Persondata[edit]

You recently modified the persondata for Ruth Shipley and John F. Melby, identifying each as a politician. Neither was ever a politician. One was a civil servant and the other a diplomat. I've corrected both. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 16:59, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

English cricketers[edit]

Hi. You've been adding "English cricketer" to a lot of persondata and I'm sure most of them are correct. But in the 30 or so cricketers that I have on my watchlist, you've swept up one Welshman and one Irishman, and one chap who was editor of the Daily Mirror (and just happened to play a few cricket matches when he was young) also got tagged as a cricketer only, when his journalism is probably a greater claim to fame (also an England rugby union star who just happened to play a few cricket games). And those are just among the ones I watch. Not quite sure how you avoid this, but maybe a note at the cricket project might be in order? Johnlp (talk) 17:16, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Swedish footballers to persondata description[edit]

Hello. You seem to have added this description to many footballers, e.g. Richard Kingson, Yazid Kaïssi, Yamba Asha, who have at some point in their career played football in Sweden (among other countries) but who are not Swedish. Perhaps you might go back and correct the mistaken ones. thanks, Struway2 (talk) 15:32, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In recent edits, you claimed that several LDS Church Presidents also could be described as politicians. But you provided no verification for these claims. No citations[edit]

Sorry to trouble you, but you say that the article on Jonathan Sayeed "includes a list of references, related reading or external links, but its sources remain unclear because it lacks inline citations. Please improve this article by introducing more precise citations." This does not appear to be true. There are two places where additional citations could usefully be added (you can find these as they are marked with "citation needed" tags). Please could you remove the template.--Toddy1 (talk) 10:30, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I have changed most if not all of the bishop articles, the judge was a one off and as for the politician, well he was indeed Scottish but as an MEP would have been classed as British so I don't see that as wrong (however much I would like to see your Scotland and my Wales as independent countries you are not there yet so it is not incorrect to call him British). Waacstats (talk) 21:18, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Although it is hard to know what to make of this edit. For future reference, WP:VERIFY is your friend, as well as being official Wikipedia policy. So, if Sean Connery is routinely referred to as Scottish in reliable external sources, then Wikipedia refers to him as Scottish. In addition, with the biographies of living people, self-identification is also taken into account. As you know, there are fuzzy areas: eg Jim Murphy strongly identifies with both Scottish and British, and is on the public record as saying so. However, it is worth noting that the descriptor he applies to himself every time he selects re-election is "Scottish Labour", not "British Labour". Anyway, I digress. In future, please take note of how the Wikipedia article intro refers to the person in question, or at least please note the categories they are located in. I would strongly advise that you take English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh categories one at a time, and not in one huge lump. --Mais oui! (talk) 04:50, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure why you have added the short description "English politician" to this article. Kate Westbrook is not involved in politics. Please refrain from editing Irish politicians under the term British politicians. Thank you. Osioni (talk) 09:14, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I apologise if I caught any Irish politicians, however I believe everyone I have tagged recently served in the Parliment of the United Kingdom and therefore could correctly be called "British", If I am wrong then I am sorry. Waacstats (talk) 09:18, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Further to the above: I see that you have labelled several people as British politicians, who were not career politicians: they made their names in some other field, and only became MPs late in life. For example, Daniel Gooch and Richard Peacock were both railway engineers - one designed the majority of locomotives for the Great Western Railway, the other co-founded the engineering firm of Beyer, Peacock and Company. Then there is Walter Coffin - a coal owner who in five years as an MP never spoke in the House. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:43, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for reply. I've actually already done it - been through most of the bios and corrected the lede lines (including inserting middle names for some of the ledes per WP:FULLNAME which naturally don't go into title). I moved 6 myself: Adrián Paz Velázquez María de los Ángeles Ortíz Jón Halldórsson (athlete) Britta Jänicke Andreas Müller (athlete) Matthias Schröder, these 6 because there were complications with disambiguation, merging duplicates or very different names. ‎
The remaining ones that are at non-native spelling are Reinhold Boetzel, Oduver Daza, Jose Monteiro (athlete), Anibal Bello Jose Villarreal Sebastian Baldassarri Ariadne Hernandez Salvador Hernandez Mario Santillan Maria Salas, Lucia Sosa, Nicolas Ledezma Mauro Maximo de Jesus Jesus Lucero Moises Beristain Angeles Ortiz Ettiam Calderon Lazaro Raschid Aguilar Adrian Iznaga Angel Jimenez Ana Jimenez Luis Felipe Gutierrez Leonardo Diaz (Paralympian) Fernando Gonzalez (athlete) Antonio Souza Joerg Frischmann Diosmani Gonzalez. I thought seeing as these weren't complicated title changes I would just add to lede line, source refs, and alert the articles' creator. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:10, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ANI[edit]

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.

The article Keshav Dev Temple has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There has been a {{notability}} tag on this article for the past three years, and the issue has yet to be resolved.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 06:15, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

I was wondering whether wikipedia could make new additions for each user statistics, so that, for example, each user can see his own contribution to wikipedia (so that he can have a clue about how many bytes he added for all his articles and how many bytes he erased for all the articles). Also, it would be interesting for him to know how many people consulted the articles created by him (for each month) Could something be done about this? Getting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games[edit]

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success.
