Thardferr

I am curious as to why you have edited the article on "Thardferr." While walking urination does not have anything to do with the online game, I can assure you growing up in Pennsylvania and now living in Missouri, that the word "thardferr" absolutely is popularly associated with the practice in these Midwestern states. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by ColossusOfClout (talkcontribs) 20:54, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

I reverted that edit because, as it was unsourced, not associated with the article's subject and dubious in nature, it appeared to be graffiti. If I was mistaken, I apologize. Regards Tiderolls 21:00, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

It's true, though.

Every proxy they use is one fewer that can be used again. Eventually, they'll find it too hard to find a functional proxy to bother anymore. HalfShadow 01:07, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

A note

I'm sending this to the vandal fighters out there, If an IP address removes a whois tag after it's been placed on the page, please don't restore it onto the page as it's the newest thing along with restoring IP warnings to not be an exemption to the 3RR rule. Please refer to the Whois template documentation for more info, it is also reflected when you go to WP:BLANKING. Thanks. Momo san Gespräch 23:45, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Backatcha, Sky Attacker. Good to see you've returned. Tiderolls 14:30, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

I see you reverted this, but we are now left with List of Natural Born Killers copycat crimes, created as a sub-article by that editor. Seems to meet general notability guidelines, and I wondered if that was what you had in mind? Rodhullandemu 01:05, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

My revert was based on section blanking of what appeared to be cited content with no edit summary. I visited the editor's talk after I reverted to amend/explain/apologize for any template left when I huggled the edit. I saw no warning so I was waiting to see if they would contact me instead. I'll be glad to make whatever cleanup measures are required. Apologies if my revert caused extra work. Regards Tiderolls 01:11, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
I think the separate article is sourced well-enough to stand on its own, since the main is about the film itself. If you don't mind, I think the content should be removed from Natural Born Killers as a duplicate, although a brief comment about influence should be left. Leave it with me. Cheers. Social network edits

I see you reverted my edit, but didn't fix the problems they addressed. Haha. I'm actually from Michigan, and being from Michigan I know how good of a coach Saban is. He made Michigan State a respectable program and gave my Wolverines a tough time. Of course, now we suck on our own. And you stole our running back! Ingram was supposed to go to Michigan! It's pretty much right in his backyard. Keegscee (talk) 01:04, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Please provide a valid reason for deleting my contribution to the article

You have deleted my editing without providing any valid reason for doing so. What I have edited has been referenced with peer reviewd papers of unquestionable veracity. I demand you to provide a valid reason for reverting my addition. It looks as you are an advocate of the unproven hypotesis of anthropogenic global warming acting as a watchdog for preventing scientific valid papers to be know by the people. I've checked your contributions and I do not see where we've crossed paths. Since you have seen fit to address me, I will offer some advice. Instead of making assumptions regarding the motivations of other editors, demanding they respond to your inquiries and degrading their contributions, you may consider your purpose better served by calmly and without vitriol attempting to develop a dialogue. You don't know me and you don't know my point of view. To assume that you do will only reduce the liklihood of any worthwhile result. Regards Tiderolls 03:28, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Auld reekie roller girls page

Hello and thank you for approving my page. Unfortunately another administrator, Jimfbleak, deleted it. I feel it is very similar to the London Rollergirls page:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Rollergirls and/or the Texas Rollergirls page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_rollergirls. Thank you, Janet (Janetzillah (talk) 10:17, 26 December 2009 (UTC))

Thanks for your polite message. I think it's important for you to know that User:Decltype was the admin that declined the speedy delete tag I applied to that article. User:Decltype is an editor whose judgement I trust completely as they have helped me many times in the past. In fact, I fully expected that the deletion would be declined when you supplied the news sources on the discussion page. Even though repeatedly creating articles that have been deleted can lead to sanctions, I would suggest that you contact User:Decltype on their talk page for advice on resubmitting the article. I have had no interaction with User:Jimfbleak, but they have edited here for many years and most likely have some valid reasoning that supports their action. I hope that this situation has not proven too discouraging for you and that you find a way to continue editing here. We need all the help we can get. Good luck :) Tiderolls 17:02, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
I have read User:Jimfbleak's response on your talk page and see where they have outlined the issues with the article. Hopefully, that will give you some pointers on what needs to be addressed and you can move forward. Again, good luck. Tiderolls 17:15, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Ownership in article Brazil

