The current AfD of this article is somewhat accidental, and to some extent it is the result of my actions. The state of the articles about the Polish folklore and the Slavic religion (in the Polish context) is really terrible, horrendous. This question is frequently mentioned in the Polish Wikipedia (for example by Hoa Binh). Our articles in this topics also tend to be very weak, but in the English Wikipedia it's just a nightmare. Unfortunately, I can't do anything with this issue and contribute vastly to the current AfD (though I'm definitely for the deletion of this article...). Cannabis in Poland needs improvement

We have a new article Cannabis in Poland, but it could really use improvement and expansion, especially from anyone who can read Polish sources. With a little polishing, it'd also be really useful to make a translated version for Polish Wikipedia since it's a topic of increasing interesting these days. 2016 Community Wishlist Survey Proposal to Revive Popular Pages

Greetings WikiProject Poland/Archive 17 Members!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about a technical proposal to revive your Popular Pages list in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

If the above proposal gets in the Top 10 based on the votes, there is a high likelihood of this bot being restored so your project will again see monthly updates of popular pages.

Further, there are over 260 proposals in all to review and vote for, across many aspects of wikis.

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Best regards, SteviethemanDelivered: 18:07, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

I plan to merge these two articles, and I thought I should let you folks know. If you'd prefer to do it yourselves, please go ahead. —Mark Dominus (talk) 06:09, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

I did this, and also updated some related pages, including Mount Karpinski, Mount Karpinskiy, and Mount Karpinsky (Urals). —Mark Dominus (talk) 20:50, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

@Alex Bakharev and Piotrus: Whoever suggested in a hidden note on Pavel Jacobi back in 2007 that the Battle of Kruszyna was at Kruszyna, Silesian Voivodeship, was right - see pl:Bitwa pod Kruszyną. I'm not worried about the 29/30 August problem - the date could have been recorded incorrectly (there was a war on, and a Gregorian/Julian date conversion may have been involved); or, there could have been a rearguard action. @Xx236: My back-of-the-envelope calculation suggests that the distance from Kruszyna to Niezmanice is about 3-4km. Totally plausible for C19 warfare, either for a side-action to the main battle or for an ensuing action. Narky Blert (talk) 21:29, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Notice to participants at this page about adminship

Many participants here create a lot of content, may have to evaluate whether or not a subject is notable, decide if content complies with BLP policy, and much more. Well, these are just some of the skills considered at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship.

So, please consider taking a look at and watchlisting this page:

You could be very helpful in evaluating potential candidates, and even finding out if you would be a suitable RfA candidate.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Hey all! Any chance someone here could find some sources for Policyjny Klub Sportowy Katowice? It has been tagged as having no references for 11 years. I can find some vague references to it existing, but can't quite find a source to backup anything in the article. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Happy editing! How about a "List of films about Poland"?

The 2017 film, "The Zookeeper's Wife", based on a true World War II Warsaw story, inspires me to ask whether it's not time to start a "List of films about Poland".

There is a "List of films set in or about North Korea" and a list of "Films about immigration to Italy".

Film is a good medium for spreading knowledge of culture and history.

If someone could start a "List of films about Poland" stub, it could be fleshed out over time.

Popular pages report

We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland/Archive 17/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject Poland.

We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:

  • The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
  • The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
  • The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).

We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject Poland, and what articles may be deserving of more attention. Gytha (talk) 09:51, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

