Good evening and let me ask a simple, yet complexed (to me at least), question and I will give you as much information as I can. I am working on a video game show that, soon to be, on YouTubeOR have a blog about it with some pictures. The premise of the show is derived from The Real Housewives of... title and format. My question is this, if this is a successful endeavor, am I allowed to post the show title and a brief description, along with season listing with some information, or I am not allowed to? Hi. Firstly, although I'm not an Admin, I can answer your question. It didn't actually need the assistance of an admin. You could try using the templete {{helpme}} in the future for questions that don't need an admin's help. Now your question. If your video game becomes notable, then it may be created, but not by you, as that would be a breach of Wikipedia's COI policy[clarification needed]. Also, the article may be created only after it has become notable, or else it would probabeley become quickly deleted. I hope this helps. If you are involved with the company/group/etc. in a non-trivial way then you have a COI. You are not prohibited from writing about the group, just strongly discouraged, because it is hard to keep neutral about it, and such. —fetch·comms 01:54, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Dumb questions
Question 1
Here is another, yet need to ask, question, and that is I have read at an unreliable source that there are notable roller derby companies that have some success in the southeast of United States. I have called these two companies and they have provided me with all Legit paperwork with details. My question is with little to no national exposure, am I allowed to create an article about these two roller derby companies?
Probably not, as notability means that the company must have received lots of coverage from independent sources, like the news, magazines, books, etc. If all the information is provided by them, and they have not been covered elsewhere, they are 99.9% not notable. —fetch·comms 01:54, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Lets' say, for example, a children's' internet multi player game, such as ToonTown Online is the question being geared towards, a fan-site called ToonTown Central, or ToonTown Hall either one works just fine, is this site a reliable source for an article? In that example, then for an article about "ToonTown Online" their own site is a primary source, so it can be used as a reference, with caution - ie that a) it does not help show notability (because it is not independent of the subject), and b) it can only be used for simple, neutral facts. E.g. it could be a ref for "The company is based in New York" but not for "Their turnover is $9M".
The other sites - fan sites - are unlikely to be 'reliable sources' - but, that is dependent on a degree of common sense; if YOU consider them to have a 'reputation for fact-checking and accuracy', then sure, they could be reliable sources. Most "user-generated" content is not a reliable source, so if it is forums for the public, it does not make an appropriate reference. But if e.g. they have "facts about ToonTown" and you think most people would agree they are 'reliable' then sure, it is fine.
If in doubt, ask on WP:RSN, the reliable sources noticeboard.

I have seen the hidden code the would allow you to magically type in a related template to the main template. Example is here on Wikipedia with the World Wrestling Entertainments' Pay-per-view template where it had previously had this code and I don't know where to find it. Any suggestions? I'm basically putting it on Wikia and it will be, more or less, show related like the example above. Then again, it could be expanded to other means. I just want to do to create a tranclude template so that I can easily place appropriate templates to appropriate articles, like WWE PPV WrestleMania winners and venues will be only on WWE WrestleMania articles where as on the main page shows only the overall template without any other templates being placed onto the page.
If your question is about the template changing its function based on the name of the page it is being used on, then you may need to create #if statements and/or #switch statements within the template. Wikipedia Ambassador Program in Houston
Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian from Houston. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors from the Houston area, to help with Wikipedia assignments at Texas Southern University. Classes at TSU will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester, and the role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.
Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
Over at The Sims 3 article, there is a section is made for worlds and which it inlcudes the world that was shipped in the base game and the free downloadable world upon registering the game to The Sims 3 official site. My concern is that there are two additional world via The Sims 3 Store purchase with on-site currency that has been given to the account holder upon the registering of The Sims 3 base game and the first expansion pack, The Sims 3: World Adventures, of 1,000 free "Sim Points" which are worth ten dollar in US Currency free from the game developer. The problem that I have is this, Barnacle Bay and Hidden Springs are, more or less, available for the base game like the free world called Riverview. And so, is there any objections to me updating the article that needs to includes the Barnacle Bay and Hidden Springs on the main The Sims 3 article. Also to note, inreguards of The Sims series games, is it wise to give brief quote and unquote world information or some noteworthy details shown at The Sims Wiki has? Just a thought. Yes, but only if you can establish WP:Notability by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Myspace, Facebook, blogs, fansites, press releases don't count as reliable. The test is, have people independent of the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about?