Hello. The article Brazil has several issues, the main one is the fact that it's simply huge and overly detailed. In accordance with Wikipedia:WikiProject Countries and taking as model other Featured class articles such as Canada, India and Peru as I explained in here. As I made the changes, I explained carefully why and where I made them such as in here.

However, editor Rahlgd reverted all with no explanation at all as it can be seen in here. He is the only one who can edit the article without being reverted. Just see the history log in it. Also, this is not the first time he reverts an edit.

His behavior is clearly ownership. Please, help us. --Lecen (talk) 01:30, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your polite message. I do not think I can be of much help on the Brazil article because I have no particular expertise on the subject. I have taken a look at the article and talk page and I do see where Rahlgd's edits may not reflect consensus. The best advice I can offer is to continue your present course; avoid edit warring and seeking consensus on the talk page. I know the process can be frustrating, but the process is in place for a reason. If you think it might help, you can check out this policy. It may also help if you approached editors at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Brazil for advice and/or support. I apologize if my input falls short of your expectation. Regards Tiderolls 03:28, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Thank you my friend for answering me. Don't worry, you don't need to know absolutely nothing about Brazil t o help in it. The issue is simple: I'm trying to make the article smaller and the other editor insists on reverting any change in it. Any. It's 184 kb long and it should be around 120 kb. You are not obliged to appear in the talk page and give your opinion, although it would be really helpful because we would be able to improve the article. Blanking Steamtown page

Main reason is I do not wish to keep correcting vandalism - have put a lot of time trying to get it right, including references - see comments on the discussion page, and do not wish spin to come into the page.

Would like to delete the whole page - and if whoever it is wants to re-write it, let them have a go!

Maybe I am being an "owner"? just care about trying to be objective...

thanks Sulzer55 (talk) 12:37, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

I can sympathize with your frustration. However, blanking is not a viable solution. There are dozens of editors that watch recent changes and we catch most vandalism (that's how I saw your blanking of the article). In addition, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of editors that watchlist articles. There are many eyes on Wikpedia so you can at least take some comfort in that. I wouldn't worry about the "owner" angle...unless it becomes obsessive :) Please, keep watching the article...it would make my job much easier :) See ya 'round Tiderolls 12:44, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, you've seen it now. The strange goings on at the user's page (know who I mean). You're infinitely more experienced than I am, you'll know what to do. SHouldn't those diffs be deleted by Oversight? I don't know how to contact one. It's been going on for a while, apparently by an IP hopping thing. Have you any idea what I'm on about? I linked all I found. Dude, it's like, two clicks. Your head hurt...lol I'll let you know what happens. Tiderolls 13:27, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Looks like the oversighters found everything anyway, and it's been protected...but shouldn't something be done about the source of the attacks? (I wish I hadn't seen it, but I have). Know what I mean? Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 13:31, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Just wondering

