In case you copied from there: please don't!! Copying from sources is not allowed on Wikipedia, unless market by quotation marks, and attributed. - Different responses to what you said my talk. What I changed here was just the indenting, which clarifies that something is a response, by one colon more than what a reply is to. - I'm not good in guidelines, more of a copycat. To find a guideline it normally helps to write what you look for preceded by "WP:". Let's try: common name is a very broad concept, WP:COMMONNAME. The other topic concerns the Manual of style (MoS), WP:MOSTITLE. Please read if you have the time. If not, just believe me that it is Fantastic Opera for major works, Symphony for generic titles, and "I like you" for a song or other small piece of that title. As I don't know the composers' works, I can't do it for you. In a nutshell: Wikipedia has its own style guides, and (sadly) little respect for other ideas. Singers at an opera[edit]
Sometimes I think we should have categories such as Category:Singers at the Leipzig Opera. If we'd list all with an article who ever sang there, the article would be long. - I would appreciate your input on Whittle. I'm unclear about what makes a composer "notable." I had been looking for inclusion in dictionaries/encyclopedias, their teachers, awards, and publications, especially by major publishers. If there is some other criteria, I'd like to know. I don't like wasting my time on these articles only to have them deleted.

- I commented in the deletion discussion, after adding 2 refs and formatting the opus numbers. Perhaps think about a sort by year instead of alpha. I reverted your addition to Monteverdi. A question: some of these works popped up when I did a general search with a search engine and they were listed for sale at amazon.com or ebay.com. I was reluctant to reference either source because they are so ephemeral, so I left the work unsourced. Would it be better not to list the work at all? or to list amazon or ebay as the source? T. E. - It depend's. If an article should go for DYK, works have to be referenced. Ebay is lousy, Amazon not respected. I think we have now all of Whittle's works decently referenced. Your edits[edit]
Hello, thanks for your article creations. I see there's been discussion above about this ... I know it's nice to connect pages to your new articles, but please be very very careful with this. I've had to revert a number of your edits of this type ... we don't care about random settings of the works of poets by obscure composers, ditto sometimes with sshort lists of students, such obscure composers shouldn't be placed in lists containing highly notable people, and we don't care about random times when composers went to see other composers' works. Your edits to Vienna, Heinrich Heine, and Columbia University are most concerning to me. If you're thinking of creating an article that have no natural connections to other articles, you probably shouldn't do it. I also question the wisdom of using a super-specialised reference to create a huge number of articles in a short amount of time in reverse alphabetical order but ... you do you. I understand the point you and Gerda made about Psalm 36. I don't understand your objection to the Heinrich Heine article. Julie Waldburg-Wurzach is certainly as relevant to that article as Nikolai Medtner, Hans Werner Henze, Lord Berners, Paul Lincke, Yehezkel Braun, Marcel Tyberg and Friedrich Baumfelder. T. E. - Oops, I linked to the wrong edit ... I meant to link to this one, which is much, much more serious; that you even thought to make it is extremely alarming. The fact that we had to wait until 2020 to get an article about Waldburg-Wurzach shows how minor a composer she was ... along with the fact that we'll have to wait until at least 2021 for the Wikipedia in her native language to write an article about her. I've gone and made another edit to Heine's article to prove my point that the list is not exhaustive and should only have composers with substantial notability. If an institution (e.g. a gallery, library, archive, or museum is asking you to edit these articles, you should disclose this; if you are being paid to make these edits, then see this guideline. It's not that anything is wrong with Tyberg. It's that Graham87 removed Waldburg-Wurzach from the following paragraph (re Heinrich Heine) which includes several obscure musicians like Tyberg: "Many composers have set Heine's works to music. They include Robert Schumann. . .; and in the 20th century Julie Waldburg-Wurzach, Nikolai Medtner, Hans Werner Henze, Carl Orff, Lord Berners, Paul Lincke, Yehezkel Braun, Marcel Tyberg and Friedrich Baumfelder. . . ." I totally understand what you are both saying about Psalm 36 and I will be more careful in the future. But Waldburg-Wurzach is certainly no more obscure than any musician in that sentence except for Carl Orff. I was using Tyberg as an example. T. E. Meeks (talk) 20:12, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- I think we might all think about our prejudices, and not call any one "obscure". For me, Henze is one of the really great composers of the 20th century, and Orff is not, so let's better not compare. The list is already long, Tyberg is obviously not obscure, and any addition needs a good reason, such as a ref saying that a composer expresses Heine's intentions well, not just "set his poems", - that could be very simple settings which are not necessarily noteworthy. Also, such lists should be by alphabet or - if known - by time of composition, so why would WW come first? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:28, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

