Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Anfernee Dijksteel, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Defender (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your draft article, Draft:Ronnie Vint[edit]

Hello, SKennedy157. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Ronnie Vint".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 14:53, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Ashley Maynard-Brewer[edit]

Hello, SKennedy157,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username John B123 and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Ashley Maynard-Brewer, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|John B123}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Red links[edit]

Hi, I don't understand why you are so keen on removing the red links. If you read the first paragraph of WP:RED, it reads: "It is useful while editing articles to add a red link to indicate that [...] an article should be created for the topic because the subject is notable and verifiable. Red links help Wikipedia grow. The creation of red links prevents new pages from being orphaned from the start."
I know that red links "look" ugly, and I agree, but they have practical usage:

  1. If an editor were to stumble upon Charlton Athletic F.C., and saw a few red links, he might want to create these articles (thus, "blue-linking" them);
  2. Take the 2020–21 EFL Trophy for example; "Mingi" is displayed without links. Let's say I were to create his article tomorrow, and didn't know that his name was present in the EFL Trophy article. What if no-one notices? It's very likely that Mingi would remain unlinked in the EFL Trophy article. If, instead, there was a red-link, Mingi would automatically be linked to his (future) article.
  3. Once an article has been created I, for example, click on "What links here" to the left. This shows me where the article has been linked. This was useful for Wassim Aouachria, as I found out that he was part Algeria's squad at the 2018 Mediterranean Games. Had his name not been red-linked, I would have not been able to find that out.

I hope you see that red-links, while non very aesthetically pleasing, have practical usage. Thanks, Nehme1499 (talk) 14:40, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Luca Vega has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Opponent in EFL Trophy debut is not a professional side, thus fails WP:NFOOTY and WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JTtheOG (talk) 11:06, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Luca Vega appeared in a full first team fixture in a professional competition for Charlton Athletic. The entry should stand so should not be deleted. SKennedy157 (talk) 11:23, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Both clubs need to be in professional leagues. While Charlton is, Brighton U21 isn't. Nehme1499 (talk) 16:41, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But the competition is a professional competition. It's not a friendly and appearances count as senior appearances as they do against tgr first teams of other clubs in the same competition. SKennedy157 (talk) 16:44, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's true. But, per WP:NFOOTY, Players who have played [...] in a competitive game between two teams from fully professional leagues will generally be regarded as notable. Nehme1499 (talk) 16:53, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I apologise for the live updating. I was just trying to be helpful. The blocking seems a little heavy handed. Also the changes just made you were referring to are after the match ended so not live updating. Please lift the block and I will not live update again. It appears that your block has expired. SQLQuery me! 22:12, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. SKennedy157 (talk) 20:33, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Also the changes just made you were referring to are after the match ended so not live updating" - no, the updates today were live. The game kicked off at 18:00 (evidence) and ended at about 19:50 (UK time), and all of your edits fell within that timeframe. I am deeply concerned by your (to put it bluntly) lies. What about the block evasion? You also need to deal with that. GiantSnowman 20:58, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The but I was meaning when I said the changes were the ones when you then blocked for evasion. I accept the earlier ones were live but the latter ones (which is what this message was referring to albeit not very clearly) were correct and post the game finishing. I apologise unreservedly for my actions and assure you this won't happen again. SKennedy157 (talk) 21:03, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So, to clarify - you admit editing live scores, despite multiple past warnings not to, and then you admit evading your block to restore the edits that had been reverted? GiantSnowman 21:30, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I do. And I apologise for it and will avoid doing that again. But the latter was very much because I wanted the pages to be 100% accurate as the game in question had, by that point, ended. Again this wasn't trying yo be duplicitous but appreciate it may have come over that way. I would appreciate a further chance to prove my general good intentions and to demonstrate that I have heeded your warnings which I should have done much earlier than this. SKennedy157 (talk) 21:40, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you - I appreciate that. I'll let an uninvolved admin review this and decide. FWIW I see no issues with an unblock given your understanding of what not to do in future... GiantSnowman 22:01, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the understanding. Glad this can be resolved in a sensible adult manner. SKennedy157 (talk) 22:03, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Squad templates[edit]

