Red Dead Redemption 2[edit]

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an action-adventure game developed and published by Rockstar Games. It was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, and for Microsoft Windows and Stadia in November 2019. The game is the third entry in the Red Dead series and is a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption. The story is set in 1899 and follows outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang, who must deal with the decline of the Wild West while meeting a wide cast of characters. The game, which had an eight-year development, features music by Woody Jackson and Daniel Lanois, including the original song "Unshaken" by D'Angelo. Following its release, the game received critical acclaim, earning numerous year-end accolades. The online multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, was released as a beta version in November 2018 before a full release in May 2019.

This proposed topic covers the video game Red Dead Redemption 2 and its subtopics, covering the awards, characters (including the protagonist), development, music (including an original song), and multiplayer mode. I started working on these around May last year, slowly making edits offline until publishing them in October. We now have two FLs and six GAs, and I believe the topic effectively meets the criteria for a good topic. Special thanks to the editors who reviewed the GA nominations—@Leonidas1206, Cognissonance, CR4ZE, MarioSoulTruthFan, and Sjones23 (×2)—and the many editors who took the time to leave comments on the FLCs. And a very special thank you to the editors who worked on the content before me, specifically VerumRex for Arthur Morgan and Aria1561 for "Unshaken". --– Rhain 02:15, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support: An interesting and well-connected topic that meets WP:GT?CR4ZE (tc) 07:26, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support with a comment: I'd say the topic would actually be complete without Arthur Morgan (Red Dead) or "Unshaken", since they're covered by the broader articles you've got them indented beneath ("Characters" and "Music"). If you include Morgan and Unshaken in the topic, be aware that you're expanding the scope of the topic to include articles about the game's characters and songs, so the topic is only then complete if Morgan is the only character in the game notable enough to potentially have an article written about him, and if "Unshaken" is the only piece from the soundtrack notable enough to have its own article. Otherwise, the topic would then fail criterion 1(d) (cherry-picking), and it would have to be demoted if anyone actually created an article about, say, another character in the game (below GA quality). I'm not familiar with the game or the critical response to it, so I don't feel that I'm in a position to assess whether there are any other notable characters or songs in the game, but I recommend removing those two from the topic proposal. -Bryan Rutherford (talk) 13:15, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bryanrutherford0: Appreciate the support and comment. I can confidently say that Arthur is the only original character from the game notable enough for a separate article, and any attempts to create articles on other characters would likely be merged back into the parent article anyway. The same applies for "Unshaken", which is the only single on the game's two soundtracks, and easily the one that received the most mainstream attention due to the artist. All of the songs are fantastic, but no others are notable enough outside of the game's soundtrack. Hope that makes sense, but I understand if you still feel that they should be removed. – Rhain 23:54, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. I'm AGF and supporting. -Bryan Rutherford (talk) 23:57, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
An interesting observation there, Bryanrutherford0. Hate to do this, but I have to wonder if John Marston could be considered within the scope of this topic—I'm not saying that he his, but I thought it was worth mentioning... — CR4ZE (tc) 03:16, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@CR4ZE: It's definitely a fair question. John is part of the (former) featured topic on the first game, which I think is more appropriate (and is why I didn't include him here). – Rhain 03:23, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Again, I'm not familiar with the game and can't assess whether he belongs here or not. It's certainly fine for an article to be part of more than one GT. That article looks like it's in pretty good shape, and there's a backlog elimination drive on at WP:GAN at the moment; it probably wouldn't be too much trouble to get that one to GA and then add it here. -Bryan Rutherford (talk) 12:42, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be safe to say that we could move to a consensus that John Marston be included in this topic? If so, as Bryan has already noted above, the condition of that article is pleasing and I can see that you've already conducted a pretty extensive copy-edit (perhaps a precursory move for a pending GAN?). If there is consensus to include John Marston, I'm very happy to retain my !support with the provision that the article reaches GA. I don't see that process being particularly onerous, no less if it's in your capable hands, or holding up this GTC too much. I'm sure the delegates would be happy to hold this candidate open for a little bit until that article reached GA. Thoughts, anyone? — CR4ZE (tc) 17:53, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was skeptical on whether or not the article's existence could be justified, but after some more expansion, I think it's in a pretty reasonable state. I've nominated it for GA. Hopefully it can undergo a full review without severely interrupting this candidacy. – Rhain 18:06, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it should disrupt this candidacy; I'd be concerned if the consensus was to include the article and it was in bad shape, but it isn't. I do think it's within the scope of this topic as John is a fairly central character in RDR2's narrative and—without spoiling—you do play him at a certain stage. I'd offer to take that GAN immediately but I've got a busy week ahead and I'm working on an article already. If it's still hanging there by this weekend, please ping me and I'll gladly take it. (I promise I would tend to it promptly over the weekend! Hope you received my email apology about the Music GAN.)CR4ZE (tc) 18:26, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, worst-case scenario, somebody argues the article doesn't meet GNG, and then it's not included in this topic anyway. — CR4ZE (tc) 18:29, 4 May 2020 (UTC) [reply]
And, just to spell it out for any other reviewers, Marston is now a GA. -Bryan Rutherford (talk) 16:51, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • SupportWeak Oppose for now - I do not see a template for this topic at all, there is one for the general game series but not this one. Also the question asked above was never answered. For RD2 are there other characters or music that is notable for an article, but just has not been written yet? completeness doesn't just mean "all articles written" but "all articles possible. MPJ-DK (talk) 21:35, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MPJ-DK: There is now a category for the game. I'm not sure why your comment seems to suggest that I ignored the question above by "never answer[ing]" it, but to assuage your concerns, I am confident that there are no other original characters or music notable enough for a separate article. I'm well aware of the GT criteria, and I firmly believe that this topic meets it. – Rhain 23:54, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Rhain - Well considering you did not actually answer it until after I posted my comment that may go some way to explaining why I suggested it was not answered? My Delorian is low of fuel ;) And point to you on the category, supporting. MPJ-DK (talk) 00:44, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, next time I'll make sure I wake up in the middle of the night to answer a question in the eight hours between your two comments instead of ignoring it. Appreciate the support. Rhain 00:55, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I would expect nothing less, oh and I'll try to remember what timestamps are for ;) MPJ-DK (talk) 01:10, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To the director/delegate: I have reviewed John Marston (Red Dead) as a GA and continue to !support this nomination. — CR4ZE (tc) 15:37, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Red Dead Redemption[edit]

