Referencing errors on Whig Party (United States)[edit]

Reference help requested. I received an automated message from Referencebot. I'm not familiar with this bot, and am unsure how to correct an error that it states I made. Thanks, Jack Sebastian (talk) 00:31, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, In reference No.16. a book has been cited using the template 'cite web' and referring to google books. However in the url parameter it merely repeats the book title rather than providing the url of the google books page you wished to cite. Inserting the correct url in the field will correct the error. Barotseland Music[edit]

(TheRecLabel-Recording Label)

Trinket Rec is the small group of small musicians (Artists and Producers) from Barotseland or Mongu(Zambia); it was first formed in 2013 by the group founder Hendrix Tiddy. Before he form this group he first approached the Jive-Beat studios which was also a small business company in Mongu (Zambia). He worked with the artists and producers at The Jive-Beat after the contract finished he wouldn’t stop. And he went to the Redox which was also a small recording label by Mr. Redox A.K.A (JJ Junior)Lozi . We are not sure if these other recording label mentioned are still available or they no longer available, but what we know is that The Trinket Rec is still running in Mongu. Hendrix released so many track from Trinket Rec though they aren’t country wide but sometimes people may find music instruments playing on cell phones from other provinces. Starting from 16th November 2015 it has been noticed that this label was growing up, Some provincial musician came to do the work with it. A musician Skwiz A.K.A Sikwibele Wasilota had a conversation with #TheRecLabel music group that in 2017 he will release a full new Album with the cooperation with Trinket Rec. Artists in Mongu(Zambia) Who worked with #TheRecLabel Music Group are; >Hendrix Tiddy Lozi (Founder), RaynZ Luvale Blacc (Co-Founder) Tizzy Nyanja(Co-Founder) , Flake Lozi(Joined 2013), Gin Mike(Joined 2015), Muyor (Joined 2015), M-Prince (Joined 2015)etc Original Musicians Who Talked About Trinket Rec Mark 2 Said ‘’You guys are just good, you may lack some studio instruments but keep working hard one day you maybe one at the top’’ He said this when he was at the consent in Mongu. T-Sean I may not know what brought you guys here, to come-up with this idea but I respect your opinion, keep trying and working hard. These are the only two celebrities talked about this music group, the guys took the chance to take their beats and song to them in-order to get some inspiration and advises. You may not know about this but you can get Hendrix Tiddy's mix-tapes on Mongu Black market. Trinket Rec 2016 ©

A user breaks the civility code[edit]

What exactly do I do and what are the steps I must take to report a user who breaks the civility code? Wikiwillkane (talk) 01:38, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On the one hand, to answer your question briefly, you can report civility violations at WP:ANI. On the other hand, a reference to breaking the civility code is vague. Do you mean that an editor used language that should not be used around children, or that an editor has engaged in repeated blatant personal attacks? If you will identify the specific dispute, you might get a specific opinion. In general, use common sense and be patient, and only go to WP:ANI in extreme cases. Before reporting anything to ANI, follow ANI for a while, knowing that it isn't pleasant reading, to get a general idea of what is and isn't tolerated. Maybe that sort of answers your question. Maybe it sort of doesn't. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:54, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I observe that the editor about whom you wish to complain was not the only person who considered some of your edits as excessive. Perhaps the advice could have been put more gently to avoid hurting your feelings, but I haven't seen any criticism of you that was seriously uncivil (maybe I missed it?) I'd recommend that you just give controversial issues a rest for a while, and work to improve some less controversial articles. Dbfirs 07:47, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How do I edit the main entry on a name[edit]

On this page

Megan Hathaway

The info above the Storyline says the actress was Miranda Wilson. However, her name at the time was Cheryl-Ann Wilson. How do I edit this to show the name of the actress as 'Cheryl-Ann Wilson aka Miranda Wilson'?

The page also says there are no sources, yet there is a link to the actresses IMDb page, another link to soapoperacentral.com and a link to the actresses personal website. In this case, what is a reliable source.

