Talk page revocation request

User:Aschlafl is abusing her talkpage. 99.53.112.186 (talk) 15:54, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for blocking User:46.99.126.68 yesterday, but it seems he's back with a new IP at User:46.99.26.108. Any chance you could help out with that one too? – PeeJay 10:32, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Seems like he's back at User:46.99.105.94. – PeeJay 12:37, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

207.126.210.161

Hello again Widr. This IP address you just blocked appears to be from a Texas public library. I know that for schools we commonly put a related template at the talk page top and sometimes longer blocks are in order while allowing account creation, but I'm not sure if the same applies here (I assume that vandalism from schools is more rampant). The library would apparently use the CIDR range 207.126.208.0/20. Thanks, —PaleoNeonate - 19:19, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

Since the IP has only been editing today, 31 hours should be sufficient for now. You can place the template on the talk page if you wish. Widr (talk) 19:22, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. I hoped that you would tell me which template to use then, but I just searched and I think I found a general shared-template that will suit. —PaleoNeonate - 19:32, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

180.151.195.234

Hi, I'm a bit puzzled as to why you blocked 180.151.195.234 (talk · contribs). The last time they were blocked was in January (for one month), and have only made 1 edit/been warned once since. I'm new to adminship, so am I missing anything? Cheers, Anarchyte (work | talk) 04:47, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

History of vandalism and first edit since the block was vandalism. I don't think it benefits the encyclopedia to wait for more before blocking again. Widr (talk) 04:53, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the block. Something happened and it didn't 'click', or maybe I didn't click it. Cheers. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:10, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Widr, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:

  • Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
  • The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:

IP 120.150.84.85

You just blocked this, and I have a question. When I look in the edit filter log, I see numerous accounts being used from that IP on today's date. I have been blocking the others as socks. My first time encountering this situation. Am I correct that these are socks appearing on the edit filter log? — Maile (talk) 12:49, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

Never mind. Got the answer at SPI, and have unblocked where I did so erroneously. — Maile (talk) 13:49, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

Persistent addition of unsourced content etc

Hello Widr, could you please take a look at User:Marek Cieslik, contributions? He continues too add unsourced content after a final warning etc: [1]. Thank you JimRenge (talk) 15:18, 27 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for this. Doesn't it ever get you down? I have worrying moments of wondering what we are all doing here ... :( Best wishes DBaK (talk) 20:49, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Blocked user

Hi, thank you for blocking 2001:8003:5354:7000:CC94:A97D:CDD3:C9A5. There has been three different IP addresses lately that have been acting those pages. This user now seems to be clearing their user page so the warnings and block message aren’t there. Do you think they should be blocked from editing their user page as well? Let it be, they are free to blank it if they wish. Widr (talk) 14:01, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Re: Juiianpe sockpuppet

Just to let you know that JuiianPe has also been editing under the IP 47.136.93.213 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). They have been making the exact same edits, which should be enough to block per WP:DUCK. —Farix (t | c) 19:51, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Archive Talk Page

Hi There,

I am having trouble with archiving my talk page due to it getting too big. I wondered if you would be able to help me out? Many Thanks, Telfordbuck (talk) 00:33, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

See Help:Archiving a talk page, there are different options. Widr (talk) 20:34, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Question about recent block

Hi Widr, where is the block evasion from 188.29.164.172 (talk · contribs · WHOIS)? I cannot understand why this anonymous user was blocked—was this a mistake or am I missing something? Malinaccier (talk) 21:35, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

See the revision history of Loretto School and the two blocked accounts. Widr (talk) 21:50, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
Got it. I asked because it looks like the last two edits were good, though the IP was clearly used in the case you referenced. If you think this is the best action to prevent disruption, I will defer to your block despite the most recent edits. Malinaccier (talk) 22:01, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Your help

You have been very helpful in the past assisting with the many rap music editors I have brought to AIV. I tagged a music editor's talk page with a few "unsourced content" warnings, the last one on June 12th. The editor, Horizonlove, didn't like that, and posted a notice on their talk page targeting me. I've been trying to get the notice removed, and brought it to ANI here. I could care less about editing their talk page again. I just want the notice targeting me removed. If you are able to assist I would appreciate it. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:16, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Thank you

Hi Widr, I just wanted to say thanks because I don't think that I do it enough. You're work helping with WP:AIV is appreciated, so thank you. Sro23 (talk) 04:58, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

You may wish to revoke talk page access as well.--Cahk (talk) 08:05, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi Widr, you have recently blocked User:AllahuAkbar321 and his second account. I am requesting that you block the article Maharana Pratap from very new editors due to the vandalism caused by this editor. Thanks. TheNewSMG (talk) 08:25, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