Gytha (talk) 13:56, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Gytha, proszę o link do tego artykułu z Rzeczpospolitej. To wystarczy.
— Helen Lewis (2017-02-18), "Brief an Hans-Christian Ströbele." Dziennik Berliński.
Google Translate: Some historians, including Prof. Grzegorz Kucharczyk, even claimed that the term "Polish concentration camp" was introduced by the former Nazi Alfred Benzinger from Agency 114 of the West German intelligence in order to gain an insight into the global perception of German Nazi participation in the Second World War in Poland as "stateless Nazis".
• User:Gytha, User:Michał Sobkowski, User:Boston9, User:Ausir, User:Staszek Lem, and User:Piotrus. Please comment. — Below is the English summary of the above long discussion in Polish between us. User:Gytha is an administrator from Polish Wikipedia who addressed a request made in Polish, to have the English article "Polish death camp" controversy redacted, and the section "Operations to whitewash German responsibility for World War II" removed from it. The one-time Polish Wikipedian who posted their request at pl:Wikipedia:Zgłoś błąd w artykule have claimed that the false information originates from the Polish article in the "Wrecz Przeciwnie" magazine based on a book by Leszek Pietrzak titled Zakazana historia which the user described as falsified pseudo history (strong words, coming from a one-time throwaway account). — In the opening statement of this new thread, Gytha provided a link to online announcement from Wręcz Przeciwnie magazine dated 25/09/2011 (one paragraph) about the article in the 26 September 2011 paper issue. Gytha described the article as based on fiction, according to an article published in Rzeczpospolita newspaper on 30.05.2017. In the Polish Wikipedia the information about 'Agency 114' has been removed and reinserted several times already (there's a revert war going on there, with no signs of slowing down). I provided a list of external sources mentioning Agency 114 which can be found in our article's talk page. The problem is, the "Wrecz Przeciwnie" magazine becomes less and less relevant as I started to discover brand new articles by Polish academics in support of that claim. The three articles (hotlinked above) were written in Polish by Prof. Grzegorz Kucharczyk (Polityka and Rzeczpospolita), mentioned in a separate German article by Helen Lewis, and Dr. Leszek Pietrzak (Polityka). Needless to say, the whole argument turns into a big mess. I would be grateful for any suggestion you can provide. Poeticbent talk 20:33, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

I suggest this discussion must be moved to Talk:"Polish death camp" controversy. Article talk spaces are the place where articles are to be discussed. There are many reasons why this should be done so. Here may be only invitations to join the discussion in article talk pages. Staszek Lem (talk) 00:35, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

If this is to be mentioned at all, it should mention which historians make this claim and which disagree, given that it's not an uncontroversial statement that can simply be cited to these sources as a fact. Ausir (talk) 01:15, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

I am confused by the question 'who is professor Kucharczyk', a simple search directs us to pl:Grzegorz Kucharczyk. He seems like a reliable, professional historian, employed by the pl:Instytut Historii im. Tadeusza Manteuffla Polskiej Akademii Nauk. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:20, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
From that site one can see that he is a historian of the late XIX century. The question concerns another period. PuchaczTrado (talk) 05:26, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
This doesn't matter. Unless his claims are debunked by a more reliable expert, he is still reliable. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:30, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
We also have an article on Agency 114 which is also subject to a slow edit war about this claim. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:30, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Anyway, having read the discussion, I think that we can reliably source the claim to the cited newspapers and attribute it to Grzegorz Kucharczyk. It would be much better if we could find anything in academic sources, because it seems (correct me if I missed something) that the best we have is a newspaper interview, which is not as reliable as an academic paper. But it is still, nonetheless, reliable enough, barring any debunking in other sources. And again, I haven't seen anyone claiming this is untrue but a few Wikipedians. Personally, again, I'd strongly prefer to see an academic, not news, source on this, but if all we have is a reliable historian making a claim in a newspaper, it is nonetheless reliable enough in light of it not being contradicted by anything else we are able to find. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:34, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

PS. The best academic publication on this I found so far is Milena Malinowska. ""Polskie obozy" – problem błędnego określenia niemieckich nazistowskich obozów koncentracyjnych i zagłady oraz próby jego rozwiązania" in 2012: Polityka zagraniczna Polski. Wybrane zagadnienia i problemy, see page 148=149 in ([3]), which qualifies that the view that this term was introduced on purpose has been proposed and endorsed by some historians, through she only cites another Polish historian, pl:Leszek Pietrzak, as the author of the recent theory we discuss here. As she also cites his article (Leszek Pietrzak: “Plan Grubasa", tygodnik "Wręcz przeciwnie" Nr 1/2011), and does not that it sounds somewhat far fetched 'like a conspiracy theory'; the publication does not seem to be very reliable (some short lived weekly that went under quickly after 3 issues [4]). It does not seem that the author (LP) published his theory in any peer reviewed media. Setting aside speculation on whether he invented this from the think air, all we have to do is a minor but reliable (until proven guilty) historian making a claim in a niche magazine with unknown and likely weak fact-checking. It is barely reliable, but we have to consider stuff like WP:UNDUE. I think that at best, this claim has to be clearly attributed to him, and him alone, perhaps with a note that it has been repeated by another historian, Grzegorz Kucharczyk. Something like 'Two Polish historians, X and Y, made claims in the Polish media that...'. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:49, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
Date issue with Czestochowa

