Gruban v Booth

Thanks for the review :). I've got a cruddy input method at the moment (netbook, uggh) but I'll simplify the lead and slap an infobox in as soon as I get to somewhere with a proper keyboard and a screen bigger than a matchbox. Ironholds (talk) 05:12, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

You're welcome! Very well written - I was drawn in to the story though I knew absolutely nothing about it. Vicenarian (talk) 05:25, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
I'll give you a poke next time I write this sort of thing, then :). Ironholds (talk) 20:16, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Re.co.de article

Hi The article has been deleted before I could copy the latest version. I have no recent copy. Did you save one before deleting? Can you provide me a copy so I rework it. As I explained to Piano no troppo, there is no advertisement in the article. The concept has emerged from the designers' community, it doesn't belong to anyone, it is not copyrighted, not protected, and aims to serve non-profit initiatives. I am doing my best to share on WP my understanding of it, and have made multiple edits to comply to WP rules and clarify this design thinking approach. I am also learning WP, being a long time reader but a very recent contributor... Gregser (talk) 08:35, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

I understand; as a new editor, I have made a few missteps myself, which is just part of being bold. I always try to assume good faith; I wasn't trying to single you out, but when I see an article that appears to meet the criteria for speedy deletion, I do mark it so an admin will take a look. I see another admin has restored the Re.co.de article in your userspace. I welcome your revisions that will allow the article to be moved back to the main encyclopedia. Cheers! Hello, Vicenarian. You have new messages at User:Dylan620/Adoption/Vicenarian/lesson1. Cheers, and happy editing! Sincerely, Dylan620 Efforts · Toolbox.

This message was sent to you at 17:27, 17 May 2009 (UTC). (Also, re formatting your userpage – what exactly do you want? It looks just fine to me, or if you want it to be really "fancy," then HTML will be lesson #2.)

I guess I don't want it to be "fancy," but HTML will be useful. Thanks as always! Vicenarian (talk) 04:07, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Random user

Hi, on the way to looking at re.co.de, to see whether there was something Gregser could do, I tried your "Meet a random user" function. First one was a hit. User:Trell. Lol, Piano non troppo (talk) 02:13, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

That's hilarious. But hey, man, the user page is ALL about self-expression, right? Vicenarian (talk) 02:33, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Also, looks like Mr. (or Ms.) Trell existed for all of one hour back in December 2005. And what a wonderful mark he/she made! :) Vicenarian (talk) 02:37, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Heh, heh. I was afraid you were going to ask me to recommend his page be purged. There's some page I read about standards for personal pages. But say, wouldn't hunting that standards page down be a good task for an aspiring administrator? (Evil grin.) Piano non troppo (talk) 02:48, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, a challenge, eh? Looks to me like the appropriate guideline for the deletion of userpages is here, with the appropriate standard to apply being a general application of WP:DP. Leeway should be given to userpages, of course, as they are "personal," but not if they're full of obscene language and nonsense, especially from a (seemingly) long inactive user - all IMHO. The page should be listed on WP:MFD for deletion. I'll go ahead and do that now. Vicenarian (talk) 03:13, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Done. If you'd like to weigh in... Vicenarian (talk) 03:41, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

I've seen it done on other articles, in an attempt to "clean up" the talk page, since the discussion of the review is over. However, I have no objection to restoring it here. Cheers, Vicenarian (talk) 12:41, 18 May 2009 (UTC).

