Federico Mauro

Long, homework type question

This man is famous in the photography field. I cam here for additional information to see if he has passed away and so on but he is not listed and there is not much information out about him yet I need it for college :/ (I’m freaking out!) I have a litttttle information but I’m still bugging!!! xo upset decided to have myself mostly focus on “a famous shoe photographer” just to view if there were ever any jobs available, in this field. One of my personal reasons behind doing so, is because my older brother works in New York City at a store which sells name brand shoes. He always brought home purchased heals that were just simply ‘sample size’ {d}. Luckily, they fit my feet perfect and comfortably! After I did this search, Federico Mauro showed up right along with his page as well as information about him and his series being “Famous Hats, Famous Guns, Famous Eyeglasses, Famous Blades, Famous Food & Drinks “ and the last category 10 Most Famous Shoes By Federico Mauro”. I found information on him on the website http://www.themost10.com/famous-shoes-by-federico-mauro/. I also found a common quote that states something close to a quote located on his a webpage, being “They say you can’t really know a man until you walk a mile in his shoes”… yet it then continues on to state how he’s a famous “Italian Art Director & Multimedia Designer Federico Mauro has made it much simpler to do that by identifying the shoes that famous people wear. Using both celebrities and the characters they play, he pinpointed the shoes most commonly associated with each in a minimalist design. From Dorothy Gale’s elegant ruby red slippers to Jeff Lebowski’s Birkenstocks and Kurt Cobain’s Converse All Stars, Mauro searched the world wide web for the perfect fit. Check your pop culture expertise by seeing how many famous names you can recall by the shoes on their feet.” I’m not saying it is right to judge anyone by their shoes, because we never know the obstacles each person faces in one day! Instantly I decided to figure out plenty of more information about this man, where I noticed how, ever since 2001, he chose to become a professional multimedia designer and art director. Actually, to be precise, in the year 2004, he specifically chose to major in Communicational Science. The reason behind so, was due to him having an experimental dissertation from the topic being Horror cinema. While he was in his own years of college, he got in touch with an Italian movie director named, Ferzan Ozpetek. By working together, they established an important and solid collaboration, which overall, he personally took care of movies’ web communication. Without including his web designing experience, he committed to the production of realizations to many Videos, Photography and multimedia projects while also realizing showing short movies awarded in national competitions; random and spontaneously! Over the years he has increasingly been working on communicational projects, social media strategies, online media, viral and unconventional marketing for quite a few clients. Not that I honestly know them all, but here are the examples I found, Fandango, Rai Cinema, 01 Distribution, Nanni Moretti, Independet Ideas, Medusa, Mondadori, Alex Britti, Sandro Veronesi, R&C Produzioni, Richard Cocco Strings, Nastro Azzurro, and Einaudi. After he worked on this creation, he received different awards while his work has been reported on International Design portals including NewwebPick, Xhilarate, CoolHompeges, and Pixelmakers. Besides taking part in so, articles and mentions on his work have also been reported. They were especially found within plenty of well known International magazines, such as The Guardian, Wired, Web Design Index and on the most important Italian newspapers, being La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, Il Mattino, Il Sole 24 Ore, Il Giornale, SkyTg24, TgCom, Libero. Federico Mauro also teaches Web Design and Communication for professional formation courses for the EU at the Io-School. Not only did he take pictures for movie advertising, he had numbers of series which consisted of individual topics being shoes, hats, eyeglasses, guns, other utougtol*** that held meaning such as guitars for example blades as well as the combination between pistols and guns. Once he left his famous eyeglasses series impression, the Italian based designer Federico Mauro introduced us to his Famous Shoes collection. Since he had previous series, Mauro used recognizable eyewear from celebrities, and he used the same concept by using shoes instead. The collection sees shoes from fictional movie characters one through ten being Forrest Gump, Al Capone, Michael Jackson, Wonder Woman, Frankenstein, Beatrix Kiddo, then Dorothy Gale as seventh, eighth remains Steve Jobs, Clint Eastwood as ninth, and tenth or in last is Audrey Hepburn. Federico Mauro is a a professional multimedia designer and art director who is behind this fun project called ‘’Famous Shoes’’. Iconic shoes of famous people and beloved fictional characters showcased in a series of posters. pywikipediabott deletion of wikipedia listing for Michael T. Lynch (automotive)

I just noticed a listing for Michael T. Lynch was deleted from Wikipedia at 5:00 pm. on February 27, 2014 by a pywikipediabot named Kasper's bot. I believe this is a mistake and that Mr. Lynch's page should be reinstated. Mr. Lynch is considered one of the foremost experts, if not the foremost expert in the world on vintage race cars and vintage car racing. Okay, I see what the problem is. You're are looking for third-party articles about Mr. Lynch as opposed to articles written by him. I'll see if I can find some, but I somewhat disagree that the Wikipedia notability guidelines universally fits all fields. Check with any vintage race car dealer or enthusiast in the United States and you'll be made aware of Mr. Lynch's notability. Perhaps you can recommend on how I might proceed. Would it be appropriate for me to contact Mr. Lynch personally?... or would a testament from a wiki-recognized notable person from that field, ie. Carroll Shelby for instance. Android phone