This is the entry I'm questioning: The Black Madonna is said to have miraculously saved the monastery of Jasna Góra (English: Bright Mount) from a Swedish invasion.[5] The Siege of Jasna Góra took place in the winter of 1655 during the Second Northern War, as the Swedish invasion of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is known. The Swedes were attempting to capture the Jasna Góra monastery in Częstochowa. Seventy monks and 180 local volunteers, mostly from the szlachta (Polish nobility), held off 4,000 Swedes for 40 days, saved their sacred icon and, according to some accounts, turned the course of the war.[7] This event led King John II Casimir Vasa to "crown" Our Lady of Częstochowa ("the Black Madonna") as Queen and Protector of Poland in the cathedral of Lwów on April 1, 1652. Prior to this event, several royal nobilities have offered crowns to the image throughout the years, replacing its iron sheet crown by gold and several jewels. In later years, various jewels were interchanged and repositioned around the image to preserve the aesthetic of the icon with the replacement of stolen crowns.[8]

How could She be crowned "Queen and Protector of Poland in the cathedral of Lwów on April 1, 1652 if the Siege of Jasna Gora took place in 1655? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cest Moi 810 (talkcontribs) 03:07, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Many members of my family died during WWII fighting for freedom (including freedom of speach), Im not afraid to be expelled from here. This Wikipedia is based on censorship. Surprisingly minority editors perish and British/WASP impose their POV. Am I allowed to dream at night about illegal subjects?Xx236 (talk) 06:43, 25 September 2017 (UTC)
@Filelakeshoe and Xx236: user:filelakeshoe is correct that WP:TOPICBAN prevents User:Xx236 from posting here (well, assuming his topic ban is related to Poland, looking at his talk page I only see a Soviet Union-related topic ban, and the biography is only partially related to SU; so I think he is entitled to link it here and discuss its non-SU aspects, i.e. all of it with the exception of the issues related to the subject's death). Of course, if he is indeed banned from Polish-related discussions, this only goes to show the idiocy of that policy, which is unenforceable (and indeed annoyingly infringes of the freedom of speech), as Xx236 can send emails to me and other members of this project, or post to our Polish Wikipedia pages (where perhaps he would find it easier to explain his concerns, as I still have no clue, for example, why he would want to post here about this page). Anyway, I recommend to Xx236 that he takes a year or so break from posting on English Wiki from Polish topics, then asks for a lift of this weird ban. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:47, 25 September 2017 (UTC)
Just to clarify, the topic ban is for USSR topics "broadly construed", so Xx236 is fine to post on this WikiProject page by my reckoning. The content of this post could be problematic. Disambiguation links on pages tagged by this wikiproject

Wikipedia has many thousands of wikilinks which point to disambiguation pages. It would be useful to readers if these links directed them to the specific pages of interest, rather than making them search through a list. Members of WikiProject Disambiguation have been working on this and the total number is now below 20,000 for the first time. As I suggested on pl wiki a while back, in memory of our dear departed friend, we can rescue and mainspace some of his unfinished drafts. See [[5]]. I just proposed his Battle of Głębokie, an article that was 99% finished but for some reasoned abandoned in his sandbox since 2012, for DYK. There are at least several other such articles there, which require just few minutes (well, maybe up to an hour at most if you want to do it properly and DYK them) of finishing touches. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:54, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

Since the Zdzisław Żygulski disambiguation page lists both Zdzisław Żygulski (senior) and Zdzisław Żygulski (junior), I thought that it would be more appropriate to disambiguate them by their field of study and moved Zdzisław Żygulski (senior) to Zdzisław Żygulski (literary historian), but before moving Zdzisław Żygulski (junior) to Zdzisław Żygulski (art historian), decided to consult here.

Both articles were created on March 17, 2007 by Polish Wikipedian User:Visor, whose last English Wikipedia edit was on May 5. 2013. On Polish Wikipedia, the entry for Zdzisław Żygulski (junior) was created the following month, but the entry for his father was not created until November 2013. The main title headers of the Polish Wikipedia entries carry the same "(senior)" / "(junior)" parenthetical qualifiers per English Wikipedia.

The WIEM Encyklopedia entries which serve as references in the English Wikipedia articles appear to be influenced in their form by the Wikipedia entries, possibly up to and including the main headers. However, the Polish Wikipedia entries have used Polish scholarly articles as references and some of those also use the forms ""senior" and "junior".