Can anyone create a page for this actress? Or must the actress do it herself?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.67.169.126 (talk) 11:10, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed her name in the article. Yes, someone could create an article about her - she has significant roles in three soaps, and won Best Villainess - but it's frowned upon for someone connected to her to do it, for WP:conflict of interest issues. Clarityfiend (talk) 12:52, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, anybody can create an article about her if she does in fact meet the criteria for WP:notability, but she is discouraged from doing so herself. IMDB is not a reliable source (much of it is fan-edited). There has been some discussion of soapcentral.com on the WP:reliable sources/noticeboard in the past, and the consensus seems to be that it is reliable for news, but not for character bios. Here own website cannot contribute to notabililty, which is all about what other people, unconnected with her, have published about her. Please see Your first article if you're considering trying to write an article. --ColinFine (talk) 15:52, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article Content Question[edit]

I stumbled over to the article "Carl Hewitt" because I'd been dealing (butting heads with a little) the editor of the same name/same person...looked at the talk page there...it has a thread titled "article is very out of date" wherein some editors are giving Hewitt a hard time about including reference to his recent work..their reasoning makes absolutely no sense to me...they are arguing that his recent work "IR" is itself not notable enough for inclusion. But this would only be an argument for not having a Wikipedia article about "IR"...It has been determined that Carl Hewitt is himself notable enough to have a Wikipedia article..therefore, what he has been predominately working on over the past several years is relevant for the article about him even if what he has been working on isn't itself notable enough for an article of its own....this guy has had a long history of misadventures with Wikipedia...but he is again able to edit on a limited basis...so it's unfortunate some are giving him problems that make little sense... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Carl_Hewitt (note: I can't edit that talk page as an IP)68.48.241.158 (talk) 15:28, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, it's best for the talk page there, for the most part. But I was wondering if my logic makes sense in regards to the general policies/practices of content inclusion(I would assume it does but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something)..68.48.241.158 (talk) 17:18, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Does this relate to St. Anne Township, Kankakee County, Illinois? If so, please provide a reliable source for the information, which will be necessary for the change to be made. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 15:50, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Youtube personalities and notability[edit]

Did we not have a (recent?) centralized discussion inre slacking notability requirements for Youtube personalities that was closed with no consensus to slack? Can anybody remember where it was? Thanks, Sam Sailor Talk! 16:19, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Sam Sailor:, the best I've been able to find is this Wikipedia_talk:Notability_(web)#RfC:_Notability_of_YouTubers but it's probably not what you're thinking of as it's from 2014. CaptRik (talk) 19:40, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't explain what problem you're having, we can't help very well. It's like saying to your auto mechanic that you're hearing a noise but don't describe what it sounds like, where it's coming from, etc. So tell us what you can and we can help you better. Poster upload[edit]

Hi! I'm trying to upload the poster of a movie, Salad Days (film), but the image isn't available after several minutes. I've followed the wizard with all the correct information, including the author. The image is available on the movie's website (http://saladdaysdc.com/screenings) and it should the at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Salad_Days_(2014).jpg - Riotbr (talk) 20:55, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Riotbr: Your account has made no uploads since 2010. Try again. It should be visible immediately. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:08, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I can tell, you never uploaded it. Anyway, do you have reason to think that image is not protected by copyright? Maproom (talk) 21:11, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: I tryed again and... nothing. I reduced the size of the image, so it have less than 100,000 pixels (0.1 megapixels) now. That's weird... Riotbr (talk) 21:25, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Maproom: I think that isn't protected because it's used in many related websites (IMDB, for example) and the author don't express nothing on the website of the movie. Riotbr (talk) 21:25, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That is not sufficient evidence. Many websites ignore copyright law until they receive a complaint; Wikipedia however aims to obey the law. It the author does not specify, we have to assume that he retains copyright. Maproom (talk) 21:34, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

An Autobiography Page[edit]

As it is against Wikipedia terms and conditions, I cannot write my own page as it has the potential to be biased. I am a seventeen-year-old author named Amanda L. Rautio and I don’t know how to go about getting a page done up as I can’t write it myself. I am all over google, and there are factual things up in many places. How do I contact someone to write this for me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MandaSixx99 (talkcontribs) 22:26, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I checked you out briefly...I'd bet you wouldn't be considered notable enough for an article quite yet...you'll have to look at the notability guidelines...congrats on your book though; and being so precocious you might very well be notable enough sometime soon!68.48.241.158 (talk) 22:37, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