- please don't assume, give me a source for her having done something special for Heine, please. I looked at the article, and fixed a few things. You please change all Opus to Op., and on the English Wikipedia, they normally follow the title, and all song titles in quotation marks, and no italics. It would make it look a bit more like other articles here. Another proxy is the presence of an entry in The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. In the online edition that we all potentially have access to through The Wikipedia Library, Medtner, Henze, Orff, Berners, Lincke, and Braun all have entries, while Tyberg, Baumfelder, and Waldburg-Wurzach (the latter two of whom I removed) do not. As for Tyberg, once I fixed the link to the cited ref, I was surprised how substantial it was ... I'm going to leave him in but I wouldn't mind if somebody else had a good reason for removing him. The reason I wondered if you may have been doing this project on behalf of an institution/were paid for your editing was that you are working in a relatively niche area of an already out-of-the way subject (classical music) and you have expressed very strong opinions about this niche and have tried to promote it in a way that most editors wouldn't. Hello, you're probably sick of the sight of me ... and this may well be my last message here for the time being ... but thanks for seeming to take my advice re linkage when creating the Valerie Vonpechy article. I've tweaked it a bit. List items should not be separated by blank lines, as that interferes with accessibility for screen reader users like me; see the guideline on list gaps. Works often have their own heading with types of works as subheadings, there's usually a blank line before each heading, and references sections generally contain a template like {{reflist}}. - It is on p. 748 of ISBN 0-9617485-1-6, which is vol. 2 of the 1987 edition (this is from the hardcopy). I think that online (googlebooks) this ISBN appears: 0961748524. I usually use the autoformat citation feature where you enter an ISBN or URL. Is there some other way I should be doing this? Thanks for adding the Psalm 146.

Lists of women composers[edit]
I don't want to burden you with a lot of additional work but we have two lists of female composers: List of female composers by birth date and List of female composers by name. It would be useful if you could add your articles to one or both of these lists. Some of the other lists under Lists of women in music may also be of interest. I also note that quite a few of those you have written about have also been writers. We have a whole series of lists for these under Category:Lists of women writers by nationality. Ancestry.com records[edit]
Hi, I saw the link you re-added to census records on ancestry.com. That link, however, gives 5817 search results, some of which are not consistent with each other (e.g., birth years on the first page of results range from 1847 to 1870) and may refer to different people by the same name. I intend to revert your edit for this reason. If you intend to use these records as a source, you'll need to link the specific record and have some way of knowing that it's the right one. (I can say from my own experience with genealogy research that verifying and cross-referencing old records is far from trivial.) About Beatrice Witkin[edit]
Greetings! I just realized you had made a page about Beatrice Witkin back in 2020. I've recently come to find out, the ending theme to the show she worked on, Wild, Wild World of Animals, was solely composed by Gerhard Trede. Beatrice might've created the opening intro for the show.
I was able to obtain documents from the Eastman Museum, up in New York, which contains some production info relating to the show, specifically the shows composer, Gerhard Trede. Included are some invoices, which denote that Trede composed the ending song, and all of the cues used in the show. There's only 2 other mentions of a "theme song" in the invoices, but it was for another Time Life Television production called, Other People, Other Places.

Unwarranted linking of your articles, again[edit]
Hello, there's nothing wrong with your article creations, but please be really careful about how you promote them across Wikipedia. this edit to Victor Hugo that you made less than 24 hours ago is so far beyond the pale that I'd honestly almost describe it as spamming;the least notable person in the list you added to, Édouard Lalo, is several – perhaps hundreds – of orders of magnitude more notable as a composer than Eugenie de Santa Coloma Sourget, by any measure I can possibly think of. Wikipedia summarises what secondary sources say about a topic, not what exhaustive library catalogues say (that would be a very different encyclopedia indeed). The problematic nature of your edits like this was affirmed by a couple of the editors in the admins' incidents noticeboard discussion I started about your editing pattern, who much more eloquently stated the issues I had with some of your edits; I'd strongly recommend reading that discussion and I'll mention this message to a couple of its participants. I came across you again because of this edit you made to Psalm 100, an article that I was reading. From a quick check of the Eugenie de Santa Coloma Sourget article, it also seems that you've haven't taken on board any of my advice above, some of which related to accessibility. Here's a relevant example from my recent editing ... when I found out that the Australian-British actor Kiruna Stamell was named after the small Swedish city of Kiruna, I added the actor's article to the city's see also section ... because it's a city of just over 20,000 that people outside of Sweden would be vanishingly unlikely to have heard of, much less be named after. I would've rightly been accused of spamming in an equivalent situation if her first name had been, say, London! Graham87 19:12, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

- The relevant guideline is WP:INDISCRIMINATE. In my opinion, Reynaldo Hahn is a minor composer, less significant than Edouard Lalo but more so than Eugenie de Santa Coloma Sourget. ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