Before moving Zdzisław Żygulski (literary historian) back to Zdzisław Żygulski (senior), however, I would like to solicit views as to whether the forms Zdzisław Żygulski senior and Zdzisław Żygulski junior would be preferable. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 00:41, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

@Roman Spinner: I think this is more of a MoS question thant WP:POLAND question. Personally I prefer job disambigs as more meaningful and I'd suggest moving Zdzisław Żygulski (junior) to Zdzisław Żygulski (art historian). PS. I think pl wikipedia MoS usually recommends using dates of birth and deaths in disambig, which is not common on eng Wiki. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:04, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
My line of thinking regarding this matter follows the same pattern. I am going to wait until March 4 in case other suggestions might be forthcoming and, if there are no other, will attended to the move of Zdzisław Żygulski (junior) to Zdzisław Żygulski (art historian). —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 21:30, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

could anyone help with translation?

I am using Google Translate to mine Polish sources for information, but I met my first problem. Here is the quote:

The band he worked with, was it translated to Moon but actually meant Moonlight (band)? There is also diegetetyczą, which I interpret to mean diegetic sound. Could you accurately translate the rest? Google Translate makes it so confusing. Cognissonance (talk) 16:40, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

Here goes:

While working on the soundtrack, I had the pleasure to work with some fantastic people. First of all, I have to mention the legendary Polish band Księżyc. The girls sing as a choir, but this not a regular choir; for the purpose of the project we've invented a new language, words with an ominous, alien, ritual sound. It's one of the organic elements that work well with the ubiquitous electronic sound. The diegetic music, which can be heard several times in the game, when one of the characters reminiscises about some hard partying (among other things), was created by esteemed psytrance artist Mirror Me. Przemek Laszczyk, with whom I also had the pleasure to work on the game Kholat, was responsible for additional ambient music and, for example, the tattoo studio theme.

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.

If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.

Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   07:51, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

The victims were picked out by local Volksdeutsche with Polish citizenship for execution.

  • Is the citizenship important to be mentioned here?
  • There are obviously two POVs - the Nazis (I'm not sure about the BDR) considered the VDs to be German and cancelled any Polish citizenhip in September 1939 so there were no POlish citizens at that time. Poland expelled many VDs and cancelled Polish citizenship of the VD who run away to Germany. Do we know if the mentioned VDs didn't run away in 1945 and all were punished as Polish citizens? Controversial film Kler (The Clergy) by Polish director Wojciech Smarzowski needs article

We should have an article for the controversial film Kler (The Clergy) by Polish director Wojciech Smarzowski.

Wojciech Smarzowski's new controversial drama Clergy, about the Catholic Church in Poland, had over 935,000 admissions during the premiere release weekend, breaking the record for the best opening of a Polish film in the last 30 years.

https://www.filmneweurope.com/news/poland-news/item/117090-smarzowski-s-clergy-breaks-polish-box-office-record

A film depicting Polish clerics as corrupt, drunken fornicators and paedophiles is smashing box office records in Poland, sparking controversy and encouraging hundreds of people to come forward with allegations of recent and historical abuse.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/15/polish-film-the-clergy-sparks-hundreds-of-allegations-of-abuse-kler-catholic

Whatever you think of this film, it certainly meets notability guidelines.

We currently have a redlink Clergy (film) in our article Wojciech Smarzowski.

We should decide whether our article should be at Clergy (film) or The Clergy (film).

There might be an issue about WP:NPOV, and the same way the proper evaluation and treatment of sources...The sensitive Ukrainian viewpoint might be that many actions carried out in the past on the territories what belongs today to Ukraine (but not earlier, or even before Ukraine was founded) would be count as an anti-Ukrainian act, that seems controversial, since I would suggest Ukrainian sources or viewpoint conclude that mainly, but I am not alone to question that, since i.e. the introduction of the Polish language in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in such case could be considered the same way "against" any other language, though, I don't see it's suppressive matter, because then in other places of Europe the introduction of any other language could treated like that, that is highly unnatural...(would be the introduction of Romanian administration in the Romanian principalities "suppressive"?? Since 1622 it was introduced an used together with Slavic, but there would be other notable examples...etc.) (KIENGIR (talk) 10:03, 1 June 2019 (UTC))

Could somebody translate that sentence:

"Lekarze orzekli nie mniej ni więcej tylko raka, nie zważając na ogólne kontuzje, opowiedzieli się za koniecznością operacji. Operacja się odbyła, podobno otwarto jamę brzuszną i zaszyto z powrotem z powodu beznadziejnego stanu."

