More notable than the musician?[edit]

I'm going to argue that Dallas Green (musician) is more notable to be added as the preliminary "Dallas Green" than this guy. The musician is more current, well-known popularly, and is actually still in his profession.

I know this is a minor thing, but still... --Silverskylines (talk) 01:01, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Current notability is not as relevant as overall notability. yes, the musician is more famous right now, but thats irrelevant. many past figures are currently less famous than the musician, and are historically much more notable. the baseball person made it to the top of his profession, the musician is at an early stage of his career. ironically, the musician is actually named after the baseball person. when a famous baseball player is found to be named after the musician, lets talk.(mercurywoodrose)76.234.123.226 (talk) 20:45, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Granddaughter[edit]

Dallas' granddaughter was among those killed in the shooting in Arizona that wounded Congresswoman Giffords and killed five others (to date). I feel this is notable enough to add to the primary article 71.245.235.128 (talk) 07:53, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

information on why she was there, who she was there with, would be helpful.(mercurywoodrose)76.234.123.226 (talk) 20:46, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 18 April 2024[edit]

Dallas Green (baseball)Dallas Green – Following the recent page move of the musician to "City and Colour", there is no need to have the disambiguation for the baseball manager. After all, the musician was named after the baseball manager! A hatnote could be used to different between the two, as well with the unrelated baseball team Dallas Green Monarchs. APM (talk) 18:57, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, no evidence of a primary topic here. Dallas Green (musician) is still known as Dallas Green, even if the article was moved. Dallas Green (baseball) gets only a fraction of the pageviews. 162 etc. (talk) 02:51, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, since the move of the singer to City and Color, the dab page now has a redirect contrary to policy (see MOS:DABSHORT, specifically The article title should appear exactly as it is on the target page; the link should not be piped except to apply formatting). Once the redirect is corrected, the DAB page would only have one blue link for a named article. Therefore, we would be in primary topic area. There's no possibility of confusion the for the primary page for the baseball player, so here a {{for}} hatnote would suffice. microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 17:03, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The link to Dallas Green (musician) is not piped. This is a redirect, and is correct in this case; see MOS:DABREDIR. 162 etc. (talk) 21:32, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think you're correct then in this case, reviewing the page views. Dallas Green should redirect to City and Colour and then should have the {{redirect}} hatnote for this page. Stricken and changed below. Thanks @162 etc.. Cheers, microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 13:08, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did read the conversation before commenting, you know, I just don't agree with you as to the relevance of WP:DPT to this discussion. I didn't say anything about an exact title match. Neither, for that matter, did Muboshgu. This isn't a case where the non-exact title article is "Dallas R. Green" or "Dallas Green-Smith", the other article is "City and Colour". That's not non-exact, that's completely different. Egsan Bacon (talk) 17:35, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:DAB: "Disambiguation is required whenever, for a given word or phrase on which a reader might search, there is more than one existing Wikipedia article to which that word or phrase might be expected to lead." City and Colour is also Dallas Green (musician). Dallas Green is ambiguous. 162 etc. (talk) 21:52, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