I've been watching you off and on for the last year or so and I just can't take it any more, I have to ask... Why the HELL are you not an admin? I know that someone must have approached you about it by now. Even though I am one, I have a generally low opinion of administrators, so I very, very, very rarely offer to nominate anyone (My total right now is three...ever), but I would in your case if you were interested. You demonstrate a strong knowledge of what you do, you are civil and level headed and (most importantly) you generally stay out of bureaucratic nonsense and politics. the project can only benefit from cutting out the damn middle man and giving the WP:AIV admins a break, you more than know what you are doing. Trusilver 08:50, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Just want to say, I completely agree with that. I won't offer a co-nom, because I probably wouldn't help your cause. In fact, I'd end up failing it for you. But if you want to be an admin, I'd strongly suggest you take that offer, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 10:54, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks to both of you for your votes of confidence. Truthfully, that means more to me than the bit. I will say that my thoughts haven't changed much since I posted here. That was four months ago and I've advanced my abilities since, but I would not be comfortable saying I am ready. I don't know if my artcle creation, XfD activities or NPP efforts will ever satisfy the community's sense of nominal ability. I do hover around the noticeboards and offer help where I think I can be of use, and I abhor leaving an article in some state of disarray when I'm addressing issues on recent changes. So I'm learning by default, one might say :) I will take stock of my situation in March and if I feel that I have something to bring to the table I will be in touch. Hopefully I will not have alienated either of you in the interim....lol If y'all ever have any advice, or see me taking an incorrect course, please let me know. Thanks again Tiderolls 14:43, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, that sounds very reasonable. I'll be watching Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Tide rolls, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:31, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
What about take a break from your vandal fighting and start improving articles like stubs, or start class articles so you can get more supports in your Requests for Adminship, as that is what admins do. They also protect pages, delete pages, block users, and edit the MediaWiki pages. They sometimes revert vandalism but not all the time. I am the Czar of all the Californias! December21st2012Freak Talk to me at ≈ 21:38, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion. If adminship were my goal I would definitely follow your advice. I'm not an article creator and I'm not gonna try to fool anyone into thinking that I am. Certainly, I feel I have something to offer in addition to reversing vandalism, but to let admniship guide my efforts would somehow not seem right. That's why I'm waiting until March to really make any decision. By March I will be "active" for a year and it seems a good point to evaluate my accomplishments and the community's assesment thereof. I appreciate the advice and hope that you keep it coming. See ya 'round Tiderolls 22:47, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
I've come into contact with you quite a bit now. And you seem to be a very likeable person (You like Alabama, how can I not like you?) so im tempted to make my first RFA nom be yours. You would be a specific admin. One who aims at stoping vandalism. (of short, a J.delanoy type of admin.) If you were to ever pass an RFA, you would'nt have to just revert vandalism, you could then block those who do it! So why not now?--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 01:54, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
I actually considered an AIV-only adminship nom. I discarded the idea fairly quickly, deeming it to be unwieldy in practice and anticipated the community would not be receptive on many grounds. It's better to wait. After an active year I should either be ready or be prepared to accept that adminship is not for me. At present I don't need the extra tools to accomplish the tasks I'm setting for myself. Yes, it would be great to be able to block vandals instead of reporting them. I don't really have any complaints about how my reports are being handled, though. I appreciate your appraisal and your opinion, but I'm gonna wait. See ya 'round Tiderolls 03:15, 4 January 2010 (UTC) of course I'm a likeable person, just ask the guy that started the next thread :)
As much as I would like to see you with the mop, I respect the hell out of your decision. I think the best admin candidates are the one that don't particularly want the tools. Even without them, you are a huge asset to the project. Keep doing what you are doing :) Trusilver 05:52, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Opinion

you need to get a life. seriously.

Because nobody is a better expert on getting a life than someone who vandalizes Wikipedia for fun :). Incidentally, TR, thank you for reverting the vandalism on my daughter's userpage. She hasn't logged in for more than a year, but I like to keep it looking nice all the same. Trusilver 21:18, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome...tell her to get back here soon. We need all the help we can get :) Tiderolls 21:21, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
I also find it amusing that a Wikipedia vandal tells an active positive contributor that they need to "get a life." If we're already the fifth or sixth most popular website on earth, and the first go-to place on the internet for information for an astonishing majority of users surveyed, those who work on keeping the place vandalism-free have "a life" indeed, and are performing an important service. Not only that but they deserve praise. Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 23:02, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Henry Clay Vandalism

This is really getting atrocious. Three different ones in the last two days. I'm appalled. I'm pretty new to this editing stuff, so other than fixing the occasional vandalism as I scanned articles, before and after my username, I didn't really notice it.

