SuperCoach

Greetings StAnselm, I noticed you reverted changes I made to the SuperCoach wiki page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercoach My amendments are correct given this page is not a SuperCoach AFL page nor a SuperCoach NRL page. It describes SuperCoach as a franchise which is both NRL and AFL run by the Daily Telegraph and Herald-Sun. Given there is also an SuperCoach NRL both are relevant to the wiki community. The SuperCoach AFL should have its own page. This wiki page should be reverted to the amendments I made as they are more accurate that the current page.

The title of the page is not SuperCoach AFL though. It is SuperCoach, which is not correct. The overarching franchise is SuperCoach and the two games that sit below it are SuperCoach AFL and SuperCoach NRL. Therefore "Supercoach" as a wiki page is incorrect. SuperCoach AFL needs its own page. Not the other way around. Peter

Mohit Ahlawat

Hi, do we usually have dab lists when there are only two entries, eg: here. Both of those appear in Ahlawat now and I have a vague feeling that we should use one of the "other uses" templates as a dabhat at the top of the two bio articles. Tuscon

The other problem with having Tuscon is there are only two entries. See WP:ONEOTHER. It is strongly discourage to have a dab page with only two entries. And be honest, over 99% of the people looking for Tuscon are looking for the city, not an obscure convention. We can drag it to an RFC but honestly, this is a text book case of why we don't do dabs with two entries, particularly since one is more obvious than the other. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. Request for feedback

Hi. I am trying to improve my skills as a WP editor. For over a decade, I've been an avid user of Wikipedia for over a decade, so I've seen good and bad articles. I decided to challenge myself by rewriting an article lead in a field that isn't my specialty. Sometimes WP can lead you to strange tangents ... and while reading about something completely unrelated, I came across the article "Martyrdom of Polycarp". The article lead left me confused and knowing nothing new. I note you have written and edited an enormous number of articles relating to Christianity, so I am hoping you could provide me with an appraisal of my edit, particularly style, readability and the like. Hello StAnselm. I note that you have reverted my good faith addition of the category Giftedness to the article Michael Servetus. I accept your reversion. However, just for the record the category Giftedness ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Giftedness ) is defined as "Articles related to intellectual giftedness or the condition of being a polymath" and my addition of that category was based on the following sentence in the Servetus article: "He was a polymath versed in many sciences: mathematics, astronomy and meteorology, geography, human anatomy, medicine and pharmacology, as well as jurisprudence, translation, poetry and the scholarly study of the Bible in its original languages." Hello I did an edit of the subject page on 10 june 2018, "sculpture of a king’s head found". You deleted my edit.

Okay, my edit was sloppy. It was my first edit! I'm not adept at this. I got very excited to see some news, and I just pasted the whole news piece onto the wiki page.

So, my edit as it was, SHOULD have been deleted; but if so, oughtn't you replace with a concise statement of the news I included, which was relevant and important?

George Pell

Saw your understandable reversion of the edit re George Pell being a convicted sex offender. A younger "nerd" in my house tells me it's actually true, and well covered internationally, but there is a massive suppression order in place preventing coverage of it in Australian media. This includes websites visible within Australia, no matter where they are published. That would explain the disappearance of the contents of the link used in the aforementioned edit.

To me, the complete absence of reporting on Pell here in Australia in recent times is a bit of a hint that something is going on.

Cherry-picking (ie making it look as though an author supported an idea he disagrees with) at Theory of Phoenician discovery of the Americas

This appears to be a major example of cherry-picking a quote. You quote John Denison Baldwin as saying:

The known enterprise of the Phoenician race, and this ancient knowledge of America, so variously expressed, strongly encourage the hypothesis that the people called Phoenicians came to this continent, established colonies in the region where ruined cities are found, and filled it with civilized life. It is argued that they made voyages on the “great exterior ocean,” and that such navigators must have crossed the Atlantic; and it is added that symbolic devices similar to those of the Phoenicians are found in the American ruins, and that an old tradition of the native Mexicans and Central Americans described the first civilizers as “bearded white men,” who “came from the East in ships.”[1]

But that's completely out of context. His next paragraph states:

But if it were true that the civilization found in Mexico and Central America came from people of the Phoenician race, it would be true also that they built in America as they never built any where else, that they established a language here radically unlike their own, and that they used a style of writing totally different from that which they carried into every other region occupied by their colonies. All the forms of alphabetical writing used at present in Europe and Southwestern Asia came directly or indirectly from that anciently invented by the race to which the Phoenicians belonged, and they have traces of a common relationship which can easily be detected. Now the writing of the inscriptions at Palenque, Copan, and elsewhere in the ruins has no more relatedness to the Phoenician than to the Chinese writing. It has not a single characteristic that can be called Phoenician any more than the language of the inscriptions or the style of architecture with which it is associated; therefore we can not reasonably suppose this American civilization was originated by people of the Phoenician race, whatever may be thought relative to the supposed ancient communication between the two continents and its probable influence on civilized communities already existing here.