Regarding the Rehab Project MfD

You had commented[1] about the "processes already existent" so I thought I would let you know, that mentors are often community assigned via ANI, or assigned by ArbCom. Those venues have the advantage of ensuring the mentor isn't just as confused as the mentored about the WP:RULES. KillerChihuahua?!? 17:59, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the information. Upon reviewing your arguments and the links provided, I am convinced Wikipedia:WikiProject User Rehab is not such a good idea. Vicenarian (talk) 18:04, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Clearly, as the first "delete" I agree. There are ways to help "problem" editors which do not involve such posturing and bureaucracy, thank goodness. AGF and Welcome messages help a good bit! KillerChihuahua?!? 18:14, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
-Moved from MfD page:

Killer, you're sort of treading on toes here. Down, bad dog! Vicenarian (talk) 18:54, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

I am being perfectly civil, thank you. I have no intention of pussyfooting around something because some editors might be made uncomfy when I follow WP:SPADE. There is a difference, please don't trouble yourself to lecture me regarding this non-issue. KillerChihuahua?!? 19:07, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
I am sorry if I offended you with my comment; I was actually trying to make a joke. However, there is a difference between stating your views on an issue and attacking the motivations of an editor for having a particular viewpoint. To do so seems to violate the spirit of cooperation and consensus we're trying to uphold here. Now, I am new, and do defer to your experience and wisdom, but I also call a spade a spade. Vicenarian (talk) 19:19, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Where and how did I attack motivation of anyone? KillerChihuahua?!? 19:27, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Like you said, it's really a non-issue, so let me just say I sincerely apologize for any offense. I'll keep my yap shut. :) Vicenarian (talk) 19:32, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
You have flatly stated that something I said was "attacking the motivations of an editor" and I have asked you to explain your comment. I would very much appreciate knowing what, specifically, you read that way. If you call a spade a spade, you must occasionally be prepared to explain why you think something is a garden tool. Otherwise you are not offering helpful, constructive criticism, you are merely insulting and then refusing to explain. This is unhelpful. KillerChihuahua?!? 19:43, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Ok, now you've changed your reason, PMDrive's rationale is simply that he is bored and wants something new to do. May I suggest WP:CLEANUP. KillerChihuahua?!? 18:11, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
This is what I was referencing. This was not discussing the issue at hand (what to do with the project), just discussing the reasons why PMDrive and Abce2 are voting to keep. I know PMDrive did mention his boredom and I do appreciate the many wonderful uses of sarcasm. But was it REALLY necessary? No insult was intended, honestly. My comment to you and the citation of WP:CIVIL on the MfD page were over the line, and I do apologize. Is there a WP:PLEASEIWASREALLYJUSTPLAYINGAROUNDCANWEBEFRIENDS? Vicenarian (talk) 20:00, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

(ooutdent) I'm not annoyed. Its almost impossible to annoy me. I was well aware of the precise post you replied to, there was no need to paste it here, in bold font. I happen to disagree. It was indeed discussing the matter at hand, because in an Xfd, all Keeps and Deletes should have arguments - not arguing like a fight, simply arguments like a legal case - horrible analogy that, but still - and those arguments must address why the article (or project or redirect etc) should be kept or deleted. PMDrive did not, except to state he was bored doing vandal-whacking and it would give him something new to do. That's not an argument to keep; that's PMDrive saying he's bored. Its a crap statement for an Xfd; its less useful than a "keep" without argument at all. This site is not "PMDrives little hobby so he isn't bored" this is "Wikipedia". I hope this has clarified my objection to the argument entered into the discussion by PMDrive, and seconded by abcce2. Please let me know if you see any further objections to my rationale, thanks. KillerChihuahua?!? 20:06, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

