributions can be accepted and people can actually benefit from them. If you do not know how to use our citation templates just use plain text for a start. It might be a good idea to search for programmer manuals which might be available online and which often show character set maps. Please also try to research and provide some background information regarding the origins of a character set, its usage in actual devices, and its evolution over time. Sometimes there have been discussions about peculiarities or problems which might be relevant to document as well (and they are often also a source for references as well). Something I forgot to say, the reason why I changed GCS back to a redirect is because as an article it was challenged and PRODed and without sources it would have been deleted, so by changing it back to a redirect it can continue to exist for as long as it is useful, and your contribution at least remains available in the edit history and can be reactivated once sources show up. So, please provide sources. :-) Greetings.

Proposed deletion of Mattel Aquarius character set

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability_(organizations_and_companies)#Products_and_services requirement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. Given the lack of references, there is no content to merge and there is no valid redirect target I see (all links to this seem to be from a generic template).