The thing that really surprises me, though, is how benign all of it is. No profanity or inappropriate language. The first one was a virtually unnoticeable heart and name, the next a not very potent insult. Oh well. Thanks for the work you've already done.

Are there measures we can take against it? Like blocking 68.193.14.134? Is that our responsibility, or do admins take care of it? In.Lumine.Tuo.Videbimus.Lumen 02:06, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

I apologize for my late reply; I had already logged off when you messaged me. Yes, most vandalism is puerile and of little actual consequence. Because Wikipedia's aim is to operate on an assumption of good faith, there is a process for warning users for possible vandalism before blocking. If you are interested you can go to Wikipedia:Vandalism and get more detail. In future, if you have the inclination, you can leave warnings on the user's talk page regarding vandalism you revert. Please be careful to follow the order set out here, because the administrators may decline to block an editor that has been inadequately or inappropriately warned. Also, you want to be very sure about the vandalism and issuing warnings so that you do not fall afoul of the policy on edit warring. Please be aware of this essay. It would be rare that a regular editor would vandalize the encyclopedia, but we all make mistakes and one would not want to aggresively approach an editor that had unintentionally marred an article. To report a user for persistant vandalism the report is made at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. The user must be adequately warned and the vandalism must be recent. If you need clarification or further explanation, please let me know. I apologize if I've covered material you already know, I was only attempting to be thorough. Thanks for coming here to discuss your concerns and I hope to see you around more. Regards Tiderolls 06:25, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Ok, great. I didn't really know anything of the anti-vandalism stuff, so thanks. Of course, I agree completely with the stuff about edit wars, good faith, and so forth. Indeed, I probably wouldn't be for blocking our "♥ amanda" guy, because he's only done it the one time and did so in one of the least conspicuous places he could find. But our "and noob" friend I think probably would merit some kind of action, at least if he does it again. I hope I didn't come off as too gung ho about this whole blocking stuff; we should only do it when completely necessary. I'm more interested in contributing to the sight and making the info more presentable than dealing with vandalism. But when I see it, I'm now equipped to deal with it. Thanks, your help is much appreciated. In.Lumine.Tuo.Videbimus.Lumen 21:22, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
I don't take your opinion as too gung ho. I would welcome your contributions in whatever part of the project that interests you. It's good knowing a conscientious editor is on the job and making a difference. Best of luck Tiderolls 00:00, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Question

i thought anyone could edit wikipedia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.228.36.195 (talk) 00:20, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

To the best of my knowledge that is a fact. Tiderolls 00:24, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

WCLX.. again

Hey Tide, sorry to bother you with this nonsense all over again, but here goes... could you please take a look at this diff, specifically the edit summaries on both "sides". While it would appear to that the IP is re-adding valid content, I have to admit that it is unsourced. OTOH Petertripp is reverting it with the reasoning that it's "his station" and he can do what he wants with the article. I'm just not sure what to do regarding this specific COI, so yeah, another pair of eyes would be great :) cheers, SMC (talk) 06:55, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I've been following the back and forth and have not entered the fray because I see only less than optimum outcomes ahead. The "outsiders" seem determined to take their shots at their ex-employer and the owner seems determined for the content to be excluded. While the COI concerns are valid, I think the sniping of the ex-employees should be regulated by what they can verify. Full page protection seems a bit drastic for a 6K watt radio station article, and I believe the snipers would just auto-confirm and resume the "crusade" in any event. I will be contacting an editor who has been very helpful in my past issues with content. My intervention will not be immediate as I will busy until late Friday my time, so if you have alternate ideas feel free to proceed. I would advise that you tread carefully, though, so you are not drawn into a 3RR web. Thanks for all your help in keeping an eye on the matter, see ya 'round Tiderolls 11:42, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Alright, I'll try not to get involved - I think I'm finally starting to see exactly what they're fighting over and why (a newspaper's blog and this Google cached forum thread provide a very detailed insight). Regarding the removed content, I've finally had a chance to do a determined search for notability and found a newspaper reference to back up some of the ten-year history. That's as much as I'm prepared to change myself, since it can be referenced. Let me emphasise that there's no rush for either of us to act on this.. I get the feeling the conflict has gone on for quite some time before it ever hit the 'pedia! Thanks again for your help Tide, and have a good one. SMC (talk) 12:19, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
I definitely concur on your point that there is no rush. Good work on locating the sources, btw. That should really spice up the soup. It also alters my view of the dispute. When I contact the editor I mentioned above I will give them the complete background. Don't misunderstand me, if you see an opportunity to approach the article's content, dive in. I was just advising caution as it could become very problematical. Off to work now Tiderolls 13:00, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Adminship

