Hi, I am the creator of this page, I am a local historian and the photo referenced not copyrighted, it is free of use and is available at the Library of Congress, no copyright has been infringed! Also, I must say, as a Louisiana Historian, I find it heartbreaking that if someone is not familiar with an historic place the can destroy all of the hard work and effort in helping Wikipedia grow, If a problem arises why not help the new person? Instead all I see are speedy deletions and people who know nothing about the subject at hand dismiss and destroy the hard work we are all trying to be a part of. I am asking if you would be so kind as to help me and not hinder my efforts so I can navigate the nuances of Wikipedia. Deletion

Do I need to get an attorney to have my wikipedia page deleted? It's causing me much stress that is not needed. Can you please help me get it deleted? The original one I submitted was accurate. Your story is all over the Internet and the article is written in a neutral tone I don't see what I can do and threatening to get an attorney certainly won't help your cause it will only get you blocked!

As has been said..."Elkins is notable and chose to remain a public figure after his release from prison. Commendably, he lobbied hard for changes to Ohio criminal law, spoke publicly about his ordeal, and donated funds for a college scholarship named after him. He is the subject of a documentary film and there are many articles about him readily available online. I see no good argument for deleting our article about him" I can't see any policy basis for deleting it and indeed it has just passed an AFD here [1] You could try talking to the user who closed the debate User talk:Natg 19 All good wishes. Venustar84, If you're banned from creating categories, then I highly recommend following the spirit of the ban and do not ask others to create categories for you. Circling back on CarSoup

Hello, Theroadislong.

I'm getting back in touch on correspondence we had 12 days ago on my attempt to create a page about CarSoup.com. You had helpful advice and suggestions. One item you mentioned was having credible sources to cite in the article. My page included citations from Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, Minnesota Business (two regional business publications in our area), and CNBC.com. Just wondering why those would not be considered credible sources to cite. Please advise.

Endicott College article

Hello Theroadislong. I see that you are following our Endicott page, which is great. My students added a lot of content to the article over the past week...both good and bad stuff. Right now I am just working on editing it down to be readable and to eliminate "promotional" content, try to bring in NPOV, and eliminate unnecessary information. This will be a process...I'm only working on the History section right now. I (humbly) ask that you bear with this and allow my students and I to improve the article. This article does not get much traffic, and it will be cleaned up over the next week. As I believe you know, I've talked to Ragesoss about this and have a course page for this work. Our goal is certainly to produce a NPOV encyclopedia article. I hope that you can appreciate the fact that we are honestly trying to improve this page and evaluate the final product on its own merits. The paragraph that you rolled back was just moved by me out of the History section and into a lower section, to then be edited out and fixed later when I got to it. I had not added that content myself, and as I mentioned, the work that the students have done varies in quality. I agree that the article is currently bloated, needed additional references, and needed promotional sounding material removed. Will you allow us a bit of time to take the new content and make it better? Is there an immediate impetus to cut everything? I continued to work on the Endicott article today, removing external links, cutting promotional and/or dead weight content, improving citations and/or identifying where citations are still needed. I'm wondering if you could tell us if this is going in the right direction, and if there are any other external links in the article that you think need to be removed / replaced. Promotional Mishap

I apologize for the promotional information update. It was an honest copy/paste mistake. There should be no further information of this type on the Wikipedia page in question. In addition, the username change was made at the request of Wikipedia. I do have a question...I need to add images to the aforementioned Wikipedia page...do I need to wait before I can add/change images. Ismay

Hallo, in this edit you changed the mention of Bill Ismay to a link to William Alfred Ismay. While it's good to have got the man linked, I suggest there might have been two better ways to do it: either pipe the link using [[William Alfred Ismay|Bill Ismay]] or make a redirect from Bill to William Alfred - on the basis that if one article refers to him that way there are likely to be more (I found a good convincing source for the "Bill" version, which I've added to the article - and I've made the redirect). If the editor of the York Museum article chose to call him Bill (presumably supported by the dead-link reference), it seems better to leave it showing as Bill. But, as I said, a link is a great improvement to the article however it looks cosmetically: thanks. PamD 16:17, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

New article KEYTRADE

Dear Theroadislong,

Please see the talk page for the new article for KEYTRADE for further comments from my side. As I mentioned there this article should serve as a substitute for the German article of KEYTRADE. The German version is inaccurate and nobody who is interested in KEYTRADE really understands German. The article I created is in my opinion neutral, has no advertising at all and is just a summary of KEYTRADE. If this article is not ok by any means then I would appreciate if you can tell me how to change/amend the article or what other steps to undertake. Moreover if this article is not ok, than please delete the German one, because it has inaccurate information.

