Scope of the SEA region articles
I would like to suggest that personal talk pages and talk pages of the pages mentioned above - in reality belongs to and a lot of patience and not a single skerrit of any boldness - there are in fact up to 14 related articles that deserve very close examination - and considered conversation - this is just a few:
- Maritime Southeast Asia is in fact in strict terms different from -
- Malay Archipelago
- East Indiies
and
- Austronesia
The big problem is that they are often conflated and loosely made into sounding the same when they arent and Wallacea and Sundaland (And many other articles) also complicate generalisations made at the larger scope regions if they are ignored SatuSuro 12:50, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Southeast Asia articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Southeast Asia articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. Lao spelling of Khone Phapheng Falls
lo:ແມ່ນ້ຳຂອງ (Mekong River) spells them ຄອນພະເພັງ, and the spelling given in Khone Phapheng Falls would, as far as I understand Lao script, be transcribed "khkôknké phka phkéng" by BGN standard. -- Hämbörger (talk) 16:42, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Need an image of South Asian spider Phaeacius
I am working on an article about Phaeacius, a very unusual jumping spider from South Asia and especially Malaysia. There are no images on Commons and none at FIST - the spider is very well camouflaged and hard to find. Most of the images on Google Images are "all right reserved", and the two that are not "all right reserved" have licences that are not usable for Wikipedia as they forbid commercial use and derivatives. Does any one know how to contact Wikipedians in South Asian, who might be help in finding images of Phaeacius. --Philcha (talk) 11:49, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

26th SEA Games opening ceremony in Palembang
In the current entry, it was written as follow:
Susi Susanti, who was suspended by wires, then appeared to run horizontally along the walls of the stadium through to the Olympic cauldron, which at this moment was still not shown. As he ran along the upper wall of the stadium, the projection displayed a scroll opening ahead of him, on which was beamed footages of previous torch relays around the world. At the final moment, a spotlight revealed the final resting place of the Southeast Asian Games flame, which had appeared during the torch run. A colossal torch situated at the top of the stadium was lit by a proportionately large Constructor.
This is not right. This has combined Beijing Olympics opening ceremony with SEA games Indonesia. Facts: 1. Susi Susanti climbed on top of a ship in the middle of the stadium 2. She lighted a spear from the torch received from last torch bearer. 3. She was suspended VERTICALLY and "flew" towards the cauldron which was there all the time. 4. She was supposed to throw the spear onto the claudron but from recording, one can clearly see that she missed. 5. The claudron was ignited automatically or so
I am not good at writing article and hopeful someone can assist to correct this.

There was a great deal of controversy surrounding the closure and subsequent events, which involved a number of reverts and re-reverts which are the subject of an ongoing arbitration case. Wealth Distribution in Southeast Asia
I am a student at Rice University in Houston, TX, and I'm planning to write an article entry about wealth distribution in Southeast Asia for my Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities class. This existing page on Southeast Asia is quite extensive in its depiction of the region’s history, political systems, geography, and culture, but lacks an analysis of development – an extremely relevant subject in a region with expanding economies. The Southeast Asia page does has an “Economy” section with a little over five hundred words, but lacks within that section any information about wealth on a non-macro level or about human capabilities. The word “poverty” is not mentioned once in the entire Southeast Asia Wikipedia page. There are also various pages on income-specific inequality in the United States, a short article on international inequality, and other related topics. They do not, however, adequately address the issue of wealth distribution and corresponding measurements of human capabilities in the region being examined. A region-specific article that focuses on macroeconomic development as well as individual wealth distribution could unite these issues into a more targeted analysis of wealth in that region, and perhaps encourage future work on other regions. Therefore, I plan to write a new, comprehensive article with information regarding and various analyses of wealth distribution and poverty in Southeast Asia, with a link to this new page as a subsection under “Southeast Asia / Economy”. As previously discussed, my article will focus on wealth distribution on Southeast Asia, the various forces acting on said distribution (tax policy, globalization, market forces, socio-economic relationships, etc.), and effects of various levels of wealth throughout the region on human capabilities and overall economic development in Southeast Asian countries. I believe this is a better course of action than to simply revise and expand upon the “Economy” section of the Southeast Asia Wikipedia page, as an expansion of a topic such as this one might lead to an unreasonably lengthy addition to an already lengthy article. An extensive focus on individual capabilities through wealth distribution analysis may overshadow the section’s (and article’s for that matter) focus on macro-economic policy, history, and indices. Note, however, that I do support the overall expansion of the "Economy" section of this page as it is an extremely important aspect of this developing region. With a new article clearly linked (probably as a subsection of “Economy”), I will be able to more easily connect with and build upon scattered and often inadequate pages on poverty and human development in various countries in Southeast Asia. As a highly interconnected region through ASEAN, trade, social exchange, and many other mediums, the region as a whole warrants a more cohesive and comprehensive analysis regarding poverty and human development. By looking at wealth distribution in the region (among and within different countries) with a new Wikipedia article, we can more effectively examine these issues pertinent to the shaping of policies in those countries. I'm expecting to encounter some problems along the way, the most difficult of which is probably the scope of the region as a whole with regard to development on the individual level.
