153.215.36.143

Widr you blocked 153.215.36.143 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) as a zombie proxy. 101.109.206.201 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) has been quickly reverting their edits in a bot-like manner. While it's true they have been reverting vandalism, I think both these IP's are proxies edit warring with each other, but I'm not sure why this keeps happening. Sro23 (talk) 00:17, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Quite possible. I recently blocked another IP reverting proxy edits in a similar fashion, but they made an unblock request soon after. It's confusing. Widr (talk) 00:28, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

I have a Question

Hello, nice to meet you, I reverted Vandalism in many tropical cyclone articles, but I have a question: are most of the Vandals from India? Abdullah Almarri - A.W.S.T. (talk) 12:41, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

User:Tiranosaurus Rex

Hi, Widr! You blocked this editor for vandalism. His userpage needs to be either blanked or deleted, since it is simply promoting himself. Do you favor blanking or deletion? Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 21:51, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

I deleted it. It was indeed purely promotional. Widr (talk) 21:58, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks! --MelanieN (talk) 22:11, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for helping. Was wondering if I need to go and tag every one of the creations as G5 (they're all recreations of previous g5'd articles) or if there is a way to request a mass delete? Chrissymad ❯❯❯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All deleted now. Widr (talk) 23:08, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

PA

Personally I would have made that a hard block (all users) in order to flush out the registered user who is behind it, or even email a CU. It was a very nasty piece of PA. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:58, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

Your reverting my edit in the Copenhagen Airport article

You have reverted my changing of 2015 data to the "to be confirmed" in the Statistics box, back to 2015 data - why, when the box ckearky indicate that statistics are 2016 data but we are waiting for confirmed data of intl, domestic pax, as well as aircraft movements. My edit is NOT vandalism.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.108.161.75 (talkcontribs) 09:25, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

IP 108.35.241.190

Moi! An IP vandal 108.35.241.190 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) you blocked about a week ago is back, and is once again causing disruption. Looks like some sort of long-term abuser to me. Examples of IP users who have made similar edits:

Actually the last two have not been active since December, but you'll get the picture. The last one you actually blocked shortly in September. Politrukki (talk) 11:09, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

These are staleish now, and the first one hasn't received any warnings since the previous block (also, most of their edits have not been reverted). It's best to report to AIV when they are active and properly warned. Widr (talk) 11:42, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

Formatting issues under John Hill(TeamJohnHill)'s AfD

Just to inform you that you may have left out a closing tag in the formatting of the archival of the AfD for John Hill(TeamJohnHill), leading to weird formatting on the regular AfD listing for today. The Admin's Barnstar
Well everyone says, "Pick on the little guy," right? Well, being Wikipedia's newest admin (at least until Ealdgyth), I thought I'd go to WP:AIV, the place I had always wanted to work at, and block some vandals, right? Except you, good sir, kept stealing my blocks. I am starting to wonder if you are a robot and not a human. Until I have substantial evidence to block you as an unapproved admin bot, please accept this barnstar and keep blocking those vandals until the gears in you grind to a halt. (No seriously, out of all the jokes in here, I don't mind having my blocks stolen from me as a newbie to the mop corps. Also, on IRC, we do like to call you "Bot Widr" because of your speed and endurance.) —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 22:31, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
Congratulations you little guy, and welcome to the team! Well, I'm fast because I don't hang around on IRC... Besides, you have already beaten me, at least once. And that really hurt. ;-) Widr (talk) 22:47, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

Message: Howdy, they have been monkeying about but the final edit, to the head teacher, was in fact correct and I have replaced it with a source. In the circumstances, since the end result is a more accurate article, I think that a stern warning rather than an indef block seems appropriate. Are you OK with this?

Notes:

  • If you do not have an account on UTRS, you may create one at the administrator registration interface.
  • Alternatively, you can respond here and indicate whether you are supportive or opposed to an unblock for this user and your rationale, if applicable.