Hi! Regarding the changes I did, was because that our organisation ESDAW (European Society of Dog and Animal Welfare) were put under United Kingdom - our organisation are not specific in UK, but are working across Europe/EU. Seeking suggestion on the Endicott article

I'm wondering if you can advise on which external links are still a problem on the Endicott College article, warranting the template at the top of the page. I've removed external links in the text of the article (except for the domain name in the Infobox, as all college and university articles have an external link there). Message You Left me about John Fricke Entry

Hi, I don't think I know how to add a citation. But moreso, how do I add a citation if all the material that is written down is more from just projects and events that John Fricke (author, historian, DVD commentator) has attended.

For example, if he was the emcee for the 75th Anniversary Warner Brother's Wizard of Oz movie premiere, how do I cite that? I'm not sure if you understand what I mean...

All his works and materials are online but I'm not sure on exactly how to cite all these things as shown in the examples here. Thanks for your help and guidance!

Sonic.net Wikipedia page - how do I rebrand it?

Hi,

Thank you for looking at the Sonic.net Wikipedia page, but I think the tag you added is inaccurate. I am probably the user that caused you to put that there, but really all I was doing was trying to update the page according to our new brand guidelines - changing the photo, adding updated product information, etc. We just underwent a re-branding for our company so I was just doing my job and updating as much information about our company as possible. I understand there is a potential for conflict of interest but please understand I did not add any biased information, just facts and our updated name.

I am really not sure how I'm supposed to have these changes reflected on my company's page without editing them myself. Again, all I want to do is change the page name, the name throughout the article and change the photo. Can you point me in the right direction on how to do this correctly?

I agree with you that we all suspect where this is heading, but I always prefer to give ample advice and warning before doing anything drastic. I will continue to remove any "maintenance" templates that are incorrect and malicious in nature.

The issues provided on the "maintenance" template are based entirely on false accusations. I believe the person whom this page is about is being singled out because of prejudices against American military veterans. First, there are no paid contributions to this page. We did pay someone to help guide us on the proper formatting of a wiki page based on other pages of similar topics. No edits were made to the text or tone by any paid source. Considering that is what the maintenance tag is meant for, it is completely out of place when being used on the page about my client. Second, there have been no conflicts of interest on this page. I will admit to making grammatical corrections to improve the overall flow of the text and to make sure that the guidelines of Wikipedia for such things are followed. I majored in English and am more than qualified to handle that task. I am also in the process of ensuring that all of the references adhere to wiki guidelines. These are the only edits I am making. No edits to the context of the actual information are being made. I have read every word of the guidelines I am to follow found here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons) and these are the rules I will abide by. I will not allow this page to be subject to any prejudices or harassments. If need be, I will contact the corporate office. I have no issues with helpful edits and constructive advice. However, the two "maintenance" templates are not helpful or constructive but rather they are bold faced lies. On the other hand, I'm a beginner. I'm resigned to the fact that my struggles on the CMT page may be interminable. I have no idea where to turn for help in making improvements--even obvious ones like deleting the Grant quote. Seems like Wiki has a loophole here. People can just revert forever when they don't like something. Accusing them of edit warring doesn't seem to be the way forward, since I have to revert also. Thank you for your reply on 'Conflict of Interest' Theroadislong; much appreciated. Please can you advise on how I might therefore resolve an issue. Previously, the company who I represent had a page Change Tracker, which was linked to from the page on File Integrity Monitoring https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_integrity_monitoring. The page content was however deleted because it was deemed too promotional https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Change_Tracker%E2%84%A2&action=edit&redlink=1. I am trying to get some very basic company information (non promotional) reinstated on the Change Tracker page, but am having real trouble.

One of my client's key competitors, Tripwire, also has a company page on Wikipedia, which is causing some confusion with my client as to why they can't get a reference live.

How can I resolve this? I would almost prefer to have the link to change tracker removed altogether and start from scratch if I can't get new content live on the change tracker page?

Please take more care when nominating pages for speedy deletion. In general, pages should not be tagged for speedy deletion the minute of creation, as users won't have had time to develop them. The only pages that should be nominated so quickly are obvious problem pages (vandalism, attack pages and the like.) Otherwise, there's absolutely no harm in watchlisting the page and coming back to it later if it hasn't developed. Secondly, going through the preliminaries of WP:BEFORE is strongly encouraged - search for references yourself to establish that, yes, the person isn't notable. In this case a quick google search would quickly turn up reliable sources suggesting that the person is an important figure in British BMX. Such over-hasty nominations run the risk of losing useful content and chasing away potentially good contributors. Valenciano (talk) 13:09, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

My post to the Burt Reynolds Wikipedia page was properly referenced. It is factual. It is not controversial. When the post is read carefully, it is easy to see that it is a respectful statement of facts that may be of interest.

As far as I can tell (because I have never heard back from Burt) no one will even give him the information. Perhaps Burt would like to help determine the truth, if not, the mystery can be displayed on Wikipedia forever. The possible daughter should not be denied her identity. I would greatly appreciate it, if you would put the post below back up.