I do understand your rationale, and I actually also object to that same argument. When it comes to responding to such arguments, I defer to your experience. And yes, this is Wikipedia, not Pee-Wee's Playhouse. :) Vicenarian (talk) 20:12, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
And now it looks like you're being personally attacked. I guess when that happens, it means you're doing something right, no? Vicenarian (talk) 20:18, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
By who? Durova? Nonsense, we're having a spirited disagreement. I find her verbiage objectionable, and I am certain she has noted my objection. Nothing more needs to be said. She's a tough cookie; and highly ethical. She is the only former admin I know who actually honored her pledge on AOR; I'd support her in a heartbeat if she stood for admin again. OTOH, she tends to get a little self-important and dismissive of others. Doesn't hurt her to be called on it; won't hurt me if she disagrees.
Regarding your disagreement: Why? thanks - KillerChihuahua?!? 20:26, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
No, Drew R. Smith said some things very close to personal attacks on you, actually, as Computerjoe caled out.
You mean my disagreement with regards to your comment? It was simply a disagreement over style - you called out the bad argument in a different way than I would have. (I would've said something like, "Wikipedia is not a playground, and WikiProjects shouldn't be introduced 'just for fun.'") I don't think either way is wrong, just different. And, perhaps, yours is more effective at getting the point across without pussyfooting. I may have something to learn here. Vicenarian (talk) 20:31, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, Drew. Yes, he's been attacking me for several days now, we disagreed on an ANI thread. He'll get tired of it. Or not. I ignore it. I see what you mean about the phrasing; my concern with your suggested verbiage would be that it might be taken that i was implying the project was "introduced 'just for fun" and I think the project creators mean well and hope to do well - I simply have seen this approach before here and it does not work. KillerChihuahua?!? 20:36, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
And this is why I defer to your experience. Vicenarian (talk) 20:38, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
hah, I can still err, or say something which others read differently than I intended! If I say something you think reads poorly or might not mean what I want it to, let me know! Just please skip the "toes" and "bad puppy" stuff and simply say "Hey, you said this here[link]. Did you mean it to sound like you were calling [editor] a douchebag, or do you want to rephrase that?" :-) KillerChihuahua?!? 20:48, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Roger wilco, I'll watch your six. ;) Vicenarian (talk) 20:51, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Excellent. KillerChihuahua?!? 22:43, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Poker Face

You should have looked deeper in to the reason before submitting for a reassessment. There is no major issue or edit war. What is going on is vandalism by an user who uploads unreliable sources in the article while deleting the reliable ones. That doesnot come under criteria 5. I'm sure you are against delisting an article as good as this. The only reason for which this edit war started has been addressed and there will be no further vandalism from the user or wars. Cheers! --Legolas (talk2me) 04:20, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I acted in good faith over what I saw as a legitimate reason for delisting. If no one else agrees and the consensus is against delisting after seven days, then the reassessment will be closed and the article will remain listed. And we'll all move on. :) Thanks, Vicenarian (talk) 14:20, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
I never meant to imply we couldn't get along. My point is that in my years on wikipedia, I have, literally, never seen a GA or FA delisted (or even nominated for that matter) on the sole basis of edit-waring. Administrators will usually deal with the specific editors involved, especially when the information being changed is only one or two sentences out of the entire article. While I understand your reasoning, I am under the impression from experience that edit-wars are never a legitimate reason to delist an article, particularly when the vast majority of information being presented is facutaly accurate and the article itself does not violate any core policies. There are much easier was of dealing with WP:DISRUPTION that causing the enitre article to suffer. That bing said, feel free to contact me for any reason in the future. The Bookkeeper (of the Occult) 00:03, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
I know, I assumed we could get along - my comment was more directed to the two edit warriors involved with this page, as opposed to you. I understand your point and upon reflection, I tend to agree. Maybe something should be put on WP:GAR noting that disruptive editing is generally not a reason to delist? Maybe that's something we should get comment on? I've actually added a talk section on WP:GAR about it. But yes, I do hope we can get along, all of us. :) Vicenarian (talk) 00:14, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Twitter good article

Firstly, thanks for undergoing the good article review for Twitter. I'm glad you took the time to review the article and give us feedback on it. But I noticed you put the review on hold due to ongoing changes. The last really constructive edit, as I see it, was my rewrite of the second half of the article, which I've now completed. Since then, the only things that have changed are minor vandalism edits. I completely understand if you think the review should be put on hold, and that's your choice as reviewer. I just thought I'd point out what I see as going on. Thanks! Greg Tyler (tc) 07:11, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the comment. I think you may be right. Let's wait for seven days and if no other major, non-disruptive edits are done, I'll do a full review - and I think it'll pass. Vicenarian (talk) 14:26, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I have 1 granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Glad to do it. You were long overdue and I don't pass these things out as often as I should. My bad and I promise to pass out more. Thanks for alerting me to that CNET guy. Well, thanks. :) Good copyvio catch, I need to be on the lookout for that more. What's the best copyvio detection method, when no source is readily available? Ah, glad I swung by. When it isn't readily apparent, I simply cut and paste a piece of the text into Google. When I get lots of big black words on the match, I know I may be on to something.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:11, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

He says, violating his own advice. Vicenarian (talk) 20:25, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi there. I've moved this down to the bottom of your talk page; please create a new section at the end when adding a help request.