Hello, please note when adding or removing a squad template from a player's article you need to also add or remove the player to or from the template as appropriate. The Charlton Athletic squad template registered nearly a dozen transclusion errors which needed to be corrected. Michael Smith (footballer, born 1991)[edit]

Hi - not quite sure what you've done on Michael Smith (footballer, born 1991) on 3/11, but in updating for the Charlton match of 2nd November you seem to have also removed a goal. I'm guessing this is the one which the dubious goals committee awarded to Smith from the MK Dons game on 23rd October? All sources (soccerbase/soccerway/bbc) have now updated their data to award this to Smith. Please could you go back and correct these edits so that the data on wikipedia reflects the sources quoted? Hi. Please do not use the Daily Mail as you did at 2021–22 Charlton Athletic F.C. season. It is not a reliable source. See WP:DAILYMAIL. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 00:53, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Understood. But please can you be more careful when you remove links to pages as you made the whole page a mess by removing some of the other important parts that help with its layout. Kind regards SKennedy157 (talk) 07:17, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry. I was too hasty. Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 08:44, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox timestamps[edit]

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Mattythewhite (talk) 22:26, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please keep this in mind. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:10, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nile John[edit]

Hi SK. Can you quote a source for asserting in the articles for the player and the clubs that Nile John has returned to Tottenham? I have been unable to find any online source(s) and Charlton haven't yet finished the season. Thanks. LenF54 (talk) 14:41, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

He played for Spurs' U23 on Monday night. https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2022/april/bowden-strike-sees-under-23s-edge-derby/ SKennedy157 (talk) 14:45, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. If you read the text it says he is eligible to play for Tottenham U23s under the terms of his loan to Charlton. So he's still on loan at Charlton. I believe they end their league season this weekend so I don't feel inclined to revert your edit and then re-edit in just a few days, so I'll leave it as is but you were premature in making the changes. Thanks for your contributions. LenF54 (talk) 15:59, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the Alan Dowson article, but I have found one and added it for you. Please try and remember to include sources yourself with future edits. Nathan Asiimwe moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Nathan Asiimwe, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, and right now there are none. The coverage must be beyond simple routine sports coverage. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 13:55, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Career stats table[edit]

Hi SKennedy - please follow MOS guidelines for a stats table. Yellow cards, red cards, and assists are not tallied in the table, only appearances and goals. Further, EFL Trophy and FA Trophy appearances go in an Other column and footnotes are used. You can see the MOS here: Players Career statistics Rupert1904 (talk) 09:13, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stats tables[edit]

Please stop messing around with them, as you did with Alfie May - if a player only played in one 'other' competition, we do not need to say the number of appearances in that competition, as it is obvious. GiantSnowman 08:17, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dean Lewington[edit]

Hi Mate For Dean Lewington I'm not sure if you were aware that Soccerbase is giving him two extra appearances in error this season - for two games they have MK Dons with 12 players in their starting line up as they are adding Dean Lewington to the team whenever Max Dean plays in isolation. I've added a section about this to the talk page but just noted you've updated his stats a couple of times recently

Thanks

Live updates - final warning[edit]

You have been warned multiple times about this, and you have even been blocked for continuing to do this. Please consider this a final warning; if you 'live' update a player's stats again, I will seek an indefinite block for you. At Paul Rooney you updated the stats before the match had even kicked off. What if he had scored in the game? There is zero excuse for this. GiantSnowman 17:27, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If referring to Paul Rooney, then his contract is up at Dartford as non-league players deals expire after the final match of the season. Furthermore, he was playing in a friendly match (and got injured) for Lewes the other night Vs. FC United of Manchester. See twitter post from Lewes here