I made a commitment to some editors I respect to consider an RfA in the near future. I owe them this follow through. I thought that I would take a more proactive approach to editing and broadening my efforts to determine if adminship would improve my contribution to Wikipedia. I also thought that three months would be enough time to make my assesment. I was incorrect...I only needed a week. Unless something changes drastically at AIV, I will not be considering adminship in the near future. There is no way I can improve my chances of a successful RfA without becoming something that I am not. It may be possible that with enough time I could gain the experience the community requires from their sysops. We'll see. I do want to thank those folks that expressed their confidence and shared their advice. If I've made any positive contribution, it's because I've had your help and support. Thanks Tiderolls 06:34, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

No problem Tide rolls. I'll be there supporting you every step of the way. Good luck in any case.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 11:27, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
I both understand and respect that. If you try to edit in a way you don't want to, just for the sake of adminship, there's no point, because it's no fun. Given your circumstances, I'd say that's a good decision (for the present anyway). I still think you'd make a helluva'n admin, but if that's how you feel, then that's fine. Maybe after a while. But even without the mop, you're a geat asset to WP (as was said above), Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 16:49, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request so welcome to the team. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guide to familiarize yourself with the process. You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on IRC where a bot informs us when new account requests come in as well as the mailing list.
Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day (a day being from 0:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC), although you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked "Account Creator Needed". However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM.
Please keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse may result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. How to optimize counter-vandalism

Hello Tide rolls,

Just like you, I do my best against vandalism on Wikipedia. Many times, members of Recent Change Patrol end on the same incident and work against each other. This morning, I started the recovery of the article about Ben Bernanke. After one undo, I founded more vandalism under it and was about to fix it when you did.

Is there any way we could optimize RC Patrolling for avoiding situations like that ? After all, there is enough vandalism to revert for all of us (unfortunately...).

The best would be not to submit changes to RC Patrollers before letting the bots do their job. Next, editions could be grouped or dispatched to RCP just like blocks of data are splitted and distributed in projects like Distributed.Net ?

Regards,

Heracles31 (talk) 15:26, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't describe this situation as "working against each other" as our goal was identical. However, I think I take your meaning. You may have a good idea regarding distributing tasks at recent changes. My problem is that I can offer no input on the technical aspects of implementing your idea. You might consider approaching editors at the recent changes talk page or the technical section of the Village pump. I would be interested in any progress you make so please let me know if any of your discussions bear fruit. Thanks Tiderolls 15:36, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply.
"I wouldn't describe this situation as "working against each other" as our goal was identical.". You are right on that one and indeed, you understood me correctly.
I searched in the recent changes talk page as you suggested and founded that others had the same idea before me.... Wikipedia_talk:Recent_changes_patrol#Coordination_of_RC_patrol
Should they decide to try a second time, I will be happy to join such a coordination. Until then, we just have to consider this double-checking as a second protection against the most obvious vandalism, despite it means less effort on finding / reverting the others kind of vandalism.

Heracles31 (talk) 16:07, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you.