Need help for editing a svg map

Hi all, I need help for editing File:Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Dioceses.svg which is derived from Derived from File:Hong Kong 18 Districts Blank Map.svg. Could any help me (or give me some hint on how to) erase the white lines within each colour? The white lines are boundaries of political districts of Hong Kong but not of ecclesiastical dioceses of Hong Kong, so I want each of the green, red and blue areas to be continuous. Yes. If you type the word antidisestablishmentarianismist into the search box at the top right hand corner of any page, you will get this result. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:01, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

However, if your search term is an article (or redirect) entering it in the search box in the upper right will bring you directly to the article, which is not what you want. For example, entering "foo" will bring you to Foobar.

If you want all articles containing the word "foo" first click on the magnifying glass in the search box, then you will be brought to a search page. Now enter "foo" and you should get a page with all instances of "foo".--S Philbrick(Talk) 19:51, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Blank or almost blank pages and G13

Dear editors: Because there are so many inexperienced editors who submit pages to AfC, we get a lot of blank pages. These are declined and about half the time the submitter adds content and resubmits. Sometimes, though, the page just stays blank, and after six months is eligible to be deleted under db-g13. This doesn't seem right to me, though, because someone may see this and, thinking that there is content there that could be improved, ask for a "G13 refund", leading to disappointment and wasted admin time. If I come across such blank pages, is it appropriate to delete them as test pages instead? —Anne Delong (talk) 18:00, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

No, only the general criteria are applicable, so A3 isn't available. If a page hasn't had content, can it be said to have been "blanked"? I could use G6 housekeeping, but I was hoping to find one where I wouldn't have to write an explanation. —Anne Delong (talk) 18:40, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

I don't work at AfC but wonder how many of the blank submissions are caused by the issue at Wikipedia talk:Article wizard#Don't submit before saving. Have AfC reviewers tried to ask users what happened and whether they thought they were saving an article? PrimeHunter (talk) 20:18, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

The blank submitters are invited to ask for help at the teahouse and also given a link to the talk page of the declining editor; I remember one incident about a year ago where I was contacted by someone who wondered where an article had disappeared to; turned out that she had worked for hours using the "preview" and hadn't saved. She didn't submit the blank, though. I haven't come across any other discussions about this; it usually wouldn't matter, because if the editor saved later it would still work unless the submission was reviewed within minutes. By the time blank submissions appear on the the g13 eligible list they are long abandoned. Can I delete them as test edits? —Anne Delong (talk) 00:00, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

PO - a word developed by Edward de Bono in the early 70's

Greetings:

my interest is having a Wiki on the word PO. Its history, and its functionality as a Peace Opportunity.

IMHO the use of the word changes the yes/no paradigm and increases communication between people. I have used it in teaching English as a Second language with great results, and as c philosophy to explore holistic thinking as opposed to reductionist thinking. Do you have significant content about the word, (its history, its usage, its impact etc) that has been published by reliable third party sources? If not, Wikipedia is not the right place. Vector font

Hello all,

I logged in today and found that the font for Vector (not Monobook, Modern, etc) has become some horrible manky serif face. It looks terrible in Chrome on Windows 7, and I have no idea why serifs are needed for on-screen reading anyway. Hi, I'm using Firefox on Windows XP and the "f"s on Wikipedia articles are all in bold (both lower-case and capital). I checked it on Internet Explorer and it doesn't have the same problem. Is there a way to fix it? David O. Johnson (talk) 20:19, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Help! New Font Choices Make Wikipedia Look Like An Amateurs First Web Page Attempt!

MediaWiki Help instead of Help:Contents/Browse on the Main Page

Yes, exactly. The Help link in the left side frame column of the Main Page now gives MediaWiki help only, which isn't the same thing as the Wikipedia Help: namespace at all. For whatever it's worth, I (before seeing this thread) brought the matter up at WP:ANI. No response as yet. (The sidebar change seems to have occurred at the same time as the Vector-skin font change, so I assume that someone at MediaWiki is responsible for it. The authors of the Wikipedia article are shown in the History tab. The authors of the original content that Wikipedia editors have gathered should noted in the footnote by each claim. New fonts on ALL of wiki?

How do I change the font back the the old. This new font, Arimo, is hard to read. Please give users an option to change.

