Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2011 August 11

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Please read and review my article. It describes the causes and outcomes of a 2009 referendum in Gainesville, Florida that had both local and national significance. I have 10 sources so far.

Looks good. I removed the unreviewed template.--SPhilbrickT 13:23, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is this sufficiently notable for a listing of Athletes Without Limits on Wikipedia? I'd like some help editing the article.

Thanks!

Jtetrick (talk) 02:42, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear editors, the article has been edited after feedback from user:miguel (thanks for replying!). References has been added. Please do provide me with further feedback if this article looks ok to move to wikipedia. Thanks!

Australian Citizenship Day[edit]

Australian Citizenship Day is celebrated each year on 17 September. Managed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Australian Citizenship Day is an opportunity for all Australian citizens, whether by birth or by choice, to reflect on the meaning and importance of their citizenship. The day is used as an opportunity to think about what unites all Australians, to take pride in Australia’s democratic values and to celebrate the role citizens play in shaping the nation. This year is the 10th anniversary of Australian Citizenship Day

CCCE (talk) 06:37, 11 August 2011 (UTC) A couple comments;[reply]

  • Not enough references for a Day that has been in existence for a decade. Surely there should be hundreds of references discussing what takes place if it is a notable event.
  • You have two embedded links that should be converted to references. --SPhilbrickT 14:19, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've recently created this page and am still working on it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, for example is the style too academic/essay like?

I think it's good, could add a section where people can input their own subjective reasons/experiences.

Fmhf87 (talk) 14:05, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article is interesting, and probably notable. I don't see any problems with the tone, Wikipedia articles should be written in a formal tone. I think having users write write their own experience might be original research. This Guardian article by Nicholson Baker aka User:Wageless might be useful. I have created a page for the Danish rock band Cryoshell. I am aware that this article has been deleted for a reason, but I have provided the name of their record label, which is seen on the article. Feedback would be helpful.

I have just written a new article about a scientist and hypnotherapist, Dylan Morgan. I'd be grateful for any comments to improve the article.

Also I have a specific questions regarding variants of names. Although he referred to himself as Dylan Morgan and this is how is best known, his full name is John Dylan Morgan. How can I arrange it so that both names link to the article?

Many thanks in advance.

Wikipedia mentions the name GASL in multiple articles. This article provides more information about GASL.

Has many problems. As does your user name, since it implies a connection to the subject. Read conflict of interest guidelines and the others. Looks like you moved it to user space without waiting for feedback from yesterday. Please have more patience (as a sign of your good faith) if you expect the article to stick around. We are all volunteers; runing around the guidelines just annoys the ones who might help. W Nowicki (talk) 17:47, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This draft is submitted for review.

I am employed by the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC) and am a university student. I am drafting this article about the MRCC because the organization played a notable historic role in the development of the city of Mission. A similar organization, the Vancouver Board of Trade already has an article published on Wikipedia, which leads me to believe that the MRCC is also entitled to an article because it was the first Board of Trade in British Columbia. There are also several independent, notable sources that provide information on the organization. I want to avoid a conflict of interest and hope to write this article from a completely unbiased, fact-based point of view. If you have any suggestions, comments or critique please let me know what I can do to improve.

This is an article about the Pennslyvania Impressionist painter, Roy C. Nuse. I would like to know if the article seems complete and if you have any formatting suggestions for me. I wanted to show a few examples of his paintings, but didn't have enough to warrant making an image gallery. I am hoping the formatting looks good on various browsers and computers. I would also like to have the article reviewed by a third party user so the disclaimer can be removed from the top.

Thank you for your feedback!

I am seeking feedback for the quality and style of the Season overview section, specifically for objectivity, as well as for the general organization of the page. All comments and suggestions for improvement are appreciated. Thank you!

This article is about a world cup series organized by International Canoe Federation in a sport called Canoe Slalom. Canoes Slalom is an Olympic sport and I felt that its world cup series should be mentioned on Wikipedia. Apart from a brief description of the competition, there is also the list of champions. Your feedback would be appreciated. I intend to expand this topic by covering individual seasons in separate articles.

I would like some feedback on this article I recently overhauled. It's a Good Article and is going through a DYK submission right now, which is almost done and it should be on the front page soon. I just wanted to throw it out there and ask, how far is this from Featured Article Candidacy? It's about as good and broad and as engaging as it can be for the subject matter, so far. The building has not even begun construction yet, so I see it as pretty good for it's real life progress. Please read the article and decide how close or very far it is from meeting FAC. Thank you. I would like to make sure this complies with Wikipedia guidelines from a marketing perspective. We by no means are using Wikipedia for that purpose. We are a sizable company whose name many people in Canada recognize. And we thought it prudent to add an educational article on our company and a few key points about us.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thank you,

I have--I hope--plenty of reliable third-party sources, and draft article for HyperSizer. I'm trying to stay hands-off as I am an employee of the company that created the software. If that wasn't enough, it's also my first time editing wikipedia, so if another editor could review the article and create it for me, I'd really appreciate it.

Like I said, I'm new, so please let me know if I'm violating any rules or SOPs, written or unwritten. Vtaber02 (talk) 16:57, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is a better start that most but still needs work before being published. Needs wikilinks, filling in citations instead of raw URLS, etc. will talk on your page. W Nowicki (talk) 22:33, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alas, your sources are all from the project itself. So the article would probably be deleted due to the general notability criterion. This does not mean the project is not "good", but just that you might want to keep it in your user area as a draft until there is some recognition of it by an independent party.
