Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. - See this discussion: Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2015_February_26#Category:Indochina. There is apparently a need for an article about Indochina as a regional name that is still being used (so not just a historical/colonial name), is someone willing to give it a start? - The misunderstandings seem to compound. As to whether there is a need for such an article is open to question. There was an unreferenced article Indochina for 5 years and no -one added references or citations for the claims of the extent of the usage of the name. The talk page of the original article was unresolved on a number of issues.
- Two days ago a low edit user started creating a category - tied into un-referenced claims in the original article
- There is nothing to actually backup the claim of the article - which then was changed to Peninsualar Southeast Asia.
- If someone wishes to expand the information inside the Peninsular Southeast Asia with WP:RS to back up the claims for contemporary and not historical usage - then it could be a sub-article of the peninusla southeast asia article.
- The crux of the issue is that no-one in 5 years has made any attempt to either show the etymology or the usage - to verify the need for the article. If someone has the capacity to provide adequate explanation of the usage and with good citations - great! satusuro 13:44, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

- It would be better to bring in a second editor who is more familiar with Malaysia in general and can read Malay. I am having trouble in the history section where some parts I do not know what the sentences mean and because some sources are in Malay which I cannot read or understand. Auto-assessment of article classes
Following a recent discussion at WP:VPR, there is consensus for an opt-in bot task that automatically assesses the class of articles based on classes listed for other project templates on the same page. In other words, if WikiProject A has evaluated an article to be C-class and WikiProject B hasn't evaluated the article at all, such a bot task would automatically evaluate the article as C-class for WikiProject B.

Media upload of images from Southeast Asia
Dear project-members,
I would like to draw your attention to a media uploads that may be of relevance to your project:
The Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies and Leiden University Library donated 3114 images to Wikimedia Commons as a follow-up to an earlier donation containing 2400+ images. The new donation contains photos, lithos, drawings, watercolours showing people, landscapes, plantations, plants and butterflies from countries such as Suriname, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and Singapore. The upload was carried out by Hans Muller.
The National Museum of World Cultures (a merger of the former Tropenmuseum, the Museum Volkenkunde and the Afrika Museum) donated a collection of 720 images to Wikimedia Commons. This donation consists of photos of objects from the museum's collection, and of photos taken during Dutch scientific and military expeditions in Suriname and the Dutch East Indies.

French Indochina
Hello,
I am trying to find translations in vietnamese, cambodian and lao for the official name of French Indochina. It actually had two official names, Indochinese union (1887-1941) and Indochinese federation (1941-1954). I've already asked on [Wikipedia:[WikiProject Cambodia]] and Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam. 10,000 Challenge
Hi, I was wondering if anybody would like to collaborate long term in trying to reach a 10,000 article improvement/creation drive for Southeast Asia at Wikipedia:WikiProject Southeast Asia/The 10,000 Challenge like we're doing for the UK at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge? Regional contests fuel the drive but it's a permanent goal now. Media upload of historical photographs of various countries in Southeast Asia
Dear editors,
I would like to draw your attention to a media upload that may be of relevance to this page:
The Temminck Groll Collection consists of 2,641 historical photographs taken by the Dutch architect and architectural historian Coen Temminck Groll (1925-2015). The photos were taken in regions with which the Dutch have had historical relations, including countries in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia (see the category description for a full listing). The photos were taken during Temminck Groll's travels and study of 'shared cultural heritage' (heritage of the Netherlands located outside the country’s borders) and mainly date to the 1960s and 1970s. The photographs were digitised by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands and made available to Wikimedia Commons in the context of the project The Netherlands and the world. WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject
The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.
Portals are being redesigned.
The new design features are being applied to existing portals.
At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.
The discussion about this can be found here.
Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.
Background
On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.
Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.
So far, 84 editors have joined.

the formatting of the list of countries unnaturally pulls Indonesia in to the same indent as the list header, and trying to bring it back out generates an error message:

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? I am looking for proactive expansion and update support/input help the following (So far neglected but important topic) articles, if possible. Even if you feel your focus area bit different still contribution of few line may help bring in some different perspective and also help Wikipedia goal of neutrality. If you can't spare time but if you know any good references you can note those on talk pages.
This has been posted to this forum since, one of article review suggested to have more diverse editor participation to have more inclusive, neutral and balanced worldview
I hope and request some editors from this forum too proactively and constructively participate in updating and expanding of article Islamic advice literature