I am very new to the contributing side of wikipedia and clearly need some help as my article keeps getting deleted before I have an opportunity to edit post reinstatement. I have taken all feedback into account and have re-written my article from scratch. Good afternoon, sir. I do not have multiple accounts. And, I did note that I used 2 different names. I was philipofJMJ but had to change it to philipofBVM when I got deleted. I feel it is unjust to have someone, other than yourself, as I suppose you did not delete me, to delete me, as I am new here, and need time to figure some things out. I noticed your message that you deleted a "talk" left for user NawlinWiki. I am surprised on how you found it out before I could have the interaction of NawlinWiki!, but I do agree with you that the message was a little of limit.

You also mention that we need "people like you and me to collaborate, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner." I would expect you contact NawlinWiki with the same message. Otherwise your interaction would not be fair. As you might imagine, my frustration was based exactly on this lack of interaction (and someone destroying my three hour effort in an arbitrary click).

All I have done as Corporate Affairs Head for owners Merlin Entertainments is to make sure the page is factually correct not least the ownership which is not LEGO toys - as I say LEGOLAND Resorts are wholly owned and operated by Merlin Entertainments. I have also updated what is in development - again for accuracy - we have not finally signed any contracts re Korea for example. I assumed Wikipedia was looking for accuracy? Puffery

Thanks for your kind comments. I do not work for the FPGA companies I diligently document products for. I started the articles because those were the flagship line of products from the company. No kidding. Do a google news search or a google book search and see how many mention those products in SPECIFIC. Those families are the "high-performance" families, from a technical standpoint. I don't know how to say that in the article without you taking it out, so I invite you, please, add that in, someway that conforms to your strict "anti-advertisement" standards. I am neutral and prefer "de-facto" truths rather than "advertised" blah. So I usually write things that are meaningful to people from that sector. You seem to think I'm advertising, but I'm not. Go ahead. Add a statement into both those articles to show they are "high performance", heck some chips are used on space shuttles, ion colliders, everywhere you can imagine. I need to describe that the Virtex/Stratix series is the high-performance series and the others are slower/smaller (less gates). How do I do that? The article is VERY promotional at the moment, mostly lists of what you make. Wikipedia only reports on what reliable third party sources say about the subject. You have no reliable third party sources and nothing to indicate why the company is notable enough for an article. See WP:GNG With your conflict of interest you really shouldn't be writing the article at all, it is notoriously difficult and I can't recall anyone in your position having achieved it. Ok. The only reason I'm doing this is because the page was already created. I have no idea who created it though. It was brought to my attention by a customer. It was a blank page on here, an article. After some in-house discussion we decided we should do something with it. I have some friends who have done articles for their employer before without much problem, so it is possible. However I realize it's difficult. I've looked at the Wikipedia article for Swingline, and Black and Decker, to see how other product manufacturers do it. Ours is similar, however has more info. I do see that other manufacturers list their products though. Some without any references. Here is an example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACCO_Brands This page also uses the registered trademark symbol, which I was told can't be used on here (that's why I removed it from our products). We will have another discussion about how proceed. We do work with an agency who has someone who specializes in writing Wikipedia articles for their clients. So perhaps we'll hand it over to them. Thank you again for your input! The only reason I look at other company pages and other manufacturers is simply to see how they did it. Or what's included and not included. I don't do it so I can say "Well they did it so I can do it." More just to get ideas. I do realize that just because something is on one page doesn't make it right. It could still be wrong but no one has seen it yet to edit it. I also know some of these articles were written by a third party, however sometimes they are written by someone at the company. At least originally. Either way I just look at other similar company's as examples of what to include and what not to include. As for the company that has someone in-house write articles on here for clients, I'm not sure that's the correct route to go either. However I do know many companies and brands do go that route. I would need to talk to them more about it and see their stats as far as how successful the articles are (meaning they don't get deleted or edited to pieces). I'm not sure that's the correct route for us though. This is definitely a work in progress and the in-house discussion about even having a Wikipedia article has certainly changed. Recent edits to Roy Harper page

Whilst I agree with your comment about censorship, the original reason for deleting the entry was because it gave undue weight to one song within the (BLP) article.

There was no source or citation given for any notable controversy about the song, there was no reference given to support the statement that the song had been 'omitted from many online sources' and, when a reference was later provided it was to an upload of a concert video on YouTube (which I attended). The uploader simply stated the song was omitted due to the "wishes of the artist" (for which we have no other reference or source).

Most of the other references were from one self published blog by the artist - which can be used in certain circumstances to support facts - but not 'facts' that have not themselves been sourced correctly. I believe there may be cause to add some detail about the song to the album page, but any alleged controversy needs to be cited and referenced correctly... not created here.

Obviously this is quiet embarrassing. Especially for those who read my books to see. I have no intention of editing the article again. Could you please either remove the issue notice or delete the page completely (as you have warned). I'd much prefer the page was removed than have the issue notice read by all. It is not the kind of 'promotion' I need.
