Article title[edit]

I'm not sure Day Without Immigrants 2017 is the best title for this article, but I needed to disambiguate from Day Without Immigrants, which redirects to Great American Boycott. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:51, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Heroeswithmetaphors: My only concern about this edit is that coverage may refer to the protest as "Day Without Immigrants" more often than "A Day Without Immigrants". I guess we'll be able to better determine a common name after some time has passed. Just something to keep in mind as we review sourcing. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:58, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Heroeswithmetaphors: I went ahead and returned both names, leading with the (currently) more common name based on press coverage. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:13, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Megalibrarygirl: Thank you for expanding this article. Do feel free to share if you have any thoughts re: the best title for this article given press coverage (or the section below re: navbox). Thanks again! ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:04, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Another Believer: I understand why you chose the name for the article. I'm not sure which is the best name at the moment. Sorry! I'm happy to contribute and I'm good with whatever name we settle on. ;) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 00:12, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, and thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:57, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Protests in the 21st century" navbox[edit]

Resolved

I don't think this navbox should be included at the bottom of the article unless this article is actually added to the navbox. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:16, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'll assume this edit meant User:JFG agreed. ---Another Believer (Talk) 04:13, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Correct. This protest was not significant enough internationally to deserve inclusion next to political revolutions or widespread social unrest. But it was significant locally, so I added some text from this article to the Protests against Donald Trump page. — JFG talk 04:21, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge[edit]

Is this really that notable on its own? I suggest merging this with Protests against Donald Trump, share your thoughts below. Jdcomix (talk) 17:38, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strong oppose. I find the event independently notable, and the article should be kept and expanded. ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:50, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 16 October 2022[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved to Day Without Immigrants. There is a clear consensus against the current title. But on policy grounds (such as implicitly WP:PRECISE) dropping the year seems to find the most support as presented in the discussion. Day Without Immigrants 20172017 Day Without Immigrants – Generally speaking, the year should be placed before the events, example includes 2017 Women's March, 2017 Berkeley protests, etc. 58.153.119.239 (talk) 08:10, 16 October 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! Relisting comment: It was also suggested to drop the year. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 19:38, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Move to Day Without Immigrants. I agree with the above comment. This is not an annual event and the date disambiguation is not needed. I also don't like having the disambiguation date at the beginning due to searching and indexing issues. If there is a disambiguation date in a title such as this it should be at the end, not the beginning. And it should also be in parentheses. Not having the disambiguation in parentheses makes it appear to be a part of the actual title of the event, which it is not in this case. Rreagan007 (talk) 20:55, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