I found a good solution, go to Preferences - Appearance - Skin - select Monobook. Save. Monobook restores the traditional useful Go and Search button. The vector is crap.

the new Wikipedia font size hurts my eyes

Hello, I am a random user of the internet and I'd like to complain about the new way the font is displayed. Despite the fact it was meant to help people with eye problems, it actually seems to cause a few for me. I am shortsighted and I wear my glasses all the time and only take them off when going to bed. When it started coming in April 1st, I thought it was an April fools day joke. When April 2nd came and it wasn't reverted and spread to other pages, I thought it was just someone who forgot to revert the size. Today, April 3rd, it's everywhere, it gave my eyes severe pain and I know it wasn't the computer because I checked. Everything on other websites looked big and my eyes were still sore. when I went off the computer for a little while, everything in the house and the car looked giant. Please revert the changes now, I thing I'm going blind because of it, other people seem to be complaining as well. Give both me and them what we want. If you must keep this eyesore, have the font size an option but not as the default. this is the 3rd type I had to type this. the first time, the message was incomplete and I saved by accident and the second time, the message was deleted without a trace. I think both were caused by my now sore eyes. Sorry, I deleted them because they were replying to the incomplete message, not the complete one. If you want, you can add them back. my eyes are better but again, I still strongly suggest you to remove this new feature right now. I will take this complaint as high up as I can go. If the font is too small, most browsers have an option to enlarge the text. Unfortunately, it enlarges everything else on the page too, so then you just get to read a little bit at a time. —Anne Delong (talk) 00:39, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

No, the problem with the new font is not that it's too small but that it's too big. For the record and to help you fix this horrible new font, my computer is a windows 7 and I'm using internet explorer 10. If you must have this new system in place, you must make it so anyone can change back without having to change code and make the option to everyone, even non registered users who don't edit. I recommend that the option selection be placed near the search box so everyone can see it. If you don't implement these suggestions, you might see a lot less people using Wikipedia. Fix annoying font change

Is there anyway to go back to the old styling of Wikipedia, the new one really annoys me (specifically too little text visible at any given time with my browser taking up half the screen)? I can zoom out, but this shrinks everything including images. I also find the font change a bit grating. I know I can create an account, but I'd just assume not have to create an account an log in all time (I'm opposed to having cookies hang around long term in my browser).

Specifically does anybody know of a browser plugin (Safari, Mac) that will revert styling permanently, or a way to always force monobook or a similar style? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.127.167.178 (talk) 21:50, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

If you create an account you can create a personal CSS file which will have the effect of undoing the changes to the new Vector default. Or you can change your skin to use Monobook which does not include the changes by default.--ukexpat (talk) 21:53, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

After a bit more research I think I've found a solution that doesn't involve a wikipedia login. To start get a plugin/extension for your browser that lets you add custom CSS to webpages (http://code.grid.in.th/ works well for Safari). Then use the fix at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Cathfolant/typographyrefreshoverride.css (just copy the code) to apply to "http://*.wikipedia.org/*". For me this puts it close enough (but not quite exact) to the classic formatting.71.127.167.178 (talk) 22:17, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Seconded. This is desperately, desperately bad. I use Chrome, and nowadays I rarely log in (only if I want to edit an article, basically), so user settings aren't a solution for me.

Previously, Wikipedia was the site I would use to test changes to my Chrome fonts, because unlike most sites, Wikipedia respected my Chrome font settings. This is no longer the case, and it's supremely annoying, especially since Chrome doesn't have a way to force Web sites to respect browser font settings. Without logging in, I'm stuck with this execrable illegible mess. I don't even know what font this is (I read about the change and the implementation of a font stack, but I don't know which font Windows 7 and Chrome are using), but it's really terrible.

From my point of view, it would be sufficient to modify Wikipedia in a way that respects OS and browser font settings, if that's possible without reverting all the recent changes. mw: is the website for the MediaWiki software which is used by thousands of wikis. The page has blue arrow links above the screenshots but it looks like a mix of skins meant for installing on your own MediaWiki installation, skins designed to work together with things no longer present in Wikipedia, and skins which might work on Wikipedia now at your own risk if you manually edit CSS and possibly JS files linked at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering. The new font size is way too big

The new font size is too big for me to read quickly and comfortably.

If you mean text on other sites, you can quickly correct it with Command/Control and +/- keys. Only a little hassle. If you mean the non-text elements on Wiki, Zoom Text Only must be checked. InedibleHulk (talk) 23:49, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

This is the result of new typography applied today. You can revert it by selecting Preferences → Gadgets → Vector classic typography (use only sans-serif in Vector skin). But, you only get Preferences if you create an account. --  Gadget850 ^talk 23:34, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

And, to be honest, we should not have to change settings every time we come to Wiki, nor be forced into serif when vector was the only non-serif - is a extremely disappointing.

Right in the Zoom menu, under the View menu, for me. No actual box, but if you click the words, a checkmark appears. Newest Firefox, OS X. Could be different elsewhere. I find taking it down one notch makes Wikipedia look OK, today. I still kind of like the old way, but that too will pass. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:03, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Oh, I thought you meant a Wikipedia option. I have my toolbar hidden to save screen real estate because I have one of these short, wide screens that are all you can get these days and are of no use for anything except watching movies, which I don't do.