You may wish to revoke talk page access, see also [2] for similar. —72 talk 16:37, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

Advice

Hi, I noticed you removed the two users that I reported. These are definitely some sockpuppeting and using other people's identities. If it is unactionable, can you advise me on what I can do to stop so many disruptive and unproductive edits? Thanks! Smirkybec (talk) 20:10, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

If you suspect that they are socking, you can take it to WP:SPI. Widr (talk) 20:15, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
Thank you! Really appreciate that :) Smirkybec (talk) 20:19, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

Bone Crusher (rapper)

Just so you know, the vandal made one last bad edit on Bone Crusher (rapper) before Deb protected it. 99.53.112.186 (talk) 14:45, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

IP return

Hello Widr. Back in June you blocked 69.117.44.133 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) for disruptive editing. They were later blocked two more times. They have returned as 67.86.57.216 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) to make the same edits. The incorrect adding of navboxes and the removal of pronunciation templates are consistent between the two IPs. Thanks for your time.

Done, obvious evasion. Widr (talk) 20:42, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

Continued Vandalism

Hello, back in July you blocked User talk:104.57.183.127 for disruptive editing for a few days. Since his block has been lifted, he's been continuing vandalizing the same pages he's been vandalizing before, as seen here. He also may be going under another anonymous IP tag, 2602:306:839B:77F0:648B:9CC3:86BD:26ED, the edits are consistent & similar with each other. Perhaps it's time for a permanent block? A vandal you blocked

A vandal you blocked, User:Yetigod, actually streamed his vandalism live on Twitch the entire time he was doing it. This is the first time I'd ever seen this sort of thing, and found it interesting. What is your opinion on this? Philmonte101 😊😄😞 (talk) 02:41, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

He seemed to keep referring to reverts or talk page messages as "being denied" ("they keep denying me"), and also didn't seem to know what he was doing at all, hence the extremely long periods of time looking up pages on "how to create pages" etc. I found it interesting because it's like you get to see a vandal on the other side of the screen. What do they really think about while they're doing this? The answer is right on that link. Philmonte101 😊😄😞 (talk) 02:48, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
  • Third Party Comment - it's kind of eerie that people would go through the trouble of doing that! Were there people viewing the stream? The closest I've seen was a Reddit thread discussing ways to vandalize a certain article. Frankly that made me uncomfortable. But I guess it does give you insight into the vandals... often I wonder WHY go through the trouble if it will just be reverted, but I guess they don't know or don't care. Anyway, sorry for intruding! ‡ Єl Cid of ᐺalencia ᐐT₳LKᐬ 14:19, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
  • Another Third Party Comment

Damn that's strange. And the first time I've ever seen something like it. I agree with @El cid, el campeador: that is eerie and seriously not the best idea. All the trouble just to vandalize a page(s) when you could just help improve. ♠Dinah♠ 🎤 14:28, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

MariaJaydHicky socks

Hi Widr, since you've blocked a few socks of MariaJaydHicky, I've found two more: Bernisha and Jameelacat (not linking to their user pages, as they would be notified). Same targets (in this case, Who You Are (Jessie J album)) and behaviour, including restoring genres with AllMusic references, which is not considered a reliable source per WP:ALBUMAVOID (and they have been told this before). Registered to restore genres that an IP from an IP range well known to be frequented by MariaJaydHicky, 82.xxx.xxx.xxx, had restored and was reverted for. Jameelacat apparently only registed to revert a user who had reverted one of the 82. IP's edits. Ss112 02:23, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Webhost

Hello. A closer check (after your block) showed that "PE Skurykhin Mukola Volodumurovuch", the owner of the Ukrainian IP you just blocked for vandalism, is a webhost provider, so 31.131.24.0/24 ought to be blocked as a proxy, to prevent further abuse. - Tom | Thomas.W talk 12:21, 16 August 2017 (UTC)

Question

About the IP you block for infiltrating the numbers of awards like this one at List of awards and nominations received by Nicki Minaj, there's a user named "2jbk 44" that is now doing the same thing like the IP does. Could this be possible that it's a block evasion? Raritydash (talk) 01:21, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Hadriensaori

Just letting you know in case you missed it on wP:ANV, that Hadriensaori, the editor you blocked two days for 31 hours for disruptive editing, resumed the behaviour by edit warring on Melodrama (Lorde album). They posted an attack on my user page, calling me a "Hitlerian" for reverting them. Not sure they really learned their lesson after the first block. Ss112 18:26, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Donetsk and Luhansk are a pair. What happens at one happens at the other. I applaud your protection at Luhansk, but it needs to happen at Donetsk as well. When the vandals/trolls/IP hoppers hit one, they almost always attack the other as well. They are tied together at the hip. --Taivo (talk) 00:26, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