Firstly, don't panic; this is, I understand, being discussed on the talk page. Even if it is deleted, it doesn't matter; you can simply ask the deleting administrator to put a copy into your user area, and work on it there to get it into shape. At the moment, there is no reference to assert notability (per WP:ORG), so I would imagine that it will be deleted.

Remember, there is no deadline. If you need any further help in sorting things out, please ask. If it is deleted and you think it could be fixed up, ask the deleter for a copy, and then work to improve it in your user space. If you do this, it would be a very good idea to ask someone to check it over before re-creating it - you could ask on WP:FEED, or use another helpme, or Talk to us live. Best of luck,  Chzz  ►  20:32, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I'm the nominator... I'm just overly anxious to have an admin verdict on speedy deletion. :) Thanks for the words of wisdom, though, always appreciated. Vicenarian (talk) 20:35, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your help at GAR. We really need more editors to contribute to the process. I wanted to let you know that I have commented on your close of WP:Good article reassessment/Wal-Mart/1 because trying to count votes is not something that's we normally do at GAR. This May Sound Odd...

...but thank you for reverting the vandalism to my Vandalbox! :) --T'Shael MindMeld 04:54, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I noticed it said "VANDALBOX" after I clicked the Huggle rollback/warn. What the heck is a Vandalbox? Oh, and, you're welcome. :) Vicenarian (talk) 04:55, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Simply put a vandalbox is a place to vandalize. ;) Sometimes I make people angry in the course of my reverts and I would rather them vandalize a specific place than my user or talk page. Anyone is welcome to "vandalize" it provided they follow the rules on the page. The user you reverted broke two of the rules in that he removed the header and used obscenities. :) I'd made him angry earlier because I warned him about an attack page he created. --T'Shael MindMeld 04:58, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
But... aren't vandals likely to just ignore the rules and vandalize whatever they want, i.e., your main user page, talk page, etc.? Happy to help, in any case. Vicenarian (talk) 04:59, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Sometimes they go ahead and vandalize my talk page anyway (as my user page is semi-protected), but it's worked twice. --T'Shael MindMeld 05:03, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Twitter

Hi there Vicenarian, I noticed you failed Twitter's GAN, and I gave the article a look. It might be interesting to note that this edit was made by an IP user. In a nutshell, the user messed with the hidden comment code, which led to the a big chunk of the article text to disappear. I'm not involved in the article, but I thought you should give that a look over. Regards. — Σxplicit 05:39, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you just failed the article. I went to look at it, and was puzzled by the lede, who seemed to completely miss WP:LEAD. As it turned out, an unclosed tag caused the entire lead to be out-commented in the latest revision. Are you sure you were looking at the correct revision when you failed it? decltype (talk) 05:39, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for pointing that out guys. I hadn't noticed that. Tell you the truth though, I am concerned with the stability of the article, beyond that edit. Umm, user:mymyfatboy is my friend and what I wrote on his page was not an attack on him at all. I don't understand why I need to be warned. ---from User: FightingSaintsWHA —Preceding undated comment added 22:30, 25 May 2009 (UTC).