--UTRSBot (talk) 01:21, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I have just noticed that you don't have UTRS access. The appeal was by User:iceage02 who said "i changed the school page due to the head teacher leaving and a new one coming in i changed the name to the new one then i was blocked". Just Chilling (talk) 01:32, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
Considering that this account continued from where the previous one had just left off, it's a bit hard to AGF, but sure, you can unblock if you see fit. Widr (talk) 12:07, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
Ah!! I had missed the previous account, thanks for pointing it up. In the circumstances I am maintaining the block but they have the option of taking their case to their talk page if they so wish. Just Chilling (talk) 00:20, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

About SuperTailsX

User talk:Eimukas22

I see you blocked this user. The edits by "User:217.147.38.35" are very similar (I'm no expert on sockpuppets). Should I leave this with you, or open a case at SPI? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 13:13, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

The IP hasn't edited since November, so there's no reason to block it now. SPI would be useless as well. If more disruption occurs, you can make another report to AIV. Widr (talk) 13:17, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Faheem813

Hi, Widr! Looking for some anti-vandalism advice... Faheem813 (contribs:[1]) appears to be an account devoted to replacing "official links" and legit sources to promotional sites. I found one edit today, then followed their contribs to see that's pretty much all they do. They do a few, disappear for a few weeks, then come back. Today is the first time they've received a warning. They did make this edit [2] after being warned today. Is this track record enough for a block? Or do we have to wait for them to be more active? Thanks as always . . . Chris vLS (talk) 22:08, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Since they haven't edited after the warnings you left, I won't block them yet. Let me know (or report to AIV) if they continue. Widr (talk) 07:38, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
Oh, of course, if they haven't edited after the warning... I thought they had. Thanks as always! Chris vLS (talk) 18:31, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Your block of User:Repentant Sinner

Hi there. I noticed you blocked this user for abusing multiple accounts. In future, could you please elaborate when blocking such users (for example by linking to the SPI case) and/or use the {{sockpuppet}} template on their userpage? It would make it easier for the rest of us to understand your actions. For example, in this case someone tagged a page created by this user as G5 and without knowing when they were first blocked, other admins can't determine whether G5 applies. Regards SoWhy 10:24, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Blocks such as this result from AIV reports, and it's often unclear who the "master" is or if there is SPI case page somewhere, even though the use of multiple accounts is obvious. If users tag pages for deletion, they are probably best ones to provide you with more information. I usually avoid tagging sock talk pages; too many of them enjoy such recognition. Is a range block possible

Hello Widr. Thank you for blocking User:2600:8800:4487:AA00:215C:4E41:2E71:5E5A. I've noticed quite a few IPs with a similar address, making similar edits (adding unsourced information about WWE events), that have been blocked for adding unsourced information. I was wondering if a range block was possible. The other IPs are in this box:

Extended content

. Thank you for your assistance. Silverfish (talk) 20:07, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

I don't do range blocks myself, but many others do (pinging Zzuuzz, KrakatoaKatie and DoRD). Maybe one of them could help you. Widr (talk) 20:25, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) There are a lot more in the same /64 range, see [3] (If you can't read this list, please see Template:IP range calculator.) Clearly all the same person. I've blocked the range 2600:8800:4487:AA00::/64 for a month (same time as your block of 2600:8800:4487:AA00:215C:4E41:2E71:5E5A, Widr). Bishonen | talk 20:31, 15 January 2017 (UTC).
Yep, what Bishonen said. Widr, I've unblocked the single addresses from the range, but I note that two of them were blocked for three months, so please feel free to extend the rangeblock if you think it's necessary. The /64 is assigned to one Cox customer, so you don't have to worry about any collateral damage. —DoRD (talk) 20:42, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks to you both! I'm just staying away from range blocks, it's safer that way. Widr (talk) 20:49, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

I just accepted a pending change at this article by [[Dolphins2020>]] but only afterwards noticed Escrial had just removed edits made by ScottStone20 and ScottStone2020, and then that you had blocked the former. User:37.14.231.20

Widr, you blocked User:37.14.231.20 on January 9 for disruptive editing, primarily changing common names to long form names where unnecessary. The user has continued such changes since the block expired. Most are innocuous in that they weren't incorrect nor broke links. However, this series of edits to Dutch Brazil did introduce major errors and broken links, which I had to revert manually due to subsequent edits. I'd appreciate you taking a look at the user's edits again. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 22:38, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Hello Widr. Thank you for the recent block of Quwaldom (an obvious sockpuppet of blocked IP 223.104.64.67 as noted on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/223.104.64.67). Given how the album pages this user disrupted have a long history of IPs and new accounts inserting factual inaccuracies, would you mind please indefinitely semi-protecting Prism (Katy Perry album), Teenage Dream (Katy Perry album), and One of the Boys (Katy Perry album)?
