Red Slash Why did you close the RM for Apple (disambiguation)? This RM was proposed by an anonymous user and this talk page has been protected till 18:29, 29 September 2020. Also, the nom has been blocked for 1 month. So, I believe that discussions shouldn't be closed while the nom is blocked. Neel.arunabh (talk) 03:45, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Neel.arunabh, A strong consensus was reached after seven days had elapsed. Therefore it was closed. You can relist if you would like! Happy editing! HeartGlow (talk) 03:48, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There is no policy or guideline that advises against closing discussions initiated by blocked editors. – Teratix 11:13, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is inaccurate. You are mistaking Mrs. Universe and Mrs. Universe LTD. This particular pageant is Mrs. Universe LTD -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mrs._Universe. They are completely separate from Mrs. Universe which is the original Mrs. Universe owned by Bill Hall. The real Mrs. Universe is https://mrsuniverse.info/

This is clearly a copyright error as Bill Hall owns Mrs. Universe and the other Mrs. Universe LTD is owned by whoever you are talking about. This kind of mistake could result in a really bad situation. Would you please ensure that the wiki site is changed and accurately depicts who Mrs. Universe is as opposed to Mrs. Universe LTD. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:603:5080:5780:D0AB:B3ED:35DC:2B0C (talk) 04:21, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not subordinate to any patent offices. We have articles on notable topics only, and use common names rather than official names for article titles. The "Bill Hall" who owns "Mrs. Universe" name doesn't appear to be notable enough for Wikipedia. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:51, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Page deletion on behalf of Mr Waqar Zaka or Allow Mr Waqar Zaka to edit his page without any issue[edit]

I would like to talk on behalf of Mr Waqar Zaka, He wants to either get his Wikipedia page deleted or be allowed to self edit his page by himself, as 90% of his Wikipedia page is containing fake and incomplete details Shaheryar Shabbir (talk) 14:13, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Shaheryar Shabbir: We do not delete article at the request of the subject. You and Mr Zaka are free to make edit suggestions on the talk page of the Waqar Zaka article, at Talk:Waqar Zaka. Tag your suggestions with {{edit request}} to attract the attention of an editor. The suggestions should be specific and should cite published sources. If the article contains any assertions that are not supported by references to reliable sources, then point out each such assertion: these should be removed immediately per WP:BLP. -Arch dude (talk) 14:38, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to have the deletion based on votes, If you donot get enough votes you can cancel it, Shaheryar Shabbir (talk) 14:44, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Shaheryar Shabbir The article will not be deleted just because the subject requests it. If you want to argue that Mr. Zaka does not meet the Wikipedia definition of a notable person, you can attempt to do so, but this seems unlikely to me. If there is incorrect information in the article about him, please do as suggested by Arch dude. Again, the subject of an article does not get to determine if it exists or not. 331dot (talk) 15:13, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There was an AFD a month ago that was speedy kept, and the OP is now at ANI for legal threats. Joseph2302 (talk) 15:22, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Shaheryar Shabbir: We do not have votes, we have discussions leading to a consensus. During the course of a discussion, editors can support or oppose an action, describing their reasoning. We sometimes use the shorthand "!vote" (i.e., not-vote) to describe such an editor's input to the discussion, but we do not simply count up the "supporting" and "opposing" editors. If no consensus emerges, no action is taken. The "AfD" (articles for Deletion) discussion mentioned above developed a clear consensus to keep the article. -Arch dude (talk) 17:11, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to upload images[edit]

Can you please tell me how to upload images in a page — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mahode Kgomotso (talkcontribs) 16:12, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mahode Kgomotso: Please be aware that theere are two steps involeved that must be done sperately:
  1. upload the image. Please be aware that most images found on the internet are copyrighted.
  2. Add the image to the article. If the image would have been uploaded as Example.jpg this could look something like shown on the right.
Description of what the image contains
. Check the source code to see how its done. Victor Schmidt (talk) 17:05, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Title Blacklist Requests[edit]

What is the preferred method of making a request to add a title to the title blacklist? The title in particular is Harsh Beniwal, but I am asking here about how to make such a request in general. The title has already been create-protected in both article space and draft space, but the submitter is gaming the naming of salted titles by disambiguating the title as Harsh Beniwal (YouTuber). When that is salted, they will probably try something else. Do I make the request to blacklist the title at Requests for Page Protection, at WP:AN, or where or what? Robert McClenon (talk) 16:33, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Robert McClenon: such requests are typically made at MediaWiki talk:Titleblacklist. Victor Schmidt (talk) 17:06, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Victor Schmidt - Thank you for telling me where to make the request. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:11, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Victor Schmidt - Am I supposed to make the request using the Edit Request mechanism, or will any post to the talk page be satisfactory? Robert McClenon (talk) 04:44, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Robert McClenon: I'm unsure as I never needed to use that page myself, but I think in doubt use the edit-request mechanism. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 06:06, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request to protect page[edit]

Hello, at the page List of largest church buildings I please ask you to take a look the Revision History of the page. For example, recently the user 2605:a000:121e:c507:c971:cc9c:862e:fbb0 and the user 2600:6C46:6B80:49EB:ACF1:4CDD:708A:54A9 made several random editions ignoring all the discutions on the Talk:List_of_largest_church_buildings and even mixing the information between the several lines there. The page is constantly being vandalized, therefore I would like to request that the List of largest church buildings be locked to only allow editions of recognized editors.

If there is persistent vandalism, you can request protection at WP:RFPP. RudolfRed (talk) 18:33, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There needs to be an article for Charles "Buffalo" Jones. For example, his book (ISBN 978-0341861416) was "selected by scholars as being culturally important and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it". There used to be an article but it was deleted. Can it somehow be recovered (and fixed) or does it need to be started over from scratch? --107.15.157.44 (talk) 20:12, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello IP editor. The previous version had copyright violations so it is best to start over. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:16, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Regretfully, I'm not ambitious enough at the moment to tackle such a project. --107.15.157.44 (talk) 20:21, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This may have been a pen name of Henry Inman (U.S. Army officer and author). Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:22, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Actually:

Charles Jesse Jones, known as Buffalo Jones, was an American frontiersman, farmer, rancher, hunter, and conservationist who cofounded Garden City, Kansas. He has been cited by the National Archives as one of the "preservers of the American bison". Wikipedia

Delete my account[edit]

Accounts can't be deleted for technical and legal reasons. You can request a rename to a random gibberish string and stop editing the project. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Hasteur Hasteur Ha-- oh.... 02:37, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be interested to know the legal reasons. The law of course may vary over different countries so which countries are we talking about and which laws apply to Wikipedia. European Law for example requires certain internet details to be deletable. US law may be silent or even contrary to this (I don't know which.) EU law will continue to be in force in two English speaking countries (Republic of Ireland and Malta) unless the EU changes it and in UK until and unless UK changes it. Both are unlikely. This of course is a massive subject and I am not asking for a full reply here -simply a direction to an article on Wikipedia or elsewhere.Spinney Hill (talk) 08:30, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Spinney Hill: At least for accounts that made an edit its probbably because of the two licenses(CC-BY-SA 3.0 and GNU FDL), both of which are non-revokeable. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 08:38, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The legal reasons are due to the attribution requirements for the CC-By-SA and GFDL, as Victor says. Deleting one's account would make attribution for any edits they made impossible, and the licences are irrevocable. (I also linked the CC-By-SA text in my initial responce.) —A little blue Bori v^_^v Hasteur Hasteur Ha-- oh.... 02:53, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