As a rule, it's generally thought to be unacceptable to write on other users' userpages unless permission to do so is explicitly given on the userpage. Also, material on userpages should be specific to Wikipedia, as Wikipedia is not a blog or personal website. See WP:USER for guidelines. In this case, as Mymyfatboy has been blocked indefinitely due to persistent vandalism, he/she cannot give permission, so I would suggest not editing his/her pages any further. The pages may simply be deleted and salted, and you may find yourself the subject of vandalism blocks for the edits. Vicenarian (T · C) 22:41, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

The Good Book Company

Good evening (or morning) Vicenarian, I've reworked the Good Book Company article pretty hard in my userspace to de-spam it (after your speedy delete), and I then asked other wiki people to review it and make some mods, which they've done. (I use the helpme function). Would you do me the honour, sir, of seeing if there's anything else that jumps out at you, before I load it back into articlespace? The discussion is at User talk:Torquil Sorensen/The Good Book Company. P.S. I'm glad that your thermometer is in the green. Torquil Sorensen (talk) 00:06, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the chance to give it a look over. It looks great, you did an excellent job and should be commended. I think it's ready to go back into article space as soon as you'd like. Vicenarian (T · C) 00:09, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for all the encouragement you've given me! One question - given that my original article of 20th May underwent a speedy delete and also that someone else's article on the Good Book Company had been deleted a couple of years ago (for blatant advertising, lack of notability etc); when I upload my article into articlespace, would it be appropriate for me to put some sort of comment into the talk page for the article, as to what I had done to improve my article? Torquil Sorensen (talk) 01:36, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
I'll watch it. If speedy delete is placed on it, I'll remove the tag. That should prevent speedy deletion (though an admin may still delete). You're welcome to note on the talk page your efforts at reforming the article. Vicenarian (T · C) 01:53, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Much appreciated. The Good Book Company has been a great learning exercise for me. Torquil Sorensen (talk) 11:52, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I-TEC

Is there a way you can recover the speedy-deleted I-TEC article? I've reviewed the spam policy and realized that several of the links I was using triggered the evil red spam-flag... They should've been at the end of the quotes I was using, linking back to the original articles. The page got tagged for speedy deletion and then deleted before I learned what speedy deletion is (I'm a new wikipedia editor). So now that I am aware of the issues involved, I'd like to recover the page (if possible) and move it to my namespace so I can work on it and bring it up to Wikipedia's standard. You have my permission to post the article to my user page, and/or extend that permission to an admin capable of recovering the article. Any advice you can give would also be greatly appreciated. Livingdust (talk) 18:32, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, I'm not an admin, so try going to CAT:RESTORE to get an admin to put a copy in your userspace. Once there, I'd be happy to look it over and help you edit to make it pass muster. Cheers! Vicenarian (T · C) 18:38, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

If BLH has been declared as a sock of User:Bambifan101, then does that mean... oh my... Dylan620 (Toolbox Alpha, Beta) 20:05, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh good gracious, no! I'm not User:Bambifan101! The declaration of User:BambisLittleHelperz as a sock was done by the bot that scans usernames for those that are known-sock-sounding. The block was done by an admin who, WP:AGF of course, I don't think looked too carefully. Vicenarian (T · C) 20:10, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
See WP:TROLLFUN. User:PMDrive1061 and I were fooling around, pretending to be User:Bambifan101 because he had just launched a pretty nasty attack at PM, and we thought humor would make us all feel better. Vicenarian (T · C) 20:12, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
I created the account to SOUND like User:Bambifan101, but I created the account, I hold the password to it, it was never used as a User:Bambifan101 sock. I'm willing to admit that may have been poor judgment on my part, as it obviously opens me up to accusations of sockpuppetry. I'm willing to scramble the password to User:BambisLittleHelperz and leave it alone. And move on to more important things, like vandal fighting, Good Article reviewing, etc. Vicenarian (T · C) 20:22, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Bravo!

You managed to perfectly and eloquently convey my own thoughts on the subject. I've always used what I call the "George Washington Example." Assuming Wikipedia didn't have an article on Washington and the very first edit was along the lines of:

"George Washington (February 22, 1732 – December 14, 1799) was the first President of the United States."

That may have established notability, but it sure as heck is NOT an article but a declaratory statement. In other words, deleteable on the spot because the supposed poster was too lazy to do any adequate research for a stub. I've written dozens of stubs, but all have been useable and informative from the get-go.

