Searching user's contributions by article's name[edit]

Can this be done? Search a specific user's contributions by article? I don't see the point in having a "Search options" box in users' contrbutions pages, if it won't allow us to specify the article in which we want to see if the user made an edit in (? @Joaquin89uy: If you want to find edits by a specific user to a specific page then click "Find edits by user" at top of the page history. It can show 500 at a time so it would take a while to get my 14876 edits to this help desk. Damn, I have been here a lot. PrimeHunter (talk) 05:00, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cite issue errors line feed[edit]

I was trying to cite this working paper

But it errors "{{cite web}}: line feed character in |title= at position 69"

Hi Wakelamp. It looks like you copied and pasted parts of that citation from some other website. Sometimes when you do such a thing, some characters are added as full-width characters instead of half-width characters. In this case, it looks like one spaces between the words was a full-width space which seem to be causing the citation syntax to treat it as a line break. At least that's what I'm guessing the problem might've since I seem to have resolved the issue by tweaking some of the syntax. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:14, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank-you very very much for fixing - I was fiddling with it for ages. (And for introducing me to half/full width fonts!) To be honest, I'm not sure why such a thing happens with some websites or devices and not with others. I notice it lot when editing from my smart-phone since full-width seems to be the default setting. I believe there's a way to change things so that it isn't, but it doesn't bother me all that much. It's also something that's not immediately noticeable to most people unless they're specifically looking for it. It's easy to notice if you're using the source version of the editing window (not sure about the visual editor version) since things like appostrophes and quotation marks tend to stand out because it looks like they are double-spaced even though they really aren't. Probably the best thing to do for citations would be to just use the "Show preview" button to check for issues before hitting the "Publish changes" button. If you see a citation error notification like before, just go back and check for any full-width characters or spaces, or odd characters. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:22, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

One other thing I notice about that article is that the syntax for some of the files being used contains empty MOS:UPRIGHT parameters (i.e. there are no scaling factors being provided). Typically, this isn't really a good thing and has been deprecated; so, it would be better to assign a scaling factor value to said parameters if they're going to be used. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:20, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism help request from 2603:8001:CA41:6C00:A091:3FA3:7AEC:164C[edit]

I have noticed some vandalism at And That's Why We Drink. Namely, an anonymous user keeps going into the page and changing the hosts name from Em to Emothy, which is not the host's name. This is a silly inside joke of the podcast, and the host has mentioned they are upset by it on Instagram. Would an editor please assist me with fixing it? Activstudio and Activprimary[edit]

I'm under the impression that both of these articles, Activstudio and Activprimary could be nominated for deletion under G11. Activstudio was written by the supposed developer of both programs and the Activprimary article seems to be almost a direct copy of the Activstudio article with minor changes. both articles are entirely written like advertisements and seem to be at a point where they would need to be entirely rewritten to not look like such.

however, I'm not sure how to go about things as I've never really dealt with how to delete an article before. some assistance would be very appreciated. atmxwl ^☿ 12:22, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Company Listing[edit]

To whom it may concern,

Can some one give me some direction in how to get our company description factually listed to appear within Wikipedia ?

Scott R. Gardner We can't, because that's not what Wikipedia does. You seem to have a common misunderstanding about Wikipedia; it is not a directory where mere existence warrant inclusion, and merely documenting such existence is sufficient. This is an encyclopedia with criteria for inclusion, called notability, such as a notable company. An article must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage choose on their own to say about a company and why it is significant- not what a company wants to say about itself or things like press releases, announcements, or interviews. Please see Your First Article. The vast majority of companies do not merit articles. If your company does truly merit an article, ideally you or anyone associated with you should not be the one to write it.

You will also need to read about conflict of interest and paid editing(which includes employment) for informationon required formal disclosures. 331dot (talk) 15:20, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