Google translate says, he died of cancer. Is this correct? HerkusMonte (talk) 07:17, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

@HerkusMonte:. There you go: "Doctors pronounced not more, not less than cancer. Not considering general wounds, they voiced a necessity of a surgery. The surgery took place, apparently the abdominal cavity has been opened, and sewed back due to the hopeless condition." - Darwinek (talk) 13:05, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Rojek Article

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rojek

Would it be possible to make a Wikipedia page explaining the origins and meanings behind the Polish surname Rojek? It seems like "Rojek" only refers to this small town in Western Poland that used to be part of Germany a long time ago.

It is a rather pronounced surname and I am a Rojek, even though my name's spelled with a "Y" instead of a "J" thus being spelled "Royek" instead of "Rojek"

That is my actual real last name. Patchman123 (talk) 22:17, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[1] It is an actual, though uncommon, Polish surname.

@Patchman12: Possible? Sure. Someone just has to spend time doing research and writing it up. You can do it, too: WP:BEBOLD. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:52, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
The place was in Germany, probably renamed around 1945. Xx236 (talk) 10:33, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

Orphaned image, there already exists a clearer image of higher resolution of the same painting at Commons (File:Michał Jerzy Wandalin Mniszech.JPG).

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Socialism in Poland / Communism in Poland

There is an open discussion at Talk:Communism in Poland#Socialism in Poland that may be of interest for members of this project. The main question being whether the article Communism in Poland should be expanded to cover, more generally, Socialism in Poland. --MarioGom (talk) 15:36, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

correction needed to map of territorial changes of Poland (Memel/Klaipeda)

re: Territorial evolution of Poland - map - errors in Memel/Klaipeda region Good observation. Please report this to the 1) person who created the image 2) image talk page 3) WT:POLAND 4) talk page of article on Territorial changes of Poland. Hopefully this will result in alerting someone who can fix it - I don't edit images, I am afraid, not my skill set. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:07, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello, The initial map of Poland's changing boundaries is wonderful. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/92/Territorial-changes-of-Poland-1635-2009-small.gif

There is one problem that I noticed, which is not directly related to Poland, but is still relevant and can be easily fixed.

this is the error in the depiction of the "Memelgebiet". This region is shown as part of Germany (Weimar and Nazi) through WW II, but in fact, it was Allied administered after the Versailles Treaty (1919) and was then taken over by Lithuania in 1923, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaip%C4%97da_Revolt Then, in April 1939, the area was "returned to the Reich" after a Diktat by Nazi Germany, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1939_German_ultimatum_to_Lithuania Thus it remained during WW II, and in 1945, this area was annexed by the USSR along with the so-called "Kaliningrad Oblast". So the 1919, 1923, and 1939 maps (and any intermediate ones) should be edited to show this region accurately. Thanks you for your consideration. Jtelser (talk) 13:09, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

so I am reporting this to #3: "WT:POLAND". I don't know how to contact #1 and #2. Jtelser (talk) 02:52, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Help verifying Polish language sources on Walter Kuhn

I'm asking if anyone with access to Polish language sources who speaks at least passable Polish could have a look at the sources being cited at Walter Kuhn. Kuhn was a German historian and folklorist who was also a Nazi (and involved in advising ethnic cleansing, I should add) but went on to have a very long and respected postwar career. I have some POV concerns about how Polish sources (most of which I can't find, and my Polish is based on A1 Czech and google translate anyway) are being used to talk about his postwar scholarship and, to a lesser extent, claims that he was involved in espionage against Poland in 1939 (which is believable, I just can't find it in anything in English or German OR find/access the Polish articles making the claims). I'd appreciate any help on verifying that they say what is being said in the article and that they are not just cherry-picked to make Kuhn sound evil (not saying he wasn't, but NPOV) and his (postwar) work sound like garbage (it's still frequently cited today). I realize that the postwar academic careers of former Nazis can be a fairly controversial topic. I'd also appreciate any help on keeping the article neutrally worded and organized.--Ermenrich (talk) 00:36, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

@Ermenrich: Please ping me on the talk of the relevant article with notes which specific source(s) you want to review, and I'll see what I can help with. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:18, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Implications of recent ArbCom case for content creation on WWII Polish topics

Interested editors may want to see the Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification_and_Amendment#Clarification_request:_Antisemitism_in_Poland (second request, so scroll down, through the first one is of some relevance as well). As a content creator active in this topic area who was not the party to the related ArbCom case, nor was named in any findings, I am nonetheless scared now to edit articles in this topic area. In effect, adding a single problematic source could get one banned or topic banned for an extended period of time (as has happened to one editor just recently). I think this is something that editors of this project should be aware of. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:53, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