Again, a great essay. Next time someone complains about my deleting or redirecting a "nanostub," I will gently refer that person to your composition. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:21, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

LiveAccess

Hi, I thought you had decided that it wasn't an advertisement and should simply be re-written? It is not an advertisement and I do not work for the WNBA. I simply thought it would be a good idea to have a page for it that way when it is mentioned in numerous articles, people can click the link to see what is being talked about. Thoughts on this?

Thanks, Nickv1025 (talk) 01:46, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

It wasn't blatant advertising, and I wanted to give time for it to be rewritten to sound more neutral. If you read it over, it sounds a lot like a press release, and lot less like an encyclopedia article. My advice is to try writing it as if you had no interest in the subject whatsoever, but were merely stating facts about it. That usually results in a more WP:NPOV article.
Feel free to contest the PROD (by removing it from the page). But I would advise reworking it, lest it be put up for full deletion review. I don't like getting articles deleted, but if they don't fit the criteria... let me know if you need any further assistance. Regards, Vicenarian (T · C) 01:51, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Location change (and reservations made) for DC meetup

We originally considered TGI Friday's in Foggy Bottom as the meetup location, however I stopped by TGI Friday's this evening to make reservations. I was less than impressed. They apparently don't take reservations, except perhaps if you call 24 hours ahead of time. The staff was not so helpful, and the menu has hardly anything vegetarian which is an issue for some people.

So, I checked out the Bertucci's pizza/Italian place across the street (21st & I St NW). Their staff couldn't have been more helpful, think it will be fairly quiet so we will be able to hear each other, and is a very suitable place for us. So, reservations are made for Bertucci's at 5pm on Saturday. I hope you can make it to the meetup. --Aude (talk) 02:51, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

It's reassuring to know someone's got my back. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 16:05, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Double thanks. I hate making mistakes like this, though. Not only is the guy a longtime contributor, but he's an admin, for crying out loud. Honestly, this was the first I'd heard about it. In short, when I screw up, I do so in a spectacular fashion. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 16:07, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah... I reverted my comment once I saw he was an admin...
But trust me, there are so many crazy hotheads out there. You are a cool cat, and I am grateful for that.
This is my new "Cool Editor's Creed":
"I will always assume good faith and be civil at all times. I will NOT attack my fellow editors or disrupt Wikipedia to make a point."
Vicenarian (T · C) 16:09, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Not to worry. I didn't know he was an admin either, but it seems it's all worked out. Kinda funny in a way. I've deleted substubs by established users before without knowing their background (my bad), but never an admin before now. This one's going in my baby book.  :))--PMDrive1061 (talk) 16:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I STILL firmly believe in my essay. I really think if you create an article, it should at LEAST be a good stub - it will be immediately scrutinized and rightly so. But that's just me... and I don't think they'll be handing me the mop and bucket for quite some time. :) Vicenarian (T · C) 16:18, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Double not to worry. When you feel you're ready, I'll nominate you. You've come a long way in a remarkably short time. This site is in desperate need of more editors like you who actually come here, establish themselves and get to work doing great things. Of course, I could insert a joke about users obsessed with mid-70s Disney animated fare, but that would spoil the whole warm and fuzzy thing. Seriously, thanks for the support. Keep up the good work. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 16:30, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, that means a lot! Yeah, I definitely want to get more experience in all areas, and contribute more to articles before I go up for admin. Also, I should be registered for more than a few weeks, LOL. Vicenarian (T · C) 16:56, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I-TEC Deletion

Thanks for speedy-deleting the article I was working on last week (ironic, thanking for a delete?), as the new draft is way better, in my opinion. The draft is at livingdust and I'd love some last-minute pointers and suggestions before I put it out as a full article. Livingdust (talk) 17:59, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I-TEC Help