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, most people do not know what the AIM bot scheme is when it happens to them, so there are no real sources on the Internet to back up the information in the Wikipedia article. This is basically the only source of information for people who get caught in the bot setup. I try to refer people to TheGreatHatsby in order to explain to them what's happening, but whoever runs the bots found out about the article and has been trying to undo my changes ever since. It's really frustrating. I appreciate your advice, and I will try to fight the vandalism while still abiding by the policies of Wikipedia.

Regards, Victim of Coho (talk) 08:40, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Please be aware you can be blocked for reverting more than three times if what you are reverting isn't obvious vandalism. Good luck Tiderolls 08:44, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

What is considered to be "obvious vandalism?" It seems now that Baseball1015 is removing an entire section of important information, and I keep typing it back. It this vandalism on his part? So confused about this stuff. Victim of Coho (talk) 08:49, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Removing information is not necessarily vandalism. This is most times termed a content dispute. That is why I recommended you locate sources for the content you wnat in the article. If you have reliable sources then the content can't be removed without consensus. You can find Wikipedia's definition of vandalism at WP:VAN. Regards Tiderolls 08:54, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi TR.
I was just wondering something: how do you find so much vandalism? hi i just dont understand y u reverted my edit. the pillow one. its true. plz reply also u were kinda antagonistic wit ur message —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.223.127.68 (talk) 01:43, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

The content of your message stretches my assumption of good faith to its limit. However, you've asked politely so I will answer. The reason I reverted your edit can be found here. If the templated message I left on your talk page seemed antagonistic, perhaps it was because you insisted on adding your edit beyond the first warning. I hope this helps. Thanks.

Thank you for reverting the vandalism on my talk. :) Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 03:57, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Alwyas glad to help. I know that you are capable of maintaining your own talk, but I ususally don't want personal attacks to stand. Thanks for letting me know you didn't mind me butting in. See ya 'round Tiderolls 04:12, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
I've been called worse things than a dickbutt. I found it funnier than anything else. Plus, we always find some new friends after a session of NPP or vandalism reversion, right? Have a nice evening, Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 04:16, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Tide rolls. I placed a heart on your user page as a way to spread the WikiLove. If you don't want the heart on your user page, feel free to remove it. Thank you. -NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy edits) 03:46, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, NSD. I have a rather tolerant attitude toward my user page, mainly because it is not mine in the literal sense. That's why I have an "awards" section; not to be ostentatious but because folks have taken their valuable time to leave kind and ( I believe ) sincere messages. It's not the icons that have meaning but the thought behind the icon...so sure, I'll let the heart stay. You have my thanks for the thought. See ya 'round Tiderolls 04:03, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

I recently initiated a discussion on WP:ANI about a long term banned IP vandal who is IP hopping with AOL, continuing vandalism, and what to do about it. I'd appreciate your input, if you have time. Thanks. Connormah (talk | contribs) 23:30, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Chi theta omega

Hey Sorry to bother you, i realized i had made some mistakes in the typing of the page i had been working on for my class i was supposed to make a Wikipedia page for an organization on my school campus and while i thought i was testing it prior to putting it on and working on it piece by piece i had forgotten to put references and then i found out from my professor that i had to change the title so because im what you call a Rookie at this i made a different page but didnt want my professor to be taken to the wrong one so i wanted to put See Chi Theta Omega Fraternity on the page for chi theta omega because without fraternity at the end my professor would not accept the project. im terribly sorry to take time away from you to resolve this with me but i just do not want to have a problem when it comes to editing my page ... oh and how do i do the references part, i still dont understand it at all... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arodcto04 (talkcontribs) 00:25, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure that I understand what you're attempting to communicate. It's not important, though. I have looked at your user talk and see that the article you created may have copyvio problems. I reverted your edit to Chi theta omega because you blanked the page and did not explain your action with an edit summary. I will strike my warning on your page and apologize for the inconvenience. Please read about Wikipedia editing and ask questions before launching into editing. It wouldn't hurt to begin to learn the value of the period. Regards Tiderolls 00:34, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Scott and Amundsen

Hi

This may be the second message I leave on this! so apologies if it is the second.