Red Dead Redemption is an open world, western action-adventure video game. Set during the decline of the American Frontier in the year 1911, the game follows John Marston, a former outlaw whose wife and son are taken hostage by the government in ransom for his services as a hired gun. Having no other choice, Marston sets out to bring the three members of his former gang to justice. Rockstar Games developed and published the title for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms in May 2010.

Red Dead Redemption is displayed in a third-person perspective in an open world environment. The player interacts with the game world at their leisure and can travel the virtual world, a fictionalized version of the Western United States and Mexico, on foot but primarily by horseback. Gunfights emphasize a gunslinger, bullet time-style gameplay mechanic called "Dead Eye" in which players mark multiple shooting targets on enemies in slow motion. The game uses a morality system that judges the character's honor and fame by their in-game deeds. An online multiplayer mode lets up to 16 players engage in both co-operative and competitive gameplay in a recreation of the single-player setting.

Reviewers lauded Red Dead Redemption upon its release, with praise for its visuals, dynamically-generated music, voice acting, gameplay, and story. It has shipped over 14 million copies and won year-end accolades, including Game of the Year awards from several gaming publications. It is widely considered one of the greatest video games of all time. After the game's release, several downloadable content additions were released, including the standalone Undead Nightmare, which adds a new single-player experience in which Marston searches for a cure for an infectious zombie plague that has swept across the Old West. A Game of the Year Edition containing all additional content was released in October 2011.