{{helpme}} The organization infobox for I-TEC has the this - [[Image:|200px]] - tag above the logo that I can't seem to get rid of, no matter what I do. Can anybody help, please? Vicenarian (T · C) 20:47, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Done, if you wish to add a caption (as you had placed it in a thumb), use the "| caption =" parameter. Kind Regards, blurredpeace 20:53, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks!! Vicenarian (T · C) 20:54, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

ACC Interface Access

I have requested ACC interface access in order to help approve usernames for those who are unable to create their own. I am adding this message to my talk page in compliance with the access registration instructions. I have requested access under the username Vicenarian. Thank you. Vicenarian (T · C) 21:16, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your application. I am pleased to inform you that it has been approved. Please read the guide. At the start, you will be limited to creating 6 accounts per day and won't be able to create an account with a name similar to that of an existing user, but if you find yourself hitting that limit regularly, please request the accountcreator permission at WP:RPE. AfD nomination of Terese Svoboda

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Terese Svoboda. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Terese Svoboda. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:17, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

NPA

FYI - you did the same thing I did... ;) User_talk:7#NPA_warning_for_Oxana879    7   talk Δ |   06:42, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Haha, yeah, I saw that personally-worded comment, but I really wanted to use a formal "warning" template - not to be punitive, but so that my fellow Huggle-using guardians would on be alert in case of future suspicious activity. (Having a warning template used on you means your edits are more likely to appear at the top of the Huggle filter for a time, so are more likely to be carefully scrutinized.) Normally, I don't get involved like that, but the comment was really just unacceptable. If you take a look at Oxana's talk page history, you'll note I gave her a final warning at first - but realized I was just overreacting to an insult against a Wikifriend and rolled it back. Anyway, I hope she learns from the experience and becomes a productive - and civil - contributor. Vicenarian (T · C) 11:13, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Planet of the Dead GA failure

I think you misunderstand the stability criterion. The stability criteria of GA and FA, in practice, do not apply to the removal of content that unquestionably fails our content policies. If it did, then Partners in Crime (Doctor Who), The Fires of Pompeii, and Planet of the Ood would not have been promoted when they were, and Barack Obama would not be a featured article either. Sceptre (talk) 13:34, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

I've noticed that there is some disagreement as to how this criterion is applied (in my limited time as a reviewer, admittedly). I agree that reversion of edits that are clear vandalism should not count - but reversion caused by disagreements over whether good faith content conforms with our content policies is another matter. Though the content added is lacking a source and may be original research, I believe the matter should have been discussed on the talk page rather than repeatedly removed through multiple reversions.
This is, of course, in my opinion only; you are welcome to seek a reassessment of the article - in fact, I would encourage you to do so, so as to get community comment on the "stability" criterion issue. If the consensus is that I apply the criterion incorrectly, then I will certainly change how I apply it in my future reviews.
Regards, Vicenarian (T · C) 14:12, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, speculation about the person who is knocking being the Master is not only unsourced, it's actually been refuted by the production team. And continuity sections are a known problem to the WikiProject (Doctor Who) which we are trying to cut down on to just basic verifiable facts that cannot be moved anywhere else. Sceptre (talk) 15:13, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm with you. The stability criterion has always seemed problematic to me, and there's a lot of different ways I've seen it applied. I would not be offended in the least if you requested a reassessment. Vicenarian (T · C) 15:19, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Oh, jeez.

Everyone's a freaking comedian, here.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 16:57, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Hahaha, I just had to put up a WP:WQA because of a rather nasty personal attack here on my talk page. See the diff, it's quite lovely. So, needed a little humor to lighten the mood. :) Vicenarian (T · C) 17:00, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Ha! Cactusjump (talk) 17:04, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Welcome to the insanity. I spent an irretrievable thirty-minute chunk of my lifetime reverting and protecting these articles...twice. I put too high of a block on them, so I had to go back and reblock everything. It's a beautiful day, I'm indoors and I don't have to be at work until this afternoon. Therefore, I am about to grab a model airplane, a backup jug of fuel (I'm out of the stuff I normally use which limits my choice of models), transmitter and field box and do some radio controlled aerobatics. Ah, peace and quiet punctuated only by the pleasant buzz of a .46 two-stroke. Off to the wild blue yonder, lads! --PMDrive1061 (talk) 17:12, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Lucky you! It's a rainy day here, I'm stuck inside at work (where I have way too much free time, hence being on Wikipedia constantly) and I forgot my umbrella. Enjoy the flight! Vicenarian (T · C) 17:15, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

You're right.