What is wrong with the change I made?

The first was to place the added paragraph to after the intro to Scott's methods, not before! Seems logical to me?

Second I added comment to place the section added quoting Murray in its contect. That Scott may have ade those comments, but he ate hisdogs and his ponies, despite what he said! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rinwilton (talkcontribs) 17:13, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your polite message. I looked at the article history and don't see where I had a conflict with any of your edits. If I missed something please let me know. Regards Tiderolls 17:22, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi I see why you may have done the edit, I wasnt signed in so the changes I did were under 92.40.125.202! So hoepfully you are happy to reset the edit? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rinwilton (talkcontribs) 17:34, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Ah...I see it now. I reverted that edit due to the fact it removed content that was reliably sourced. Since I have no opinion on whether the content should stay or go, I most likely will not revert you again if you wish to repeat the edit. There may be a valid reason for the content to be removed, but I would advise you to engage editors on the article's talk page or at the Antarctica project. I hope that helps. Thanks again for coming here to discuss the situation. Tiderolls 17:45, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I will "undo". Just so you know I didn't remove, i moved and added comment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rinwilton (talkcontribs) 18:12, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Re: Thanks

It looks like that editor is actually a sockpuppet of User:JI Hawkins. Bubby's edit to Colonel Sanders and JI's edit to Fountain of Youth look very similar... Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:01, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

But Bubby's blocked indef now, so it doesn't matter. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:02, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Indeed. Thanks for the info. See ya 'round Tiderolls 01:06, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
I actually came by here to talk to you about this! If you happen to see any more of these "Sanders Conspiracy" edits, could you please toss me a note? I'm actively managing that vandal through the use of an edit filter, but sometimes he slips by. I know that you're a prominent vandalism fighter so I thought I would drop you a note; you're more likely to see his edits than I am. Anyway, if you forget this message, that's fine. Just asking if you happen to remember this message and see him again, just drop me a little note so I can take a look at the edits and adapt the filter. Thanks!
Also, you can report immediately to WP:AIV on those (as listed at WP:Long-term abuse#Sanders conspiracy vandal). Thanks again! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 06:25, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
I'll let you know if I see those edits again. Thanks for pitching in at the AOL discussion. I hope that your edit filters do the job. See ya 'round Tiderolls 10:06, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

That sounds reasonable. I will check out your reference and self revert...without the misspelling of "In" in the opening paragraph. Thanks for your polite message. Tiderolls 00:33, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Here are the sources I used in the mutual intelligibility article: Mutual Comprehensibility of Written Afrikaans and Dutch: Symmetrical or Asymmetrical? and the same in PDF format Mutual comprehensibility of written Afrikaans and Dutch: symmetrical or asymmetrical? as well as Derived languages from Dutch: Afrikaans

The second source does not support your claim. The first one says "Asymmetries in the linguistic relationships between the two languages are probably more important". End of story. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 00:48, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
To be honest Seb, I didn't fully check out the first source completely. I verified that the site was on topic and that was sufficient to convince me to self revert. I reverted due to the spelling error and that was an error on my part. If the content issues deserve more extensive examination I'll trust your judgement. Thanks for your input. Tiderolls 00:53, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. It wasn't against you. These claims come up regularly, and I find them odd. :) (See my userboxes: af-3/nl-1) Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 00:58, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Um...ok..af-3. English kicks my ass, and you're at a 3 on Afrikaans. That makes you my "go to" authority on Dutch and its derivatives :) Tiderolls 01:07, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Makes for some entertainment when the right-wingers keep spamming the South Africa-related pages and curse at me for reverting, thinking I won't understand. I've been called the k-woord (>n-word) more than once. Kinda cute :P Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 01:11, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