This topic was promoted following a nomination by czar in 2016, but demoted earlier this year due to the creation of List of Red Dead Redemption characters and John Marston (Red Dead) in the meantime. With the deletion of the former and promotion of the latter, this topic now meets the good topic criteria once again. --– Rhain 02:28, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support with a comment: Same comment as with RDR 2: note that if you include John Marston (Red Dead), then you're defining the scope of the topic to include articles about the game's characters, so the topic is only then complete if Marston is the only character in the game notable enough to potentially have an article written about him. I'm not familiar with the game or the critical response to it, so I don't feel that I'm in a position to assess whether there are any other notable characters in the game, but I'm AGF and supporting. -Bryan Rutherford (talk) 03:33, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support as fully scoped. Per the demotion (linked above), I still hold that John Marston and the character list are non-notable. The commentary on the former is almost wholly discussed in the context of the game, not as external, independent impact. That's a matter for the article's talk page, though. Rhain has put in the work and due diligence for this complete FTC. (not watching, please {{ping}}) czar 04:56, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Czar: I would differ with you on John Marston. When I picked up the GA review, I did note the page's short length and I have to wonder if there's further commentary on the character's impact out there to develop upon. If you'd like to start a dialogue at the talk page, I'll jump in. — CR4ZE (TC) 15:50, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Talk:John Marston (Red Dead)#Potential merge but please don't let this hold up the nom czar 02:21, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Shouldn't hold up this GTN—if consensus moves in your favour, it would only be a matter of merging a GA into another GA. Can't see the scope of this topic being harmed. — CR4ZE (TC) 03:40, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

NWA World Historic Welterweight Champions[edit]

Was previouly a Good Topic, but was delisted on October 22, 2019 as I did not have the time to work on the Matt Taven artice to keep its status. I have finally gotten the Matt Taven artice to GA status and the topic is once again complete and I want to restore it to GT status. MPJ-DK (talk) 12:21, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Daft Punk studio albums[edit]

French electronic music duo Daft Punk has released four studio albums since its formation in 1993 by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo.

LLA Azteca Champions and challengers[edit]

The LLA Azteca Championship (Campeonato Azteca de LLA in Spanish) was a professional wrestling championship promoted by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and Lucha Libre Azteca (LLA) between 2009 and 2014. CMLL/LLA held an twelve-man tournament to determine the first champion all championship matches were held under Three-Way match where the champion faced two challengers at once.

Contributor(s): MPJ-DK

This professional wrestling championship existed from 2009 to 2014. The topic includes 1) All wrestlers to hold the championship, 2) all wrestlers to be involved in a championship match but did not win and 3) all participants in the inaugural tournament to determine the first champion and thus provides a complete topic. Since the championship is no longer being used the topic is stable with no possible additions necessary. MPJ-DK (talk) 12:41, 5 April 2020 (UTC) --MPJ-DK (talk) 12:41, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Support with comments: The summary article appears to me to say that Volador Jr. also held the title at one point; shouldn't he be in the list? Conversely, I don't see Carístico mentioned anywhere in the summary? Beyond that, looks like a solid and very thorough topic. -Bryan Rutherford (talk) 13:04, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Bryanrutherford0 Good catch on Volador Jr., yes he was champion and is GA level so I have added him to the group. As for Carístico, he worked under the name "Místico" at the time, so I changed the display name, and also clarified that there was actually a second Místico, and he was the one that won the championship. Games by Quantic Dream[edit]

Contributor(s): Cognissonance and Prhartcom

I have slowly been rewriting and building up Quantic Dream and their games into Good Articles since 2018 (all except for Beyond: Two Souls, which someone else did). Now that the final article has passed, I'm nominating this as my first Good Topic. I should note that I don't know how to make a "book". Cognissonance (talk) 19:34, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Support: I think this topic probably needs to have its scope reduced to "Games by Quantic Dream", since the nomination doesn't include any of the other articles linked in the company's navbox (Immortal (2004 film), David Cage, Guillaume de Fondaumière). I've created a category for all the Quantic Dream articles to share. -Bryan Rutherford (talk) 20:54, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