No more scary movies for you, young man! Besides, didn't anyone tell you about the tribunal of users who wear funny pointy hats? Ooh, you're in trouble now. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:17, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

ACC

There are reasons why the reservation system is in place, bypassing this without discussing it with the person who has the hold is considered bad behavior. Contact another Tool admin to be reinstated. Q T C 03:48, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

My apologies, I saw that those reservations had been open for a while... I thought if there were open reservations for long periods of time, it was okay to close them out. I know now that it is considered bad behavior to do so without contacting the person with the hold. Again, my sincere apologies for the misunderstanding. I'll contact another tool admin. Thank you. Vicenarian (T · C) 03:55, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

ACC Interface Access Suspension

I was suspended from the ACC interface for bypassing the reservation system, closing reserved requests by others without discussing it with the person who has the hold. I was unaware this was considered considered bad behavior in the cases in question - the reservations were several hours old, and the requests relatively simple, so I thought it would be okay to close them out behalf of the other users. One user had created the account but simply forgot to close the out request. I now understand that this is not considered acceptable and will refrain from such behavior in the future. I would like to request reinstatement of my access to the tool. My sincere apologies, and thank you for your understanding. Vicenarian (T · C) 04:03, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

OK, done. But be aware that your actions on the system will attract more attention now. Stifle (talk) 08:27, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

People may start to think that we are the same person...

First, I get rollback - then you get rollback. Then, I request an account on the ACC -- then you request an account on the ACC. Next, I request account creator permission -- then you request account creator permission. Finally, I get suspended (then reinstated) on the ACC.. ah, you get the picture. :-) I'm thinking about getting blocked, next.. t'shael mindmeld 08:36, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Okay, but if we get blocked, it's got to be for a GOOD reason... hmmm... *scheming* Vicenarian (T · C) 13:38, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Like nominating WP:RFA for speedy deletion? -t'shael mindmeld 13:40, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
I like the way you think! :-D Vicenarian (T · C) 13:41, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
(ec) Or opposing every RfA with "too many administrators currently"? -t'shael mindmeld 13:43, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

(unindent) See, the thing about this place, as I see it, is that no matter how good you try to be, no matter how hard you try to stay on the straight and narrow, you inevitably will step on SOMEONE'S toes, entirely by accident, and suddenly, it becomes a BFD. Reading over some of the discussions I see out there, even between experienced editors... I think a good rereading of WP:CIVL and WP:AGF is warranted on the part of many. Vicenarian (T · C) 13:51, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Hah. If you create that essay, I'll give you a barnstar. ;) -t'shael mindmeld 13:53, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Hahaha, I would, except I'm pretty sure it would show up at MfD before I could finish it... Vicenarian (T · C) 13:56, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
You're probably right. Don't let this whole situation get you down, though. Just brush it off and keep on going. :) And if you need a good laugh, look at this block by J.delanoy. -t'shael mindmeld 13:59, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I'll keep on going. I've had worse Wikiencounters. (Look in my talk archives for a somewhat heated, but pleasantly resolved, discussion I had with an admin with a canine name.) Trust me, I will continue to log on to ACC, I will touch only unreserved requests, I will research them very carefully and I will make the call I feel is right. And that block is pretty darn funny. :) Vicenarian (T · C) 14:04, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

(outdent) Thanks for the headsup. Now I shall log on to ACC and reserve every request that I can, effectively preventing you from ever creating another account. ;) -t'shael mindmeld 14:06, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Oh, you are cruising for a WP:WQA, my friend! :-D Vicenarian (T · C) 14:12, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
